Chapter 2: Fun isn't in the Zone
Fenton, Huey and Webby were running as fast as they could to the Money Bin. When they finally made it, Manny was there in the office and Fenton had rushed over to them.
"Okay, I'm here. Now who are we dealing with? Beaks? Beagle Boys? Another villain that I can't think of right now?" He asked and Manny stomped his hooves down a few times.
"What? You don't know?" Fenton questioned and Manny gestured for them to follow him. They made their way inside the surveillance room where Gyro and Boyd were.
"Ah, glad you could join us." Gyro said and pointed to the camera screens that were focused on the lab. "About 10 minutes ago, an invention that is incredibly similar to the time tub appeared in my lab. We managed to lock it down so what ever, or who ever was inside did not escape, but there had been no movement since then." He reported and Fenton turned to the screen that had a close up of the time tub.
"Wow, it looks like an upgraded version of the time tub you've built." Fenton observed, causing Gyro to grumble.
"No kidding, that looks highly advanced. Must have gotten some serious updates." Huey added.
"Okay, okay! I get it! This model is advanced, but there is still the fact that there is an unidentified machine in my lab, and we have no idea who or what is inside!" Gyro exclaimed.
"Well it looks like we are going to find out now." Boyd comment and everyone turned to the screen and saw that the blanket in the time tub was moving. They were silent and watched intently and the blanket then flew off the tub and Maria grabbed the edge of the tub and peered over it.
"Did...did we make it?" She asked and Texter appeared by her side and he had a thinking face before he hopped out and looked around.
"Oh, it's just a kid, and her robot." Webby said.
"But what are they doing here?" Fenton asked and Huey squinted his eyes.
"Wait, is she wearing a Gizmoduck shirt?" He questioned and looked over at Fenton before turning back to the screen.
Maria climbed out of the tub and reached her hand out for Texter to climb onto her hand and sat in her shoulder as she looked around the lab.
"Wow, it's...it's exactly like the old pictures..." She said and Texter rugged at her shirt and pointed back to the time tub and she face-palmed.
"Right, I can't leave that here." Maria rushed over to the machine and opened a panel to reveal a set of numbers.
"What's the code? I always forget..." She asked and looked over at Texter who used his fingers to show her 4 numbers.
"Oh right, 1, 9, 8, and 7!" Maria pressed the numbers and backed away as the time tub suddenly folded up into a metal backpack and Maria quickly slipped it on her back.
"Huh, it's a lot lighter than I thought it would be." She muttered.
"Okay, I've seen enough. We're going to confront her and send her back to her time." Gyro said.
"But shouldn't we ask why she came here from the future?" Webby asked and Gyro shook his head.
"No no no no no, the time space continuum is fragile enough as it is. We can't ask about our future, or we risk it not happening at all." He explained sternly.
"As much fun as it would be to know our future, I have to agree with Dr. Gearloose on this...right Boyd?...Boyd?" Huey asked, notching that he wasn't in the room anymore.
"Oh no, don't tell me..." Gyro muttered as Fenton turned to the screens.
"He's going to talk to her."
Maria couldn't help but be curious as to why the lab was empty when she appeared out of the time stream. She expected to come across Gyro and maybe even her father, but she and Texter were the only ones in the lab at the moment. She looked over at Texter, who started to sign.
"Yeah, you're right. We should take advantage of their absences while we still can." Maria agreed and headed to the elevator, but she heard it ding and she gasped.
"Uh oh, come on!" She quickly hid behind the lab station and covered her beak to muffle her breathing. Maria listened for a moment, hearing footsteps but she couldn't tell who they were. She turned to the right and saw no one coming towards her.
"Hi! I'm Boyd!"
"GAH!" Maria cried, turning to left and falling back when she saw Boyd reaching out his hand.
"Oh, are you okay?" He asked and Maria rubbed her head as Texter patted her shoulder.
"Ugh...Wait...Boyd?" Maria asked, looking up at Boyd.
"Yep, that's me! It's stands for Be Only Yourself Dude! What's your name?" He asked and Maria hesitanted, but grabbed his hand as he helped her up and she shook it.
"I'm Maria and this is Texter." She introduced and Texter waved and signed 'Hello Boyd, it's nice to meet you.'
"Wow, he's amazing!" Boyd gasped and Maria blushed.
"Thanks, I made him for the Woodchucks. Thanks to him, I got my robotics badge." She explained, remembering the memory fondly.
"Neat! It's nice to know that the Woodchucks are still around in the future." Boyd commented and Maria flinched.
"Oh...right...you've probably realized that. I'm sorry, we have to go!" Maria turned and started to walk away but Boyd quickly grabbed her hand gently.
"No, wait. We can help you. If your time tub is damaged Dr. Gearloose and Crackshell-Cabrera can fix it..." Boyd then noticed that Maria was shaking and he let go of her. Texter patted her head, but Maria's eyes soon filled with tears.
"Wait...you're scared aren't you? Did something happen? We can help you." Boyd assured her and Maria looked over at Boyd and nodded.
"Yeah, I am scared..." She admitted before looking up and gasping.
"AND THERE IT IS!" Maria shrieked, pointing behind Boyd, who whipped his head around.
"What, where?" He asked frantically and saw that it was only Manny behind him and he chuckled.
"Oh don't worry, Manny won't..." Boyd then realized that Maria had tricked him and she was rushing to the elevator.
"Wait! Stop!" He cried as Manny chased after her. Maria then made it to the elevator and the doors shut and she frantically pressed a button.
"Come on, come on, come on!" She urged as the elevator moved and she groaned, pulling at her hair. "Why couldn't Uncle Gyro have updated them by now!?"
Texter then signed something while his screen displayed a question mark on his screen.
"I couldn't tell Boyd why I'm here. I can't risk harming the future. I came to destroy the Third Eye Diamond, and that's what I'm going to do." Maria explained and the elevator door opened and she quickly ran out, only to see Webby, Huey, Gyro and Fenton turning a corner, and they quickly noticed her.
"There she is!" Gyro cried, pointing at her and Maria's eyes widened upon seeing her father and hesitated for a moment before she burst into another sprint as Texter held onto her.
"Wait! Don't go!" Fenton cried and Maria felt herself slow down and she turned back to him, but quickly proceeded to run as she felt more tears come up. Maria quickly pushed through the front doors and rushed down the steps. That's when she suddenly she tripped on her own two feet and fell into someone.
"Oh no! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She cried frantically as she tried to stand up, only to fall back into a sitting position.
"Easy lass, are you alright?" Maria froze and looked up to see Scrooge McDuck reaching his hand out and her mouth hung open.
"I...Uh...I'm..."
"STOP HER! SOMEONE STOP HER!" Gyro cried and Maria turned to see him and the others at the top of the steps. Maria quickly ran past Scrooge, Dewey and Louie and rushed down the bridge. There weren't many people on the bridge so it was easy to run without bumping into someone again. Texter turned back to see most of the people she knew were chasing after them. Luckily Fenton had not called out for the Gizmoduck suit, otherwise they would have been caught by now.
"WAIT! COME BACK!"
"WE CAN HELP YOU!"
"DON'T BE SCARED!"
"PLEASE, COME BACK!" Fenton called and Maria felt more tears stream down her face as she turned her head around while still running.
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She cried and turned back forward, only to stop as a car sped by her, had she taken one more step she would have been hit.
"Whoa...that was too close...I forgot...cars don't have the super safety breaks yet." Maria gasped, catching her breath, and turned to see that the triplets, Webby and Boyd were catching up to her. She turned left and rushed down the street and wouldn't stop. Texter then pointed forward and Maria's eyes widened.
"The bus stop!" She rushed and by some miracle the bus was already there. However, there was crowd of people in her way. Maria quickly rushed in the crowd and squeezed past several people, who sneered at her, but she paid them no mind. Meanwhile the ones who followed her found it more difficult to get into the crowd.
"Excuse me, we need to get through and find our friend." Boyd asked politely, but no one paid attention and just went about their day.
"Come on! Move it, we need to get through!" Louie cried in frustration. Meanwhile, Maria and Texter managed to get on the bus before the doors closed and drove off. She ducked away from the windows as she sat down and curled up into a ball. Shaking from exhaustion and fear.
She wanted nothing more than to rush over to her Dad's side, hug him for the rest of her life, and cry her eyes out, but Maria knew deep down that was the last thing she had to do. If she told her father what had happened, she might risk her future not existing. Not only hers, but all of her loved ones were at risk. Maria sniffled and wiped her tears away as Texter looked up at her; a question mark appearing on his screen.
"We have to destroy the Third-Eye Diamond, and the good news is, I know where it is." Maria explained and Texter tilted his head.
"The bad news is...I know where it is..." She muttered and looked out the window in dismay and clutched her necklace in her right fist as he left hand felt the bracelet on her right hand.
"I can't believe it, we lost her!" Huey cried in frustration as Manny, Scrooge, Gyro, and Fenton approached them.
"What do you mean you lost her? She's your age and was wearing a metal backpack!" Gyro exclaimed.
"I know, it's impressive right?" Webby asked and Gyro groaned.
"Why would she run off like that?" Fenton wondered out loud.
"Don't worry Dr. Crackshell-Cabrera, we'll find your daughter." Boyd said and everyone froze in place as Boyd gasped and covered his beak.
"What...what did you say?" Fenton asked slowly and Boyd looked down in shame.
"I'm sorry, when I shook her hand, I was able to read her DNA. And since I've shook your hand before, I knew she was related to you." Boyd explained and Fenton's eyes widened.
"I...I have a daughter...I have a daughter! Wait, but why'd she run away from me? Did we get into a fight? Am I a bad father? Does she not remember me? Why is she here in the past?" Fenton sputtered out and Scrooge placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Easy lad, we can't have you panicking now. I promise we will find your daughter and get her to explain what she is doing here. We won't let anything bad happen to her." He said and Fenton nodded and took a breath.
"Okay, right. Now, where would she have gone?" Fenton questioned and Manny then stomped his hooves a few times.
"Ah, you are right. I believe I have a device that can help track her." Gyro revealed.
"Really? How, you don't have a chip in her do you?" Dewey asked and Gyro shook his head.
"Allow me to explain, when someone goes to the past or the future, their energy signature is different than the ones who are meant to be in that specific time. I have discovered this when I myself have time-traveled. Now that Maria is out of her time..."
"Her energy signature will be easy to track!" Fenton cried in realization.
"Exactly!" Gyro confirmed.
"Then we better hurry and figure out where she went." Scrooge urged and they started to head back to the lab as Scrooge took out his phone.
"I'll call Beakley, Donald and Della, incase she tries to sneak into the mansion." He explained Webby then pulled out her phone.
"I'll tell Violet and Lena too, maybe they'll see her." Webby said and Fenton sighed and reached for his own phone and hesitated.
"I should call my M'ma...she'd kill me if I didn't tell her about this." He dialed on the phone and sighed.
"Please be safe Maria."
Maria had gotten off the bus and carefully made sure she wasn't spotted by anyone who the McDuck family would know. She then quickly rushed down the street and looked up at her destination.
"Funso's Fun Zone..." She mumbled to herself and Texter gave her raised eyebrow look on his screen.
"I don't like it either, but the Third-Eye Diamond was in F.O.W.L headquarters at this time. All we need to do is sneak in, find the diamond, avoid all of the members; including mom and all the Eggheads, get out without raising an alarms, and find a way to keep the diamond away from the wrong hands." Maria explained and Texter folded his arms and shook his head.
"Okay, so it's not a full-proof plan, but it's the best I've got and we don't have much time. Besides, I have you to help, and a little trick up my sleeves." Maria joked, waving her bracelets. Texter then signed 'Okay' and Maria smiled.
"I knew I could count on you. Now let's go!" She cried and rushed inside and her eyes widened in awe.
"Wow, I didn't realize how popular this place was. I never really went here, it was all gone before I was born." Maria told her robot friend.
"Hi kids! Who wants to have some fun?!" A voice called out and Maria gasped and she quickly hid underneath a table and started shaking.
"The Phantom Bolt...I forgot about him..." She whispered in a sacred tone. Texter patted her head and she thought for a moment.
"I can't just sneak past him...he's here to make sure no one discovers the entrance to F.O.W.L...what are we gonna do?" Maria thought for a moment and noticed the door that said; 'Employees Only' and her eyes widened as she got an idea.
"Texter, stay out of sight." She whispered and he gave a thumbs up before ducking behind her hair and Maria took a deep breath to calm herself.
"Okay...improv badge, don't fail me now." She pleaded and got out rom underneath the table and rubbed her eyes, to make it look like she was crying, which she had been so it wasn't that hard to fake. She walked over to the villain in disguise.
"Excuse me, Mr. Funso?" She asked and he turned to her and Maria sniffled.
"I can't find my mommy, and I'm scared." She whimpered and he bent down to face her.
"Aw, don't worry, I'll help you. Where did you last see her last?" He asked and for a moment Maria forgot he was a crazy super-villain.
"I...I don't know...we were walking outside and she was holding my hand and then a crowd went by and she was gone. I don't know what happened." Maria lied as her lip quivered.
"Well don't worry, Funso will help you! Let's take a seat in a magical room and we'll get you mom over here." Funso said and gave his signature giggle.
"R-really?" Maria asked, pretending to look hopeful.
"Of course, let's go!" He cried and took her hand, leading her to the 'Employees Only' room, which only contained a desk, chair, file cabinet and a potted plant in a corner that was slightly wilted.
'Some magic room.' Maria thought dryly as she noticed a stray metal pan used for pizza that had been tossed on the ground. She quickly grabbed it as the Phantom Bolt picked up the phone from the desk and Texter jumped off from Maria's back as she winked at him.
'Thank you Aunt Webby.' She thought as she lifted the pan up, jumped onto the chair and took another big leap in the air.
*BANG*
"I can't believe it, out of the places in Duckburg she could have visited, why here?" Scrooge questioned as he, Fenton, the triplets, Webby, Gyro, Boyd, and Manny walked up to Funso's entrance.
"I don't know why either, but according to the scanner, she's inside." Gyro shrugged as he took another look at the scanner. Fenton adjusted his duffel bag, holding the Gizmoduck suit as he gave a hardened look.
"It doesn't matter why she's here, we have to talk to her. Maybe you should let me go by myself. She might listen to me." Fenton reasoned and Scrooge nodded.
"Seems reasonable lad, but we'll remain by the exit just in case." He said and Fenton gave a signal nod before opening the doors and scanning the area, only to see no sign of Maria.
"Where is she?" He asked worriedly.
"In the ball pit? It is easy to get stuck in." Webby suggested and Fenton was about to rush over to the play area when a door burst open and Maria rushed out with a frantic look on her face.
"Help! Someone help! Funso passed out!" She cried and everyone stopped what they were doing and rushed over to her.
"What happened?" Someone asked.
"He was helping me...and then he started coughing and clutching his chest. I-I think he had a heart attack! He won't wake up!" She whimpered and pointed to the room where a crowd was gathering around.
"Funso's dead?!" Dewey cried, starting to panic and Huey cut him off.
"Technically a heart attack doesn't mean he'll die, though there may be significant damage to his heart..."
"Wait, where's Maria going?" Boyd asked and they turned to see Maria rushing over to the ball pit and climbing in. Fenton quickly rushed after her, determined not to let her escape this time.
"Maria! Stop!" He cried and Maria turned her head, but quickly went deeper into the ball pit and started to look around for an entrance to F.O.W.L headquarters, but Fenton followed her in the ball pit and started walking towards her.
"Maria, I'm serious. You need to come with me, now." He said sternly.
"I can't...I'm so close!" She protested as she kept looking to no avail. Fenton bent down and gently turned her around so she faced him. Texter quickly jumped off her back and dove into the ball pit.
"Maria, listen to me. I'm worried about you and I want to help you, but I can't do that unless you tell me what's going on." He said and Maria's eyes widened and face-palmed.
"Gah, hand shaking DNA reader...I forgot about that. You weren't supposed to know!"
"Well, I do, and I'm sorry, but the fact doesn't change that you aren't telling me what's wrong. Please Maria." Fenton pleaded and Maria opened her mouth to respond, but the image of her father being pinned down by the robots and cracking his visor like it was nothing flashed into her mind, causing tears to stream down her face.
How could she tell her Dad that he died?
Texter then popped out from the ball pit and gestured for Maria to follow him, she spotted him from the corner of her eye and looked back at her Dad's smiling face.
"I'm sorry, you don't understand!" She cried and closed her eyes as she shoved Fenton away, who fell over due to the shock, and Maria dove in after Texter. Fenton clenched his fist and made sure he had a firm grip on his duffle bag strap before diving after her.
"Someone call 911!" Jane cried and another employee took out their phone and dialed as Jane walked over to 'Funso' and bent down.
"He's out cold." She said and Scrooge, the triplets, Webby, Boyd, Gyro and Manny were behind her. Jane then removed the mask and gasped in horror, seeing the Phantom Bolt was really the one under the mask.
"What in the blazes, him again?!" Scrooge cried and twirled his cane as Jane backed away.
"Who the heck is that?" Dewey asked.
"What is that?" Louie asked, in slight disgust.
"The Phantom Bolt, a strange and powerful creature who Uncle Scrooge fought long ago, but he hasn't been seen in years." Webby explained.
"Has he been Funso this whole time?! That, is creepy." Huey said.
"Hang on." Scrooge then picked up a dented metal pan. "This was no accident..."
"Did Maria do that?" Boyd asked.
"She must have known that Funso was really the Phantom Bolt." Huey concluded.
"Yeah, but why knock him out though. She could have been caught." Dewey added and Louie's eyes widened and turned to the ball pit.
"She needed a distraction..."
Maria fell down the tube with a thud and groaned. Texter was quick to follow her down and she caught him in her arms and rushed out of the end of the tube by using the hidden door and Fenton fell head first on the concrete ground she winced, but quickly turned and rushed off. Fenton, however, managed to compose himself and chased after her, grabbing Maria's wrist.
"Hold it right there young lady. I know I'm not technically your Dad, yet...I still have a few years, but I am still in some sense your father. We are leaving right now...from this...strange and ominous base that is underneath a play area for some reason..." Fenton's voice trailed off when he realized that they were not in the most friendly looking place.
"Okay, where are...?"
"Did you hear something?" A voice asked and Maria gasped and quickly grabbed Fenton's hand and dragged him into a hallway and pressed against the opposite wall that the voices were coming from and Fenton did the same. Two egghead soldiers were walking side by side, weapons drawn and looked around.
"Could've sworn I heard something...it sounded like an angry dad." One said as the other scoffed.
"You gotta work on your daddy issues man, everyone knows about it, and it's making you crazy." The other replied as they kept on walking past Maria and Fenton. Once they were out of ear shot, Maria sighed in relief.
"Maria, where are we?" Fenton asked and Maria looked over at Texter, who's screen flashed a deadpanned look, knowing full well that they were busted. Maria sighed and looked at her Dad.
"I didn't know how to say this...but..."
"Will you leave me alone for once?!" A familiar voice cried and Maria's eyes widened and turned. Fenton glared, thinking she was just using this as an excuse.
"Oh no, you aren't getting out of this! You are going to tell me..."
"Ssh!" Maria shushed and quickly rushed out of the hallway and Fenton could do nothing but follow her. The voice then became louder, and it was arguing with another.
"All we did was talk!"
"Yeah, and you got a date with that loser hero."
"That is not even any of your business, stupid."
"Don't call me stupid!"
"Stop being stupid, and maybe I will!" Fenton's eyes widened as he and Maria made their way to an area that was circular and looked to be the main room. They were hiding behind a strange machine and peeked over at the figures arguing.
"Gandra?" He whispered in disbelief. There she was, glaring at a rooster with a metal beak and a heron with a metal arm and red dress was to the side and had her arms crossed in frustration.
"You've been getting awfully chummy with Gizmodork, and I don't like the idea of you two being chummy." Steelbeak glared and Gandra rolled her eyes.
"Since when should I care what you think?" She spat and Steelbeak growled and clenched his fists.
"Perhaps not, but you should care about what the High Command thinks." Black Heron commented and Gandra tensed up and turned to her.
"You really think they'd care?" She asked and Fenton glanced to Maria, who was focused on the scene and Texter had a grumpy face on his screen and was silently waving his fist in anger.
"Well it seems to me that you are way to interested in him as of late. One could even assume, you are telling him everything about us. Seems quite simple, if you did betray F.O.W.L, then seeking help from Gizmoduck would be the best option for you. It's pretty clear he would protect you from us." Black Heron explained and Gandra's eyes widened.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" She denied and started to walk away. "I don't need to take this." Steelbeak then stood in front of her and grabbed her arm.
"Where do you think you're going? We aren't done here." He smirked and then lifted Gandra up from the floor.
"Let go you idiot!" Gandra cried, struggling from his grip and Steelbeak glared darkly and tightened his grip on her.
"Call me that one more time, I DARE you." He threatened. Maria then stood up and nodded to Texter, who hopped onto her head and held on and she held up her right wrist to her beak.
"Maria, what are you doing?" Fenton asked.
"Blathering blatherskite." She whispered and the next moments happened so fast.
Maria's necklace and bracelets started to glow and seemed to extend into an outer shell against her. It was gray armor with red around her hands and shoulders, the Gizmoduck logo on her chest and a helmets that covered her head and beak with a red glass over her eyes. Texter and the condensed time-tub on Maria's back seemed to provide extra armor for her.
"Wha-what?" Fenton asked, but Maria said nothing and, with great speed, jumped over to Steelbeak and kicked him in the back.
"GAH!" He yelped, dropping Gandra as he fell forward and turned to see Maria standing behind him.
"Who the heck are you?" He asked and Maria said nothing, just got into a defensive stance and he charged towards her, aiming a fist, but she quickly dodged it last minute and kicked him again. He fell on the ground and clenched his fists.
"Oh real cute kid! I'm warning you...back off now and you'll walk out of here with all your limbs attached." Steelbeak threatened, cracking his knuckles. Maria just stood in front of Gandra and her eyes narrowed, making in clear that she wasn't backing down.
"Have it your way." Steelbeak sneered and reached his fist back.
"BLATHERING BLATHERSKITE!" Fenton cried and everyone turned to see Gizmoduck wheeling towards them, punching Steelbeak in the side of his face, knocking him down. Maria grabbed Gandra's arm and started to pull her away, but Black Heron blocked their path and pointed a weapon at them.
"I should have known you were weak." She sneered and Gandra glared back.
"Are you crazy?! She's just a kid!" Gandra exclaimed.
"A child that knows our hideout and can clearly handle herself. Last chance Gandra Dee, it's F.O.W.L, or you demise." Black Heron warned as the weapon started to charge up. Gandra looked down at Maria and to Gizmoduck, who looked just as confused. She looked down to the ground and sighed.
"I guess I have no choice." She said and walked over to Black Heron, Maria reached for her, but Gandra was already right in front of Black Heron.
"Smart choice." Black Heron smirked, Gizmoduck looked disheartened, but Gandra looked Black Heron straight in the eyes with an icy glare.
"I agree." She spat, and quickly electrocuted the inventor's metal limp, causing her to scream and fall to the ground.
"Let's get out of here!" Gandra cried and Maria smiled underneath her suit, but it quickly turned into shock when an alarm went off and Steelbeak chuckled. He was leaning against a wall and his hand had pressed an alarm button.
"Try getting out now idiots! Hahahaha!" He cackled and Maria glared as she started signing something to him and he just stared in confusion.
"What...what is that? What's with the weird gesture?" He questioned.
"I believe she just called you 'stupid' in sign language." Gandra smirked and Steelbeak glared. Gizmoduck then noticed the Eggheads rushing towards them and yelped before rolling over to the other two.
"We have to get out of here, now!" He cried and Maria looked around before spotting a certain door and tugged on Gandra's arm.
"What's up kid?" She asked and Maria pointed to the door.
"Good thinking, come on suit!" Gandra cried and Gizmoduck followed them through the door into a darkened room. Gandra then used a panel to shut the door, and typed in a code.
"Lock down engaged." A robotic voice reported and Gizmoduck looked around in confusion.
"Where are we?" He asked, and the lights suddenly went on ,revealing several boats that were in the water and Maria was already in one of them and ripped a panel off to reveal the wiring and started fiddling with them as Gandra tugged on Gizmoduck's arm.
"It's the boat room. Now come on, that code won't last for long!" She urged and the climbed into the boat and Gandra nudged Maria away from the panel.
"Nice work, but we don't need to do that." Gandra smirked and used her electricity to activate the boat's engine. She took the controls and started pulling out as an explosion was heard and the three turned to see Steelbeak with a bunch of Eggheads by the now collapsed door.
"Hey, that's my boat!" He cried and Gandra quickly drove the boat out of the cave as Steelbeak continued to yell and scream at them. Maria looked back and gave the 'loser signal' to him, only making Steelbeak scream more.
Gandra drive the boat down the bay and sighed heavily and looked over to a screen that revealed a map.
"We should make it to McDuck manor soon, you two should warn them as soon as possible about F.O.W.L." She said and Fenton removed his helmet and looked at her with confusion.
"What about you?" He asked and she chuckled.
"Me? I'm getting as far away as possible. F.O.W.L sees my as a traitor, and the McDuck's will see my as an enemy. So I have to go into hiding." She explained and Fenton placed a hand on her shoulder.
"You don't have to leave...I...I trust you." He insisted and Gandra looked at him funny.
"Really? Cause I wouldn't."
"Well I do! You just saved us, you were given the chance to stay with them, but you didn't! You helped us...and I know that's who you are. S-so if they distrust you, then they just have to deal with that!" Fenton insisted and Gandra's eyes widened and cracked a small smile.
"That's actually pretty reassuring. Thanks." She replied and Maria's suit started to revert back to the bracelets and necklace, catching their attention, Texter hopped onto her hands and looked over at Fenton and Gandra. He waved and gave a smiling face on his screen, but Fenton glared.
"Maria, what were you thinking?! Do you realize that you could have been seriously hurt, or worse?! First you run away from us without an explanation, then you pushed me away when I was trying to help you, and then you put yourself in direct harms way back there! What on Earth made you think that any of this was a good idea? Do you know how worried I was about you?! You could have been hurt or maybe even killed! What do you have to say for yourself?!" Fenton scolded and Maria could hardly get a word in.
All throughout his yelling she could not tear her gaze from his angry eyes. Sure, he's been mad at her before, but it was never like this! Maria's breath started to quicken as her chest heaved. Texter turned to Maria in concern and Maria eventually closed her eyes as she whimpered.
'Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry, you're not a baby anymore! Don't cry, don't cry, don't...' Maria thought to herself and opened her eyes to look at Fenton's glare again. Traitorous tears then flowed out of her eyes and she started crying heavily and jumped onto Fenton's chest, clinging to his chest as more tears came.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." She whimpered and Fenton's gaze softened, and he slowly wrapped his arms around her gently and she only tightened her grip on him.
"Ssh...Maria...it's okay. It's gonna be okay." Fenton whispered calmly and Maria felt herself go limp and relax under his hold. He rubbed her head gently and looked over to Gandra and it suddenly clicked for him as to why Maria had risked her life.
She was saving her family.
He pushed that feeling down and looked back down at his future daughter, scared and exhausted. Texter walked over and patted her head. Fenton then turned to Gandra.
"Let's get to McDuck Manor."
Steelbeak groaned as he stormed through the base, not only was their base compromised, and his boat was taken, but Gandra had become a traitor and now he had to report the incident to high command! Lucky him.
"Urg, if I get my hands on that Gizmodork and that little bratty sidekick of his, they are going to pay." He vowed.
"That can be arranged." A voice replied coolly and Steelbeak froze and turned his head in multiple directions.
"Who are you?" He asked and a figure walked out of the shadows as he chuckled.
"I'm a friend that may be able to help you." He explained and Steelbeak raised his eyebrow with curiosity.
"I'm listening."
"You see, that brat you speak of is someone who I am currently...looking for. Perhaps we can work together on this. You help me get the girl, and in return, I help you." The figure offered and Steelbeak crossed is arms suspiciously.
"I don't know, what exactly can you offer me?" He asked.
"Well, you name it, and I'll help you. Perhaps even, an entire robot army at your disposal?" The man snapped his fingers and the robots of the future appeared form behind him and Steelbeak grinned happily.
"Oh-ho! You got yourself a deal!" Steelbeak smirked and reached at his hand which the man shook. Sealing the deal.
"Pleasure doing business with you Steelbeak, call me Akita."
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Dun, dun, dun! What do you guys think? Did anyone see that coming? I did, but I'm the author, so...yeah I always knew.
Really hop you all liked this chapter. I enjoyed writing it, and it became a lot longer than I intended. Hopefully you all enjoyed this chapter.
And Happy Pride Month! I feel bad that I didn't say that in the last chapter. It's an important month and we should all appreciate it!
So lets give a shout out to Violet's and Lena's Dads! Indy and Ty Saberwing! I loved how much they cared for both Lena and Violet in their debut episode. Hopefully we will see more of them soon.
And I liked their shirts way more then I probably should have. I wanna bet that Violet got them those on their anniversary, but that's just my feeling.
Anyway, please, please, PLEASE, leave a review! They make my dad and I would love to know what you guys think so far! It would mean so much to me!
Now let's answer the reviews from our first chapter! Thanks again guys!
LunaWolf44 (Guest): Ohmygosh! Your commented was so sweet! I'm so glad you like Maria's design. I feel very lucky that the bracelets and necklace were an option. I was planing her suit for a while, and those little details just made them better. Fun Fact: Maria can't talk when she is in her suit because it covers her beak (Fenton is an over protective Daddy, let's face it) so she can't speak, unlike Fenton in the Gizmosuit.
GiddyReflections: Glad you are interested in the story, hopefully this chapter was wort the wait for you!
