Almost a week later, Spencer's mom has arranged a special surprise for Spencer and Aria.
Mrs Hastings has reserved the entire Rosewood Town Library and Archive for an entire day for her youngest daughter and her daughter's best friend.
Usually most kids would want a day at an amusement park or toy store or something like that, but not Aria and Spencer.
They are a bit more mature than most kids their age and love to read wonderful classic books so a day with a whole library to themselves is awesome for them.
It is a really good Sparia day.
Of course Sparia is a term that Spencer will not create until several years later, but a Sparia day is still indeed what it is.
"Hmm, I'll start with...this book." says Aria as she grab the book 'Never China again' by Laura O'Neil.
"Nice. I'm going to read this one." says Spencer as she grab the book 'The Winter that She couldn't forget' by Madame Wilma DeCourte.
There's French tea and Irish cookies on the table for Aria and Spencer to drink and eat.
Mrs Hastings trust them so she let them be alone in the library without an adult to watch them.
"So wonderful that your mom made this happen for us, Spencer." says Aria.
"Yeah, it's so amazing. Very good." says Spencer.
Both girls are happy.
And they also both wear mostly black clothes today.
"Let's make the most of this." says Aria.
"Indeed, my friend." says Spencer.
Spencer and Aria read in positive sweet silence.
2 hours later, they've finished the books they were reading.
Aria switch to 'Love and Pain' by Nicole Green.
Spencer switch to 'Mist in the South' by Amanda Truaado.
"Ever read this book in particular, Aria?" says Spencer.
"No. What's it about?" says Aria.
"You should read it yourself sometime. I don't wanna spoil it for you." says Spencer.
"Okay. So sweet." says Aria.
"Of course. You're my best friend so I help out whenever I can." says Spencer.
"Thank ya, Spencer." says Aria.
"Pretty much anything for you." says Spencer.
Aria blush a bit.
4 hours later.
"Just gotta pee." says Aria as she go to the bathroom.
"I'll be waiting over here." says Spencer.
When Aria return from the bathroom, Spencer has picked out a book for her that she think Aria should read.
"You like books about the fall, right? Then you might enjoy this." says Spencer.
"Thanks." says Aria, all cute.
The book Spencer found for Aria is 'If leaves could talk' by Emma Jenkins.
Usually kids of Aria and Spencer's age wouldn't read such a book, but they love books like that a lot.
Some people might also not even let kids that young read it, but Spencer's parents and Aria's parents allow their kids to read almost anything they want, as long as it's not actual raw XXX stuff.
Aria starts to read the book and Spencer continue to read another one.
Once again it seems, if only for a brief moment, that Spencer and Aria are much more than simply best buddies.
They look deep into each other's eyes and smile in pure happiness.
"Awww!" says Aria.
"Yeah." says Spencer.
Both girls then return their attention to the books.
Spencer and Aria have a very good time, getting to read amazing books all day.
5 hours later.
"Hi, girls. Did you have fun?" says Mrs Hastings when she show up to get Spencer and Aria.
"Yes, mother. Aria and I have had a most magnificent day." says Spencer.
"Good. Let's clean up here and then we'll go home." says Mrs Hastings.
2 weeks later.
"And now I'll let you kids know that only two students in the room got A plus on last week's big Math test and those two are...Spencer Hastings...and...Aria Montgomery." says Melody Carter, the Math teacher.
"Thanks, Mrs Carter." says Spencer and Aria.
Spencer and Aria are both very happy.
"Let's see here...6 kids got B plus and those are Nikki Picard, Kim Davids, Emma Laurensen, Noel Kahn, Vicky Scarlet and Nelly Thomson." says Mrs Carter.
Noel try to hide his anger at not getting an A or A plus.
His attempt at hiding the anger fail, since Mrs Carter notice how angry he is.
The same day after school.
"We both got A plus." says Aria.
"Yes, that's why it's important to study." says Spencer.
"So true." says Aria.
They go to the ice cream bar and celebrate with some yummy ice cream.
Aria eat strawberry ice cream and Spencer eat cherry ice cream.
"How do you get A plus so easy?" says Noel as he suddenly appear behind Spencer.
"Simple. I study and is a smart good girl." says Spencer without even looking at Noel.
Unhappy with that answer, Noel walk away.
Aria sigh in relief at Noel leaving.
She is a bit afraid of him, since he is sort of a bully.
On the other hand, Spencer is not afraid of him, but he seem to sometimes be really afraid of her.
"I don't like Noel." says Aria.
"I understand. He's not nice." says Spencer.
"True. He love to bully other kids, such as Hanna, for example. He often bully her." says Aria.
"Yes. He should learn to be good." says Spencer.
"Yup." says Aria.
Aria and Spencer switch focus to the ice cream, eating in comfortable silence.
They think it's a bit weird that they are two of very few kids in the ice cream bar today. It's a beautiful day.
Usually there'd be plenty of kids here on days like this.
Spencer and Aria assume that perhaps most kids don't have their pocket money at the time and as such cannot get ice cream.
Suddenly 3 kids enter the ice cream bar.
Aria and Spencer know who those kids are, having seen them a few times at school.
The kids are Eddy Green, Zorah McBride and Kevin Hawk.
Of course, being the smart one, Spencer know that these are the names of the 3 kids.
Aria know the names of Eddy and Zorah, but not Kevin.
"Cool. Some more kids." says Aria.
"Yeah. Guess we're not the only ones in mood for some ice cream, after all." says Spencer.
"Very true, my friend." says Aria.
