[bicu]Chapter 5
[icu]Saturday 9:02 AM
[ic]Luminescence walked out of his room and into the plaza. There at the gates, as she said, stood Farren, waiting on Lumi.
[ic]"Hey Fare!" he shouted, running over to her.
[ci]"Huh? Oh hey, ready to go Lum?"
[ic]"Yeah!"
[ic]"Then let's head off, to the greenwoods' spring. It's quite a walk, hope you don't mind."
[ic]"Of course."
[ic]The Umbreon followed behind Farren as she left the castle. The two headed off into the northern woods.
[ic]"Have you been to Inailum Kingdom?" lumi asked.
[ci]"No, however I've heard about it. Our Kingdoms both working together. Both of our Kingdoms living in such a way is how we both obtain peace and prosperity. I've noticed the lack of guards and knights around but of course, that's why the other Kingdom exists. For backup and support. The only issue is, if something really bad was to happen, then the other Kingdom's knights might not get here on time. Even if they do, that only leaves Inailum vulnerable, or us vulnerable if they're the ones under attack."
[ic]"I want to re-establish magic in the kingdom of Ezaneian. To help everyone raise our defenses. To find more ways to ensure everyone's safety. I didn't tell you this yesterday but Sombra is my father. Oh and, his name isn't Sombra, it's Nocturne. Soon, I'll be the new king of Ezaneian Kingdom and I want to let people know that they'll be completely safe when I start setting up better defenses. I also want to make it a requirement for knights to learn magic before moving on to the next rank. Therefore, We'll have way better defenses, way better troops."
[ic]"Is that why you wanted to learn magic? It's.. A pretty noble reason. Just don't let the power of being a King get to you. I've heard a lot about Anpu, the king of Inailum and he's..Not the nicest person to be around."
[ic]"Right, I don't plan to be anything like that. I'm honestly a little worried about it, I've told this to my friends countless times. The one thing I fear, is being treated differently by the citizens of Ezaneian Kingdom. Being looked upon as if I were some sort of god, or even worse, people being afraid of me. That's..Not what I want."
[ic]Farren gave him a worried expression.
[ci]"Have you been worried about this whole time? You do realize you don't have to wear anything super royal right? You'd appear as everyone else, a normal umbreon. People might know you're the king, but still. As long as you're maybe, talking to people, helping the kingdom and showing everyone that you truly care for their safety.. People won't fear you, and they won't treat you any more or any less."
[ic]"Yeah, you're probably right. I shouldn't be getting so worried over something that hasn't even happened yet. I need to focus. Since I'm going to be learning magic, I need to give it my utmost attention."
[ic]".. Right. Just try not to think about it too much."
[icu]12:19 PM
[ic]Farren walked down the long stairs and into the spring. Two small waterfalls poured into the sides behind a statue of some weird creature. Six pillars stood in the water on the sides of the statue. Lumine followed her down the stairs and looked around at the pretty scenery.
[ic]"Here we are, Nihena Spring." Announced Farren, turning to see lumi's reaction.
[ic]"I'll admit.. It's beautiful. The scenery and waterfalls are really calming.. Although I do have one question.. who's that supposed to be?" he asked, pointing to the statue infront of them.
[ci]"Oh. That's Nihena. She's the goddess that watches over our Kingdoms."
[ic]"People come here to pray to Nihena almost every day, I guess we lucked out huh?"
[ic]".. Uh, yeah." lumine said, not believing in the goddess.
[ic]"Magic right..? Can we start practicing?"
[ic]"Oh right, yeah of course."
[ic]Farren flipped open the book she brought along with her, to the spells.
[ic]"Here we go. I have the beginner's spells here so..It looks like we're starting with levitation magic."
[ic]"Right." Lumi nodded
[ic]"Let's get started." He smiled slightly
[ic]Farren instructed him how to perform the magic, before closing the book and sitting it down. Lumi followed her orders. He focused his attention on the book and all of it's properties.
[ic]Lumine was left with the same results as Elvira. He'd pant, and wind up completely exhausted from just trying to use magic.
[ic]"H-hey lumi- are you-"
[ic]Lumi sighed, with exhaustion in his voice.
[ic]"I'm fine!- I've just- never really practiced with magic before."
[Ic]Farren looked at him with a confused expression.
[ic]"The first time I've tried to learn magic, it didn't leave me panting. Dazed sure, but not out of breath.. If you're feeling tired we can stop-"
[ic]"Well, we came all this way. I don't want to quit now, it's probably alright. Let me try again, please."
[ic]He began concentrating again on the book, focusing on it's components, and eventually lifting it into the air with obvious struggle. He felt somewhat dazed and weak but kept his grip and attention on the book. After around twenty seconds passed, he carefully sat it down and let out a huge gasp, breathing in and out hard, and very slowly catching his breath.
[ic]Farren looked at the book, and back at lumine.
[ic]"... You got it!"
[ic]She smiled at him, though.. It took a little more effort then it should have. That confused her a little, but she brushed it off.
[ic]"S-see?"
[ic]"I'm.. I'm down to put in all the effort Farren. Please, continue to teach me magic. Let's move on to the next spell. I'm ready."
[ic]Farren was going to recommend that he practice with the first one for a while longer.. Then she noticed the determined smile on his face, a thought crossed her mind. Lumine had learned the first spell rather fast. He was also to use magic to make their Kingdom a better place, however, it would be a while before he became King..or, so she thought.
[ic]"Yeah..! Of course lumi! Next spell." She flipped the page
[ciu]Inailum Kingdom
[ci]Elvira walked into the plaza, gripping her book to her chest. She looked into the sky, the beautiful blue sky with many clouds. Elvira turned to see Amora walking up to her with a concerned expression.
[ic]"How are you handling it?" Amora asked quietly.
[ic]"Your.. father's death?.."
[ic]"I'm.."
[ic]Elvira hesitated. She smiled slightly.
[ic]"I'm fine Amora, thank you for asking though."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"I know you're worried about me but, I'm really doing fine. Let's change the subject and enjoy our day okay?"
[ic]Amora smiled at Elvira.
[ic]"Yeah of course!.. Should we go back to learning magic?"
[ic]"Yes, of course. By the way, there's something I need to ask you. Lately you've haven't been around as much. Why?"
[ci]"What do you mean?"
[ic]"I mean I haven't seen you as much lately. Yesterday, I didn't even see you at all."
[ci]"I'm sorry, I've been really caught up recently, and yesterday I had to head to Nihena's Spring."
[ic]"I see. You didn't invite me because I'm not allowed to go that far out into the forest right?"
[ic]Amora nodded
[ic]"Sorry if it seemed like I was avoiding you. I really try to hang out with you as much as possible but I've been getting caught up recently"
[ic]"I- I understand, I'm going to be same way soon. Being a queen and all, I've too many tasks to fulfill." she responded, in a sombre tone.
[ic]Amora gave her a smile.
[ic]"Elvira, I'm sure we'll still find some time to hang out. We're friends after all. We'll make time to see each other."
[ic]Amora gave off her usual happy expression, full of joy, hope, without worry.
[ic]Elvira remained silent, thinking to herself and repeating Amora's words in her head. She dropped the book against the concrete, as she leaned close to Amora and connected their lips with a kiss.
[ic]Amora had wanted to break the silence, but was cut off when Elvira suddenly kissed her. A blush spread across her face as Elvira suddenly leaned in and kissed her. When Elvira had pulled away, there was a long, awkward silence between the two. Elvira took a step back, blushing, she hid her face as she realized what she had done.
[ic]"Elvira."
[ic]"I'm.. I'm really sorry."
[ic]"I-" Amora seemed to struggle with speaking for a moment. She found her voice, however it was quiet, frail, a whisper.
[ic]".. I'm not.. I don't.. swing that way.. And I'm.. I'm with Sombra now.."
[ic]"..S-S..ombra?" She asked, sharing the same pained tone with Amora, though Elvira's voice was broken, and stuttering.
[ic]"..Yeah. Elvira.." Amora reached out to Elvira, who took another step back. Elvira turned and ran back into the castle. Amora watched her go, remaining silent with a solemn expression.
[ic]As Elvira entered her room, she wiped the tears from her eyes, and threw the book at the wall, causing it to come apart, pages flew everywhere. She, not caring about the book, walked over to her bed and lay down to try and get some sleep. Her thoughts focused on Amora and Sombra, Sombra.
[ic]Sombra.
[ic]Amora had been with Sombra for a while now and she hadn't even noticed. Her claws dug into her pillow.
[ic]'Sombra' is all she thought, before she dozed off.
[icu]The following week. 5:42 AM
[ic]Elvira was already up, the only one in the plaza, apart from guards and the few knights.. She looked into the sky at the moon, a full moon tonight. Slowly, she walked towards the castle's gates and departed into the woods, north, towards Ezaneian Kingdom.
[icu]12:39 PM
[IC]As Elvira reached Ezaneian castle, she made her way through the gates and into the plaza where everyone gathered. She'd only been to Ezaneian once, twice now. The amount of people that gathered there surprised her. She frowned, walking through the plaza and towards the library, but was stopped by someone grabbing her shoulder. She looked over to see who it was.
[ic]"Ryuku..?"
[ic]"How did you get here?.." The Jolteon asked, frowning at her.
[ic]"..I walked."
[ic]"By yourself..? Without a guard or a knight to escort you? You could've gotten hurt or killed! At the very least, you could've walked with-"
[ic]"Ryuku.."
[ic]".. Please, just tell me where the library is.."
[ic]"I was.."
[ic]"...I accidentally broke the book I used for magic. I just.. I need to see if this castle has that book."
[ic]"Elvira-" Ryuku stopped to think.
[ic]He let out a sigh. He waved as he walked past her. Elvira slowly followed behind the Jolteon to the library. Then Elvira stopped him again.
[ic]"No, Ryuku, I need to see the archives. The private library that's only available to knights, and the king."
[ic]"You used a book from the archives over in your kingdom??" Ryuku asked, giving her a suspicious look.
[ic] Elvira let out a long, and tired sigh, clearly exhausted from the journey. It felt like her legs were going to give out any second.
[ic]"Just take me to the archives and I'll explain there. Please."
[ic]Ryuku studied her for a moment.
[ic]"Elvira- I..Damnit. Fine."
[ic]Ryuku led Elvira into the castle, as an escort and to the hidden archives. As they entered, Elvira headed directly over to the section in the back. She got out a large, black book and sat it on one of the tables.
[ic]Ryuku watched her get the book from the shelf. Then he realized what book she grabbed. As he got a closer look at the front cover, he realized she had the book for Crepuscular Magic.
[ic]"Elvira!- That's!!--
[ic]She nodded slowly
[ic]"I know, Crepuscular Magic. Dark Magic. Shadow Magic. Pure, malicious energy. I've been studying this for a while in small amounts to make sure I wouldn't be affected by it's potency. I'm.. I'm fine."
[ci]"Elvira-" Ryuku hesitated.
[ic]"I'll be careful. I've always been. I've read from this thing for weeks and I'm perfectly fine."
[ci]The Jolteon let out a sigh, Crepuscular Magic was banned from Ezaneian Kingdom. However, Ryuku was an old friend of Elvira. He'd known her ever since she was a child and they haven't gotten to seen each other very much recently. He couldn't tell Sombra about Elvira because the king might send her to execution. That's usually what happens to everyone who tries studying the dark chapters. Crepuscular is the most dangerous magic in the entire Kingdom. One single creature who knows Crepuscular magic, could kill all of them in mere seconds.
[ic]He also didn't take the book away from Elvira himself because..
[ic]Well.. What she said was right. If she had been studying this magic for so long and had not been corrupted then.. He just didn't want to see Elvira sad. The jolteon took the seat next to her.
[ic]"At least.. I'll help you. The spells in the book get more complicated as you read on."
[ic]"They don't require any effort to learn, that's what the book states."
[ic]"For the earliest spells they don't. They're pretty effortless. Once you read further, you'll find certain spells that aren't in the normal magic books. They, require effort. I'll help you with them, so.."
[ic]"How do you know so much about the book if you're against Crepuscular Magic?"
[ic]"I just kind of skimmed through one day when I was bored."
[ic]Elvira stared at him for a moment, before turning to look back at the book.
[ic]"Okay.."
[ic]Deep in Ezaneian woods, Luminescence and Aaron walked next to each other. The two friends had traveled deep within the forests on their patrol. Today, Lumi had taken Ryuku's place, and Aaron took Rose's.
[ic]"I never get tired of seeing these woods." Lum said, looking around at the scenery that enveloped them.
[ic]"Ezaneian is so peaceful. We rarely get attacked and even so, the attackers are always weak. I don't mean to sound like a tyrant, by calling others weak but.. It's honestly kind of surprising, you'd think we'd see more activity. It's so peaceful, that it's concerning."
[ci]"It's been like that for years dude. Ever since I was born, in this Kingdom, it's always been peaceful. The only issue we have is exiled citizens trying to sneak in, and thieves. Apart from that, nothing really happens here."
[ic]"I'd be lying if I said it didn't get boring. Then again everyone is safe so.. That makes me happy."
[ic]"Oh? Yeah." Aaron laughed.
[ic]"I'm with ya dude, sometimes I just wish there was something to fight."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"I.. I'm worried about the following week. I'll be announced king then, it feels .. Surreal. I don't think I'm cut out to be a king, it's all being forced on to me so fast. I have to adapt I'm aware, yet.. I was never a very organized Umbreon..So keeping notes on everything that goes on around Ezaneian is going to be.. Nearly impossible."
[ic]"Just have faith dude. I'm sure everything will go smoothly, you just need to relax. Take your mind off of it, try not to think too hard about it. I remember when I was becoming a knight, my first day on training, I was terrified. I was really worried I'd make a terrible knight, and they'd let me go right on the spot. However, even if I was nervous, I slowly grew more and more comfortable with it. Isn't that what happened when you became a knight here?"
[ic]"Dude." lumi said
[ic]"I've only been here for a few weeks, or maybe a month in total. Imagine becoming a king in one, singular month."
[ci]"There's not much activity that goes on here Lumi, as I said earlier. You won't need to keep tabs on hundreds of enemies since we..well we have none, besides the exiled, which is only around..Twenty people. Ryuku, Rose, and me will all keep an eye out for them. As for the thieves, the guards are well trained so no need to worry about that. It'll be even easier, practically child's play when you find yourself a Queen."
[ci]Lumi laughed at that last sentence.
[iuc]5:25 PM
[ic]Elvira quietly read from the book with Ryuku studying the chapters and spells she was learning. Her eyes focused on each and every word, as she read the pages.
[ic]"You do know of the goddess, Nihena right? Her spring sits within the greenwood, in Astrana province."
[ic]"I do, the one who blessed both of our Kingdoms with peace and prosperity. Yeah, I am aware of her."
[ic]"Without the goddess's blessing, we might not even be here right now. Do you think Nihena's blessings work for Crepuscular Magic? Of course we won't be seeing monsters soon, at least I hope so. But those are monsters, I wonder if her blessings on Inailum and Ezaneian work and protect those who dare try to learn Crepuscular magic. If it stops them from being corrupted. I've never experienced the magic myself, we've never had anyone try to learn it as it's off limits, actually it's banned in our Kingdoms. Those who try to learn it will be executed without question."
[ic]"I've read some stories on it Ryu. There are tales of a Kingdom that once existed here long before this one, with a king and a queen. A royal family, cursed by greed and hatred. Here is gathered the bloody history of greed and hatred for the ancient Kingdom. It's name, long forgotten. The royal family had wanted to harness dark magic, as their food supplies were dwindling. Attack, after attack was launched on the kingdom. Desperate, they resorted to the dark energy we know as Crepuscular Magic. A magic that has the power to grant eternal life. Their crops flourished, the attackers were quickly annihilated. That does not mean they were safe though. Over time, they got greedier and greedier, learning more and more of the magic without putting much thought into the consequences. They even went so far as to attack other kingdoms, for more and more land. Of course, this is why none of these kingdoms exist anymore apart from ours. This energy had wiped out many, many, many kingdoms. Until.. There was none left."
[ic]Ryuku continued for her.
[ic]"The Crepuscular energy got to their minds and tore the family apart. They destroyed the kingdom amongst themselves."
[ic]"Indeed. The goddess was the one who defeated the shadow dwellers."
[ic]"That's why it's so banned, right Elvira? Because it has the power to obliterate and destroy everything."
[ic]"Right."
[ic]"I don't plan on becoming one of them though. They were known as the Interlopers at their rise, and before their fall."
[ic]Ryuku seemed to go into a deep thought.
[ic]'Sombra. Did Sombra build on to the ancient Kingdom? Did he find the ruins and build Ezaneian? Or.. No-Was he.. Was he the king of the ancient Kingdom? It wouldn't make sense. I read the same story, the kingdom had been destroyed over an eon ago. If he was the King, how would he even be alive? Sombra isn't ageless.'
[ic]'The royal family knew dark magic though. The ancient energy that plagued the kingdom so long ago.'
[ic]"Ryuku?" Elvira suddenly asked, catching his attention.
[ic]"I plan to stay in Ezaneian for a few days. Or maybe a week or two before I head back to Inailum. Is there maybe an inn around here? Or just somewhere I can stay?"
[ic]Ryuku gave her a curious expression before nodding.
[ic]"Yeah. There is actually."
[ic]The jolteon handed the girl some money, enough for her own room for a week at least.
[ic]"Thank you, Ryuku."
[ic]"..Why are you staying so long anyways? You can-" the Jolteon hesitated.
[ic]"You can take the book back home if you want, so long as this stays between us."
[ic]"It's not just the book, Ryuku. I want to find Sombra, there are a few questions I've to ask the Ezaneian King, before his son comes to power."
[ic]"I..see.."
[ic]"The king is usually out, so escorting you to see him would be a challenge-"
[ic]"I'll find him, thank you."
[ic]Farren waved goodbye to her brother, Void, before heading out of the castle gates. As she left, Luminescence and Aaron were returning at the same time.
[ic]"Oh- Hey!" lumi called out.
[ic]"Oh, hello Lumi! Who's this?" she asked, looking over to the vaporeon.
[ic]"I'm Aaron, nice to meet you dude." he reached his paw out and Farren shook it.
[ic]"Farren. Lumi's told me about you a couple of times. Nice to finally be meeting you Aaron."
[ic]"Where were you off to?" Lumi asked with curiosity in his voice.
[ic]"Oh, I was just heading out to the greenwood to pray to Nihena, and to practice with my magic for a little while. You're welcome to join me if you want."
[ic]"How about we just practice here or something? It'd be easier then traveling three hours to the spring, and I'm pretty exhausted from today's patrol."
[ic]She nodded.
[ic]"Yeah, you're right."
[ic]Wanna come along Aaron?" Lumi asked, tilting his head at the vaporeon.
[ic]"Sorry dude- I'm kind of busy today. Maybe some other time?" He laughed
[ic]"I'll see you around, bye guys!"
[ic]Lumi waved a goodbye to Aaron, and so did Farren.
[ic]Lumine and Fare headed to the archives to practice on their magic.
[ic]"Hey, Lumi, just curious, why the archives?"
[ic]"Why don't we just go to the normal library?"
[ic]"There are a few books there I think you would like. There are some magic books off limits to citizens, maybe while you help me practice, you can learn new things as well. New spells, new Magic."
[ic]"Oh.."
[ic]Farren smiled
[ic]"You're very thoughtful, thank you."
[ic]The Umbreon led her into the archives where Ryuku and Elvira were. They walked past the pair and sat somewhere else. Lumine grabbed a few books about normal and light magic that were archive exclusive only. He sat them on the table and pushed them over to Farren who took one and began reading, or rather, skimming it to see what it was all about.
[ic]"Yeah, you're right lumi."
[ic]"I've never knew about these spells, rather powerful magic honestly. Thank you, but are you sure you're allowed to be showing me this?"
[ic]"My coronation is only a week away so I don't think it matters."
[ic]"Only a week?"
[ic]"You must be excited, King Luminescence."
[ic]"I-"
[ic]"..."
[ic]"I- I guess you could say that. it's a mix of excitement, and fear."
[ic]"Don't fear the future. It's good to plan for the future but fearing it will only worsen things. You'll be a great king, I'm sure of it. If not, your father wouldn't have passed down the role so quickly."
[ic]"I've only been here for a month."
[ic]"And if the king thinks that's enough time, and that you're ready then I'm sure of it. Ezaneian has lived in peace for decades thanks to Sombra's intelligence, strength, and Courage."
[ic]"Courage, have some. The future is a bright one, so long as you don't fear destiny."
[ic]"Do you really believe in Destiny?"
[ic]"I believe in a lot of things. Fate, Destiny, and yes, I believe in Nihena and her Tale."
[ic]"Think about it. The story with Nihena took place over a century ago. One hundred years. Overtime the kingdom she fought against to protect the citizens from happened so long ago that everyone either forgot about it, or died. Some people passed on the legend and yet, it's only a myth now. A myth is a story from ancient past, it doesn't mean it's fake. Say a hundred years or two hundred from now, this Kingdom is long gone. We'd become nothing more then a myth. The ancient Kingdom's fall was nothing more then fate."
[ic]"Fate, Destiny, Gods and Goddesses.." lumi let out a sigh.
[ic]"This is all so confusing.."
[ic]Farren frowned at him.
[ic]"I reread the story last night, and I think I've discovered something important. Something you should know."
[ic]"I've read the story many times. I don't think there's anything to-"
[ic]"I think Sombra might be the old king. The king of the ancient Kingdom."
[ic]"My father? Then the queen must've been my mother Elaina but that doesn't make any sense.."
[ic]"It's true they resorted to Crepuscular magic yes. But I've discovered that there was a cure for the magic. Your family found the cure, but it was too late. The kingdom was in ruin. My guess is that Nihena was able to restore them to their former selves. They'd still known such magic but it was something they vowed to never use. Ever."
[ic]"I don't.."
[ic]"This still doesn't make any sense."
[ic]"My father isn't with my mother anymore, she's gone. She'd disappeared with a blood trail years ago."
[ic]"Did you follow the trail?"
[ci]"It led deep into the most dangerous sections of the woods, No. I would've been killed."
[ic]"I think your mother may still be alive somewhere. I don't know how, but I can sense it. Maybe she'll turn up soon Lumine."
[iuc]The clock hit 8:45 PM
[ic]"..."
[ic]"It's getting late."
[ic]"Funny how we spent all day talking rather then practicing our magic."
[ic]"Yeah.." Farren smiled, standing up.
[ic]"Do you mind if I take these books back home? I want to read more up on them before we actually start practicing tomorrow. Oh, and we can meet up here in the archives again if you want. It..It is much easier."
[ic]"Go ahead. I'll see you tomorrow Fare. Goodbye." Lumi waved.
[ic]"See ya!" She called back, picking up the books and leaving the archives.
[ic]Lumine walked away from their table, towards and past Elvira and Ryuku, who were still studying. He left the archives and headed directly to his room to try and get some rest. It was early for him to sleep but he didn't care, he was exhausted.
[ic]Ryuku stood from his chair and pushed it in.
[ci]"It's getting late Elvira. You should head to the inn. If you want to continue practicing on this then we can meet up again here tomorrow."
[ic]Elvira stood up as well, pushing her chair in and picking up the book.
[ic]"Okay, Ryuku. I'll see you tomorrow."
[ic]Elvira left the archives and headed into the plaza. She started walking towards the inn, slowly and wearily, exhausted from the long day she had.
[bicu]Chapter 6
[icu]7:27 AM
[ic]It was an early morning, lumine was already waiting in the plaza for Farren. While waiting, he was speaking to Ryuku.
[ic]"So" lumi started.
[ic]"Yesterday Farren explained to me about the story of the Interlopers. I'm sure you came to the same conclusion as we did, Right Ryuku?"
[ic]"Your parents were the Interlopers Lum."
[ic]"I don't understand how we didn't realize this before with it being so plainly obvious. There's nothing we can do about it now as the issue is resolved. Ezaneian has been up for twenty three years by now and the king had never used his dark magic so.. We shouldn't be worried about it too much."
[ic]"But why not say anything? He didn't even tell me, his own son. He has the audacity to trust me enough to be a king, yet not to tell his own story? He's selfish, and just like the story said about the old Kingdom's family being swallowed by greed and hatred.. Sombra's a greedy, selfish, malicious king, and a father. At least.."
[ic]"At least he won't be king anymore." Ryuku continued.
[ci]"Where were you when the kingdom was created and when it fell? The story never mentioned a prince. Only the King, and Queen."
[ic]"That's not the only confusing part, I have a brother as well who went missing. The story didn't mention him either. His name was Zero. I'm.."
[ic]"I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the kingdom was created and fell eons before I was born. That way, nothing interfered with our family, Nobody hunted us down in revenge, nobody seeked to kill mom and dad for riches, we were perfectly fine. Well, that was until mom went missing, and then when dad disappeared not long after, leaving me to fend for myself."
[ic]Ryuku let out a sigh
[ic]"You finally found him."
[ic]"I don't care for Nocturne anymore, I just want to see mother, Elaina. Farren told me she might still be alive, though I don't know to believe it or not."
[ic]"Farren? The glaceon you were with yesterday?"
[ci]"Right. She knows magic so I figured I'd help teach her some more powerful spells. However, we ended up simply talking about the ancient Kingdom instead."
[ic]"I see.." Ryuku muttered, he looked towards the inn to see Elvira leaving.
[ic]"I've to help Elvira, the one I was with yesterday, practice her magic as well. I'll see you Lumine."
[ic]"Yeah.."
[ic]"Bye Ryuku."
[ic]"Hello, Elvira." Ryuku said, as he approached her.
[ic]"I presume you want to head back to the archives?"
[ic]"No, I was actually heading out to the forests. I wanted to practice there as it's a lot more.."
[ic]She thought of Lumine and Farren, though mostly of Luminescence. She thought that he was Sombra's kid.
[ic]"..Private. You may join me if you wish."
[ic]Ryuku seemed a little confused since the archives were rarely visited. He just nodded, drew his bow, and followed her outside of the castle gates.
[ic]Some time later, she sat on a log out in the dense forests of Ezaneian Kingdom. Ryuku stood beside her, keeping his bow drawn. There was a long silence as she read from the book.
[ic]"Hey.." Ryuku called out, turning to look at her.
[ic]"You came to Ezaneian all by yourself, that's right?"
[ic]"That is correct. I didn't really have anyone to bring with me, and the knights in Inailum are.."
[ic]"An embarrassment to the kingdom."
[ic]"...What about Amora? I at least thought you'd want her to come with you."
[ic]"..."
[ci]"Something happened"
[ic]"What? But I thought you two were best friends."
[ic]"We are best friends, I just."
[ci]"I did something stupid and now I'm too embarrassed to confront her."
[ic]"I'm sure it wasn't that bad.."
[ic]"If you're best friends then chances are she's forgiven you by now.."
[ic]"She probably has but still. It would just be awkward if we talked right now. Maybe some other time. This is why I didn't bring Amora along."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"I want to ask you one more thing."
[ic]"I probably shouldn't bring this up since Anpu recently passed."
[ic]"But I need to ask you.. Elvira, the scar on your eye, in no way was it an accident. That scar is clearly intentional. So I want to ask you if your father has been hurting you. Tell me the truth this time. You've got nothing to be afraid of."
[ic]"'You've got nothing to be afraid of'" she silently mocked.
[ic]"You want to know the truth? Yeah, he was. Though, I wasn't afraid of him finding out and hurting me more. I was afraid of a war starting."
[ic]"Our kingdoms thrived for generations. If you found out he was doing anything to me then you would've confronted him yourself. Anpu, would've killed you. Had he done that, Ezaneian would go into a frenzy."
[ic]"If that happened then both of our Kingdoms would perish. I would die, Amora, everyone."
[ic]"A war?"
[ic]"Elvira, do you really think they'd start a war over one knight?"
[ic]"You're the Royal Knight. The strongest in all of Ezaneian, the best knight. If you died then they have good reason to attack Inailum."
[ic]"Inailum is in a very bad state, You're wrong about both of our Kingdoms perishing. However, that does mean the destruction and demise of Inailum Kingdom.."
[ci]"Which is why I didn't even tell Amora about it, out of fear that it would spread."
[ic]"Anpu is gone now. Now I have to focus and devote my time to becoming the Queen that Inailum needs. Our Kingdom is dying, and I need to be able to restore it to the once prosperous Kingdom it was.
[ic]"This sounds.. almost like the story of the ancient Kingdom that rested where Ezaneian stands today."
[ic]"I'm all for helping you rebuild Inailum but are you sure about this?"
[ic]"What if you're corrupted by the dark energy?"
[ic]"I won't be."
[ic]"Sombra thought the same thing before his kingdom fell. Of course he rebuilt it yet, he only had that chance through the goddess. Elvira, Nihena is gone now, there will be no more blessings to stop this. I just need to know if you're one hundred percent okay with what could happen to you, your citizens, and your entire Kingdom."
[ci]"I'm fully aware that it could fall into ruin, and everyone could be killed off in an instant. It's worth the risk."
[ic]"I trust you, if you think this will be the best outcome for Inailum then, I won't stop you."
[ic]Elvira placed her paws a small distance from one another, before a quiet sound of static and darkness could be heard.
[ci]Elvira, using the crepuscular magic, had managed to form a physical object, a cloth. She threw the object over to Ryuku who caught it with ease.
[ic]"Hey-"
[ic]"Woah- You can create things now?"
[ic]"Minor. Things. I'm still working on it but regardless. Keep that as a thank you."
[Ic]The Jolteon looked at the black cloth, a long scarf. He could feel the dark energy pulsating through the creation, and yet, still wrapped it around his neck.
[ci]"'Thank you'? For what?"
[ic]"For understanding why I'm going through so much for Inailum, and not trying to stop me despite it putting Ezaneian at risk."
[ic]"..Well, It's you're home right? You have to look after your citizens, you're their queen."
[ic]"You've got a good heart Elvira."
[ic]"Oh and..thank you for the scarf."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"That Umbreon you were talking to earlier. By any chance, could that have been Sombra's son?"
[ic]"Yeah actually. His name is Luminescence. He's one of the castle's knights, why do you ask?"
[ic]"Well, I just had a sneaking suspicion is all."
[ic]"And about Sombra."
[ic]"Do you know where I could find him? I've to talk to him about a few things."
[ic]"You can find Sombra in the Greenwood at the spring, he rarely visits Inailum, the king sometimes just leaves to visit the forests for a walk, or the villages surrounding Ezaneian.
[ic]"That helps."
[ic]"Why do you need to see him anyways?"
[ic]"What did you want to discuss with him?"
[ci]"You're talkative today."
[ci]"..."
[ci]Elvira looked up at Ryuku, she let out a sigh as she gave in.
[ic]"I'll tell you what happened back in Inailum with Amora and..Sombra.. But you've to promise me you won't judge me for this."
[ic]"You've my word."
[ci]Elvira closed the book and sat it down.
[ic]"I was with Amora last week, we both were to continue practicing our magic."
[ic]"As you know, she's been my best friend, and helped me learn magic. Though, I'd be lying if I said it worked. We studied for weeks and my magic never went anywhere. Then, I discovered Crepuscular Magic. I didn't tell her that I was using it so she thought it was all natural skill and talent, that I finally had caught on. I wanted to impress Amora."
[ic]"We were discussing my role as Queen. As a queen, I'll be busier. This was all pushed on me so fast, it's surreal to be pronounced queen. I was telling her how I was worried that I wouldn't be able to see her as much. She bore a bright smile free of worry. It was a beautiful smile, Amora told me we'd make time to talk to each other. I had so many thoughts going through my head, in the heat of the moment, I-.."
[ic]"I kissed her, I love Amora."
[ic]"She's the only person who talked to me, helped me practice, took time to go out of her way to spend time with and to assist me."
[ic]"Amora doesn't.. swing that way, and even if she did... She's with Sombra now."
[ic]She put her face into her paws.
[ic]Ryuku's ears went down as her words were muffled, broken.
[ic]"I'm.. sorry to hear that. I'm guessing this is why you can't see her..Right?"
[ic]"I- I can't bring myself to see her again. It would just be awkward, especially since I've not seen her since then, a week now."
[ci]Ryuku let out a sigh. He sat his bow down, and took a seat on the log next to Elvira.
[ci]He hesitated, before wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into a hug.
[ci]"W-What're you-"
[ic]She went silent, her ears lowered, as she was pulled into the hug. She closed her eyes, starting to tear up more and more. Ryuku's golden fur shined in the sun, it was warm, no, hot, hot from the sun. It was comfortable. Exhausted, Elvira could already feel herself drifting off against Ryuku.
[ic]8:32 AM
[ic]"Hey!" a voice shouted out to lumine.
[IC]"Huh?" he turned to see a green espeon walking up to him. She had a grin, red eyes, it was your typical Espeon aside from being bipdeal.
[ic]"How's my sister been keeping you? You two look like you've been having a lot of fun recently."
[ic]"You mean Farren?"
[ic]"You're her sister?"
[ci]"Course I am. I've just been watching you two talk in the plaza from a distance, you two seem to get along wonderfully. I say, she could even be your queen.~"
[ic]The umbreon laughed sarcastically.
[ic]"Real funny."
[ic]He smiled and reached his paw out to her.
[ic]"It's Luminescence."
[ic]"Dawn." she said, shaking his paw.
[ic]"It's good that you two are friends. She's only got Spring, Void, and me. And even though she may seem extroverted.. She's a huge introvert. However, she seems to grown quite comfortable around you. You'd better treat her right."
[ic]"Heh- hahaha.." lumi blushed as he felt embarrassed.
[ic]"I don't like her...like.." he started but found it hard to finish the sentence.
[ic]"Your secret is safe with me , don't worry king."
[ic]"... maybe?"
[ic]"Please."
[ic]Dawn laughed.
[ic]"Quite fast for you to develop a crush on Fare don't you think?"
[ic]"Well I suppose love does come in different shapes, sizes.. speeds.."
[ci]"Um.. Dawn? is that all you wanted to talk to me about or is there something more?"
[ic]"No, I just wanted to chat for a little while.~"
[ci]"Fare isn't up yet and you looked like you were dying of boredom. Thought I'd keep you company since Aaron and Ryuku aren't around right now."
[ic]"I actually have some important information you might want to hear. Would you believe me if I said my sister Farren was a descendant of the goddess, Nihena?"
[ic]"Nihena had children and then she or he became the god or goddess, and then they had children."
[ic]"Which, I guess you could say that makes Farren a goddess herself? Descended down from many generations."
[ic]"What?" lumi asked, feeling confused.
[ic]"Why are you telling me this?"
[ic]"Well, you're the king's son. Sombra is a nice, generous person, and I'm positive you were raised the same way. One look at you, and I can already tell you have good intentions."
[ic]"..."
[ic]"Hey Lumi- Dawn?"
[ic]Farren came running over to the pair, she looked over at Dawn and frowned.
[ic]"Are you messing with lumi? I told you to stop spreading rumors around town."
[ic]Dawn shrugged.
[ic]"Whatever do you mean? I've never told a lie in my entire life." she chuckled.
[ic]Farren sighed and turned to look at lumi.
[ic]"Don't mind her, she likes spreading lies around town. Whatever she said, it's probably false."
[ic]"Wait so-" lumi started
[ci]"You're not the goddess's decedents?"
[ic]Farren went silent for a moment, before nodding a yes. She blushed, feeling embarrassed from the topic.
[ic]"That's.. That's true."
[ic]"But the topic just isn't really relevant anymore."
[ic]"That's not true." Dawn responded
[ic]"You talk about Nihena all the time."
[ic]"Why didn't you say anything?" lumine asked
[ic]"..when we were talking about the ancient Kingdom?"
[ic]"Well, it didn't cross my mind.." Fare laughed nervously.
[ic]"Oh and.."
[ic]"I thought you'd treat me as so."
[ic]"No, never."
[ic]"This is similar to how I said I felt about becoming a king, having everyone look up to me like a deity. I can't handle that."
[ic]"...Neither can I. So I beg you not to treat me as a deity, despite.."
[ic]"Being one?"
[ic]"I expect the same from you after my coronation."
[ic]"You got it." Farren smiled at lumine, who smiled back.
[ic]"See Fare?" Dawn asked with a grin
[ic]"I told you he'd think no higher of you."
[ic]"Although, Lumi, I do hope this means your atheism involved with Nihena is gone."
[ic]"I'm still a little iffy about it as the first goddess, Nihena, had been born and died so long ago."
[ic]"Now that I think about it, perhaps that's why it was so hard for me to learn magic. Because of my inability to believe in who keeps this Kingdom alive, and because you, the current goddess are literally standing before me. Maybe because you're the goddess, that could be why you're so good with magic."
[ic]Dawn waved at the two of them
[ic]"Alright, this conversation is a little too convoluted for me. I'll talk to you again later."
[ic]Farren waved before thinking about what lumi said for a good minute or two.
[ic]"I suppose you're right. Maybe now that your opening up to the Kingdom's belief and ideals, magic will be easier to learn. There are only a select few who can learn magic in both of our Kingdoms, and I happen to be one of them. I'm unsure of how I didn't notice this already but I think you're right. Then again, Ryuku and Aaron know magic don't they? They're not gods, or goddesses."
[ic]"Right, and some girl was studying with Ryuku. However, she's not a goddess, at least I don't think so. I've never heard about her."
[ic]"If you're truly the goddess Farren, then doesn't that mean you'll watch over our kingdom alongside Nihena?"
[ic]"Of course! I want Ezaneian to thrive, it's citizens to live in peace without despair. If I have to take over for the previous goddess then I'm ready to accept my role."
[ic]"I guess the same goes for me with Sombra's role."
[icu]The following week- 8:40 PM
[ic]"Ryuku?" Lumi asked, pacing around the throne room.
[ic]"Where's Sombra? He still hasn't shown up for the coronation."
[ic]"I'm unsure, there's not much we can do though but wait for his return."
[ic]"It's been three hours, and he's not returned. Are you sure-"
[ic]Lumi went silent and Ryuku nodded as Sombra walked in. There was an odd silence until he spoke.
[ic]"Luminescence! and Ryuku."
[ic]"It's time for your coronation, please follow me outside, everyone is waiting."
[ic]Lumine quietly followed Sombra outside, with Ryuku beside them. Everyone was there, all the citizens had gathered around. The smaller umbreon nervously looked over to his father, before kneeling in front of the crowd. The few knights walked up behind the pair, Aaron, Ryuku, Rose, Finn.
[ic]"To my people, your king, I, Sombra will no longer be your king and instead, my son, Luminescence will be the new ruler over all that is known as Ezaneian Kingdom. To you, Luminescence, you are thee true successor and king of all of Ezaneian. You acknowledge your right to protect and serve your vassals and people."
[ic]"I swear thee, I'll do everything in my power to keep Ezaneian alive, it's citizens happy and safe, to keep the peace. Even if it costs my life, I will keep our community alive, and thriving. You've my word."
[ci]People cheered as the by crown was placed amongst luminescence's head, he stood up and looked towards everyone, all the citizens. His heart raced, as he nervously examined everyone. He didn't like being infront of crowds like this but it was likely a one time thing.. Of course unless he needed to announce something like an attack or invasion. He looked back towards his friends and smiled at the group, seeing them too cheer him on gave him confidence.
[ic]As lumine started talking to Aaron, Sombra snuck off, away from the crowd. He discreetly left through the castle gates and out into the forests. As he was far enough away, Elvira walked out from behind the thicket of trees, she frowned at him.
[ic]Sombra stood Idly for a moment before snapping back to consciousness, free from the mind control spell.
[ic]"Hello Sombra." She said in a twisted tone.
[ic]"Who are you?" he asked, taking a step backwards.
[ic]"I was just heading towards the coronation, and now I'm suddenly here, did you do something?"
[ic]"Your son has already been pronounced king. Your role here is finished."
[ic]"How'd you even know about that-?"
[ic]She shrugged
[ic]"Well it's a public event, everyone knows."
[ic]"..What do you mean it's been finished? I haven't even been to the coronation yet- I don't even recall leaving the castle for that matter."
[ic]"A little mind control never hurt anyone, that's a complex spell even you don't understand though."
[ic]"Mind control? You mean Crepuscular magic? That's the number one taboo in all of Ezaneian! What did you do?!"
[ic]"I don't have time for this, Goodbye Sombra."
[ic]...
[ic]...
[ic]...
[ic]"What now dude..?" Aaron asked, following lumine and the others back inside.
[ic]"I've to get more knights and guards for Ezaneian as our defense is very low as of right now. There are only four, five knights now and only around four guards. I'm going to be busy in the next few days so I won't be available to hang out as much. Luckily though, it shouldn't take too long. I'm going to go out now, and try to recruit more knights and guards. I'll see you guys soon!" Lumi waved a bye to them, before quickly heading outside the castle.
[ic]Aaron looked over to Ryuku, Finn, and Rose, the group seemed confused on what to do now.
[ic]The four headed off outside, and continued their normal tasks as knights.
[bicu]Chapter 7
[icu]One month later
[ic]5:49 PM
[ic]"Sombra has went missing, not that it matters now, he's not the king anymore anyways. He may be my father, but we can't focus on him now. Of course, however, we do need to be on alert. I don't think he would've left Ezaneian, he has no reason to. I think something may have happened to him, someone may have hurt him. That means we need to be careful, to prevent it from happening to other people."
[ic]"..Right." Ryuku nodded
[ic]"I have my suspicions on what could be going on but I really don't have any proof now, I'll inform you more on the matter if I gather more information."
[ic]"That girl, my childhood friend Elvira, and the queen of Inailum Kingdom.. I don't think it's her, but she did have.. issues with Sombra. However Elvira is.."
[ic]"..too nice to do anything malicious."
[ic]"Just keep an eye on her when you can, better safe then sorry. Make sure to order more knights out on patrol and to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. It would be awful if more people were to suddenly vanish in the blink of an eye."
[ic]"Right."
[ic]"I'll head out to see Elvira now, I'll keep an eye on her as well. You have my word."
[IC]With that, Ryuku turned and left.
[ic]Lumine let out a sigh of annoyance.
[ci]"I have to join them, I can't just sit around.."
[ic]He walked out into the plaza and saw a new face coming into the gates. She had white and pink fur, and a beautiful flower in her hair/fur.
[ic]The Umbreon walked up slowly to greet her in a friendly manner.
[ci]"Hello. I'm Luminescence, lumi for short. Nice to meet you."
[ic]She looked at him curiously for a moment before smiling and shaking his paw.
[ic]"I've heard about you, you're the king right? It's nice to meet you Lumi!"
[ic]"I'm Amora. I actually came here, looking for a friend.. Perhaps you know her?"
[ic]"Oh maybe! I know quite a lot of people around town, since I've been getting to interact a lot more with people."
[ic]"Well, her name is Elvira. She's my best friend yet we haven't really.. spoke in over a month. I was really hoping to see her."
[ic]"The royal knight, Ryuku just left, he's going to meet up with her right now. If you hurry, you might be able to catch him. He's heading in the direction of the greenwood spring."
[ic]"Oh.. Okay, thank you so much!" she said, waving, turning around, and hurrying off. Lumi laughed nervously before turning and walking back inside the castle plaza.
[icu]9:21 PM
[ic]Ryuku walked through the dense brush, making his way into a very small clearing.
[ic]'No way she'd come this far..' he thought
[ic]'This is almost near the spring.'
[ic]Elvira sat in the dense greenwood, reading from her book of Crepuscular Magic. She had nearly completed the book by now, only a few chapters away. Her fur was immensely greyed in color, a dark hue forming onto her. The jolteon barely noticed her dark fur. He walked towards Elvira and took a seat next to her, looking over at her darkened fur in disbelief.
[ic]"Elvira? Hey- Why did you come so far out?"
[ic]"Oh- Hey Ryu. I was just, distracted, is all by the new amount of knights around here. Lumi is doing your kingdom a swell job huh? Most of them don't venture off this far so I came to get some privacy."
[ic]"I'm nearly finished then I can head home, just a few more chapters."
[ic]"I thought you were staying until you got to speak with Sombra?"
[ic]She laughed.
[ic]"I changed my mind, I wanted to finish this book before heading back, it's quite long."
[ic]"I see. Elvira?"
[ic]"There is something I wanted to ask you."
[ic]"A few things actually."
[ic]"Firstly, I know you're close to finishing the book and nothing bad has occurred yet, but still. I beg you to stop reading. I think you're set on restoring Inailum, the kingdom needs you more then ever. Inailum is nearly in ruins, if you don't help it now then something bad could occur."
[ci]Elvira went silent for a moment, thinking about what Ryuku said. She nodded in response.
[ic]"Okay." she closed the book.
[ic]"No more Crepuscular Magic, I understand."
[ci]"Just like that?"
[ic]"Yeah, you might be right Ryuku. I've found many helpful spells and more to aid Inailum already, I don't need to finish it."
[ci]"So then are you heading back now? It's getting late."
[ic]"Next week, my mind needs time to.. adjust to it's adverse effects."
[ci]"We should head back to Ezaneian then, it's getting dark. By the looks of it, it'll rain soon too. I'll lead you back."
[ic]"Right."
[ic]Elvira wearily stood up and followed directly behind Ryuku.
[ic]"How have you been feeling? Has the magic been getting to you-"
[ci]"I'm doing fine, I'm just kind of tired. I was thinking about Amora all day. About what happened back in Inailum kingdom between us. I want to see her again soon."
[ic]"It might be embarrassing and awkward but as long as I could see her again, just one more time.."
[IC]"You've got a good friend, you really should go see her."
[ic]"..I plan on it." she smiled.
[ic]Elvira's fur lightened a bit in color. Ryuku noticed this but didn't say anything.
[icu]Meanwhile - back in Ezaneian Castle - Farren's home
[ic]"I'm almost finished!" Farren said, laughing quietly. She sat next to lum, with some cloth and fabric, making something with it.
[ci]"I'm worried about that girl I saw earlier today, Amora, she went after Ryuku. If she didn't catch up with the two, then she definitely would've got lost in those woods. It's going to storm soon as well.."
[ic]"Think she'll be okay out there? After dark, in the greenwoods, is not any place someone should be. Pokémon and creatures alike tend to be hostile during nightfall."
[ic]"Let's hope so. I'm- I'm sure she's ran into Ryuku by now."
[IC]"I'm finished!" Farren announced with a smile, handing over a long, blue scarf to lumine
[ic]The Umbreon took it slowly and wrapped it around his neck.
[ci]"Th-thank you so much! It looks amazing!"
[ic]"Huh?" he asked, noticing three colored diamonds on the bottom of the scarf. A blue one, a purple one, and a yellow one.
[ic]"What does these mean?"
[ic]"The blue one is supposed to resemble Nihena and the peace she brings over Ezaneian. The purple resembles the king, you, lumine, and the yellow resembles the protecters, guards, and knights over Ezaneian."
[ic]"I do appreciate it, very much thank you."
[ic]"When I was little, my mother taught me how to sew. I mostly used it for scarfs as winter gets really cold here, rarely below zero."
[ic]"Your.. mother?"
[ic]"I would kill to see Elaina again, just one more time. I thought about what you told me a lot, that she might still be.."
[ic]"Right, I don't know what it is but I suddenly felt a weird life essence when we were discussing it, I don't know how but I knew it was Elaina. We could go look for her sometime if you want."
[ic]"That would be lovely, thank you."
[ic]"For a while, when I was here in Ezaneian, everything was so hard to get used to. My first days here was spent as a knight. Actually, It's been kind of upsetting. Ezaneian castle reminds me of an old city where I came from, before I arrived. Izletton City. There, someone saved my life, a human by the name of Jessica."
[ic]"It's kind of funny, I hated her for a while, I hated all humans. However, the more she took care of me, the more I realized it wasn't for her own gain, she wasn't even a trainer in the first place. Jess was different. A short while ago, just over a year or two, she died and I came here, saved the same way as I was before. Nearly found dead in the wild, I'm.. not too good at taking care of myself." he laughed nervously, a blush spread across lumi's face.
[ic]"Those're my origins. I was a normal pokémon until I was saved by Ryuku. I had read many stories on this Kingdom, ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a knight. I never expected to become a king though, it's unreal."
[ic]"You, Ryuku, Aaron, Rose, and Finn, they were all born here right? Here in Ezaneian Kingdom?"
[ic]"Right, not quite as interesting as you."
[ci]"You always wanted to become a knight right? Well, I've always wanted to become a mage, exclusively for aiding Ezaneian. I've practiced ever since I was a little vee. I-still haven't managed to become one though."
[ci]"Why not? You totally have the abilities! You'd be the best mage all around."
[ci]"We don't really have any classifications for mages guilds around, that's kind of Inailum's thing."
[ic]"Ah.. I see.."
[ci]"Right, well you do remember what I told you right? I plan to bring magic back to Ezaneian. I'll start opening mage guilds, you can be the leader if you want."
[ci]"Me? Well- I don't know if I'd qualify-"
[ic]"You're probably the best magic user I know in all of Ezaneian, you'd make a great leader."
[ic]"You'd make a wonderful leader.. a great.."
[ic]Farren laughed
[ic]"I know what you must be thinking. Dawn told me everything."
[ic]"I'm not sure if I believe her but.."
[ci]"If you want lumi, maybe we could go on a date?"
[ic]"Or" she continued
[ic]"We could just have it here.."
[ic]"Wh-"
[ic]"W-what do you mean-- D-date?"
[ic]"Oh come on lumi"
[ic]"With the way you've been acting, did you really think I wouldn't notice?.."
[ic]"The truth is.. I felt the same way too.."
[ic]"I-" he blushed slightly
[ic]"I'm sorry- I don't know what to- I don't really..know how dates..work.."
[ic]Fare giggled, she slowly leaned over to lumi and embraced the Umbreon in a hug. His face became completely red as he she wrapped her arms around him.
[ic]"It's my first date too."
[ic]After a moment, she pulled back, smiling at him, too with a large blush across her face.
[ic]"So I guess we're both new to this..Huh?"
[ic]"Yeah.. Dawn told you I had a thing for you, didn't she?.."
[ic]"Right, though she does tell a lot of lies. I was skeptical at first. That's why I invited you over, I wanted to hang out and maybe.. It's not only that, but I wanted to give you that scarf, I wanted to make something to say thank you for allowing me access to the archives. Really, it means a lot."
[IC]"I should be the one thanking you, for teaching me magic."
[ic]"It's nothing, really.. I could teach many more people, but.. I-"
[ic]"You're an introvert. Dawn told me that. The same goes for me, it's pure luck that we got into a conversation back in the café. Things would be a lot different if we haven't met, and I'm glad we did."
[ic]"You're an amazing person, I'm truly lucky to be your friend."
[ic]"You're too kind. Really."
[ic]"I only spoke to you since you looked so.."
[ic]She hesitated to continue her sentence.
[ic]"... depressed. I'm guessing it's because of what you told me about Izletton.. With Jessica, is that it?"
[ic]"...Mother as well, Elaina's disappearance. Sombra is gone, again, too."
[ic]"My stability has increased overtime though, I'm just glad we're..here now. I feel at ease when the two of us are speaking to each other."
[ic]"I.. care about you, I'd be devastated if something were to happen to you too."
[ic]"Lumi-"
[ic]"I- No I don't just care about you, Farren, I love you, more then anything. I want to be by your side, always. To protect you and.."
[ic]she leaned over once more towards Luminescence, close enough to where she could kiss him. They both shared bright red blushes, wrapping their arms around each other to continue the kiss.
[ci]There was a long moment of intimacy before they pulled away from each other, taking a breath.
[ic]"Farren.."
[ic]"Farren there's something I.. I should ask you, although it might be too early..
[ic]"Would you want to.. would you like to be my Queen?"
[icu]The following day: 10:29 AM
[ic]"You wanted to see Elvira?" asked Ryuku, standing next to Amora
[ic]"You must be Amora right?.. She's told me a lot about you."
[ic]"Elvira?.. well do you know where she is? I really have to speak with her, it's urgent."
[ci]"It's.. she headed towards Nihena's Spring and wanted to go off alone."
[ci]"Okay.. Thank you so much!"
[ic]Amora turned away and bolted out of the castle. Ryuku was curious on what she was going to say to Elvira but decided not to intervene. He continued to do his job as an Ezaneian Knight.
[ic]
[ci]
[ci]
[ci]"Elvira- Hey!" Amora shouted, running down the stairs into the spring where Elvira was.
[ci]She slowly turned to look at Amora without saying a word.
[ci]"Hey-" Amora called out, finding herself nervous to interact with El.
[ic]Amora ran up to her, before hugging the grey coated creature standing before her.
[ic]As Amora did so, Elvira tensed up. She hesitated before pushing Amora back out of the hug. She slowly stood up.
[ic]"What do you want now Amora?"
[ci]"Why are you here, shouldn't you be off with-"
[ci]Elvira stopped suddenly before laughing
[Ci]"Right- I forgot. Anyways-why did you come find me?"
[ci]"I-"
[ci]"Well you're my best friend, I wanted to see you again. I haven't seen you in over a month. I figured- maybe you'd want to.. talk? To hang out like before, as friends.."
[ci]Elvira had an embarrassed blush. She shook her head at Amora.
[ci]"No- We're not friends anymore Amora."
[ci]"W-wait..What?.."
[ic]Elvira walked past Amora, and started away from her towards Ezaneian Castle.
[ci]"I don't want to speak to you anymore so you should probably just leave. If you know what's good for you. I'll return to Inailum."
[ci]Vira's fur darkened even more as she left the spring. Her mind was racing with all kinds of thoughts, both good and evil. Amora followed Vira out of the spring into the woods. There was something off about Elvira, Amora sensed that.
[ic]Amora hesitated, before running up to her.
[ic]"H-hey- Wait- if you're heading back to Inailum then at least we could walk together, right?"
[ic]"Just don't talk to me."
[ic]Amora let out an annoyed sigh
[ci]"You're so stubborn sometimes, aren't you? You get upset over one little thing and hold a grudge."
[ci]"Here I am trying to make things right between us and you're ignoring me because of.."
[ci]"Because of what happened back in Inailum right?"
[ci]"Elvira, the only reason I came to Ezaneian was to talk to you. If you really love me then why are you acting like this? The Elvira I know would've wanted to continue our friendship."
[ic]"The 'Elvira you know' is a worthless failure. Amora, I'm the queen now. I don't have time for people like you, friends."
[ci]"This is just like last time, the same conversation. Don't you remember? I told you that you can always make time for friends."
[ci]"Don't you have somewhere else to be? Studying magic or something?"
[ci]"Magic isn't as important. I wanted- No, I needed to see you. I was worried about you."
[ci]"That's pathetic. If you just wanted to see me then you can leave, I'm fine."
[ci]"I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone right now anyways. It's best if you go-"
[ic]Elvira stopped suddenly. Both her and Amora let out a gasp as they saw the disaster spreading before them. A blazing fire had caught in the forests up ahead, towards Inailum Castle. As they both came up to the blazing Kingdom, Elvira ran into the fiery mess towards the castle.
[ic]"Wait!" Amora shouted but she already had disappeared into the flames.
[ic]"I-"
[ic]She turned and started running
[ic]"I'll get Ezaneian's help!"
[ic]Vira ran towards the castle's gates to see ot had collapsed, people were trapped within the castle walls. She charged a strange, dark energy throughout her left arm, her paw glew an eerie purple light as she slammed it into the rock blocking the gates.
[ic]Elvira had knocked the rock underneath loose, causing the whole blockade to crumble. Almost immediately, people came through the gates. Red, hot fire illuminated the plaza, houses crumbled and destroyed. As people fled from the plaza, Vira ran in towards the castle where her home was.
[ic]She headed inside the blazing mess that was her home. Quickly, she headed towards her room. As she entered, she swiped a book from her desk, and turned to leave. The exit to her room caved in, easily she knocked it out with her magic. As she slammed her paw into the rubble she flinched in pain.
[ic]'D-Damn- I must've broken it- No time to worry about that now..'
[ic]She left the room and headed towards the exit. Barricaded, easy. She readied to hit it again but fell silent when she felt a sudden, heavy weight collide with her, forcing her to the ground. Hot, blazing rock scorched, and burned her. As she fell to the ground underneath the heavy rock, she threw the book ahead to avoid it from taking any damage from the rubble. It didn't matter though, as the flames completely flooded the home.
[ic]Aaron, Ryuku, Lumi, Rose, Finn, and other (useless knights), ran into the blazing mess.
[ic]Lumi waved at the group.
[ic]"Aaron, put out the fire, Ryuku, use your water magic to aid him, Finn, Rose, everyone else, find any survivors and help them! I'll join Ryu, and Aaron in putting out the flames."
[ic]"Got it dude!" Aaron shouted
[ic]"No time to waste .." ryuku said, running inside before everyone else. Lumi followed him in.
[ic]Elvira struggled in the flames, trying to shove the rubble off of her but with a broken paw it was no use, and the flames and pain sapped at her strength. Finn burst into the house to see the queen burning to death on the floor.
[ic]"Hold on!" he shouted, running over, using his feelers to clear free the rubble. When there was a big enough gap, he grabbed her and ran outside into the plaza. People were running out of blazing buildings left and right, still alive thanks to Rose. Aaron, Lumi, and Ryuku were indeed, using their magic and abilities to put out the flames. It seemed impossible, the fire was out of control. It had spread all the way to the greenwood. She wondered, how, how a fire like this could've started in the first place. Only fire magic would be this devastating. It wasn't long, until her thoughts failed her, and she blacked out in the chaos.
[icu]7:02 PM - Ezaneian Kingdom
[ci]"How are things looking?" Amora asked with a concerned expression. She had been brought in with lumi's permission. Her and Ryu sat in the archives.
[ic]"When Finn retrieved her from that burning mess, she sustained critical injuries. I've tried to heal her as much as I could with my magic, so far she appears to be in a sort of comatose state. Due to her injuries, it's unsure how long she'll be like that, though it's expected she won't wake up for a while, potientally, years. I'll keep an eye on her so you don't have to worry about her. Amora, if you ever want to see her, just ask Aaron, Lumi, or me and we'll grant you access."
[ci]Ryuku let out a sigh
[ci]"Inailum is gone now, it's all ruin. I'll find you a place to stay in Ezaneian, free of charge."
[ci]"Thank you.. I wasn't sure if you would arrive in time.. If you didn't have teleportation spells, Elvira's fate certainly would've.. been sealed."
[ci]"Amora, I don't usually ask this to random people but I'm giving you the opportunity. If you want, you could become a knight here in Ezaneian. You certainly would have to go on patrols and to receive training, but you'd have a spot at the castle. You can also see Elvira twenty four seven if you wish, even when Aaron, lumi and me aren't here."
[ci]"Actually, Amora, you'd be better suited as a guard, don't you think? No patrols, you could be an inside guard over Elvira's room if you wish. It's pretty convenient."
[ci]"Y-Yeah! That would be perfect!.. How do I-"
[ci]"I'll run you through it, just give me time to get everything ready."
