Quick note I just transcribed the third episode then cut it off at the relevant part, however then I had to take a break for school prep and to help a friend so as I'm writing this I'm watching bones not the episode so the words are right but the tone might be off.

This coupled with the fact I'm a bad speller so things will be as close as I could get.

Also if you hate the fic just read the bottom note where I explain some things and shout out to GrayH who is much better than me at writing but helped inspire the story.

Thank's all for now.

Chapter one

In a unassuming adventures guild tucked away in a frontier town a strange and unique party of a Dwarf shaman, Lizard-man priest, and High-elf archer are just finishing an argument with the guilds receptionist.

"As my comrades have said the one we seek is know by the names Orcbolg and Beard-cutter sadly the human tongue is not my specialty but translated I believe he is know as 'The Goblin Slayer'." The lizard-man politely and calmly explains.

"Oh Goblin Slay—" the guild girl is interrupted by the door opening and what appears to be a filthy rookie in full body armor who purposefully walks past the silver raked party straight to the counter. Followed by a young priestess with a kind smile and blond hair.

"wait hold on!" the elf begins to before the suit of armor interrupted.

"we're done."

"That's wonderful. Welcome back Goblin Slayer" the Guild girl says with a smile as shock passes though the silver ranks.

"Our quest was successful" the priestess happily reports to the Guild worker.

"I'm glad to see your both safe"

"Well more or less" priestess says in a slightly more subdued tone.

"you were talking about goblins. Where are they." The rusted suit cuts through the pleasantries.

"Well umm.. ask them" guild girls says sheepishly. As the rusted armor turns to the newcomers. Then in a tone dead of emotion asks.

"are you goblins?"

"of course we'er not but are you Orcbolg you certainly don't look it. The elf all but shouts at the rusted armor.

"Why would I, I've never been called that." The undead lookalike calmly stated before turning back to the Guild Girl.

"Sir Goblin slayer if we might have a moment of your time there is something we would like to discuss with you." The lizard priest explains calmly.

"In that case we do have some meeting rooms available for use upstairs."

"No need we can discuss here." Goblin slayer calmly begins to walk to his usual table then addressing the silver party. "lets go."

"Should I come along with you?" Priestess meekly asks her sudo-mentor.

After shaking his head no the emotionless voice in the armor replies "you need rest."

As priestess' head and heart fall from the dismissal the High Elf archer walks right past her and says.

"Don't worry we will have him back soon."

Priestess then dejectedly moves to a different seat by the door and orders some tea.

"Umm priestess look why don't you join us your porcelain ranked too just like us"

"Oh that's very kind of you but I'm already working with someone —."

"Yes the brooding one who never takes off his helmet."

"We know that but there's something off about him he's silver ranked but all he ever wants to do is kill goblins silvers would usually go after bigger prey than that. The Rookie Warrior tried to explain to Priestess as his partner adds more evidence.

"I've heard that he just drags along beginners around to use as goblin bait."

"That's not true!" Priestess tries to defend her sudo-mentor before a new voice join the conversation.

"Now now — your not — spreading around — rumors are you" the resident Witch interrupts the three rookies.

"is that true? You use rookies as bait?" The elf asks over hearing the rookies conversation with her superior eras. This comment drew every ear and eye not already focused on this strange group as the entire building, became intent on hearing every word spoken.

"No rookies would alert the goblins to adventurers being in the area causing them too be more alert and making clearing the nest more difficult than needed." Was the cold reply. However those listening still had their doubts to the validity of his system.

"Are you truly an adventurer of the silver rank?" The elf shot back with noticeable doubt.

"The guild thinks so." The emotionless voice continued without care.

"Then the guild must be wrong you look weak and your equipment is so shabby." The elf huffs with doubt of the silvers ability.

"What do you know, think before you speak long-ears take a closer look that leather armor makes for easier movement and the chain mail and helm provides protects against blades and blow to the head. His sword and shield maybe small but they are also easy to maneuver in tight spaces." The dwarf explains raising his voice a bit so those around with slight grins and superior looks could hear and understand the logic behind the rusted mans armor.

"Well it wouldn't kill you to keep your equipment clean." The elf begrudgingly admits with a pout.

"It's a precaution to cover the smell of metal those bastards have keen noses." The cold reply shocked those who heard and started to show them how truly obsessed their fellow adventurer is with these green monsters, and planted the question of why he's like this.

"Listen you maybe a high elf but your still an inexperienced whelp who's out wandering the world because she got bored and doesn't have the since to listen to her elders." The draws shaman lightly condemning the elf.

"I'm 2000 years old and your how old?" The Archers face had a smug look as she faced the shaman.

"107." Was a somewhat hesitate response.

"Oh my is that all you look older much older, those wrinkles poor man!" She said through her laughter.

"That's more than enough talk about age it shames us with shorter life spans." The priest interjected ending the discussion.

"What's your business with me" the rusted armor spoke getting the party back on track.

The elf began the mission briefing."I'm sure you've heard by now about the growing number of daemons in the capital— "no" —leading them is a demon king he's been resurrected now he's gathering forces because he wants to take over the world."

"I see"

"That's why we came we need somebody of your skills" she was shocked with the reply.

"Ask someone else I have no interest in anything but goblins" goblin slayer then began to move on with his day before the elf began to yell at him.

"Don't you understand —" the elf stood up slamming her palm on the table. "I'm saying hoards of demons are going to attack do you realize that the entire world is at stake here." This outburst put fear into the hearts of some of the younger members of the guild and the braver members began to talk among themselves. Before being utterly stunned into silence with the words out of the frontiers kindness' mouth.

"Yes but before the demons destroy the world the goblins will destroy the villages they can't be spared simply because the world is in danger." Despite not raising his voice in any way his words still carried across the guild like a wave.

"How dare yyoouu!" The high elf yelled at the man who has now systematically ruined the image of a silver rank. Before being brought back by the dwarf shaman to their true purpose.

"Easy think about why we're here we didn't track him down to ask for his help dealing with the demons themselves, remember."

"Sir goblin slayer we've come to ask for you help with an infestation of goblins." The lizard man began with his mission request.

"Alright the I accept, where are they how many, how big their nest, do they have a shaman or hob."

"What's with this guy." Was the entire thought process of everyone in the guild.

"Hehe." The shaman began to chuckle quietly to himself as the priest continued.

"As my companion has mentioned in the wake of the demons lords resurrection an army of his has minions has gathered and is preparing to make it's move. So the chieftains of my kind, the kings of men, elders of the elves and dwarfs. Have decided to hold a conference."

"We're the adventurers who have been hired to act as their representatives."

"Eventually a great battle is going to be fought all though I'm sure you don't are about that." The high elf began now

"The goblins we have mentioned to you earlier are currently becoming more active on elven lands making a real nuisance of themselves."

"Have any champions or lords emerged among them."

"Champions... and lords..?"

"Goblin heroes or kings basically equal to platinum ranked adventurers." With this statement the more foolish members of the guild scoffed and even laughed at the idea of platinum ranked goblins and started to go about their business ignoring the rest of the meeting and making listening harder. Fortunately the most important part was left for those who still cared to hear.

"We only know their are many." Lizard Priest regrettably informed Goblin Slayer.

"I'll leave eminently you can decide how much you want to pay me." Goblin Slayer left the table heading towards the front desk.

"What the.. is he planing to go alone." The High elf realized at the same time as those still listening which once again leaving them stunned.

"Goblins."

"Your meeting didn't take very long from the sound of it they came to offer you a mission." The guild girl said trying to pretend that she wasn't listening to his entire meeting.

"The lizard man will give you the details. I'm heading out. I'd like my pay for my last quest."

(the rest of the episode plays the same.)

After the party left the guild there was silence for about five seconds before the other adventures began to talk among themselves with the only topic being the guilds resident goblin obsessed mystery.

The following section was written by GrayH when I brought up this story to him which is why it's well written and competent. So check out "Howl of Vengeance" which helped to inspire this fanfic. Also if you guys want to rewrite this I say go for it cause I just rewrote an episode with one minor change so I have no right to stop you. But other chapters will be more original I just needed it to set up why they are asking about goblin slayer in later chapters.

"Do you hear that?" The young rookie strained his hearing as the oddly dressed armored man continued.

Off in a corner of Guild, the young rookie and his comrades watch as a man in filthy leather calmly speaks to a small group of other younger adventurers. At first glance they thought, what pathetic armor he has, probably some poor slob who took the armor off some corpse, yet they way he spoke and the small gathering around him quickly changed their opinion. They themselves had been out on a simple escort mission, it wad that or rat slaying in the sewers, so they had chosen the easier task, but they would never rise up in rank if all they did was take the safe route.

"A standard weapon will continue to be worn down after multiple attacks, five good hits before the blood and fat render it useless. The moment you're unable to use your weapon, you take theirs, this way you are able to use the enemies weapons against them." The armored man's voice was mechanical, no hint of emotion as he lectured the group when his gaze fell upon a young girl writing down his instructions. "Don't. If you were to fall and they discovered your writings, they could easily adapt and prepare for a future situation. They may not be bright, but they're not stupid."

The young girl, though a bit nervous, quickly nodded her head and crumpled her paper before tossing it aside. Nearby her was a young woman, not much older than her, dressed in the clothing of the clergy, a sounding staff in her hand and a smile on her face.

"Gods above, listen to him, I don't know who he is, but the man's clearly an expert. Just who is he?" The young rookie could not help but feel curious about joining his peers in this discussion.

He and his comrades heard the friendly chuckle from the front desk to see the receptionist smiling whiled she warmly laughed at them.

"I mean no offense, I was just delighted to see you and so many others take an interest in learning from him. The best way for you gain knowledge is to ask, that person there...is the Frontier's Kindest, the Silver Ranked Adventurer who deals with the monster others don't want to...he is Goblin Slayer."
