Birth and Sad News
After the defeat of Calamity Ganon, Zelda and Link along with the people of Hyrule worked extremely hard to restore the Kingdom of Hyrule. After seven years, the kingdom was brought back to life and Zelda was officially crowned queen. Not long after, Zelda and Link got married which made Link the queen's consort.
One day two years later, we see Link and Zelda in the queen's study with Zelda researching ways to improve things for Hyrule and Link keeping an eye on her because she has been pregnant for eight months.
"I'm glad that things have improved amazingly," said Zelda, "But I just wish we could do much more." "It's a shame we had to destroy the guardians since they only brought trouble." "If we gave them another chance, maybe I could have found a good use for them."
"At least we still have the Divine Beasts," said Link, "Though I doubt we will need them any time soon." "But Zelda, are you sure you need to worry about this now?" The baby will come any day now and you shouldn't be working like this."
"Oh Link," said Zelda, "Working while pregnant is nothing compared to holding back Ganon for one hundred years." I'll be fine."
Just then however, Zelda felt some kind of pain and realized that it meant that the baby was coming.
"Link," said Zelda while in pain, "The baby is coming." Take me to the infirmary quickly."
Link and Zelda then left the study and went to the castle infirmary as quickly as possible. Once there, some doctors took Zelda to a room while Link had to wait outside.
"Keep pushing Your Majesty," said one of the doctors, "You're doing great, just a bit more."
"This is so painful," shouted Zelda while doing as told," I don't know how much more I can take."
"You'll be just fine," said another doctor, "You'll make it just a little more."
During the birthing, Link worried deeply for Zelda as he waited and hoped things would go well. After a couple of hours, crying could be heard which meant the baby was born and one of the doctors let Link in the room.
"Congratulations Queen Zelda and Consort Link," said yet another doctor," You have a boy."
"He's amazing Zelda," said Link once he and Zelda were given the baby to hold. "I wish I had thought of a name for him though."
"Don't worry about that Link," said Zelda, "I already thought of one." "I think we should name him after a scholar I looked up to one hundred years ago before the Great Calamity." "That name is Isaac."
"Prince Isaac," said Link, "I like it let's go with it."
"Excuse me you two," said one of the doctors who was a Sheikah instead of a Hylian like the others, "I noticed something during the birth but before I tell you, I would like to examine Consort Link if that would be alright."
Link and Zelda didn't understand but Link decided to allow the checkup. An hour later, the checkup was finished.
"So what is it you would like to tell us," asked Zelda to the Sheikah doctor.
"Well Your Majesty," explained the doctor, "It appears that by living an extra one hundred years, both of your lives have been shortened."
"What," asked Link, "Does that mean you're saying we'll both die soon?"
"Not until you are both about fifty," answered the Sheikah doctor," I'm so sorry for telling you this right after your son was just born."
"I see," said Zelda," Thank you."
That night, Zelda and Link got ready for bed while Isaac was already asleep in the royal crib.
"What a day," said Link, "In both a good and a bad way."
"I know what you mean," said Zelda. "But I suppose in retrospect, our shortened lifespans are expected." "I think we should keep it a secret for a while." "As for Isaac, it will mean he will inherit the throne at an expected time." "It may be needed to arrange marriage for him."
"I don't know if that's a good idea Zelda," said Link, "What if he doesn't like his suitor?"
"I'm sure things will work out if planned carefully," said Zelda.
The royal couple then went to sleep and decided to worry about such things at another time.
