Catherine took her robe off and got back into bed with Jackie. Jackie was wide awake and scooted closer to Catherine. Jackie asked Catherine to hold her. As they held each other, Jackie told Catherine that she didn't want to lose Mattie if things didn't work out between them. She told her that she never loved anyone as much as she loved that little girl. Catherine was confused why Jackie was saying all these things to her after the evening they spent together. Catherine said, "Jackie, I can promise you that Mattie will always be part of your life. Why are you thinking that things might not work out between us?" Jackie became quiet. Catherine waited for her to answer. Jackie swallowed hard and began to tell Catherine that she wanted to act again and she didn't know how she would react to that again. Acting is who she is and sooner or later she wanted to try again. My agent Wade called me yesterday and I got offered a small part in the remake of Neptune 26. Catherine became angry. Jackie when you had your accident those Hollywood executives dropped you as a lead and made everyone believe that you were a drunk when you got hit by that car. "How can you go back to people like that? No, Jackie your not going to take that job." Jackie snapped at Catherine's statement. Jackie said, "It my life Catherine and you can not stop me, besides I took you back after you hurt me in the worse possible way. The shit they did to me was just business, but you supposedly loved me when you tore me into pieces. Besides, I have already accepted the job. " Jackie put her head down as she knew, she shouldn't have snapped at Catherine like that.
That was all it took for the night they had to be ruined. Catherine got up from the bed and left the room. Catherine needed sometime to let her anger go. Jackie would be leaving Mattie, and Catherine did not know how this would effect her baby. Jackie went looking for Catherine after she calmed down. Upon entering Catherine's bedroom, she saw Catherine sitting on her bed facing Mattie's crib. As she sat down next to her and put her hand on Catherine's hand, Catherine told her she didn't want to talk. Jackie had tried, but Catherine wouldn't let her apologize. Jackie retreated to her bedroom and packed some clothes and left to Rachel's house. Christmas was in a couple of days, but she felt that she had already ruined everything with Catherine.
The next morning, Catherine went into Jackie's bedroom to finish their conversation but noticed she wasn't home. Late in the afternoon, Catherine noticed that Jackie still had not returned from where she had gone. Catherine decided to text her, "Jackie, what time are you coming home?" No answer after an hour. Next day, Jackie still had not returned. Catherine went into her room and looked through her things, her laptop was gone, and so were some of her clothes. Catherine called her cell a couple more times but still no answer. Catherine could tell Mattie missed her as much as she did. Catherine called Mrs. Kirk to see if Jackie flew home to Los Angeles, but she hadn't. Catherine couldn't believe this was happening. Catherine was forced to call the University's registration office to find Rachel and Zach addresses. As she pulled up to Rachel's house with Mattie in her arms and knocked on the door, Rachel answered the door. Catherine said, "Is she here?" Rachel told Catherine she was and led her to one of the bedrooms. Rachel told Catherine she could take the baby and give them sometime alone to talk. As Catherine handed over Mattie to Rachel, Rachel told Catherine that Jackie had been crying for two days, but could not get her to talk to her about what was bothering her. Catherine thanked her as she went into talk to Jackie. The room was dark when she went into sit on the bed, Jackie was sound asleep. Catherine slowly began to brush her hair with her fingers behind her ear. Catherine said, "Jackie, wake up. Mattie and I came to get you, let's go home."
Stunned to see Catherine, Jackie told Catherine that she was never coming home again. Catherine spoke softly, "Jackie, please come home with us. Mattie misses you and so do I." With that Jackie began to cry and told Catherine that she had missed Mattie too. "Then come home, Porcupine." Catherine grabbed her hand and led her out of the bedroom. Jackie saw Mattie in Rachel's arm and took her into her arms. Catherine thanked Rachel and led her girls to her SUV. Jackie buckled Mattie in and sat with her in the back. On the way home, Catherine stopped for some ice cream and some Chinese take out. As they entered the house, Catherine allowed Mattie and Jackie to spend sometime together. Around 8pm, Mattie was put to bed. At the dinner table Catherine and Jackie sat down to eat. This was their usual daily routine. Catherine had a glass of wine with her meal. Catherine made small talk as not to push Jackie. Christmas was three days away from Catherine having a real family Christmas and she talked about getting a movie camera to film Mattie opening her presents, Jackie loved the idea. After the dinner, Catherine invited Jackie to come eat ice cream and watch a movie with her in the den. To that Jackie said, " Catherine, maybe we should talk first."
Catherine sat back down in her chair. Taking a deep breath, Catherine told Jackie she loved her and if she wanted to continue to be an actor that she would support her. All she wanted in this world was for her girls to be happy. She said, "If that means me and Mattie moving to Los Angeles than that is what we will do." Jackie started to cry as she got up and got on her knees and hugged a seated Catherine. Jackie cried into Catherine's lap.
