The Kakariko Festival
Two weeks had passed since Sylvia started staying in Hyrule Castle. During that time, she started to learn more about Hyrule including its history and the many races of the kingdom. Also, Isaac was getting used to her stay but still wasn't sure about the arranged marriage.
That morning, Zelda had something to say to them both.
"Isaac, Sylvia," said Zelda to both of them, "We shall be departing for Kakariko Village this afternoon for the End of Calamity Festival."
"The End of Calamity Festival, what's that," asked Sylvia.
"Today is the anniversary of the day when Link and I defeated and sealed Ganon," explained Zelda, "We hold a celebration of it on this day every year."
"Everyone in Hyrule celebrates it," added Isaac, "But since the first festival was held in Kakariko Village due to Hyrule not being completely restored at the time, the royal family has always celebrated it there each year."
"Isaac is right," continued Zelda, "But not only us, certain representatives of the Gorons, Zora, Rito, and Gerudo also come."
"That's interesting," commented Sylvia.
"Indeed," said Zelda, "Please get ready for the trip both of you." "This year's festival will be special since it is going to be Sylvia's first one."
"Understood Mother," said Isaac who then rushed to his room."
"He sure seems excited," commented Sylvia.
"That's because he always enjoys the festival and looks forward to it each year," explained Zelda, "He doesn't have many friends, but he does spend time with the ones he does have during that time."
Later, Zelda, Link, Isaac, Sylvia, and Paya as well as a few knights were on horses and rode for Kakariko village. After a couple of hours of riding, they arrived.
"So this is Kakariko Village," said Sylvia as she and the others got off their horses, "I already knew this is where the Sheikah live but there sure are a lot of them here compared to the ones at the castle."
"Queen Zelda, Consort Link, Prince Isaac, it's good to see you all," said a Sheikah who walked over to them.
"Symin," said Zelda, "It's been a while." "Allow me to introduce you to Isaac's suitor." This is Sylvia." Sylvia, this is Symin, the director of Hateno Tech Lab." "It was originally owned by our old friend Purah but after she died a few years ago, it was handed to her assistant."
"Is Doctor Jerrin here too," asked Link.
"She is," answered Symin.
"In that case," suggested Zelda, "Why not we find her and talk about our research." "Isaac, Sylvia, Why don't you two go with Paya to the cemetery."
"Why do we need to go there," asked Sylvia."
"To pay respect to Impa," explained Isaac.
"It's something I do every year ever since she died," explained Paya, "Impa was my grandmother."
At the cemetery, Paya placed flowers at Impa's grave while Isaac and Sylvia watched.
"I hope you're doing well Grandmother," said Paya, "Hyrule is doing great and I've done the best I could at the duties you had."
Paya then stood and looked at Isaac and Sylvia.
"I'll stay here a while longer why don't you go back to the village," suggested Paya, "the festival will start soon."
Isaac and Sylvia then went back to the village and by that time, they saw a huge increase in people who had arrived.
"Prince Isaac, over here," shouted some voices which got Isaac and Sylvia's attention which turned out to be two Zora children and a young Gerudo.
"So you guys are here as well," said Isaac as he and Sylvia came over.
You know we come here every year said one of the Zora who was a boy, "We are the children of those who played a big role in taking down Ganon."
"If I may ask, who is that girl with you," asked the other Zora who was a girl."
"Um, I'm Sylvia," introduced Sylvia.
"It's nice to meet you Sylvia," said the Gerudo, "I'm Qwara, daughter of the Gerudo Chief and these two are Prince Arash and Princess Walta of the Zora." "Is there a reason she is with you Isaac?"
"Because she is my suitor," answered Isaac, "Though we're both not sure if we should marry."
It was then, everyone's attention was drawn to the center of town. After that, Zelda stood out.
"I am glad to see everyone here," said Zelda starting a speech, "As you know, today we celebrate the defeat of Ganon and the restoration of Hyrule." "I can only hope that this hard, won peace we live in now will stay this way for as long as possible." "Now let us enjoy that peace with our yearly festival."
With Zelda's speech finished, the festival began. Many musicians from all of the races played music unique to each tribe which combined into something many thought was fantastic music. Several people then started to dance to the music while some of them started to talk to each other or eat food that was being served.
"Everyone sure is having fun," said Sylvia.
"It's one of Hyrule's biggest events," explained Isaac, "I wonder when the archery contest will begin?"
"It will begin soon," answered a Rito who heard Isaac, "Most of the Rito are looking forward to it."
"How come you aren't playing with the other musicians Kass," asked Qwara.
"Your music is really good," added Arash, "It does make me wonder as well."
"My music doesn't really mix well with others," explained Kass, "Though I see we have someone who is unfamiliar with it."
"This is Sylvia, my suitor," said Isaac, "Anyway, I think I'll go see if I can enter the contest."
"That Isaac," said Kass to Sylvia as Isaac left the group, "He always was interested in knowing how to fight but had few opportunities to learn." "I suggest you watch him and see how things turn out."
"Uh okay," replied Sylvia and she headed there as well followed by Walta, Arash, and Qwara.
At the Archery Contest, many people from each tribe participated only for a Goron to win while Isaac went in the top twenty.
"The Gorons usually don't win the contest," explained Walta to Sylvia. "Though that one does practice it more than the others."
"His name is Cargan," explained Arash, "We're told that he studies all kinds of fighting in order to be a fierce warrior."
"Isaac never really gets close to winning but he does have fun from it," revealed Qwara.
"Isaac," said Link who went over to his son after the archery contest," Are you going to dance with Sylvia?" "She is your suitor after all and we expect you to be with her during this time."
"But you know I'm not into dancing," complained Isaac who rarely danced.
"Even so," said Link, "It is expected of you as the Prince of Hyrule." "Don't disappoint us."
"Fine," said Isaac in defeat, "Sylvia would you like to dance?"
"I guess so," answered Sylvia and they started to dance to the music.
While they danced, Isaac noticed how Sylvia was good enough to counter any mistakes he made and they continued that way for a while.
"You're very good at that," complimented Isaac to Sylvia when they stopped.
"I was given lots of dance lessons from professionals," explained Sylvia.
"I see you are enjoying things Isaac," said Zelda who had watched the dancing.
"I was just surprised by Sylvia's skill that's all," said Isaac in defence."
"Even so," said Zelda, "It really looked like you were having fun." "By the way Sylvia, I would like to introduce you to some special people and I would like you to be there as well Isaac."
Zelda then brought Isaac and Sylvia to an area where one of each of the Gorons, Zora, Rito, and Gerudo were hanging out and discussing until they noticed Zelda and company.
"Sylvia," said Zelda, "These are the leaders of the four races, Sidon, King of the Zora, Yunobo, Boss of the Gorons, Riju, Chief of the Gerudo, and Teba, Leader of the Rito." "They were a big help when Link and I stopped Calamity Ganon."
"So you are the prince's suitor," said Sidon, "My twin children told me about you as well." "It would seem that Zelda has a good taste in choosing a bride for her son."
"I'm not sure of that," replied Teba, "The whole arrangement is odd to me." "I don't quite get it honestly."
"Don't mind Teba, "said Riju, "The Rito were the most surprised out of the four races to learn of Link and Zelda's survival and are not as used to the changes as the rest of us."
"I heard you're from another land," said Yunobo, "Does it have good mining, "We Gorons would like to try something new with mining."
"I guess it does," said Sylvia answering Yunobo's question. "We don't do it the same as you however."
After some additional talking with the leaders, Zelda, Isaac and Sylvia went back to celebrate. A few hours later, the festival ended and it was time for everyone to return home.
"Did you have fun Sylvia," asked Zelda.
"It was enjoyable," admitted Sylvia, "Seeing all of those races wasn't easy but I did get along with Isaac's friends."
"That's great to hear," said Zelda.
Later, the royal family and company returned to the castle. At that time, Zelda and Link had a private conversation.
"It was nice to see Isaac dancing with Sylvia," said Zelda, "I sure hope this plan succeeds." "Sylvia might be a great addition to the family."
"But more than that," said Link, "She might be able to make Isaac happy when we're gone."
"I hope so," said Zelda.
