The Knighting Ceremony
It had already been a month since the festival. During that time, Isaac was made to spend as much time with Sylvia as possible. Even though they both got along, the thought of marriage still didn't sink in.
It was in the morning after Isaac's tutoring which he now had to share with Sylvia. He was in the garden with a practice sword trying to teach himself swordplay.
"You're really trying hard," said Sylvia who was watching, "Do you think you'll ever be as good as your father?"
"Doubtful," said Isaac who decided to stop because he was tired, "My father is the greatest warrior in Hyrule and there's no way I can catch up to him." "If only Mother would give me an instructor then I could do better at least."
"Your Highness," said Paya who came in, "Your mother wants you in the throne room with her and your father." "This year's knighting ceremony is today and you know you must be there." "You should also be there Sylvia."
"So it's today," said Isaac, "Very well, I hope we get some promising new recruits."
Isaac and Sylvia then left the garden for the throne room and decided to converse on the way.
"Sylvia," asked Isaac, "Have you ever seen a knighting ceremony before in Forauner?"
"Actually I have," answered Sylvia," "As the king's niece, I saw a few of them." "Some used weapons while others used magic."
"What's it like to use magic can you do it," asked Isaac."
"Not really," explained Sylvia, "I never had a reason to learn it." "I guess if I did fight, I would prefer swords and bows like you."
"Well that's interesting to know," said Isaac.
A few minutes later, they arrived in the throne room where the saw Zelda, Link, and several knights.
"Isaac, Sylvia," said Zelda once she saw them, "Please have a seat with us the ceremony will begin soon."
After they sat down, Zelda ordered the knight leader, Tremain, to begin.
"It is with great pleasure that today, we will have new knights joining us to assist in protecting Hyrule and it's peace," started Tremain, "Will the new recruits please stand before the Queen?"
After Tremain spoke, six Hylians who were slightly older than Isaac and Sylvia, with four being male and two being female, walked to Zelda and bowed to her.
"I see you have worked hard in your training to make it here," said Zelda, "I ask all of you to promise that you will do everything in your strength to protect Hyrule."
"We promise," said the youths in unison.
"Good," said Zelda, "Now when Tremain calls your name, you will come closer to me so I can knight you and then you will step back to let the next do the same."
"Emory, your first," said Tremain which made the one of the boys come over and was knighted by Zelda, "Next is Naarah," and one of the girls was knight, "Chance," after being told another boy was knighted, "Clement," which led to the knighting of the third boy, "Idun," and the other girl was knighted, "And finally, Rudy," and the last boy was knighted.
"From this day forth, you are all knights in service to the royal family," said Zelda, "Here are your positions." And Zelda handed each of them documents that would tell them.
"They seem like capable knights," said Isaac some time later after the ceremony ended, "I wonder what positions they'll take?"
"You'll see another time," said Zelda, "Anyway, I have another business to attend to" and with that, Zelda went for her study.
"Your mother is very busy isn't she," commented Sylvia.
"From what I've been told, It's common for Hyrule's rulers to be busy and it's likely going to be the same for me," said Isaac, "What about you Father?"
"I will see how the new knights are doing," answered Link, "I may be the Queen's consort, but as a former knight and hero, I have several other duties." And Link then left.
After he left, Isaac and Sylvia left the throne room as well and decided to spend the rest of the day watching some of the other knights train and doing their duties.
