A/N: Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.

Kurt's cell phone started buzzing in his pocket for the third time that evening, but he was unable to reach it. He looked down at the boy sleeping in his arms and smiled sadly running his hand through Blaine's curls. Kurt knew that he needed to go home, but he didn't want to leave Blaine alone. After close to three hours of crying the boy was finally asleep, and while Kurt loved being so close to the person he was in love with, it was breaking his heart to know what his boyfriend had been through since the very beginning of his pregnancy.

When Kurt's phone started buzzing again, he knew that it was time to go. The blue-eyed boy kissed gently the top of Blaine's head and carefully got out of bed placing a pillow in the boy's arms. Blaine immediately cuddled to the pillow making Kurt smile slightly. He stood next to the bed for a few minutes just watching Blaine and then excited the room quietly closing the door behind himself.

Kurt walked down the stairs and stood in the hallway not knowing if he should say good-bye to Blaine's parents or not. He really didn't want to talk them after seeing the result of their 'good intentions', but they probably wanted to know if Blaine was alright. Kurt sighed and walked down the hallway, towards the living room from where he could hear muffed voices.

When he entered the room, Monic and Paul were sitting on the sofa. The TV was on even though neither of them seemed to be watching it. The hazel-eyed woman looked at Kurt and saddened as she noticed that Kurt was more than a little angry at her and her husband. "Kurt, dear. Are you going home already?"

"Yes, I promised my dad that I would spend at least one day with my family." Kurt replied not really knowing what to say to them. "Blaine's asleep."

She nodded her head. "I know that you probably think that we are bad parents, but it's not like that. We don't want our son to be unhappy." She smiled sadly. "I just like to think that I can make everyone happy. Sadly, it's not true."

Paul grabbed her hand and smiled sadly at her wife. "I hope Blaine will forgive us." He said.

"He most definitely will." Kurt said looking between the two of them. "You just have to let Blaine make his own decisions. He's not a little child anymore and by doing what you think is right for him you might hurt and lose your son."

"You should call Christine and explain gently to her why we can't help them." Paul Anderson spoke up smiling sadly at his wife. "I know that she is like a sister to you, but our son is more important. Maybe the situation is not perfect, but if this is something that Blaine wants so desperately, we should let him keep the baby." Paul smiled softly at Monic wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

Monic looked down at her hands and nodded her head. "I know, darling. I just…I feel so helpless."

Paul squeezed her shoulders as Monic leaned against her husband. Knowing that it was a personal moment, Kurt quietly excited the room and tip-toed to the front door. Once he was dressed in a warm coat and a scarf was wrapped around his neck, he left the house and walked down the path towards his car. As soon as he was sitting in the driver seat, Kurt closed his eyes and rested his head against the backrest letting out a groan.

He was exhausted. After only five hours of sleep the night before, and the eventful day Kurt just wanted to take a hot, relaxing shower and go to sleep. Kurt sighed. First he had to call his father. He was probably worried sick. The blue-eyed boy pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and unlocked the screen. Surely, all the missed calls were from Burt Hummel.

Kurt stared at the device in his hands for a couple of minutes not really knowing how to explain everything to his dad. Burt Hummel still didn't know just how difficult Blaine's situation was. Of course Kurt knew that his father was an accepting person, but his reaction after hearing that Blaine was pregnant (with someone else's baby, no less) wouldn't be very good. He knew that sooner or later he would have to tell everything, but Kurt wasn't sure if today was the day. He should talk about it with Blaine first, and now was not the best time for that conversation.

Even though Kurt still had no idea what to tell his father, he dialed Burt's number and held the phone up to his ear.

"Kurt?" As soon as he heard his father's worry-filled voice, Kurt felt guilty for not calling him earlier. "Where are you? You should have been home two hours ago."

"I know, dad. I'm still Westerville." Kurt explained. "I should be home in about two hours."

There was a short pause. "Good." Burt said a lot calmer. "Care to explain to me what's going on?"

Kurt bit his bottom lip. How was he supposed to explain something like that over the phone? "Uh, it's kind of complicated."

"If by 'kind of complicated' you mean spending the whole day on making up with your boyfriend, then you're in serious trouble." Kurt opened his mouth to say that it wasn't like that, but Burt wasn't finished yet. "For God's sake, Blaine's house is not that far away from Dalton, isn't it? Can't you just visit him during the week?"

Kurt sighed. "Dad, it's not like I don't want to be home with you. Blaine just really needed me to be with him today, and I am his boyfriend, so it's my job to make sure that he's alright."

"Is everything okay with him?" A slight smile appeared on Kurt's face upon hearing the concern in his father's voice. It was nice to know that he cared at least a little about Blaine's well-being.

But then the smile disappeared as he remembered that Blaine was in fact not okay. "Not really." Kurt said truthfully.

"What's wrong? Is this about the bullies at McKinley?" Burt asked.

"No, it's not that." At least not yet, his mind added. "It's really complicated."

"Just come home." Kurt's father said. "Then we can talk more about it."

Kurt didn't know if he could tell his father anything, but he nodded his head anyway, forgetting that his dad couldn't see him and said. "Okay. See you later."

"Drive safely."

Kurt pocketed his cell phone and started the engine. First he had to stop by the local café, because there was no way that he would be able to drive for two long hours without any additional energy in his system.

As soon as Kurt parked his Navigator in front of the house he could see his father standing by the window. He killed the engine and just sat in the car for a couple of minutes trying to come up with something to tell his father. Kurt knew that he couldn't lie. Burt would know right away that his son wasn't telling the truth. But was he allowed to tell him about Blaine's pregnancy? Kurt was sure that his father wouldn't tell anyone if he was told not to, but there was no way that he was going to share Blaine's secret without his permission.

Reluctantly, Kurt excited the car and walked over to the house. When he entered the building he immediately felt ten times better. It was warm inside and well, he truly missed this place. Dalton was a great school and Kurt loved his crazy roommates, but nothing could replace a home.

Kurt shrugged off his coat and took off his shoes. It was almost nine PM which meant that since it was Saturday Carole was on a night shift and Finn was either playing games in his room or goofing around with Puck.

Kurt walked into the kitchen, fully aware that his dad would be waiting there for him. Surely, Burt was sitting by the table with two cups filled with something hot. "Hi, dad." Kurt greeted him sitting down and wrapping his hands around the cup.

"Hello, Kurt." Burt said watching his son carefully. He took a sip of his drink and went straight to the point. "Would you like to explain to me now what's going on?"

Kurt looked down at the cup of hot tea and took a sip. He put the cup down, licked his lips and looked up at his father. "Blaine…he's not really in the best emotional state."

It didn't look like it was enough to satisfy Burt. "Why? What's wrong with him? I get that changing school may be kind of tough on a kid, but is that a good reason to keep you in Westerville during the weekend when you two can see each other almost every day?"

"It's not that easy, dad." Kurt said. "Dalton is a lot different than McKinley. The teachers actually want me to get a proper education, so it is hard to find time for anything between doing homework and studying for exams. Besides, it's not even the reason why Blaine is upset. It's something else."

"Stop dancing around the subject like that, Kurt. Just tell me what's wrong." Burt said looking at his son with determination, but also sympathy.

"I wish I could tell you, but I can't. It's something really personal and I'm not sure if Blaine wants you to know." Kurt said hoping that his father wouldn't push him anymore.

Burt rubbed his chin, still looking at his son. "Is it something with his family?"

"Kind of."

Burt's face softened. "Is it about his parents? Are they homophobic?"

"No, they aren't homophobic. This has nothing to do with his sexuality." Kurt said. "Leave it, dad. If Blaine decides that it's okay to tell you, I will."

"Okay." Burt said softly. "I hope it's nothing serious." Kurt took another sip of his tea. "How's school?"

"Good." Kurt said honestly. "Hard, but good."

Burt just stared at his son for a minute while Kurt slowly sipped his drink. "Are you okay?"

Kurt looked up at him in surprise and confusion. "What do you mean?"

"You have to take care of yourself, kiddo." Burt said. "Just look at yourself. You've got dark shadows under your eyes and you're barely awake." He pointed out. "I understand that your boyfriend is important for you, but you can't forget about yourself."

"Today is exception." Kurt said. "It's not always like this."

"I'm just worried about you." Burt said standing up from the chair. "Your phone calls are really rare." He took the empty cup and put it in the sink. "A relationship can take a lot out of person." Burt turned around and looked down at his son. "Do you think that he would do something like that for you, whatever that was?"

"Dad, he stood up for me at McKinley! I think that's enough of a proof." Kurt said.

Burt was silent for a moment. "If you think so, then I guess I have to respect that."

Kurt sighed in relief. "Thank you, dad."

Burt smiled slightly. "Now come over here and give your old man a hug." Kurt smiled back, stood up and melted in his father's arms. "It's good to have you here."

"Yeah, I should definitely make these visits more frequent." Kurt said into his father's shoulder.

"Now go to sleep. I can see how tired you are." Burt said pulling away.

At the mention of sleep, a yawn escaped Kurt's mouth. "That's probably a good idea. Good night."

"Good night."

Kurt walked up the stairs, took a long shower and went straight to sleep. He didn't call Blaine since the dark-haired boy was most likely still asleep.

As soon as Kurt's head hit the pillow he fell asleep, happy to finally be back in his own bed.

The next day Kurt woke up to the delicious smell of pancakes and fried bacon. He slowly blinked his eyes open and looked around the room. Then Kurt realized that he wasn't going to be yelled at for taking too long in the bathroom or dragged into one of his roommates' stupid and senseless fights. He reached out for his cell phone and his eyes went wide as he saw what time it was. It was nearing 10 AM. Well, most of the teenagers wouldn't think much of it, but for Kurt Hummel it was really late. Almost half of his day was wasted. But at least he was well-rested for once.

Kurt stretched out his limbs and sat up straight. He should probably call Blaine and ask if he was alright. He didn't want Blaine to think that he didn't care about him, but he was also a little scared that he was going to hear that his boyfriend was still miserable.

He took a deep breath and dialed Blaine's phone number.

"Hello?" Blaine's voice seemed to be drained from emotions. It worried Kurt a little.

"Hi, Blaine. How are you doing?" Kurt asked, getting straight to the point.

There was short pause. "I'm managing."

Kurt tried to distract Blaine by talking about some trivial things that he knew Blaine loved, but it didn't seem to work well. Blaine just kept quiet most of the time answering Kurt's questions only when it was necessary.

"Look, Kurt." Blaine finally said cutting off Kurt's rambling. "I know that you're trying to make me feel better, but I guess I just need to be alone for a while. You can come over during the week, but now I'm not really in a mood for a conversation. I have to be left alone with my thoughts to figure things out in my head." He stopped for a moment. "And I'm aware that I'm making a huge deal out of nothing, but this is just the way I am. I can't decide if I'm more mad at my parents or disappointment with myself for being selfish enough to want to keep the baby."

"This is a big deal, Blaine." Kurt said clutching the phone tightly to his ear. "You shouldn't have been forced to meet them. And you definitely shouldn't blame yourself for having feelings. You are allowed to love your baby. Even if she or he isn't born yet"

"Thank you." Blaine said, his voice breaking. "Thank you so much, but I just need to be alone. Please?"

"Sure." Kurt said as the tears started gathering in his eyes. "See you next week."

"See you."

Kurt put the phone down and took a couple of deep breaths. All he wanted was to be there with Blaine and hold him in his arms. He wanted to tell him that maybe it seemed like his world was shattering into pieces once again, but he would be okay eventually. After his short conversation with Monic and Paul Kurt knew that they weren't going to force Blaine into this nonsense anymore.

Once he was calm, Kurt went through his moisturizing routine, dressed and joined his family in the kitchen. They all seemed very surprised, by his late arrival, but no one made a big deal out of it. The blue-eyed boy ate his breakfast trying not to show his family how worried he was. Carole and Finn seemed to buy it; however, Burt kept looking at his son in concern.

For a moment Kurt managed to stop thinking about all the bad things and was able to enjoy the day with his family. He had a chance to catch up with Carole while they were making dinner together. The woman kept asking about Blaine, school and the Warblers. Kurt couldn't tell her much about Blaine's problems, but he told her all about how amazing and wonderful his boyfriend was. They ate the dinner together joking and listening to Burt's stories about weird customers.

After that they all watched a couple of movies and before Kurt was able to enjoy spending time with his family to the full it was time to go. But first he had one more thing to do.

When Kurt was all ready to go, he swung his small bag over his shoulder and walked down the hallway towards Finn's room. He knocked twice, but no one answered. Knowing that his step-brother was probably playing computer games with his ear buds in, he entered the room and surely he found Finn glued to the bright computer screen.

"Finn!" Kurt called, but his brother was still focused on the game. The brown-haired boy rolled his eyes in annoyance and shook Finn's shoulder.

The tall boy took out the ear buds and turned on the desk chair to face his step-brother. "Can't it wait?" He asked. "Dude, I'm in the middle of a game!"

"I think you can pause it for a second." He said crossing his arms over his chest. Finn muttered something under his breath, turned back to the computer and pushed a few buttons before facing Kurt again. "Great. Now when I have your attention, I really need you to focus." Kurt said seriously. "This is about Blaine."

Finn raised his eyebrows. "What about him?"

"Listen, I just need you to keep an eye on him. Okay?" Kurt asked hoping that Finn would understand. "You have to keep the jocks away from him."

No, Finn didn't seem to understand. He was looking at Kurt as if the boy was speaking in German. "Why would I do that? The jocks don't even know that Blaine is gay, I think."

"Yes, I know." Kurt said calmly. "But it might change soon."

"Why?" Finn asked, clearly confused.

"It doesn't really matter now." Kurt said. "But, please, just don't let anyone hurt him, okay?" He knew that he sounded really desperate, but he didn't care much.

"Sure." Finn said seeing how serious his brother was. "What is it all about, Kurt? Is Blaine planning to come out?"

Kurt opened his mouth and closed a few times. "Kind of." He finally said, even though it wasn't true. Well, Blaine would be forced out of the closet soon enough, but it wouldn't be his decision. "Thank you, Finn. I owe you one." He smiled slightly at the taller boy and left his room after saying good-bye.

Both Carole and Burt hugged the life out of him and by the time Kurt left the house, he was filled with love and warmth. Of course he felt sad for leaving his family behind, but Dalton was now his home too. The Warblers were like a family to him even though he still missed horribly his friends from McKinley High.

Kurt got into his Navigator and started his long journey back to Westerville. He wished he could visit Blaine and check if he was alright, but he didn't want to upset him even more. If Blaine wanted to be left alone for the time being, Kurt had to respect that and hope that Blaine was doing fine by himself.

When the blue-eyed boy parked his car among the expensive ones in the Dalton parking lot he was once again reminded how different he was from most of the students of the school. Most of their parents were rich while Kurt's were barely able to pay for his education. He felt bad that Burt had to spend so much money on his safely, but at least he didn't have to be worried about the bullies anymore.

Kurt wished he could keep his boyfriend safe as well, but for now he had to rely on his friends. Kurt knew that they were great people and they would do their best to protect Blaine, but none was able to predict everything.

He got out of the car, locked it and started walking down the path towards the main building. Kurt really liked looking at all the trees in the garden. Even though it was still winter, they looked incredible wrapped up in a duvet made of snow. Kurt couldn't wait to see Dalton Academy and its garden in spring scenery. There was a small fountain hidden behind the trees in the back yard (a place where couple liked to make out when it was warm, according to Jeff) where birds liked to give a performance. Kurt was aware that Blaine probably knew this place like the back of his hand, but he really wanted to go there with him one day for a picnic or something like that.

Kurt entered the building and walked to the section where the dormitories were. He walked up the stairs saying hi to some of the students and trying not to look at the cheesy pictures on the walls. He entered the room only to be met with his two roommates sitting on the floor with pillows around them and a laptop on Nick's lap. As soon as Kurt closed the door with a click, the boys looked up at him and smiled. Nick closed the laptop and stood up from the floor. Jeff followed the suit and they both just stared at their roommate for a while not saying a word.

The blue-eyed boy took off his coat and hung it in the closet. "Um, hi?" He greeted his friends not really knowing what they wanted from him.

"How's Blaine? He's phone is turned off." Jeff said not bothering to greet Kurt. "We're worried about him."

Kurt sighed, sitting down on his bed which thankfully wasn't covered with dirty clothes or comic books. "Blaine's not really in the best shape." Kurt said honestly. "He still can't get over the meeting with Christine and Brian, I guess. I'm not surprised. That woman is slightly more pushy that we thought she would be and Blaine said that he would think about giving them his baby which means that now he's mad at himself for giving them false hope."

Jeff and Nick shared a look and sat down on the bed. "But why isn't he answering our calls?" Nick asked worriedly.

"Because he needs space, so we should all back down for a while and leave him alone." Kurt said, trying and failing to hide his sadness. "He doesn't even want me, and I should be able to make him feel better somehow. I'm his boyfriend after all."

"Don't be so hard on yourself." Nick said softly. "You're not the one to blame for this whole mess."

"I know." Kurt said looking down at his hands. "I just wish I could do something more to help him. I feel so helpless. While we are all here he has to fear for his baby's life every day. How is that fair?"

"It's not." Jeff said moving to sit next to Kurt. "But there's nothing we can do about it."

Kurt was aware of that fact, but it didn't make him think that this situation was okay. Blaine had to struggle with so many problems and he couldn't even be with his friends and boyfriend as often as he would like. "I wish I could make him feel less alone."

Jeff wrapped his arm around Kurt's shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly. They sat in silence for a couple of minutes until a huge grin formed on Jeff's lips. Kurt looked at him in confusion. "I've got an idea!" The blond boy said excitedly.

Kurt had to admit that he was kind of afraid, but he hoped that Jeff's idea would change something for the better.

Kurt turned on the radio and started singing along to the song. Finally, after getting a phone call from Blaine, he could visit his boyfriend. The road was slippery because of the heavy rain, so Kurt had to drive impossibly slow, but he couldn't risk hitting the tree or running somebody over. He kept glancing at the back seat through the review window to make sure that a small ball of fur was still safely in a carton box.

He really hoped that getting Blaine a puppy was a good idea. Kurt knew from his Dalton friends that Blaine loved dogs, so it seemed like the best way to cheer him up. He just kept asking himself the same question over and over. What about Blaine's parents? What if they didn't want an animal to soil their floors and furniture? Well, he hoped that they were desperate enough to agree for anything just to make their son a little happier.

It was half past four when Kurt parked his Navigator in front of Blaine's house. He got out of the car and picked up the carton box before he walked towards the house. Kurt rang the doorbell, adjusted his hold on the box and waited patiently for the door to open.

Less than a minute later Kurt heard footsteps followed by the sound of key being turned in the hole. The door swung open revealing Monic's tired, but still somehow friendly face. "Oh, hello, Kurt. Come in." She said smiling weakly at the blue-eyed boy. The dark-haired woman stepped aside letting Kurt in. In that moment the content of the carton box whined. Monic looked suspiciously at it. "What's there?" She asked raising her eyebrows.

Kurt decided that being straight-forward was the best strategy. "A dog." He answered simply. "Could you hold it for a second?" Kurt forced the box into her arms and shrugged off his coat. Monic hesitantly opened it and looked inside. "It's for Blaine." Kurt said before she had a chance to ask. Upon seeing a weird expression on the woman's face, Kurt's bravado disappeared. "I hope it's okay."

Monic looked at the small puppy inside for a moment and then turned her gaze back at Kurt. "It's fine. Blaine loves animals." She said with a small smile. "But what are we supposed to do with this dog while Blaine is at school?"

"I thought you would help with that." Kurt said looking hopefully at her.

"This dog will probably help Blaine a lot." She paused for a moment. "Yes, I think I'm able to help with that."

Kurt smiled taking the box from her. "Blaine's upstairs in his room, right?" He asked.

Monic nodded her head. "Yes." Her weak smile was replaced with a frown. "He's still isn't talking to us."

"Have you told Christine and Brian that Blaine isn't able to give them what they want?" Kurt asked hopefully.

Monic looked away. "No." She said sadly. "I…I just don't really know what to say. I have to find the best way to tell them that."

"Well, do it quick." Kurt said not even trying to hide his disappointment. He left Monic alone in the hall and walked up the stairs. When Kurt stopped in front of the door to Blaine's room, he could hear the soft sound of Blaine's guitar. He smiled softly and knocked against the door, eager to see Blaine's reaction to his gift.

Blaine clearly stopped playing the guitar as the beautiful sounds stopped reaching his ears. "Come in." Kurt finally heard his boyfriend's deep voice.

He pushed the door open and entered the room slowly. Blaine was sitting on his bed dressed in a blue sweater and a pair of loose sweatpants with his guitar resting in his lap. His hair still looked like a helmet made of cement and Kurt felt kind of sad that he wouldn't be able to run his fingers through the soft curls.

Blaine lifted up his gaze and smiled slightly at Kurt as soon as their eyes met. Then he looked down at the carton box questioningly. "Hello." Kurt greeted him cheerfully. "I've got a little gift for you."

"Oh, really?" Blaine said, clearly really surprised. "You really didn't have to get me anything."

Kurt waved his hand dismissively. "I can't return it now, so I hope you will like it." He sat down on the bed next to his boyfriend and placed the box into his arms once the guitar was in its case.

Blaine looked inside the box and his golden eyes went wide. "Is this…is this a dog?"

"Yeah," Kurt said, suddenly feeling nervous. What if Blaine didn't want to have a dog after all? "Well, you like dogs, don't you? So I thought that a dog would be good for you. You wouldn't be so lonely in this big house."

Blaine carefully took the puppy out of the box and looked at it. It was a gorgeous chocolate Labrador. The puppy whined adorably looking at Blaine with its big black eyes. The dark-haired boy pulled the puppy close to his chest and rubbed the dog between its ears. "Do you like it?" Kurt asked already knowing the answer.

"Kurt, I…" Blaine closed his mouth, obviously not able to find words. Kurt noticed that his golden eyes were just a little too bright. "I don't really know what to say." He finally said flashing Kurt a blinding smile. "Thank you. I always wanted to have a dog."

Kurt returned the smile watching Blaine in amazement. "How do you want to name her?" He asked.

The dog yawned making their smiles grow even wider. "Maggie." He said after a moment.

They sat in silent for a couple of minutes until the dog fell asleep. Then Blaine's smile faded a little. "I am really thankful, but what am I supposed to do with her when I am at school?"

"Don't worry about that." Kurt said moving so close that their thighs were pressed together. "Your mom is willing to take care of her when you're away." He placed his hand on Blaine's knee looking deeply into his eyes. "Have you talked to her?"

"Not really." He mumbled.

Kurt didn't tell him that he thought that Blaine should try to talk things out with her, because the younger boy already knew that. He just wrapped his arms around Blaine's waist and pulled him even closer. They watched the sleeping puppy in silence not bothering to think about the world around them.
