It was another typical late night for Mac; this was her new normal right now, since the Admiral had assigned her this new case. The case had been consuming all her nights; taking a chance she glanced out her window and she noticed that Harm was also still in the building. Deciding that she was tired and hungry; she got up and made her way over to his office.
She reached his door and she tapped gently on the widow. Harm looked up and motioned for her to walk inside; opening the door she made her way inside. "I was just thinking about ordering a pizza, do you want to go half with me?"
"Actually I'm done here; and I was about to leave. Why don't we grab a bite together?"
"Well; I'm not really ready..."
"Come on Mac it's late, your work will still be here in the morning, plus a nice meal is better than pizza," he said as he flashed her his famous flyboy grin.
Mac knew she was a goner now; why on earth did he have to flash that grin? "Okay; fine, you win, but you don't play fare. Let me grab my stuff and I'll meet you at the elevator."
"Deal." Harm said as he started shutting off his computer. Mac headed back over to office and she closed the case file she was reviewing. She shut down her computer, once she'd finished she picked up her case, cover and purse, turned off her lights and headed out towards the elevator.
Harm was already there waiting for her, he pushed the down button. "So where do you want to go?"
"How about Wong's House of Noodles?"
"What?, no Beltway Burgers?"
"Really; Harm I can compromise."
Harm chuckled to himself.
"What's so funny?"
"Just the thought of you compromising," before either one could finish what they where talking about the doors opened. Harm extended his arm indicating Mac to enter ahead of him, once both where inside Harm hit the "L" button for lobby. They both stood and watched as the elevator started making its way down.
All of the sudden, the elevator jerked and jumped, coming to a stop and knocking Harm to the ground along with Mac. "Mac you okay?"
"Yes, thankfully I landed on you," she said with a slight chuckle. "Glad I was able to help ya out." Harm responded, and stood up to help Mac stand with him. He went over to the phone picking it up. The on call operator picked up. He told her that himself and Col MacKenzie were trapped inside the elevator. She informed him she'd place a call to maintenance, and in the meantime to remain where they are.
After hanging up, Harm looked at the phone disgusted. "Harm what's wrong?"
"I was just told to remain here, maintenance would be here soon to get us out."
"So we wait."
"Looks that way. Umm how's your case going?"
"It's not going well; I think I'm just worn out right now. I've not really been sleeping well at night, not that I was before."
"Insomnia? he questioned. I remember from when you stayed with me."
"You remember that?"
Harm blushed a little: "Yes, I remember everything you tell me."
"Really? You do?"
"I do."
"Why?"
"I think you know why."
"Really; are we going to start this again?"
"Start what again?"
"The mind games Harm, the answering questions with more questions. I thought we'd moved past this, before she could continue, she felt Harm's lips crash onto hers. The kiss was sweet and passion filled, but the longer they kissed the more intimate it was became. She felt his tongue push open her lips seeking out hers.
She opened them allowing him full access to her mouth. It was than he grabbed her pushing her up against the wall in the elevator.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, and began playing with his hair at the base. Moaning into his mouth, she could feel him; it was evident how much he wanted her.
"Harm... We can't... not here.. not like this.."
"Why not? I'm tired of..."
"Of what?"
"Waiting Mac! I'm tired of waiting for the right time, place, location, you name it. I'm just tired of waiting. I know I want you and I'm pretty sure you; you want me."
"I do want you. I just don't want our first time to be in the elevator at JAG."
Shocked at her words, Harm walked away from her to the other side of the elevator. He leaned against wall and slid down to the floor. Mac went over and sat down next to him. She placed her head on his shoulder lacing her hand with his. "Talk to me Harm."
"I... I've been a fool where your concerned. I've let my past cloud my sight."
"What do you mean."
"I was so worried about hurting you, that I pushed you away, by doing that I almost lost you to another man."
"But you didn't lose me, I'm right here."
"Would you have married Brumby if I hadn't crashed into the Atlantic?"
"I... I don't know..When everything happen that night, I was so upset. I thought I had lost not only my best friend but my..." Mac stopped. She looked away from Harm.
He used his free hand to turn her face back towards him. Seeing her tears falling; he used the pad of his thumb on his free hand to wipe them away. "Your what Sarah?"
"Harm.."
"I'll say it for both of us. Heart and Soul.. "
"No; love of my life. Harm you're the love of my life."
"You're mine as well, that's why it's hard for me to open up to you. I can't lose you. If I did I know I'd lose a part of myself."
"So where does this leave us now.?"
"Well for now, we wait.."
"What are waiting for Harm? We're both single..."
"We're still in the same chain of Command.."
"Really? That's what holding you back?"
"Yes and No. I want to be able to be with you without having to hide how I feel. Don't you want that too?"
"I just want to be with you Harm, I'm sick and tired of not getting what I need, damn it."
"That's all I want too." Both jumped when the elevator started to move once again. Harm stood up, and took Mac by the hand helping her to her feet. They both picked up their belongings and prepared for the doors to open. The elevator doors opened and they both walked out to the parking lot, upon reaching their cars both gave the other a glance. Harm broke the silence.
"Come to me later."
"I'll be there sailor. I'll be there."
( Should I end it here? Or do a epilogue? )
