Phineas and Ferb
Baby Adventures of Phineas
Chapter 19: The Helper
Disclaimer: Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me. It belongs to Dan Povenmire and Jeff Swampy Marsh, who have done an amazing job with this show the past 8 years.
Phineas was upstairs playing with his toys in his room. Downstairs, Linda was making noise trying to clean the house. Curious, Phineas stood up and waddled out the door and towards the stairs. Slowly, he made his way down the stairs and walked towards the kitchen. Linda was trying to wash the floor. "Hi Mommy!" He bellowed as loudly as he could, followed by laughter. "What'cha doin'?" He said as he ran towards the kitchen.
"Phineas, wait!" Linda pleaded, but by the time she spoke, Phineas had entered the kitchen. With the floor wet, he slid and plopped down on his rear end. After a moment of silence, he resumed laughing. Linda joined in the laughter.
"Mommy, what are you doing?" He asked as he stood up on his wobbly legs.
"I'm cleaning the floor."
He blinked. "Why?"
"Because it's dirty and it needs to be cleaned."
He blinked again. He clearly didn't understand, but his natural trait of helping kicked in. "Can I help, Mommy?"
Linda chuckled. "No, sweetie, you're too young to be helping me, but thank you."
"No Mommy I wanna help! I wanna!" Phineas started jumping up and down, hoping to change her mind. He laughed on repeat. Linda walked towards him and ruffled his hair.
"Phineas, Mommy has to use the bathroom. Will you stay and guard the kitchen until I get back?"
"Yes Mommy!" He blew her a kiss as she walked past him and up the stairs. Having been left alone to look after the kitchen, Phineas decided that he wanted to help, Mom be darned. He noticed a bucket in the kitchen next to the sink. He ran towards the bucket and climbed up it, using it to help climb up onto the sink. He grabbed a glass, figured out how to turn on the sink, and filled the cup with water. He then scanned the kitchen and found a sponge. He grabbed it too, and so very carefully, he climbed off of the sink and onto the bucket, helping himself back onto the ground. He found a dry spot on the floor and walked over towards it.
Just as this was happening, Linda came back into the room to find Phineas trying to help. He spilled the water on the ground and then got on his knees, sponge in his hand. "Phineas, what are you doing?"
"I help Mommy!" Phineas shouted gleefully as he spilled the water onto the dry spot and proceeded to applaud himself.
"But-"
"See, I gotted the water, and then I gotted this!" He held up the sponge. He then proceeded to reenact Linda washing the floor. "I do good, Mommy?"
Linda, though dismayed, couldn't help but laugh as Phineas tried to be a good boy. She leaned down and kissed the little toddler as he let out even more laughter. "You're doing very good, but I don't want you to be helping me here. You might get hurt. You're just a baby."
"But I wanna help. If I don't help, then I can't be a good boy." He said as he lowered his head and arms. She perked him right back up with a kiss and a tickle.
"Oh, Phineas, you are most certainly a good boy, but there are just some chores you're not old enough to help out with yet."
Phineas looked up at his mother, and then back at the ground. "Oh."
While Phineas was sulking, Candace walked in holding a mop. "Mom, I found the mop you-" Her attention immediately darted to Phineas, whose eyes lit up when he saw his big sister. He immediately began cheering and clapping for her. "Hi Phineas!" She said, as he ran towards her and leaped into her arms. "What are you doing?"
"Help!" He shouted. "I'm a helper, Candy."
"Why are you helping Mom wash the floor?" She said as she hugged him tighter. "You're just a baby." Phineas began to quietly whine and looked away from Candace. She kissed him gently on the cheek. "We love that you want to help, but this isn't for you yet. Just because you sit back on this doesn't make you any less of a good boy."
Phineas darted his eyes towards Candace. "Really?"
"Really. You'll get other chances to help."
"That's right. In fact, Phineas..." Linda grabbed Phineas, walked him into the living room, and plopped him right next to a wrapped box that was on the floor. "Can you help me with something?"
His eyes lit up and he cheered. "YES MOMMY I CAN HELP!"
"I need you to look after this box for me until I'm done cleaning the kitchen. Can you do that for me?"
Phineas looked at the box, and then he looked at Linda. He started nodding his head rapidly and laughing. "Yay, I'm helping!" She tussled his hair and kissed him once more and she and Candace resumed cleaning the kitchen. Phineas turned to face the box entirely and kept his eyes on it the entire time.
An hour later, Candace and Linda finished cleaning. Exhausted, they returned to the living room to find Phineas hugging the box, still paying all attention to it. They both smiled and silently awww'd. They walked towards him and picked him up. "Hi Phineas." Candace said; Phineas turned his head to her.
"Hi Candy! I'm helping!" He shouted excitedly. "Mommy, did I do good?"
Linda gave him a kiss. "Yes, yes you did. You did a great job. You helped great!" Phineas gasped happily, and then he started cheering and clapping. "Thank you for watching my box for me." Linda picked up the box off the floor as Candace took ownership of Phineas. "Why don't you kids go play upstairs?"
"Okay, Mom." Candace hugged Phineas as tightly as she could and kissed him as she carried him upstairs to her room and set him down with her toys. He had more than earned this playtime with her, but even if he had failed, they still would've loved him just as much. It's his endless desire to please people that they both admire and fret about.
End of Chapter 19!
So...I sincerely apologize that I haven't updated like anything in months. Apart from stupid home crap I've been dealing with, I've just had severe writer's block. But I want to get back into these stories, and hopefully this is a good start. So if anything that followed these stories is still following, I humbly salute you.
