Guest 3: Hi! Here! After a long time :P
xFantasyGalx: Second new chapter in two days! lol
TheyAlwaysUseADagger: Honestly I was shocked that I even got a review/viewers on this new chapter! I noticed that this forum hasn't been too active lately, so I wasn't really expecting anything to come from it. I reread Safe Haven to make sure I have the stories aligned fine, and I kinda wish I wrote some parts of it a bit differently, but I am glad you are intrigued by the story! :) Hopefully, this sequel does a better job of capturing my ideas that I wanted!
Mina's POV
"Teague!" was the last thing I yelled before getting pulled into the portal Teague created. I watched Shaylee's lifeless body lying in the pool of her own blood as the portal door closed and we were sucked into oblivion. I was overcome with guilt for everything I had put my friends through in the short time I've known them.
The guilt was quickly overshadowed by the feeling of being burned. My insides felt as they were being ripped apart. I am in so much pain. When will this end? As I started thinking I wasn't going to make it on this trip, I landed in a pool of water. The water was sparkling blue. There were golden flakes floating around in the body, too. I looked around, it was still dark, but it appeared the sun—no two suns were rising.
"Teague?" I realized I was alone.
Teague was holding my hand as he dragged me through the vortex, but now he is nowhere to be seen. I began to panic. I quickly began swimming to shore when I heard a noise. A song to be more specific. I turned towards the beautiful singing and started towards the voice. I couldn't control myself. I needed to see where this melody was coming from. Before I knew it, the singing stopped and I started to think more clearly. I was now in the middle of the lake, further from the shoreline than when I first landed.
Before I knew it, I was getting dragged under water. My arms flailed and I began screaming for help. Once my head was completely under, I opened my eyes, unsure if I'd even to be able to see. My gaze shifted to my ankle where I saw a tanned hand. I followed the arm to the attackers face to see a woman; ready to devour her prey.
I screamed underwater and desperately tried to free her grip. My lungs were burning. Suddenly the attackers face grew softer. She caressed my face, which gave me more oxygen. She eyed me curiously and that gave me more time to study her. She was tanned and freckled. Her brunette hair was long and wavy and had some green highlights hidden throughout. She opened her mouth, and I was ready to become breakfast.
"Sara?" My eyes widened. Did I hear that right? Did she just ask me if I was my mother?
I shook my head and next thing I know I was being brought to shore. The woman carried me out of the water and left me alone in the sand. Taking one last questioning look, the woman dove back into the lake.
I began freaking out. Who was that woman… what was she? How did she know my mother? Why did she decide to save me?
Shaken up, I started looking for Teague. I yelled his name many times; all with no response.
"Teague?" I looked around—nothing. There was no one in sight.
The two suns had fully risen and the sky was clear and painted various shades of blue. It was obviously morning. I had to have been on this plane for a few hours at this point, and there's still no sign of Teague.
I began walking aimlessly doing my best to fit into the unfamiliar Fae Plane. I walked what felt like 100 miles. I saw various fae walking around and creatures that didn't exist in the human dimension, but I didn't feel I was anywhere closer to finding the prince.
I sighed and sat down on an old stump I came across in a wooded area. My feet hurt and I was becoming defeated.
"I will never find him," I said while untying my shoes.
"Who?"
I jumped in fright. I had thought I was alone. I turn my gaze towards the stranger, and my face lit up.
"Teague!"
The man looked confused and slightly disgusted. "I haven't heard that name in a moment." The man walked closer to me while studying me. He looked identical to Teague, but a bit softer. His skin was tanned, and his hair was a bit lighter brown. And his eyes; they were stormy grey. If this wasn't Teague it had to have been—
"It's Jared." He reached out his hand towards me. I wasn't sure if I should take it. "And you?"
"Uhhh," I said not sure how to act in front of the ruler of the Fae Plane. "Mina" I curtseyed.
Jared chuckled, "There's no need for that, Miss. What are you doing in the Royal Forest?"
How am I supposed to respond to that? I can't simply say I didn't know. That has to be common fae knowledge, and I can't let the prince know that I am not from this plane.
"You seem a bit shaken up. Is everything okay?" He flashed me a comforting smile, displaying his perfectly straight pearly whites. I can't think about anything other than how handsome the royal brothers are.
I managed to shake my head even in my state of shock.
He nods his head, "Well let's get you some help, Mina. Do you need me to take you somewhere? Where's your family? Who is this boy you are looking for?"
Tears began falling down my face. I began thinking of the attack earlier this morning, the fight in the recycling center, The Grimm's, and the danger my family and friends are in.
The prince drew me into a hug, "Well, how about you let me bring you to the palace. I can get you a new set of clothes, some food, and whatever else you need before we try and figure out where your friend is."
I pulled away from his embrace and looked down at my ripped up black attire. I am unsure if it was the fight, the portal, or the attacker at the lake that did the damage, but a new change of clothes and some food sounded delightful.
"Yes, please. Thank you." Jared's smile grew larger. He whistled, and an extravagant griffin darted right towards us. He walked up to the magnificent creature and began patting its head.
I stared at the exchange dumbfounded. Jared noticed my amazement and started chuckling. "She's a beauty isn't she?"
My expression changed into a smile, "She's stunning."
"So is that smile of yours. I am glad to finally see it," My face turned pink at his compliment. Jared was as smooth as his brother.
The prince climbed onto the back of his griffin and pulled me up behind him. I wasn't sure where to place my hands, but as soon as the creature took off into the sky, I was forced to wrap my arms around his waist. Jared looked back at me with a sly grin.
"We are almost there!" I peaked my head around his shoulder and confusion set in.
"I don't see anything"
"Just wait." He laughed. Suddenly I heard a pop and before me was a glorious palace.
"Wow," was all I could make out after seeing the breathtaking view.
"We may have to sneak you in. Mother really isn't one for unexpected visitors." He winked at me.
I nodded in agreement. The less people that I have to lie to, the better. Especially when they happen to be a part of the Royal Family. The griffin edged near a balcony and Jared promptly hopped off his back.
"Don't worry I will catch you."
He must have seen the worry in my eyes. I am the biggest clutz I know, even a small jump could be deadly. I counted to three and jumped off the griffin and into Jareds arms. The balcony had glass double doors that led into what I assume was Jared's bedroom.
It was a large room, with a four post bed, a desk, wardrobe and even a couch. "You can stay here for now. I will run and get you some clothes."
Within a few minutes he was back with a plate of food and a dress.
He shrugged, "Sorry, the women in the castle don't typically wear trousers," He said glancing down at my black jeans. His eyes traced back up to my face. I blushed. Was he checking me out?
"Thank you, it's perfect. I really appreciate your help." I glanced at the plate of food, not recognizing anything on the plate.
I must have made some sort of reaction to the food, "I can get you something else if you'd like."
"Oh! No, I am okay. That is actually my favorite food." I said pointing to the plate, unsure of what that really was. He eyed me questionably but shook it off.
"Get some rest. I will check in with you in a few hours. I can help you find who you are looking for," He neared the door. "No one really comes in here other than me, so you should be okay as long as you don't start roaming the castle."
I cringed a bit knowing I couldn't tell Jared the person I was looking for was his exiled brother. "Well, you know where I will be. Thank you so much for your help." I say to him. He left the room and I quickly changed into the dress he lent me. It was a deep blue color and moon crystals on it. The dress was long enough to reach the group and had long sleeves. Not really my style, but it will have to do. I looked around the room for a mirror, but there wasn't one. I guess it's better to not know how much of a mess I look right now.
I crawled into the prince's bed and drifted off to sleep.
What do you think about Mina's encounter with Jared? What about the attacker in the lake? What/who could that have been?
Thanks for reading :) Review if you'd like :D
