Feels Like Heaven - Fiction Factory

I woke up pretty early the next morning. It looked like the sun was just starting to peak through and I sighed as I turned on my side to face Five, who still had his back to me. I picked my head up a little bit and saw Luther with his head leaning back against the chair he was sleeping on. He looked really uncomfortable but better him than me. Is that wrong of me to think?

I shimmied up the bed until I was leaning against the headboard and ran my hands through Five's hair like I was doing last night. I continued to do it for a while as I enjoyed the silence. I didn't notice when Five began to wake until I heard him hum in appreciation.

"I know I don't say it much but I love you." He said quietly.

I stopped what I was doing and leaned down to whisper in his ear slyly, "Do you mean me or Delores?"

Five shot up so quickly, he headbutted me in the lip and split it open. I cursed as I brought my thumb to my lip, wiping the blood away. I licked my lip, tasting the metallic flavour of my blood and glared at my little?... older? Whatever, we'll just say little brother.

He didn't seem to care as he glared right back, pointing at my face, "Don't breathe a word of this to anyone or I WILL kill you. Understand?"

I couldn't help but smirk at his reaction, "Fine but only if you answer my question."

"Obviously I meant you. I could see Delores resting over there." He gestured to the chair Diego had placed her on.

Alright, so Five was a prick at the best of times but he could be sweet when he wanted to be. We had similar moments like this before he disappeared and it made me sad that I missed growing up with him. And just to show him how much I love and missed him, I threw my arms around him and brought him in for a tight hug. I refused to go, even when Five instantly tried to push me away. He could teleport so I knew he could get away if he really wanted too.

A snort from the chair startled us into looking at Luther who seemed to wake himself up from it and he raised an eyebrow when he looked at us. My arms were tightly around Five, pulling him to me and Five's arms were on my shoulders, trying to pry me off him.

"What are you guys doing?"

"I'm trying to show my little bro here some love." I grinned as I kissed the top of his head and let him go.

Five glared at me as he smoothed out his hair, "I'm older than you, remember?"

"And when your body matches your age, you can be but for now... you'll remain little brother."

"Whatever." He said.

"Speaking of you being older. I think you owe us an explanation." Luther but in.

The mood changed in a flash when Luther was done speaking and I nodded in agreement, "He's right, you said something about the apocalypse last night. We need more details."

"Alright, where do I begin?" Five asked, turned to sit on the edge of the bed with his feet planted on the floor and his hands clasped in front of him.

"How about the from the moment you disappeared." I suggested.

He nodded and told us his tale. He said how he was playing with time and ended up shooting forward to the year 2019 in which he wasn't able to return from. He said the world was completely destroyed and that there wasn't a building left standing.

"When's it supposed to happen?" Luther asked.

"I can't give you the exact hour but from what I can gather, we have four days left."

"Only four days?" I asked from my cross-legged position on Diego's pillow.

"Why didn't you say something sooner?" Luther asked.

"It wouldn't have mattered."

"We could have banded together and helped stop this thing!" Luther exclaimed.

Five stayed calm, "For the record, you already tried."

"What do you mean?"

Five hesitated at first, as if he didn't want to speak it and it worried me, especially when he finally said, "I found all of you... Your bodies."

I brought my hand to my mouth to hold in a sorrowful gasp at what he was implying, not needing confirmation even though Luther said it out loud, "We died?"

"Horribly." He was utterly alone for who knows how long. Suddenly his attachment to Delores made sense, "You were together, trying to stop whoever it was who ended the world."

"How do you know that?" Luther asked.

Five pulled something out of his pocket and tossed it to Luther. It was a prosthetic eye, "This was clutched in your dead hand when I found you. You must have ripped it out of their head after what he had done."

"Whose head?"

"Like I said, I don't know." Five said.

I leaned forward and placed my hand on Five's shoulder and turned his gaze to mine, "Even if it wouldn't have mattered. You still should have told us. That's a heavy burden to carry by yourself." He brought his hand up and placed it on mine, holding it to his shoulder tightly.

"There's a serial number on the back. Maybe you could-" Luther started.

"It's a dead end." Five said, looking back, "It's just another hunk of glass."

Luther gave the eye back to him just as the door was kicked open and Diego barged in. He marched down the stairs and right over to us, anger coming off him in waves. Luther stood up to hold Diego back, evidently sensing a rampage as well.

"You piece of shit. Do you have any idea what you just did?!" He shouted at Five, trying to fight off Luther but he was too strong.

I hopped off the bed and stood next to Five, who didn't bother getting up. I was ready to defend him if needed though.

"Diego! Calm down!" I shouted at him.

"No, I will not!" He shouted back then turned his anger to Luther as he struggled, "Let me go! Get your ape hands off me!"

"I can do this all day until you calm down." Luther said, actually keeping his cool for once.

Diego breathed deeply, making eye contact with my withering eyes before huffing, "Fine."

Luther placed him back down and stepped back, "Now, tell us what you're talking about."

"Our brother has been pretty busy since he got back. He was in the middle of that shootout at Griddy's and at Gimble Brothers, the department store. And after that those guys in the masks attacked the Academy, looking for him." Diego said, pointing at Five aggressively.

"You need to stop Diego. It's not like he asked for any of that to happen." I tried to reason but apparently that was the wrong thing to say.

"Stop defending him Malia! You always defended him when we were kids but your little crush on him was pathetic then and it's just down right disgusting now! He's not the golden boy you think he is!" It's not his shouting that hurt and shocked me, it was his words. He let air out heavily through his nose and continued, "Everything that's happened is because of him!"

"None of which is any of your concern." Five said.

"Yeah, well it is now. They just killed my friend." Diego said.

I could feel the tears begin to pool and I refused to let any of them, especially Diego, see me cry. I turned my head to look at the wall but saw the cross-stitching artwork that Grace no doubt made for him. I willed myself to not let the tears fall as I looked at it. Diego's friend, Detective Patch, his someone special. More special than me anyway. I shouldn't be this upset. We hated each other up until three days ago.

"Who are they Five?" Luther asked.

"They work for my former employer. A woman called The Handler. She sent them to stop me. Then as soon as Diego's friend got in the way, well, fair game."

"Now they're my fair game and I'm going to see to it, they pay." Diego threatened then turned and walked away.

"That would be a mistake Diego. They've killed people far more dangerous than you." Five cautioned.

"Yeah, we'll see about that!" Diego called back as he left, slamming the door behind him.

"Former employer?" Luther asked, "What is that about and don't give us any of that 'It's none of your business' crap." Luther demanded.

"It's kind of a long story." Five said, "You might want to get comfortable... Malia?"

I let out a shaky breath to try and steady my voice before I spoke, "I'm listening Five. Just go ahead."

Five said a woman found him and trained him to be an assassin that helped keep the timeline intact. He went through rigorous training for a few weeks before he was given his first assignment and because of his ability, he quickly became the best of the best. He was biding his time until he could come back to us and warn us of the end of the world so that we could stop it. So, when he had the chance, he took it. That's how he ended up back at the Academy mere days ago.

During his story, I was able to collect myself and push back the tears enough to face them again and sit down beside Five. Luther made some food for us as he listened to Five's incredible tale. It was almost hard to believe but he wouldn't make something like this up.

"You had a code right?" Luther asked, "You didn't kill just anyone."

"No code. They took out anyone who messed with the time line."

"What about innocent people?"

"It was the only way I could get back."

"But that's murder."

"Jesus Luther, grow up. We're not kids anymore. There is no such thing as good guys or bad guys. There is just people going about their lives. But when the world ends, all those people die, including our family. Time changes everything."

"It doesn't change that much." I said quietly.

"It changes more than you think." Five put his hand on my knee in comfort, "He didn't mean it, he's just hurt."

"How did you know?" I asked.

"Know what?" Luther asked.

"I was in the future, I saw." Five said.

"Saw what?" Luther asked.

"But we were dead, so what exactly did you see?" I asked and shook my head and stood up, "You know what, doesn't matter what you saw because it no longer exists. He's shown me what's important to him and it's not me."

I left them both there and headed back to the Academy on my own. I'm sure they were going to head there too but I needed and wanted to be alone. I think it was time for me to go back to my apartment. The maid service I called yesterday morning should have been in and out, so I could just go home and relax. I could even go to the pub and have some much-needed fun – I definitely deserve it.

With a plan in mind, I went back to the Academy. I went upstairs and headed to my room but stopped when I saw Diego about to go into his own room. He turned when he saw me and opened his mouth to say something but I just walked past him as if he wasn't there and slammed my door closed behind me. He doesn't deserve my attention.

He was going to try and get it though, because he knocked on my door and called my name. When I didn't answer, he opened the door but I pushed it closed again. I heard him sigh on the other side and then a thump, like his forehead had hit the door. I just continued to do what I came in here for.

I changed into blue skinny jeans, a shirt similar to the one from yesterday but dark green, and put my leather jacket back on. I put my converse back on too and then started to throw my clothes back into my suitcase. I jumped when Diego spoke again because I forgot he was there and paused my movements.

"Malia... I just need to... I need to talk to you, not a door." He said quietly.

I still didn't answer and when I finally heard him walk away, I continued what I was doing. I threw my last shirt in my suitcase, zipped it up and wheeled it out of my room and down the hall. When I got to the foyer, I saw Klaus standing in front of the broken chandelier.

"What happened?" He asked.

"We got attacked by lunatics. I'm assuming the ones that took you." I replied.

"Oh." He said and then saw my suitcase, "What? You're leaving?"

"It's time." I said quietly.

"Can you come with me somewhere first?" I hesitated, "The suitcase will still be here when we get back."

I let out a breath and conceded because it looks like he needs someone, "Alright."

"Great."

"But no drugs." I warned.

Diego came into the foyer then and noticed Klaus first, "You look like shit."

"Oh, thank you." He said wistfully, "Where are you going?"

"Nope." Diego said, glancing at him, "I'm not giving you a ride."

"Oh come on, you know we can't drive."

"I don't ca- we?" Diego glanced past him and at me. He then noticed the suitcase that rested beside me.

"Okay great, I'll just get my things." Klaus said and left.

"Going somewhere?" He asked and when I didn't answer he tried again, "Look-"

"Save it." I said and then Klaus came back with a bottle of vodka.

The three of us got into Diego's car. Klaus in the front and me in back and Klaus told Diego where to take us. The car ride was silent aside from Klaus' quiet directions which was unusual. He was normally so chatty and I wondered what happened to him. Even Diego seemed concerned because he asked Klaus what was wrong and even tried to tease him but it didn't work. When Diego pulled into a parking space, I saw we were at a bar. Not just any bar but a Veterans bar.

Klaus and I got out and before Klaus could shut the door, Diego asked him one more time if he was okay. Klaus ignored him and we walked to the entrance. I didn't pester Klaus to tell me what was wrong, he'd tell me when he was ready. He hid the bottle of vodka in his jacket and then we entered. I wanted to tell Klaus we shouldn't be here but some part of him must think he did because even he had boundaries. At least I hope he did.

We went over to the bar and Klaus took off his jacket, placing it on the counter. I looked around as he got us shots and I knocked mine back so fast, hoping it would help with the uncomfortableness. The men here were staring at us like we had three heads.

"Klaus? What are we doing here?" I asked. I couldn't seem to figure him out and I can usually figure everyone out.

"I want to remember and I want to forget." He said heartbrokenly.

"The same thing or two separate events?" I asked.

He didn't answer, just got up and started wandering around the place. I ordered another shot and tossed it back as I watched him silently. I leaned back with my elbows on the bar and saw him stop at a group picture of a few soldiers in the Vietnam war. Klaus has never acted like this before.

I took one more shot and was about to go over to him but was surprised when I saw Diego enter the bar. He spotted me and I pointed over to where our brother was and Diego went over, sitting on the pool table and placing a hand on Klaus' shoulder. It was nice to see Diego care enough for Klaus to put his revenge on old. I swiped a thumb under my eye to catch a tear and turned to the bartender for another shot. I put down a fifty to pay for the shots and to leave a tip.

I was going to let the two men have a moment but an older man got up from his seat and went over to them. I didn't think anything good was going to come of this, so I made my way over as well. I got there just in time for the older man to start speaking.

"Hey guys, this bar is for Vet's only."

"I am a Vet." Klaus said softly and I looked at his back in confusion.

"Really?" The guy chuckled, "Where'd you serve?"

"None of your business." Klaus snapped and I brought my hand up to my temples, to massage them. His attitude was going to get us in trouble.

"You got balls coming in here and pretending you're one of us."

Klaus turned around slowly to face the man and spoke angrily, "I have every right to be here, just like you. Asshole!"

The man was going to go after Klaus but Diego stepped in the way to try and diffuse the tention, "Hold on. Slow down. My brother has just had a few too many. Let's just call it a day and we all can go our own way."

"Sure thing."

"Thank you." Diego said.

"Come on Klaus, let's go." I said and took his hand to lead him out.

"As long as you apologize." The man tacked on and I looked at him in mild shock but turned back to Klaus when I heard him giggle.

"Fine. I'm sorry. He's sorry. She's sorry. We're all sorry. So, are we good?" I don't think I've ever heard Diego speak so cautiously before.

"I wanna hear HIM say it." The man said.

I turned to him, "Look, this isn't normal for-"

"No, no, he's right." Klaus said, turning back to face everyone and walked toward the man as he spoke, "I'd like to apologize that you are depriving some village their IDIOT!"

The man took a swing and Klaus ducked before headbutting the man in the nose. Then an all-out brawl happened as many of the other Vet's came to fight as well. I grabbed a man's arm when he tried to punch Diego in the back and twisted it behind his own back before knocking his knees, sending him to the floor. I felt the air around me change and ducked when I saw a fist come at me, then sent my own fist at my assailant.

The three of us fought our way past everyone and then ran out the door and to Diego's car. I could have used my power but it wasn't the situation for it. Part of my training growing up was knowing when and when not to use it. That was definitely a 'not' situation. When we were in Diego's car, I put my hands-on Klaus' shoulder from the back seat.

"What was that all about?" I asked, still buzzing from the exhilaration.

Klaus didn't answer and Diego kept driving for a few more minutes. He pulled to a stop across from Griddy's and I came to the conclusion that we were on a stakeout. After everything that happened, I almost forgot that he was out to get Detective Patch's killers.

"You have a big mouth you know that." Diego said.

Klaus giggled as he tried open a little baggy of pills, "What a shocking revelation."

Diego grabbed them from him, "Would you stop! Why are you putting this shit in your body?! Check this out okay?" He lifted up his shirt and patted his abs, "My body is a temple. All that shit you do is just weakness."

"You've never tried anything before?" I asked, forgetting that I wasn't talking to him.

"You have?" He asked, shocked.

"I've tried most of it at least once. I went to college." I shrugged, as if that was reason enough; It kind of was.

"And weakness feels so good." Klaus drawled out, pulling another little baggy from his pants.

Diego hit him in the head making him drop it, "What is going on with you?!"

"Don't hit me asshole!"

"Don't tell me everything is alright because I saw you in there! You were crying like a baby!"

"Because I lost someone!" Klaus finally admitted and looked down at his lap in defeat, "I lost someone. The only person I ever truly loved more than myself." He said, finally getting a pill out successfully before swallowing it.

"Well, you're luckier than most. When you lose someone, at least you can see them whenever you want."

When Diego finished speaking, I fell back into my seat and looked out the passenger window sadly. I know he's hurting but it hurts me to know why he's hurting. I feel like I did in my first year of college when the boy I lost my virginity to, told all his friends. I hated feeling that vulnerable and vowed to never feel like that again but here I am and it's over Diego of all people.

I saw Diego turn to look at me out of the corner of my eye and as much as I didn't want too, I tilted my head slightly to see him. The look in his eye was odd. It was like a mixture of guilt, sadness, understanding, and apology and I didn't know what to make of it. His gaze shifted to behind me soon after though and his expression became determined.

"There's our guy." He said and I looked out the back window.

"Hey, I know that guy." Klaus said, eyeing him through the side mirror.

"How could you possibly know that guy." Diego asked disbelievingly.

"Because he and really angry lady tortured me. I barely got out with my life."

"They tortured you?" I frowned.

Out of all of us, Klaus deserved that the least. He may be a thief and addicted to every drug under the sun but he never set out to hurt anyone. He was a gentle soul who just wanted to spread love. I think he's the only one of us who's never killed anyone, even on missions.

"We need to get these guys." Diego said and put the car in drive to follow him.

We followed him all the way to a motel on the other side of the city. Diego parked the car, said he'd be right back, and got out. Klaus and I watched him as he snuck between the cars and got down. We couldn't see what he was doing but twenty seconds later, he stood back up and came over with a little black device in his hands that was beeping.

When he saw Hazel in a motel window, he said "Bingo." and grabbed a few knives.

"You do know killing these people is not going to make you feel any better." Klaus said, taking a swig from his bottle of vodka.

"Yeah but when it's done. I'm going to sleep like a baby." He said proudly, sheathing his last knife in his holster.

"Not caring about who you hurt in the process I'm sure." Klaus muttered.

I couldn't help but smack him in the back of the head because I'm sure he meant me. He may be a drunk and an addict but he was hella observant when he wanted to be. Especially when he can have as many sets of eyes as he wanted, seeing things for him.

He whined when I hit him and rubbed the back of his head. I saw Diego shift his eyes to me but this time I didn't give into the impulse to meet them. I was too stubborn for that. I just looked at the fence that was out the window to my right. When he turned back around to look at the motel room again, I looked forward. Hazel came out of the door shortly after with an ice bucket and walked down the hall.

"Stay in the car." Diego said.

"What are you talking about? These guys tortured me."

"I have a plan." Diego said and got out.

Two minutes later and Klaus was getting antsy, "Screw his plan. Are you coming?"

"Uh no, I think I'll stay here."

"Suit yourself." He said and then got out to follow after Diego.

I would have tried to stop him but there was really no point. Klaus would always do what he wanted. He was way too free-spirited to do anything someone told him to do. I leaned back in my seat and started to count to ten in every language that I knew, which was three – English, French, and Spanish. Out of all the Hargreeves, I probably knew the least because I joined so late in the game.

I got to five in French when I felt that feeling my chest start to build. Then I heard squealing tires. I looked out the window and saw Cha-Cha and Hazel ripping through the parking lot. They were both leaning out the window, aiming their guns up at the second floor and began shooting. If they knew we were here, they knew which car was ours. I laid down across the seat so they wouldn't see me. I covered my face as a window shattered, then I felt the car sink a little lower to the ground. The shooting stopped and the squealing tires of their car faded as they got farther away.

"Malia!" I heard Diego shout.

"I'm okay!" I called out as I sat up and saw them running to the car.

Klaus leaned into the broken window and sighed with relief, "Thank god you're alright. We thought you might have gotten shot."

"The window was a miss fire while they aimed for the tires. I don't think they even knew I was here." I said as I got out of the car, eyeing the damage to both the left tires, "What now?"

"Was this all part of your master plan?" Klaus asked, leaning against an ice cream truck.

"Shut up." Diego replied in exasperation.

"Both of you shut up." I said, crossing my arms I looked around.

I looked to Diego who had his back to us and then to my other side to Klaus in his eccentric outfit. In another life, he could probably be driving that ice cream truck. I giggled at the thought before the idea struck. I never had a legit lightbulb moment until now and I went over to the driver's side and opened the door.

I pulled the wires from underneath the steering wheel and pulled the two I needed apart. I connected the two copper wires together until the engine rolled over and made a noise of excitement before getting up and sitting in the driver's seat.

I leaned out the door and looked at Diego and Klaus who were both looking at me as if I had three heads. I get that look a lot. "Are you coming or what?"

"I'm driving!" Klaus shouted, pushing Diego in the direction of the passenger side before running over and pushing me into the middle of the two seats so he could sit.

"Hey! Where am I supposed to sit?!" I exclaimed as Diego got in.

He placed the tracker down on the dash and told Klaus to follow it. Klaus stepped on the gas, nearly making me fly backward into the freezer. I would have too if I hadn't placed a hand on the shoulder of each seat to catch me.

"I really don't like your driving and I feel especially unsafe without a seatbelt." I said, gripping each seat with dear life.

"I've always wanted to drive an ice cream truck." Klaus said and then waved toward the freezer, "Can you be a dear and see if they have any fudgsicles?"

I was about to hit him but Diego grabbed my hand and pulled me onto his lap, "Don't distract him. He's trying to concentrate." He said into my ear.

I felt him run his nose along my neck and squirmed, "What are you doing?"

"Being your seatbelt."

I was going to protest because of everything that's happened today but I did feel much safer with his arms around me. It wasn't long until we followed the signal down an old country road while picking up speed. I could see cars parked on the road in the distance and the tracker even told us we were closing in fast but Klaus showed no signs of slowing down.

Diego's arms tightened around my waist while I had one hand braced on the ceiling and the dashboard, "Klaus, slow down!" I shouted.

"I don't think the brakes work. We just keep going faster." He said.

"That's the gas pedal!" Diego and I shouted at the same time.

"Oh, well why didn't you say so? Oh hey! It's Luther and Five!"

We all looked out the window as we passed them. Klaus waved at them and Luther lifted his arm to wave back but we had already flown past. I looked straight ahead and saw Cha-Cha and Hazel lift their guns and begin shooting.

"Go faster!" Diego shouted, wanting to run them over.

I saw what was behind them though, "HOLY SHIT! WE'RE GOING TO DIE!"

Cha-Cha and Hazel dove out of the way and I all of a sudden felt overly constricted as we smashed into the ass end of the assassin's car. I lurched forward, being stopped by the strap across my chest that was holding me in place on Diego's lap and coughed at the impact. I'm glad I wasn't launched through the windshield but I didn't have a seatbelt on five seconds ago. What the fuck was going on?

"Malia, you're crushing some important parts." I heard Diego groan from under me.

I unlatched the seatbelt and stumbled out of the driver's side door after Klaus. Klaus helped Diego out and that's when I noticed his dead arm.

"What happened to your arm?!" I shouted as we ran toward Luther and the car.

"I got shot!"

"What?!"

Luther met us half way and helped Klaus get Diego to the car. I ran ahead and opened the back door before rushing around to the front passenger seat and getting in. Luther shoved Klaus and Diego into the back before hopping in and starting the car. It was our turn to take off with squealing tires now. I turned around to see Klaus giving the finger to the assassins and then directed my gaze to Diego who was clutching his arm.

"When the hell did you get shot?!" I exclaimed.

"At the motel! You were there!"

I turned back to face the front, "Oh."

"Oh? Just oh?" He said incredulously.

I shrugged, taking a quick glance back at him, "I must have been ignoring you more than I thought."

"Y-y-you..." He didn't finish, either because he couldn't or because he didn't see the point.

In any case, the only noise on the drive home was Klaus doing an active replay of everything that happened today. No one else said anything but that was okay. Klaus seemed to be back to normal for the time being and I was happy about that.

When we got back to the house, we entered through the kitchen and saw Allison there eating. She cooked supper and there was lots left so we all stopped to eat. Allison told us about her day and we told her about ours. It was almost as if we were a normal family – aside from the bar fights and being shot at by semi-automatic assault rifles. Luther and I kept the apocalypse news to ourselves though. We both silently agreed to wait and see if Five came back so he could explain. He knew more than we did after all.

Once we were done eating, the five of us made our way upstairs and into the foyer. I spotted my suitcase in the middle of the floor and stopped right beside it. Through all the excitement, I forgot that I was going to go back to mine today. I ran my finger along the handle and glanced up at everyone who was watching me, my eyes lingering on Diego a bit longer than the rest.

Klaus came over and grabbed the handle to my suitcase, "How about I help you bring this upstairs."

I sighed and couldn't help but smiled at him, wondering if this was part of his plan the whole time, "Yeah, okay."

He wheeled it over to the stairs and then tried to lift it but whined that it was too heavy. I laughed when I saw Luther roll his eyes and say he would carry it. Allison linked her arm with mine and we walked up the stairs together behind Klaus and Luther. At the top, before we rounded the corner, I looked behind me at Diego who was still standing in the foyer. He was clutching his injured arm and looking at the floor.

"Go on without me Allison. I need to do something first." I said to her.

She looked down at Diego and then gave me a soft smile, "Goodnight."

"Night."

I slowly walked down the stairs and Diego lifted his gaze when he heard me. I stopped in front of him and instead of saying anything, I looked at his arm. It looked like it hurt so I took the hand of his uninjured arm and directed him to the medical room that we have here in the house. I made him sit on one of the roller stools and then gathered the items I needed to help him.

When I set them on the table beside us, I finally turned and made eye contact, "You're going to need to take off your shirt. And don't make any smart-ass comments, now is not the time."

He started to take off his shirt but when he was having trouble with the one arm, I helped and then tossed the material to the side. Earlier he told Klaus his body was a temple and looking at his shirtless frame now, I didn't disagree. However, I was not here to ogle his abs.

I sat on another stool and rolled closer to him, so I could clean the bullet wound on his bicep. I used alcohol swabs too clean around it and saline to clean the inside. The bullet went clean through the side of his bicep, which was good, especially since it didn't hit any main arteries. I would have to stitch it up though.

I grabbed the needle and thread, "Will you need something to bite down on?"

"I'm fine. Just do it."

I worked fast and efficiently. It would probably heal within a day or two because it was so clean, unlike mine. I knew he was studying me as I worked and I cleared my throat a few times to keep me distracted. When I was done, I rolled away from him and stood up. I walked over to the counter and grabbed a sling before turning to toss it to him but he was right there.

I handed it to him instead, "While the wound heals, you'll need a sling so you don't jostle it. It will also keep you from using your arm unnecessarily."

"Thanks." He took the sling but stepped forward even more and placed it back on the counter, "Can I see yours?"

I couldn't think straight with him this close to me while he was shirtless, "See what?"

"Your arm."

I tried to wave him off, "Oh, it's fine."

"Let me see it." He softly demanded, putting his hands on my shoulders, underneath my jacket.

I swallowed thickly and nodded my consent when I looked up into his eyes. He pushed my jacket off my shoulders and it slid down my arms before falling to the floor. I tried to push up my sleeves but it didn't go very far because it was too tight around my arms and I glared at the offensive fabric. He seemed to notice this because he lightly trailed his fingers over my arm before resting them on my waist.

"Looks like you'll have to take your shirt off so I can get a better look." He said.

"What? N-" I gasped at the scorching sensations his hands ignited when they touched my bare waist under my shirt, "Diego... what are you doing?" I asked quietly.

He bent his head down, running his nose from my temple to the top of my cheek until his lips were at my ear, "being with you."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because it's where I want to be." I bit my lip and tilted my head to make eye contact. I saw the sincerity in his expression, "Is that alright?" He asked

I barely hesitated before giving him a nod. No sooner had I given the okay, did his hands run up my sides and slide along my arms, taking my shirt in the process. He tossed it to the side and place his hands back on my waist, pulling my body to his until the skins of our torsos met one another's. I gasped again at the feeling but it was swallowed with a heated kiss.

I moaned when our tongues clashed but it was short lived because he was pulling away. I was about to protest but he started attacking my neck instead. I loved the feeling of his scruff on my skin, it felt amazing. I sighed in contentment and mewled in excitement as he trailed kisses down my chest, over my breasts, and across my stomach until he was kneeling before me.

I looked down at him, breathing heavily, as he undid the button on my jeans and pulled down the zipper. He stood back up and smoothed his hands down my back, about to slide them into the back of my jeans when I remembered where we were.

"Wait. Stop." I said breathlessly.

He pulled away instantly, hands in the air, "Sorry. Too fast?"

I giggled and shook my head, "No, I just don't want to do it in the medical room."

He looked me up and down, "What are the chances we'll get caught if we run upstairs like this?"

I shook my head again as I picked up his shirt and put it on. It was very baggy on me but I like the twinkle it sparked in his eyes. I smirked as I backed toward the door before turning and running. I heard him chasing me and as soon as I entered his room, he was right behind me, closing and locking the door.

I whipped his shirt off over my head and started to shimmy out of my jeans as he took off his own. When we were both left in our underwear, he backed me toward the bed. He pushed me until I fell onto it and then crawled on top of me. I could see him wince as he put pressure on his injured arm but didn't bring attention to it. He could handle it and I didn't want to ruin the mood.

When his face leveled with mine, he gave me the softest, kindest smile I've ever seen from him. He brought his hand up and brushed stray strands of hair from my face before leaning down and capturing my lips. We had a lot to talk about come morning but for now, I was content with what was happening in this moment.
