For Kirishima, this night was pure torture. Keeping his eyes on the laptop screen and trying to distract himself with snacks did very little to help his nerves.
Every now and then, Kaminari would ask for more of the candy, which was out of his reach. Kirishima did his best to avoid looking at the blond when he would hand the sweet treats over.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the first movie ended. It was time to order pizza for dinner.
Kirishima opened a food delivery app on his phone, and brought the device closer to Kaminari so that he could see the options as well.
"Ooh, can we get a stuffed crust pizza?" He asked, quickly pointing to a picture. His index finger brushed against Kirishima's thumb.
"S-Sure! Sounds good!" He selected the image, and both boys discussed the ingredients they wanted. The order was soon placed. Kirishima would get a call when the delivery driver was approaching the school, and he'd go down to meet them.
"Ready to start the next movie?" Kaminari asked.
Kirishima nodded and set it up. They watched for a little more than half an hour, when the delivery driver called. The movie was paused, and Kirishima got off the bed. "Be right back."
Kaminari nodded with a smile.
Once Kirishima was out of his room and down the hall, he took a deep breath. "You gotta calm down man," he told himself. "You're just having a movie night with your best bro. You've done it before. Although, that was before you realized how cute he is..." He shook his head. "No! Stop it!"
He made his way to the front of the school at a fast pace, so as not to keep the delivery person waiting. But once he paid for the pizza, he walked back to his room slower than usual, his anxiety getting worse the closer he got to it.
When he approached the door, he took a moment to compose himself the best he could. He put on a smile and went in, setting the pizza down.
"Mm, smells good," Kaminari stated. "The snacks tied me over, but I'm ready for some real food."
"Same here. Let's eat!"
They each took a slice and resumed the movie. For awhile, Kirishima had managed to relax a bit. The food was tasty, and action scenes were just beginning. As both boys had experience fighting, they were a bit critical of some of the moves being performed.
"Man, those punches look so fake," Kaminari remarked.
"Now I know why this movie was direct-to-video."
"But it's so cheesy that it's entertaining."
Kirishima nodded, a genuine smile on his face this time. "I agree. I'm still enjoying it."
Whatever strange feelings had been going on earlier seemed to have passed. It was just two friends hanging out, as they'd done regularly ever since they'd met.
That's what Kirishima thought, until a couple of hours later. The third movie ended up having a major plot twist. The couple that they were sure would stay together instead broke up, and the two best friends were paired up.
Crimson eyes widened when they kissed.
"Whoa, I did NOT see that coming!" Kaminari shouted. "Can you believe it man?" He got no answer, and turned to his friend, who was frozen. "Kiri? Hellooo?" He waved his hand in front of the stunned boy's face.
"Oh, y-yeah! Sorry! I'm just in so much shock that I-" He scratched the back of his head, looking away and unable to finish his sentence.
"I'm actually really glad they ended up together though."
Kirishima looked back up in surprise. "Huh?"
"Don't you think it's sweet? They already knew each other so well."
"Heh, yeah..."
Kaminari suddenly bolted up, putting his face right in front of Kirishima's.
"I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner! Now it's obvious to me that they were both unknowingly falling in love with each other through all those years!" He balled his hands into fists, surging with excitement.
Kirishima's cheeks were instantly on fire. He stared at the golden orbs that were shining just inches away, speechless.
'Damn it Kami! Why'd you have to get so close?'
A few more awkward seconds went by before Kaminari moved back. "Hm, it's just after Midnight. I wonder how long we can stay up. Anyway, you pick the next movie. I gotta use the bathroom real quick."
Kirishima merely nodded as he left the room, glad to have control over the next film. This time he'd be picking something he'd seen before, that he knew didn't have any romance, particularly between best friends. His poor heart couldn't take any more of what just happened tonight.
"Man, I hope he gets tired soon. This is getting too painful for me..."
A/N: I drew a picture to go along with this, which is posted on Twitter and DeviantArt. Since I can't share links here, message me on one of those sites if you have an account, and I'll show you the drawing. On DA I'm Zinka17, and on Twitter I'm Zinka_17.
This chapter took so long because I wanted to get the drawing done first, and then I procrastinated a bit afterwards. But I promise it won't take over a month for the next one. ^^
