Episode 1 Part 1

After the disaster at the farm with the herd of Walkers overwhelming it, the group of survivors had ended up scattered. In one car, having only narrowly escaped the herd, also witnessing one of their companions, Boris being caught and devoured by Walkers, three members of the group, Roman, Mara and Misha were driving away as fast as they can.

Roman was a tall man, around twenty-seven with long brown hair and intense green eyes, he had an athletic build and scars on his forehead, he was fair skinned and had a look of danger around him. He was wearing cargo pants; a grey tank-top; white flannel shirt and black boots.

Meanwhile Mara was a young woman of twenty-four, of average height and slender build, she was pale with long brunette hair, green eyes and a soft shy smile, wearing a dark grey tank-top, jeans and brown boots.

In the back seat was Misha, a boy of around ten, with choppy brown hair, sweet, sad brown doe eyes, fair skin and scars on his face, he was also notably skinny, almost worryingly so. He wore jeans, a grey T-shirt, black sneakers and his favourite blue and white scarf and blue hunting hat. All three were still shaken by what they had witnessed during their escape.

It had been to save them and allow them to escape that Boris had died.

Mara shuddered. "Oh god, the others...Boris..."

Roman grimaced, trying to focus on the road. "I...I know..."

Despite the fact they knew the others had escaped, they had been separated, with no idea where the others had gone. At that point a sob issued from the back seat where Misha sat, trembling. Mara turned around to face him, rubbing his leg comfortingly.

"I know, I know, shhhhh it's ok...don't be scared." She said softly.

Misha whimpered. "Boris is...everyone else...?"

"I—I don't know...All I know is that we're safe." She admitted. "Once we get to a place we can stop, maybe we'll meet up with the others."

Misha trembled, Roman bit his lip, glancing at Misha in the rear-view mirror. Mara looked at Roman, giving him a reassuring nod. They both knew how much Misha looked up to him and idealized his bravery. Some encouraging words from him would go a long way.

Roman cleared his throat. "Hey kiddo."

"Y-yeah?"

Roman explained. "I know it's hard, but we need to stay strong. We need to do that for the others."

His voice was firm, but still encouraging.

Mara turned to face Misha again, smiling at Roman's words.

"You were so brave back there, I'm proud of you." She told him.

Misha managed a shaky smile.

Mara nodded. "Even Roman thinks so."

She then looked at Roman, nodding in Misha's direction.

Roman smiled, also nodding. "She's right kiddo, you did well, given the circumstances, you made it, standing and fighting is important, but equally important is knowing when it's best to run."

Misha finally smiled at that, calming down and feeling hopeful again. Mara meanwhile smiled at Roman, glad for his aid. A warmth grew inside her as she looked at him and she almost reached to touch his leg, but stopped herself.

'What, what on earth?' She wondered, startled by her actions.

After a brief moment, Roman suddenly gasped and began to turn the car.

"Roman?"

"Over there look." He said, nodding. "That's a landmark that's impossible to miss."

It was a tall monument one that was visible for miles.

Roman explained. "If they are around, the others will see it too...it's our best bet. We go there we'll have a chance to meet up with the others."

Mara smiled too and nodded to Misha, this was their best hope.

Another car driving away from the farm, seeking the others and trying to find somewhere relatively safe, had another three people in it. Driving the car was a twenty year old young man of just above medium height with short dark red hair and hazel eyes; he had fair skin and a toned build; he also wore glasses. He was clad in denim jeans; a red T-shirt; an unbuttoned denim shirt and black sneakers. His name was Niko and he was, at least in the view of the others, the leader of the group.

In the car with him, sitting in the front passenger seat, was a teenage girl, sixteen at the most, of medium height and quite skinny, she had long dirty blonde hair pulled into a ponytail and icy blue eyes as well as being rather pale and there were notable scars on her face. She wore grey sweatpants, a white tank-top, a dark blue unbuttoned jacket and white sneakers. Her name was Arica and she had recently become Niko's girlfriend.

In the back seat was the girl who, since the death of her whole family, had attached herself to Arica and now, by extension, Niko, her name was Lydia. She was a small little girl, about ten years old with fair skin, blonde hair in a ponytail and brown doe eyes, as well as being somewhat skinny. She wore a blue skirt; white T-shirt with a princess design on it; white ankle socks and blue flats.

Lydia bit her lip, shifting anxiously in her seat.

"We...we can't find the others…?"

Arica turned to face her. "I know we've been separated from them, but we'll figure this out Lydia, we know almost all of them made it out."

"Exactly and they'll find a way." Niko said. "We just need to find something, somewhere that we can regroup, hopefully the others will find it too."

Arica turned to look at him. "You...You think that'll work?"

Niko shrugged. "We can only hope so."

Arica looked back at Lydia, trying to send the girl reassurance. It was difficult for her, due to her own difficult upbringing and being so unsure of herself, how to act around Lydia. The way Lydia seemed to have bonded with her, with Arica attempting to teach the girl how to move quietly as she did, as an attempt to return the bond.

"Wait a minute, look there." Niko said quickly.

Jolted from her thoughts, Arica followed his gaze, Lydia doing the same as they spotted the large monument.

"If we can see it, the others can too...we'll head there, should be a chance to meet them." Niko said.

As they changed their direction there was movement in the nearby trees and Niko slammed on the brakes as suddenly two people emerged and froze as the car nearly hit them.
