Episode 1 Part 2
There was a moment of tension after Niko stopped the car, that was until they got a good look at the two people who had stumbled out of the bushes and into their path.
"Human, they're both human." Niko breathed.
Arica narrowed her eyes. "That by itself doesn't make them safe."
"True, but look at them." Niko agreed. "It's not likely they're a threat and if they are...well, not a big one."
Arica bit her lip, taking a closer look at the pair, realizing now what Niko meant. They got out the car to check up on the pair, an old man and a little boy. The pale little boy of around nine was of average height for his age with brown eyes, short cut copper coloured hair and freckles. He wore torn denim jeans; a dark blue torn T-shirt and black scuffed sneakers.
They then noted the man, he was a slightly overweight older man with short white hair, brown eyes and fair skin, he was above medium height, wearing dark ripped jeans; a white faded shirt and black worn shoes.
"Oh my...I'm terribly sorry." The old man gasped. "I hope we didn't scare anyone."
Niko shook his head. "We're all okay...I'm more worried about the fact I nearly hit you guys."
The old man shook his head. "Well, we're okay, that's what matters. I'm Henrik by the way and this brave lad is my grandson, Ivano."
Arica and Niko introduced themselves and Arica added. "The girl in the car is Lydia..."
That caught Ivano's attention, a look of relief seemed to fill him.
Seeing this, Henrik gave a short laugh and gently clapped the boy's shoulder.
"Poor Ivano thought there were no other kids left." He explained. "It'll be good for him to finally see another."
Niko pondered for a moment. "There's other kids too, we're part of a group, but we got separated. We're on our way to that monument up there, it's high enough to be seen for miles. I'm sure all the surviving members of our group have seen it and will be going for it. You're welcome to join us if you want."
"R-really?" Ivano gasped, eyes wide.
Arica looked worriedly at Niko but then smiled. "Yeah, c'mon, hop in and we'll get going."
Henrik smiled and thanked them and they all got back into the car with Arica explaining things to Lydia and soon, with Ivano talking excitedly to Lydia, they drove on, heading for where they hoped they would find the others.
Another trio that fled the farm was driving, seeking the others and hoping to find some means of regrouping. Driving the car was a twenty year old woman named Zlata. She
had short black hair and dark brown eyes as well as a few moles dotting her face, she was also slender and fair skinned. She wore white knee length shorts; a black tank-top underneath a pink unbuttoned blouse and white flats.
With her was one of the people they met on the farm, a man of thirty with buzzed blonde hair; blue eyes, a chiselled jaw and an athletic build, he was also reasonably tall and fair skinned and clad in jeans; a dark red T-shirt and white sneakers.
The final member of their group was Sergei. The eleven year old boy was tall for his age with dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and a lanky build as well as fair skin. He was dressed in blue sweatpants; a dark blue tank-top under a red and black unbuttoned flannel shirt and white sneakers.
"I still can't believe this, of all the things to happen, and we..." Zlata whispered.
Pavle nodded. "I know, is there any sign of the others, anything at all."
Zlata shook her head. "Nothing but dirt road and trees...no other tire tracks, people by the side of the road, nobody..."
"Do you think" Sergei began hesitantly. "Do you think they're all dead?"
Pavle reacted at once. "No, no Sergei, they have to have made it, we know almost everyone made it off the farm...as for where they are now..."
They went quiet after that, still mulling over their fears and worries.
A short while later Zlata noticed something in her rear view mirror.
"Hey, there's another car, I think..." She trailed off and looked again. "Yes it's one of the others, I'm sure of it."
Pavle and Sergei started at that, both turning to look and sure enough they noted the car was indeed one they had seen on the farm. Zlata quickly signalled with the lights to let the car know she'd seen them before stopping the car, the other car also stopped and soon both cars emptied as the occupants got out and Pavle, Sergei and Zlata soon saw who had found them.
The first was a man of twenty-seven with shaved brown hair and dark blue eyes, he was skinny and had fair skin as well as a rugged jaw covered with stubble, he was also just above medium height and was wearing black pants; a grey T-shirt and white sneakers.
The second was a man of thirty-nine, he had long brown hair and a full dark brown beard, both with grey in them, as well as brown eyes behind small, square glasses, he also had fair skin and a regular build, he was slightly taller than the other man and wearing khaki pants; a white shirt and black sneakers.
The third was someone else they met on the farm. She was a middle aged plump woman with short brown hair, brown eyes, of medium height and wearing glasses, she was pale and had a gentle air around her. She wore black pants; a blue blouse under a dark grey light jacket and black shoes.
It was, respectively, Marko, Marin and Cveta.
The two groups quickly moved closer, glad to be reunited.
"Thank God, we were so worried." Cveta said, her voice trembling.
Pavle nodded. "I know, us too...still, we knew at least that you guys had to be alive."
"The others too." Zlata added. "I'm sure of it."
They all smiled, glad to have at least found each other.
"Okay so, how are we going to find the others?" Marin asked. "It'll be dangerous, not to mention, we could easily get lost out here."
It was then Sergei spotted something. "Hey what's that?"
They followed where he was pointing and saw it, a large, familiar, monument to them all.
Marko smiled. "That's where we need to go, we can use it to regroup and if they're out there, the others will have seen it...so we can hopefully find them there too."
The others agreed it was their best bet and so, acting quickly, they got in their respective cars and began to drive away.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
