Job 5: Temple Rescue Squad
Sly exits the safe house, heads for a tall tree, eluding or eliminating any guards that get in his way, and then pulls out his binocucom. Bentley's face is on the left, Sly's is on the right.
"We need to pull Penelope out of there before we do any more damage to the temple and rile up the two foes."
"What about the Prince?"
"He'll have to wait I"m afraid, for now she could be useful…."
"Don't forget it looks like Rajan spiced her up, how do we get her out of that trance after I pull her out of there?"
"That I know not…." In the distance on the river, a strange boat arrives with three familiar faces: A large panda with a sash around his waist and a launcher, a blue lizard in disco clothes, and a koala with a staff and wearing a loincloth and face paint. "Say it's the rest of our old gang! Dimitri, Panda King, and the Guru!" cried Bentley happily. "They could be of some use to us! Go and meet them Sly!" With that, Sly heads over to the boat with the other former gang members.
"Well, how's my main man Sly? You still got juice?" said Dimitri jovially.
"So far so good." He turned to the Panda King. "Greetings my old enemy turned ally." He bowed his head in respect, and the Panda King returns the favor placing his hands together and bowing in return.
"Tis an honor Cooper."
"And don't forget the great Guru of the Stone." The Guru responded in his usual Aborigine talk (though untranslated not that it matters since everyone can understand what he's saying).
"Yes there's a great spiritual disturbance here, Penelope has been captured and spiced, I need to get her out of there and fast before they do something worse to her!" The Guru responds first to Sly and then to the Panda King.
"I have one firework you can use Sly to reach the top, though I suggest you take along the Guru, he can help her get out of her Spice induced fit."
"My snazzy boat will catch you two cats to the bag bro….you ready to boogie out the spice on the mouse bro?" asked Dimitri.
With that the Guru jumps on Sly's back while Sly hooks his cane onto the firework the Panda King prepared for the occasion and he lights the fuse, causing the firework to travel upwards, just like in the first Sly game, and at just the right time, before it blows up, Sly leaps off with the Guru in tow and throws out his paraglider with the Guru in tow. They land at the top entrance and jump down.
The inside of the spice facility is a lot different from the one Sly and his original gang traveled through in the second game as the technology is more robust than the old fashioned low tech version that involved mills and water wheels. It would seem that with El Jefe and Penelope's techno knowledge things have grown more resilient that regular TNT couldn't blast through this. The gang wouldn't have time to call the local crime ring for another Cherry Bomb 500 as time was of the essence here to stop both the foes and rescue the Prince before midnight.
Sly found Penelope at her desk working with Spice-induced rage building up some strange tech devices. He knew he'd have to be quiet to sneak up behind her and let the Guru try to get her out of her trance. Proceeding with silent caution, Sly crept up to Penelope, but just a few paces before he could fully reach her, Penelope stopped working and grabbed a pipe and immediately turned around with a look of hot wrath in her eyes.
"I knew you'd come, Cooper you pest, time to pay the fiddler!" And she swung her pipe at Sly which he effortlessly blocked which turned into a bit of a struggle.
"Stop Penelope! I don't want to fight you!" Sly begged. The Guru sensed something and uttered something in Aborigine and while the two struggled, the mystic koala jumped from Sly to Penelope and immediately latched onto her head, causing Penelope to drop her pipe in an effort to dislodge the koala, who was working his Dreamtime magic on her to cure her of her Spice Rage.
"Don't try to hurt her Guru! Just get her to run around until all the spice is out of her head!" Sly called out, the Guru does just that making Penelope avoid the walls, even if it means running around. It takes a while but eventually the techno mouse comes to her senses.
"…..ohhhh,….my head….wh-where am I?" she says weakly as she comes to. "Sly? Guru? Is that you?"
"Welcome back Penelope, though I think we need to leave before Rajan and El Jefe return." says Sly.
"My hero! Once again!" With that Penelope and the Guru jump on Sly as he climbs out of the hole and escapes with the two in tow and then paraglides into the boat Dimitri tows up.
"Alright! Penelope, the queen of RC is back!" shouts Bentley happily over the intercom.
Job Complete
Sly does his victory dance while the Guru waves his staff and fingers.
