Episode 3 Part 2
Christo stood anxiously, waiting, hoping. He knew that they'd only have one chance at this and if they failed then not only was he as good as dead, so too were all these new people who had shown up and given him hope. He feared for Iskra's safety.
'But then again, they've got kids with them and have kept them safe all this time.' He reflected. 'They know what they're doing, they know how to keep the kids safe when they are fighting...that said, they've mostly been dealing with Walkers.'
He knew the only time they had to deal with a human who had been causing them trouble, it had been one of their own group, as they had told him as they were setting up. The ex-boyfriend of Mara, a man named Eli.
He shook his head. 'Thank God that man died before they found us...I wouldn't want a man like that around my daughter.'
He had always been a protective father, but ever since this whole nightmare had started, especially what with being unable to find his wife, that protectiveness had increased greatly. Still he knew one thing, no matter what, Iskra's safety would be his utmost priority. It was then he heard it, the sound of footsteps approaching and he knew it was time. Readying himself and making sure his weapon was hidden from view, Christo stood, waiting for the bandits approach.
Christo spotted them right away, all armed and watching him with sharp, angry, eyes. All ten of them were here, if there was more he'd never seen them. They all entered the clearing, most staying back while two of them stepped up to him.
"So, here we are again." The leader taunted. "Time to face our deal...or else."
His taunt turned into a vicious sneer at the end. Making it quite clear what he meant, the other one nodded.
"Don't forget, you're only getting one chance at this." He growled. "Screw up and we take your daughter and kill you, no chance to get her back."
Christo didn't rise to the bait, he simply glared and shook his head.
"You honestly think that-"
"We know!" The leader snapped. "Now, hand over your food."
"No." Christo replied simply.
The bandits all froze, shocked, not used to such resistance. Then they all glared, drawing their weapons.
"What was that, you dare!?" The leader snapped.
His right hand man reacted at once. "You know what's going to happen now. Hand it over, or we'll just take your pretty little daughter right now."
It was clear they were getting agitated, this was the moment of truth, Christo just hoped his new found allies would truly be ready and everything would go as planned.
Straightening up he pulled out his gun and, as predicted, the bandits froze.
"What is this!?"
Christo replied firmly. "You're not going to touch my daughter, you're not taking any of our stuff. It's over now."
The leader snarled. "Are you stupid, there's ten of us and only one of you. We warned you, if you try to resist us, we will simply kill you!"
"Yeah, then there's no one to protect your little girl and she's all ours, as well as all your supplies." The second in command added.
Christo shook his head. "I don't think so...this is where it ends. Did you honestly think I would just stand here against you, on my own. I was ready for you, we were ready for you."
"What?"
Christo smirked and drew his gun. "That's right, I'm not alone."
With that the bandits raised their guns, all aiming at Christo and then suddenly, a gunshot rang out.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
