Percy
"Minerva!" I yelled getting her attention as I walked over to her with Ginny walking next to me.
"Percy, please tell me you have a plan." said Minerva with a hint of worry breaking her calm facade for the students.
"Good idea forming the protective barrier and I see you've activated the stone soldiers. They'll be extremely helpful in fighting the monsters that will no doubt be here. I need you to send word to the students to have their weapons with them. The ones I trained them with before you know…" I stated trailing off.
Minerva nodded and told a Hufflepuff student to spread to word. She looked confused but didn't question it.
"This side seems pretty secure, but what about the bridge in the back?" I asked.
"Mr. Longbottom and Mr. Finnegan have it covered. They are going to blow the bridge, that way the only way in is through this main bridge." she informed.
"I will fight at the front alongside the stone soldiers. I want you to set up some sort of U shaped wall at this end of the bridge and keep everyone behind it. I want the students ready to raise hell on those Death Eaters and monsters that get pass the stone soldiers and I." I said.
"I pray we make it through this Percy." said Minerva.
"I swear it on the Styx that we will win this." I said confidently as thunder boomed in the distance.
"Percy…" trailed off Minerva as she knew the consequences of swearing on the Styx. "Then we will defeat Voldemort." she said.
I watched as the students rushed around, setting up their defenses, weapons strapped to their back or hip, and wands in their pockets. These kids did not deserve to be in this situation.
Just then a bright blue light his the protection charms which was followed shortly by a large boom. Minerva, Ginny, and I watched as the protection charms that surrounded Hogwarts deteriorated. That's when all Hades broke loose. Death Eaters started flying in and all sorts of monsters started charging the stone soldiers on the bridge.
I started firing spells at the Death Eaters while getting out of the open. I glanced over at the stone soldiers and they weren't faring too well. Cyclopses and earthborns charged the stone soldeirs head on while empousa and large spiders followed.
"Ginny cover me! I'm going for the bridge!" I yelled to her. I didn't wait for a response as I pulled out my ballpoint pen and uncapped it. It elongated to its three foot long celestial bronze sword, Riptide. There were a few monsters that made it past the stone soldiers. I quickly cut down the cyclops that charged at me with his club. I sidestepped to the right, narrowly dodging a spear from an empousa.
"Sssson of Poseidon. Prepare to die." she said before sending a flurry of stabs at my torso. I successfully blocked all her strikes and jumped back, giving me some space. This time I was going to go on the offensive. I charged at her and feinted to the right with a slash and she fell for it dodging to the left where I prepare my next move. I quickly maneuvered Riptide to the left with a swing while lunging towards her cutting her head off as she exploded into golden dust.
As I turned around a hellhound pounced on me before I could react knocking me down. I was pinned under as It tried to bite my head off, but I kept its jaws away from my face just barely holding it back. It started to overpower me due to its sheer size over me. This is the end? To a gods damned hellhound?
Just then a knife was embedded into the skull of the hellhound covering me in a layer of gold dust. I looked to see who my savior was and it was none other than GInny.
"Thanks." I said relieved.
"W-what was that thing?" asked Ginny.
"A hellhound." I said and she nodded.
I charged onto the bridge and attacked any monster, Greek mythology or from the wizarding world, leaving a trail of golden dust or carcass of monsters. The stone soldiers were backing me up, putting up a good fight, but not good enough. The numbers of soldiers were dwindling and as their numbers dropped, I found myself getting surrounded.
"Oh gods." I muttered. I willed my bracelet to turn into my kukri and held it in my left hand. 'Never done this before, but oh well.' I thought.
I charged the monsters once again heading back to Hogwarts where everyone else was. It was not smart to be on this bridge by myself. Remembering the water nearby, I felt the familiar tug in my gut. I turned around to see all the monsters getting swept away off the bridge. I held them suspended in the air and crushed them with the water. Then I created an ice wall, covering the entire bridge to give us some time. I was sweating now, as that is a large bridge and it had a lot of monsters on it. I took out my flask and took a swig and I felt good as new again. I turned and saw some remaining Death Eaters still fighting. There were a few monsters left, but the stone soldiers were taking care of them. I turned my weapons back into their respective charmed forms, took out my wand and fired a couple of spells at some unsuspecting Death Eaters.
"Percy!" said Ginny running over.
"Are you ok?" I said looking her over.
"Yes, I'm fine. You bought us some time." she said gesturing to the bridge.
"Have you seen Harry?" I asked.
"I saw him head down to the boat house with Ron and Hermione." she said.
"Thanks! Hold down the fort!" I shouted running towards the boat house.
When I got there, it was quiet. I readied my wand and walk through the door. Hermione and Ron turned around with their wands pointed at me. Recognizing it was me they put their wands down and sighed in relief. They looked like hell. I looked passed them and saw Harry kneeling over Severus with a vial near his eye. I looked back at Hermione and she shook her head sadly.I walked over to the pair and kneeled down.
"Severus." I said sadly. "This will make it less painful." I said willing some water and put it over his wounds, taking away some of the pain.
"I'm sorry. This is my fault. Only if I hadn-"
"It's not your fault Percy. What's done is done and I've accepted it is time. Defeat them, the both of them." he said looking at Harry and I.
"Where is he? Where is Kronos?" I asked.
"He is with him. He advises Voldemort." he whispered, getting harder and harder for him to speak as the seconds slipped by.
"Be-" he stopped. The light from his eyes fading. I reached up to his eyes and closed them.
"Rest my friend." I said. 'Hades look after him.' I prayed to my uncle.
I looked at Harry to see what he was thinking, but I couldn't read him.
"We should get back and help out." said Hermione breaking the silence. Harry nodded and we made our way to courtyard.
When we got to the courtyard, it was quiet and dark except for the fires that burned. It was completely empty with no one in sight. The four of us walked to the main doors and opened them and looked inside. To say it looked bad was an understatement. There were people being carried on stretches all bloody and wrapped in bandages. There were people lying in rows, resting after being treated. I couldn't recognize some of them as their faces were wrapped up. A few sat around with empty looks on their faces while some were unconscious on the floor.
Ron walked in first, followed by Hermione, and then Harry. I stood by the entrance and watched in horror at what these kids were experiencing. I followed Harry after a few moments. The Weasley family all gathered around a figure lying on the floor. As I walked closer I saw it was Fred. Ron looked devastated as his mother hugged him. Harry turned away and looked to his right. I followed his gaze and in front of him laid Tonks, dead as well.
Harry stormed out. I watched him go, as I knew what he was going to do.
I walked over to Minerva, "What happened? Why did they retreat?" I asked.
"I don't know. But it has given us time to take care of the wounded." she said.
"You should have some people keep look out just in case." I suggested before walking away.
I made my way towards Dumbledore's office and sat on the steps. After a few minutes of waiting I heard a few footsteps coming down the stairs. They stopped for a moment, but then continued. Harry took a seat next to me.
After sitting in silence for a few more minutes he broke the silence, "You lied again."
"Half-truth." I stated simply.
"I saw you, talking to the two of them about all this. This grand plan." he said.
"Harry I know what you just saw must be hard on you. I want you to know I am here to help you. Just know when the time is right, you'll know why he entrusted you with it." I said.
"What?" he asked confused.
"Don't think about it too much right now. We have more important matters to attend to right now. Harry your friends need you right now." I said standing up with my hand out to him. He grabbed it and I pulled him up.
"Let's go." he said and we walked back towards the Great Hall.
On the the stairs leading to the Great Hall, Lavender was saying something to Ron, obviously comforting him. Ginny leaned her head on Hermione while Hermione had her arm wrapped around her, trying to comfort her as well.
Lavender noticed us first and announced our presence, "Harry! Percy!" The rest turned to us. Harry walked over to them and Ginny tackled Harry in a hug and started to cry. I walked over to Hermione and hugged her. She started to cry into my chest and I put my chin on her head. I rubbed circles on her back, soothing her. After a minute she pulled away and whispered a thanks.
I turned to the two Weasley children. Ron was talking to Harry and Lavender.
I walked over to Ginny with my arms out. "I'm so sorry. He didn't deserve this. I will make sure he's avenged. I promise." I said.
"Thank you. I know you will." she said before pulling away.
I turned to Ron and hugged him as well.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"Thank you mate. Let's just defeat them." he said as we pulled away.
"We should speak with Professor McGonagall." said Harry. We followed him back into the Great Hall. Hermione spotted Minerva first and pointed her out to the rest of us.
"Professor, what should we do now?" asked Harry.
"You should gather the rest of the Order and professors and we shall discuss a course of action." she said.
~~~Line Break~~~
We had gathered in Minerva's office.
"We should prepare for another attack." said Kingsley.
"I agree. We should also have people keep watch, have night shifts." I suggested.
"We need to set up defenses for the bridge. Some sort of barricade to keep the monsters at bay while we deal with the bloody Death Eaters." said Arthur.
"I'm going to need help fighting the monsters. I can't defeat them all by myself. Spells don't work on them." I said as much as I didn't want them fighting the monsters up close.
"I'll go with you. You've taught me a lot and how to use my kukri." stated Hermione.
"Are you sure?" I ask. She nods in return.
"I'd offer, but I'm still not too good with the sword." said Harry.
"As much as I hate to say it Percy, but recruit the best swordsmen we have here. You taught them, so I trust you know who are capable of holding themselves." said Minerva.
"Understood." I said.
"Crossbows! We can snipe the monsters and Death Eaters." said Lavender. I had completely forgotten about the crossbows. I couldn't teach archery with a bow and arrow because gods know I'm terrible at it, but crossbows I was able to do. Somewhat…
"I completely forgot about that. Good one." I said.
"We can have those with advanced spell casting and those who use the crossbow high up on the castle's pillars and walls to rain down on them as well as shoot some Death Eaters out of the sky." said Kingsley.
"Why don't we have people use brooms to fight the flying Death Eaters too." suggested Hermione.
"Brilliant idea Hermione." said Ginny.
"Our numbers are kind of low." said George who had been silent this entire time.
"Slytherin House?" I asked knowing they knew what I was implying.
"I think we should. They're not all bad, like Annie for example. There will be ones willing to help." said Harry.
"I guess we have no choice." said Minerva.
"I think we covered everything." said Kingsley.
"Then let us make preparations. Horace please come with me to the dungeons." said Minerva.
"I'll gather the students who are capable of more advanced magic." said Kingsley.
"I'll go gather the broom rider." said Ron.
"Got the crossbows covered." said Lavender.
"Guess I got the swordsmen." I said.
"I'll do that for you Percy. I think you should help with the defenses." said Molly.
"Thank you. I'll write down the list of names." I said.
"Everybody know what they're doing?" asked Arthur. When everyone nodded he said, "Meeting dismissed then."
I took a piece of parchment off of Minerva's desk and wrote down about twenty-five names and handed it over to Molly. "Tell them to get their swords and stay in the Great Hall incase I need quick access to them." I said. She nodded and left.
Hermione was waiting for me outside and we walked to the courtyard together.
"You ok Mione?" I asked concerned noticing something was bothering her.
"Honestly, I don't know how I feel right now, I'm worried for everyone and I just want this to end, all this pain." she said.
"Don't worry. You're going to get through this. All of you." I stated seriously.
"Just don't do something that will get you killed because if you do I'll have to bring you back to life to just kill you myself for being an idiot." she said.
When we got to the courtyard there were a few students standing around keeping watch.
"Well here goes nothing." I said concentrating as I felt a tug in my gut. A earthly U shaped rampart rose up out of the ground around the end of the bridge. It gave a high ground advantage to the students as well as enough cover from spells and arrows.
"Take position on the wall." I said to the students who were keeping watch for now. I climbed up the wall followed by Hermione and sat on the wall in silence.
"We've come a long way huh." I said.
"We certainly have. It feels like ages ago since we were little kids fooling around with nothing to worry about." she said smiling.
"I miss those days." I said smiling as well.
"What do you think our lives would have been like if we were normal people?" she asked.
"Boring. But really I can't imagine life like that." I joked.
"I couldn't either." she said.
We sat in a comfortable silence for bit, letting each other get lost in their thoughts.
"Hey Hermione you should get some rest you know, be prepared for tomorrow." I said interrupting the silence.
"Alright. You should too, don't stay up too late." she yawned while getting up and I followed suit.
"I'll walk you in." I offered.
"What a gentleman." she smiled.
"Only for a lovely lady like you." I said teasing with a bow before we started walking.
"You're not quite the knight in shining armor, but you'll have to do." she joked.
"You wound me milady." I said grabbing my heart.
"You're such a dork." laughed Hermione.
"A dork you love though." I said.
"Yes a dork I love." she said.
"When this is all over, I'm going to take you on an actual date." I said.
"I would love that." she said with a smile.
We arrived at the Gryffindor common room and it was completely empty. Everyone must be sleeping by now or at least trying to. It must be hard for these kids.
"I should get back to the wall. Get some sleep, you'll need you strength for tomorrow." I said before starting to leave.
"Percy wait." she said grabbing my hand. I turned around to see what she wanted and I was surprised with soft lips planted on mine. It was a slow and passionate kiss.
"Goodnight Percy." she whispered before turning around and walking towards the girls dormitories.
"Goodnight." I whispered but she was already gone.
I made my way back to wall to keep look out for a little longer. I wanted to make sure we would be safe for a little longer.
Time Skip To Morning
I was woken up to a bucket of water splashed. I opened my eye to see Hermione holding a bucket with Neville next to her.
"Couldn't just shake me or something?" I asked.
"We did, and you wouldn't budge. Plus you don't get wet anyways." said Hermione.
"What time is it?" I asked getting up.
"A little past nine-thirty." said Neville.
"Professor McGonagall called for another meeting." informed Neville.
"Best be on our way then." I said gesturing for them to lead the way.
While we walked I surveyed the defenses. It seemed most of the students were awake and eating breakfast. They're going to need the energy for the long day ahead of them. All the students had their celestial bronze weapons with them as well which was good. Neville and Hermione were ahead of me talking, but I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying. The three of us walked down the corridors and up the stairs to Minerva's office. Once we got to Minerva's office, Hermione opened the door and everyone who was in the meeting yesterday was already here.
"Now that everyone's here, we should go over everything." said Remus.
"I noticed all the students have their weapons now which is good. Although I hope they won't have to use them minus the archers. Speaking of the archers, I would like some to be within a good range of the bridge so they can send volleys to the monsters." I said.
"That sounds like it would be useful." said Harry.
"Almost all of Slytherin House will help in the fight." said Minerva.
"Good, we're going to need all the help we can get." I said.
The rest of the meeting went on for another thirty minutes or so until a Hufflepuff student came bursting in.
"They're here!" yelled the boy.
Everyone ran out of the room. Everyone knew their jobs and what they had to do. Hermione, Harry, Ron, Ginny, Neville, Luna, and Lavender followed me to the main courtyard.
"Hermione, Neville, and Ron, you're with me. Us four and the other twenty five I requested make twenty-nine. We have a good amount of stone soldiers left. I will be up in the front with the stone soldiers. I want you three with the twenty-five to be a secondary line. In case any monsters slip pass through the stone soldiers and I, which I'm sure some will manage to. Harry, Ginny, Luna, and Lavender I want you four to take control of the students on the U shaped wall. Send volleys of arrows when needed, but also you protective charms to cover us." I said.
"Percy I think I should go with you, watch your back." said Hermione coming next to me.
"No, I don't want you in immediate danger." I said.
"But Per-"
"Hermione please. I'll be able to fight clear minded knowing you're safer with the others." I reasoned cutting her off.
"Fine. Just be careful out there." she said.
"Always." I said.
We got to the courtyard and saw all the students ready. Tensions were high.
"Everyone ready?" I asked looking at my friends.
"As ready as we'll ever be." said Harry.
With that we went to our positions. I took out my trusty ballpoint pen and uncapped it and watched as it turned into Riptide. I walked past the stone soldiers and stood at the front. I could see a black mass moving over the field toward the bridge. This had to be everything they had.
I turned around and shouted raising Riptide, "They are sending everything they got at us! But we will not waver, for this is where we shall defeat the Dark Lord and his minions!"
Everyone cheered in approval. Just then the monsters reached the bridge and stopped. In the middle towards the front of the horde of monsters and Death Eaters, I saw a figure in golden armor towering over everything around him. Kronos. Next to the titan of time was no other than Voldemort himself. Kronos made a motion with his hand and that when all Hades broke loose. The monsters started to charge across the bridge along with some Death Eaters. Other monsters and Death Eaters started to fly towards the castle, but were met with broom flyers. The monsters and Death Eaters were halfway across the bridge but were met with volleys of arrows cutting them down. However, the monsters were plentiful and were faster than it took the time for the archers to knock their arrows.
A laistrygonian giant led the charge wielding a giant club. I started to charge, followed by the stone soldiers and met the giant halfway. Riptide and the club collided, both of us putting all our power behind the initial clash. He started to push me back slightly as he had more brute force. I disengaged and jumped back taking a defensive stance.
"I expected more from the legendary son of Poseidon. It's a shame you're nothing but a disappointment." taunted the laistrygonian giant.
"I'll show you a disappointment!" I yelled as I charged him.
I feinted to his left which he fell for as he shifted his body to the right raising his club to block my swing. I quickly spun around using the momentum from my feint and swung my sword to his unprotected back. He quickly slam his club against my sword blocking his own view of me. In this moment I shifting my bracelet into my kukri and swung it upwards.
"Have to faster than tha-"
He was interrupted as he looked down to see my kukri imbedded into his heart. I tore my kukri out and he exploded into golden dust.
I surveyed around me and saw that the stone soldiers were holding their own alright for now but monsters were still pouring in over the bridge. The arrow volleys were helping though but I know we'd get overrun if the stone soldiers got destroyed.
The fighting continued for gods know how long. I repeatedly cut down hellhounds, cyclopses, empousas, telekhines, and laistrygonian giants. However, they were slowly pushing us back. Sweat coated my body like a second layer of skin. Out of the corner of my eye I saw three cyclopses sneaking up on one of the stone soldiers who was occupied with a laistrygonian giant. I ran towards them and threw my kukri hoping for the best. Luckily it embedded itself within the upper part of the cyclops, effectively killing it as it turned into golden dust. The other two turned around to see who was targeting them, only for one of them to get their head sliced off. I jumped back and picked my kukri back up. I turned around just in time to see the last cyclops with his spiked club raised, but with a crossbow bolt sticking through his neck he fell over turning into dust. Thanks gods for whoever that was.
Just then a loud roar was emitted across the bridge. I turned to the sound to see it was a drakon. The drakon came charging across the bridge destroying half of the stone soldier we had left on the way here shaking the bridge all while at it.
I charged at it along with the rest of the stone soldiers. Crossbow bolts were being shot at it, but just bounced off the drakon's hide. As I ran towards the drakon head on, trying to go for its eyes or its mouth when it opens it. Unfortunately, it kept me at a good distance eying me warily. Some of the stone soldiers had to turn their attention back to the monsters that were attacking them.
"Pin it down!" I ordered the stone soldiers.
The first stone soldier that went for the drakon got its head whipped off by the drakon's tail. The second one got pummeled by the drakon's claws. Thankfully, the third one was able to get onto the drakon back, weighing it down. Soon two more stone soldier leaped upon it and pinned down the drakon completely. I walked up to it carefully before stabbing Riptide hilt deep into the drakon's right eye. It roared in pain and exploded into golden dust. I looked up and saw monsters still coming across the bridge. How could have Kronos gathered such a large army? I looked to see how many stone soldiers were left. There was only the three that helped me kill the drakon and four others left. This was bad, really bad. I turned back to the secondary line. There was only about fourteen people there including Hermione, Ron, and Neville. They all looked worse for wear. I could see other students bringing the injured inside the castle.
"Retreat to the top of the wall everyone! Stone soldiers cover us!" I yelled running towards the others while cutting down some monsters on my way.
"Get up the wall now! I'll stop the monsters that slip past the stone soldiers for now!" I ordered.
Hermione, Ron, and Neville ushered the other students up the wall and started to climb up themselves. I started cutting down the cyclopses that were coming at me while walking back towards the bridge's direction to buy some more time. Behind the cyclopses I could see only two stone soldiers left, but both were taking a beating by the laistrygonian giants attacking them.
I rolled out of the way as a club came down on the spot I was standing at. I stood back up and charged at the cyclops, sidestepping another vertical strike down and stabbing Riptide into the cyclops's stomach, finishing off the small group of cyclopses.
"Percy! Run!" yelled Hermione. I turned to look at her and back towards the bridge. The last two stone soldiers had been destroyed and the monsters were charging at me.
"Gods dammit." I muttered and started to run towards the wall. I got to the wall and started to climb up. The monsters were getting closer and closer as I climbed. Just as I got to the top of the wall the monsters reached the bottom of the wall. The remaining students continued to shoot their remaining bolts at the monsters that started to climb the wall.
"Cut them down!" I yelled as I sliced off a telekhine's head off. This wasn't good. It wasn't working, there were just too many of them. We were slowly getting overrun.
Just as more monsters were climbing the wall, loud booms could be heard like cannons being fired.
"Wha-"
Explosions littered the courtyard, blowing up the monsters and spreading golden dust cannon fired continued for the next couple minutes until the monsters started to retreat.
"What was that?" asked Hermione coming over to me.
Right as I was about respond, a 300 foot long bronze hull peaked through the clouds. The bronze hull kept descending until it revealed ten large oars, five on each side. Then a mast with a familiar looking dragon head.
"Friends." I said simply with a large grin on my face.
