Welcome everyone! Here is the short insight into my new story. There is more. However, I kind of wanted to see how you all would react to this and if I should continue. I've had this story planned out for a while now.IMPORTANT NOTE!There are FairyTail spoilers involved. So if you haven't finished the current anime series or atleast caught up to the 100 years quest in the manga, you've been warned. There will be some slight gore and profanity. I'll adjust the rating as we go along to be accurate with the rating system. I love constructive criticism and encourage all to review. Let me know what I can do to improve and what needs more work!

Disclaimer: I own nothing but the small idea to make this story.

Now without further ado...

Her quaint little apartment had always been her safe space. From the cozy little kitchen to her lovely bath. This was her home. Even long after Brandish had broken in, she never once worried over being in danger. Nothing would ever hurt her here.

But now, as she lay curled in her bed, she realized she wasn't so sure after all.

The shadows danced eerily across the walls and the corners shrouded in darkness seemed like portals filled with unknown horrors. The fear was stifling. Cold sweat beaded across her brow. She didn't have to look to know that the shadows slowly creeped towards her.

Every night it was the same. The darkness surrounded her, engulfing everything in their path. Easing closer and closer with each passing night. She knew eventually she would be swallowed whole and the thought terrified her. This wasn't a simple fear of the dark either. This was different than anything she had ever felt before. It was a foreboding of days to come. The icy chill in the air seeped into her blankets, settling deep into her bones. Her body shivered as she buried herself further into her bedding. Finally settling down, coffee-colored eyes fluttered closed. Sending her into another restless sleep.

Morning came too soon for the blonde. Her body ached and her head pounded. Pulling her covers over her head once again, she prayed for more sleep. But her prayers went unanswered. The day continued to grow warmer, eventually sending her out of her nest with a groan and a silent curse. Pushing her sweaty bangs back, she trudged towards the bathroom. A nice, cool shower sounded wonderful to her.

Passing by her sink mirror she slowed to a stop. Staring back at her was the shell she had become. The dark bags beneath her eyes spoke volumes on her sleeping habits as of late. Her eyes were dark and hollow. Accentuated by her unusually pale skin. Her hair hung in dull waves down her back. She looked so sickly. How had she become like this so quickly? It had only been a week since the night terrors began. Hadn't it? Looking at herself now, it seemed like it had been longer. She wouldn't last much longer like this and she knew it. Resolving herself on getting help, she rushed through her morning routine. Pulling on a short blue skirt and a white tank top. She put her hair into a damp side ponytail and, as an added thought, dabbed a little bit of foundation over her face. 'I can at least try to not look so dead', she thought darkly. Grabbing her celestial keys from her bedside table and quickly pulling her boots on, she made her way out of her apartment.

Making her way through town, she observed the morning rituals of the townspeople. Shop owners were setting up stands. A few civilians were out shopping in the early morning light. The street lamps were still lit as well. Lucy couldn't remember the last time she had willingly been up this early. Her journey through Magnolia was short. Mostly stuck in her own thoughts, she came upon the guild house much sooner than she had expected.

Taking a deep breath, she weakly pushed open the large wooden doors. The guild was mostly empty. There were a few stragglers from the night before sleeping at their respected tables. Cana laid curled into a ball on top of the bar fast asleep. A little stream of pool beneath her head. Mirajane and Kinana stood behind the counter chatting quietly as they dried a few glasses. Mira's eyes briefly drifted to her as Lucy took her seat at the bar. Kinana noticed her and smiled brightly.

"Good morning Lucy. It's nice to see you in here so early."

Lucy nodded towards her. "I couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to stop by and get some breakfast." Lucy looked between the two. "Unless it's a problem. If it is, I can always come back later."

Kinana giggled softly. "Nonsense. Just let me go make you a plate real quick. I'll be right back." She quietly moved to the back towards the kitchens.

Lucy watched as she left until she felt someone looking at her. Turning her head, she saw Mira giving her a disapproving look. "What?"

Mira sighed, placing the last glass onto the shelf. "Lucy, you're going to end up sick. Did you get any sleep last night?" Mira looked at her closely, taking in her appearance and the makeup covering her face. "Oh Lucy." she whispered sadly.

Lucy grimaced. "I slept a couple hours. Honestly." She sighed, folding her arms on the counter before laying her head upon them. "It's not like I want to be sleep deprived Mira. I just can't sleep worth a damn lately."

Mira slowly nodded her head, taking all the information in. "Have you thought about maybe seeing a healer? They may be able to give you something to help." The suggestion was a good one. One Lucy had even already thought of.

"I thought of that too." Lucy admitted. "But I dont think Wendy could fix something like this and I don't really want to disturb Porlyusica unless I'm dying."

With a soft sigh and a small role of her eyes, Mira gave her a strict look. "Then go tell the Master and have him decide what you should do."

Lucy groaned, rubbing her face roughly. "He's just gonna worry over nothing and send me to the mean old hag anyways."

Mira giggled before patting Lucy on the head affectionately. "You think everyone hasn't already noticed? We're all worried about you Lucy." Mira caught Kinana coming out of the kitchen from the corner of her eye. "Just talk with him and get this nipped in the butt, okay?"

Lucy gave her a small smile. "Okay." Kinana then appeared, giving Lucy her plate stacked full of pancakes and bacon. She quickly dug in, determined to finish her meal quickly and head upstairs to Makorov's office. "So what time did the party end last night?" she muttered as she paused in her eating to sip the fresh orange juice Mira had slid next to her plate.

Kinana giggled cutely behind a hand as Mira smirked, obviously knowing something scandalous that Lucy missed out on by leaving early the night before. "Oh, about 11 last night or so." Mira said nonchalantly.

Lucy squinted at the takeover mage before shoveling the last bit of her breakfast into her mouth. "That's way earlier than normal. Did something happen?"

Kinana started to tremble where she stood, a broad smile upon her face. Lucy gave her a questioning glance before returning her focus to Mira. Mira just smirked, enjoying the building suspense.

Lucy simply cocked a well trimmed brow at her. "Well?"

Mira didn't say a word. Kinana anxiously looked between the two, her own excitement about to burst forth.

All talking ceased. Only curious glances here and there.

"Oh my God!" Kinana excitedly fussed. "Just tell her already, damnit!"

Lucy's brows creased. MIia finally had pity on the poor blonde, smiling slyly her way. "As of last night, I can finally cross one of my dream couples off my matchmaking list." Mira gave her a triumphant smirk, puffing out her large chest in a show of pride.

Lucy gasped, eyes widening in shock. "No way! Which one?"

Mira giggled as she collected Lucy's dishes. "Let's just say that in the near future, I will be gaining a sister." She turned to take the dishes to the kitchen to be washed. Only pausing at the door to look back at the bar over her shoulder. "In-law." She winked before disappearing into the kitchen.

"No freaking way!"

After a few hours of small gossip and ultimately talking wedding plans for the biggest wedding Fairytail has ever seen, Lucy finally decided it was now or never. Excusing herself and sending a brief nod towards Mirajane, Lucy headed toward the guild stairs.

Not pausing until she reached the 2nd floor landing, she merely looked out upon the nearly empty guild. Trapped inside her own thoughts.

'Maybe asking Makarov isn't the best idea.' She sighed before running her fingers through her hair. 'He's probably going to become insanely worried and then I'll get a firm talking to for taking so long to do anything about it.' Lucy rubbed her temple. 'Damn it. Maybe I can just skip it.' Flickering her eyes towards the bar below, she made eye contact with a strict looking Mirajane. Brown eyes widened in panic. 'Nope.' Turning, Lucy briskly made her way to the Master's office. Fearing the takeover mage's brutally glare more so than her master's fussing. Reaching the office door, Lucy timidly knocked.

"Yes, come in."

Opening the door and stepping inside promptly, Lucy took note of their short master glaring down at a stack of papers on his desk. She quietly shut the door before making her way to the small loveseat in front of his desk. Seating herself, she waited for him to finish before speaking. Makarov looked haggard as he signed a paper then put it to the side. He gave a tired sigh as he rubbed his temple, much like Lucy had done moments prior. Looking up from his work, he seemed surprised to find Lucy in front of him. "Lucy, my child?"

She gave a small smile. "I'm sorry for bothering you. If you were expecting someone else, I can always come back at a better time." She made as to rise from her seat before a cough stopped her.

"Nonsense." He cleared his throat as he moved his work to the side. Giving her his full attention. "What can I do for you, my child?"

"Ah well. You see." Lucy bit her lip awkwardly. "I was hoping you'd be able to recommend if I should see a healer or not, I suppose."

"A healer?" Makarov looked closely at her, taking in her appearance in detail. He frowned in concern. "You do look a little tired. What's going on exactly?"

Lucy grimaced. "Nothing is going on really. And I mean that honestly. I'm not sick. And I'm not stressed." Lucy sighed deeply. "It's just that for the past week or so I haven't been able to sleep well. I just keep feeling this.. thing."

Makarov gave her a questioning look, his worry rising within him. "What thing, Lucy?"

Lucy groaned before hiding her face in her hands. "I don't even know. It's this strange feeling. Like something is about to happen. Something bad. And this dark-" She waved her hand, trying to find the right word. "Pressure, I guess? It surrounds me. Almost suffocating. And I end up lying there in bed, absolutely terrified. Until I finally pass out from exhaustion." Lucy sighed. "I can't keep doing this. I just can't."

Makarov sat there in silence for a while, watching his child practically give up. It hit him hard. Hurt him even. He wanted so bad to help her and he would. He'll send her to Porlyusica and make sure she gets better. His brows furrowed. 'But is this just a sleep problem? Or something else?' he thought. If it was just a sleep issue then a couple weeks using Porlyusica's special potions should fix everything. But what if it was something else? Was he perhaps getting too far ahead of himself? Worrying for nothing?

Shaking his head, he made up his mind. Opening the top drawer on his desk, he pulled forth a blank piece of paper. His pen flowed quickly. The only sound in his small office was the scratching of pen on paper. Finishing the quick note, he folded it then sealed it inside a small envelope.

Rising from his seat, he gave the young woman a worried glance before rounding his desk to stand before her. Resting a hand on her shoulder reassuringly, he gently spoke. "Do not fret my child. We will get to the bottom of this and fix it." Lucy raised her head to look at him. He gave her an affectionate smile. "You take this," he pushed the envelope into her hands," and give it to Porlyusica when you go to see her later. I'll send word to let her know to expect you." Lucy gave him a small smile. "Thank you." Makarov chuckled. "Anything for my dear children." He gave her shoulder one more pat before returning to his seat. Lucy rose and made her way to exit the office. Before she could fully open the door, a brisk cough stopped her in her tracks. "And Lucy?" Raising a single brow, she turned to meet his stare. "Yes, Master?" He gave her a pointed look. "Next time don't wait til you're dead on your feet to come to me for help, alright?"

She gave an awkward giggle. "Yes, sir." He turned back to his paperwork and Lucy used that moment to make her escape quickly before he decided she needed a more lengthy talking to. She sped through the guild, making her way to the front door. Pausing only momentarily to flash her envelope towards a stern looking Mirajane. After seeing her nod of acceptance, Lucy practically threw the guild doors open. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, she made her way into town to stall until time for her 'appointment'. All the while gripping the mysterious envelope tightly.

There's Chapter 1! Don't forget to review! I'll be back in a week with Chapter 2 unless it goes really well. Then I might throw it up early. Until next time!
