Guys! I literally posted the first Chapter and within an hour I saw so many read my story. It makes me so happy that people still enjoy this site. It might make me sound old but I've enjoyed this site for so many years. My high school years especially. I'm just so thrilled to see the site still thrive. I had one person message me. They asked me if I edited the chapter moments after I posted it. I'm guessing her browser reloaded and she saw the changes I made. I'm a bit OCD about some things. I posted it. Read it through once more with the site's format (which makes me angry sometimes). And I noticed some things wrong so I fixed it instantly. I'm sorry if that made some of you guys feel a bit crazy like you were seeing stuff. It was me! But I got it fixed. :)
I hope everyone had a great Independence Day! I know I did. But I'm a bad pyro. So I guess I'm easy to please. Couple of cherry bombs and I'm absolutely giddy. But enough about me.
Some of you have probably been wondering where Natsu is. Do not worry. He will make his appearance. This is supposed to be a romance after all. Now to the main part. I know some of yall have been waiting for this. So here it is. Chapter 2 of To Rewrite Our Story!
Disclaimer: I own nothing.

She sped through the guild, making her way to the front doors. Pausing only momentarily to flash her envelope towards a stern looking Mirajane. After seeing her nod of acceptance, Lucy practically threw the guild doors open. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, she made her way into town to stall until time for her 'appointment'. All while gripping the mysterious envelope tightly.
-To Rewrite Our Story-
The forest seemed to go on forever. Lucy swore the trip wasn't this long the last time she'd been to the fuschia-haired healer's home. It was supposedly mid afternoon but you couldn't tell with how little light the tree canopy let in. Lucy was slightly on edge as she kept a close eye on the shadows. 'Maybe I shouldn't have procrastinated so much while I was in town?' she thought miserably. Yes, she had put off this little trip to the last possible moment. Moving from store to store, just trying not to even think of the journey she'd have to make. And she was doing a great job of forgetting about it. Until she noticed just how low the sun was in the sky. Not wanting to be stuck outside in the dark, much less in a dark forest, she had hightailed it out of town. Now here she was fumbling around, praying to Mavis that she wouldn't get lost.
The temp had risen quite significantly as the day progressed. Even under the thick canopy of the forest, the air was humid and dense. Lucy swiped her handkerchief across her forehead, only momentarily debating a quick swipe inside her shirt as well before thinking against it. 'Under-boob sweat is going to be the death of me', she grimaced. To say she felt completely gross would be an understatement.
Just as she was about to call quits and head back home for the day, she came into a clearing. On the other side sat the small home of Porlyusica, safely tucked away inside a strong, old tree.
Lucy sighed. "Well. Guess I can't go back now." She mumbled. She crossed the clearing and before she realized it, she was knocking on the front door. Standing there awkwardly, she counted the seconds down. The door swung open with a gush of air. Standing intimidatingly in the doorway, Porlyusica gave her a sneer. "Well are you just going to stand there or are you going to come inside so we can get this over with?"
Lucy snapped to attention. "Ah yes! So sorry ma'am!" She rushed inside, only to stop. She didn't quite know where to go or where to stand.
Porlyusica scoffed at her. "Just sit on the examination bed already." She turned her back to the blonde to gather some necessary items. Giving Lucy just enough time to childishly stick her tongue out at the old mage and quickly take her seat before she noticed otherwise.
Lucy waited patiently as the old healer brought over various bottles with different colored liquids inside. As well as a few empty tubes and a small syringe. Lucy gulped audibly. She always did hate needles.
Porlyusica briefly acknowledged her patient's hesitation. "It's only for a small blood sample. Nothing more." she spoke gruffly, but there was a hint of care underneath it all. Lucy nodded in understanding, although her stiff posture assured Porlyusica that she was still nervous.
Grabbing a wooden chair, Porlyusica pulled it to the bed side and calmly took her seat. "Makarov said he'd send his orders with you?"
Lucy gasped before whipping the now crumpled letter from her key pouch. She tried to straighten it out as best as she could but easily gave up and handed the envelope over with a slightly ashamed look. Porlyusica scoffed at it but opened it nonetheless. Lucy watched as she quickly read over the contents. Her own curiosity eating at her. What did it say? If Porlyusica's facial expressions were anything to go by, it seemed to be a simple letter explaining what she had told him earlier that same day. There was a brief moment that Lucy swore the old mage's eyes widened just the tiniest fraction. But it was gone so quickly the next moment that Lucy thought it had just been her imagination.
The wise healer resealed the letter before setting it upon the closest table. "So insomnia? Perhaps sleep paralysis?" She questioned as she got up to wash her hands. Washing and drying them thoroughly, she slipped on a pair of gloves before returning to her seat. Turning, she gathered a clean rag and fresh antiseptic.
Lucy nodded. "I guess. I don't really have any experience with either. But I did do a little research when it all first started."
Porlyusica nodded absentmindedly as she dipped the rag in the antiseptic before turning to Lucy with her free hand raised. "Give me your arm and I'll get started on the blood sample."
Giving her arm to the mage, Lucy quickly looked away. Porlyusica thoroughly cleaned the area over the best visible vein. Discarding the rag into a small bin, she grabbed the syringe and properly prodded the vein. When it was properly visible, she quickly scooped the needle in. Ignoring Lucy's muffled yelp to the slight pinch.
Porlyusica took only a small tube full. Removing the needle from Lucy's arm, she put pressure on the wound before replacing her finger with another clean rag. "Put pressure on it." Once Lucy had it handled, she pushed up from her seat. She went to the table she had gathered all the brightly colored liquids upon. One by one she tested a drop of each liquid to a drop of Lucy's blood. Some she capped off, saying it took a little while for any reaction to occur. Others happened simultaneously. Little puffs of smoke here. Color changes there. One liquid even caused her blood to catch on fire. With each new reaction, Lucy's anxiety got worse and worse.
'Oh sweet Mavis! Don't just let me sit here freaking out! Explain it to me as you go! Please!' She thought pleadingly. But the pink haired mage didn't even acknowledge her. Continuing with test after test. Finally only one more bottle sat on the table. It gave off a dark eerie glow. Lucy could feel the anxiety induced sweat drip down her back. Fanning herself with her hand, Lucy waited for the last test. But instead Porlyusica just sealed the rest of her blood sample off into a separate tube before returning to her seat beside Lucy.
Lucy exchanged glances back and forth from the old healer to the lone bottle and back again.
Porlyusica finally acknowledged the celestial mage before scoffing. "Quit making yourself sick with worry. That test isn't needed anymore so I didn't waste it." she gruffly explained.
Lucy, not seeing any lie in the mage's eyes, finally relaxed. Sighing in relief. "So? Do we know what's wrong with me? Can we fix it?" The real question she wanted to ask was if she could finally sleep in peace. And the intimidating healer knew this quite well. Nodding her head, Porlyusica went on to explain. "I've done all the tests. Your magic is normal. You're not sick from any infections or virus. There's no spells or hexes at work either." She hesitated only briefly. "Did anything happen during the war that may have caused unnecessary stress on your body?"
Lucy seemed to think for a moment before shaking her head. "Not really. I mean it was nightmarish. But you saw me during the fighting when you came to tell me about Natsu's 'tumor'. I was fine then." She pursed her lips in thought. "The only thing I can think of is when I had to rewrite the book of E.N.D."
Her voice was soft but Porlyusica still heard her. Her hands clenched tightly. "You wrote in a demon book and you still live?"
Lucy chuckled dryly. "Yeah. I just about died though. If Gray wasn't there to expel the demon blood, I would have been a goner." She sighed. "It saved Natsu though so I'd probably do it again if I had to."
Porlyusica sat absolutely still. Contemplating and going over every detail in her head. Lucy, noticing the human hating mage's unusual silence, took it as something else. Grabbing one of the healer's hands with her own, Lucy gave her a smile. "Don't worry though. The book disappeared after I rewrote it. I couldn't write in it again even if I wanted to." She jokingly said, not once noticing the older mage's sudden flinch at her words. Porlyusica stood up abruptly, startling the blonde. Regaining her composure quickly, Porlyusica explained how she'd whip her up a simple sleep tonic and they'd see how it went from there. Lucy nodded, smiling gratefully.
Porlyusica went to work, quickly drafting a simple but strong sleep tonic. She explained how to use it and what symptoms to expect with it before thrusting the potion into the startled blonde's hands. Showing her out, Porlyusica could only watch from her doorway as the young mage made her way back into the woods.
With a deep sigh, she re-entered her home. Dropping herself back into her previous seat, she could feel her whole body sag in defeat. Her eyes kept glancing at the lone envelope on her table. It was taunting her. She was sure of it. She rubbed a frail hand across her face. Giving in, she grabbed the envelope roughly. Jerking the letter out from within. Her eyes danced across the page once again. Pausing once again at the same sentence as before. When she had first read the letter she was shocked. Why on earth would he want her to do that? It just didn't make sense. But hearing Lucy's tale, it all fit. The letter. Makarov's demand. That book. It all made sense now.
She gently laid the letter back onto the table. Her eyes seeing but not focusing anymore. Standing slowly, she turned. Grabbing the last bit of blood Lucy had given, she pointedly stared at the glowing bottle standing alone on her work table. Its essence seemed to gather shadows about it. It's very presence weakened her resolve. She didn't want to do it. She really didn't.
Slowly grasping the bottle, she lifted it to eye level. Observing every little detail closely. No, she didn't want to do it. But she had to. Moving back to her workstation, ready to finish the job given to her, she repeated that last written demand in her head.
'Make absolutely sure that it's not caused by a Demon's curse. Use THAT bottle if you have to.'
-To Rewrite Our Story-
So apparently it wouldn't let me upload the whole chapter. Something kept going wrong. So I broke it up into 2 chapters instead. Then I had to edit file names so I wouldn't get chapters mixed up. Ugh! It's been a hell of a day. I hope you do enjoy this chapter! The show never went into a lot of detail how Porlyusica did her healing and magic. So I mixed some known items, with a little witchcraft, and some modern medicine. And viola! I did my best. :D lol
Don't forget to review! I'm going to upload the 2nd half next week by Friday. I know I said I'd post once a week. I suppose I just got too excited with the 2 reviews and 4 follows I received. I still plan on only 1 upload a week. Even though this one had to be split into 2. My same rule still applies though! Show a little love and I'll upload early! See you guys next time and have a great week!
