Heyo! Another chapter here! And I think it's the chapter yall have been waiting for! You'll see what I mean. I refuse to give it away! Muahahaha!
I want to thank everyone who favorited/ followed! You guys are awesome!
LRCN: I got the email alert to your review! I looked everywhere on the site but it wouldn't show it. But thanks to yahoo I did read it. And I personally loved your review! You hit the nail right on the head! I personally don't understand why more writers didn't write a story about it. It was there for the taking and I never once believed it just stopped being an issue. It's one of the reasons I decided on writing this story and I loved the whole concept. It had endless possibilities! As for the story, I most definitely will finish it. And just wait! There's going to be so much more going on! I have more than one trick up my sleeve! :)
Now then! On with the story!

-Previously on To Rewrite Our Story-
Finding her travel bag, she packed enough clothes for a few days. No more. Placing the sealed letter in the bag, she sat her bag by her door.
'I'll deliver it to Makarov as I head out of town.' She cleaned everything up before heading to bed. After all, she had a long journey ahead of her.
-To Rewrite Our Story-
Sunlight leaked in, blanketing the room in a gentle glow. Silvery lace curtains swayed in the soft breeze. Lucy squinted her eyes, trying desperately to stay in her dream world. The sun continued to rise higher in the sky, raising the temp in the room to a staggering high. Sweating profusely, Lucy rose from her bed with a groan. Looking briefly to her small alarm clock, her eyes widened as she did a double take.
'I-I slept through the entire night?!'
Grabbing the clock up in her hands, she raised it closer. So sure she was imagining things.
'10:47. I actually slept that long?'
Still in disbelief, she gingerly placed her alarm back. 'I can not believe that potion actually worked. And I'm perfectly fine to boot.' Her smile was brilliant. Racing into her bathroom, she took in her visage in her sink mirror. There were still bags underneath her eyes but they weren't as noticeable as before. The color was slowly returning to her skin. No longer sickly and pale looking. She even seemed to have a renewed glow to her eyes. Lucy smiled, relieved.
Going through her morning routine with a new spring in her step, she showered and dressed quickly. Deciding on her favorite Heart Kreuz blue shirt and matching skirt. Lifting her one detached sleeve up her arm, she sighed happily. It was so refreshing to have her energy back. She felt almost completely like her old self again.
Lucy paused in slipping on her boots. 'Why only almost?' She thought, taking a moment to feel deep within herself.
Now that she thought about it, something did feel different. If only just slightly. Maybe that potion did more than just make her sleep easier. Maybe it gave her power a boost as well? It certainly seemed like she was a little stronger. Then again she had been getting almost no rest for the past week or so. Maybe she was just overanalyzing. She'd been so weak as of late she hadn't even been able to summon Plue. Much less one of her other spirits.
Lucy gasped. 'Loke!' she realized gravely. 'He's going to absolutely kill me!' Slipping on her remaining boot, she grabbed her keys. Ignoring the slight tingling sensation that raced up her arm, she flipped through them until she came upon a certain golden key.
Stretching her arm out in front of her, she called out. "Open! Gate of the Lion, Leo!" Slashing her golden key through the air, a door chime echoed in the small space before her usually cocky celestial spirit appeared in a puff of smoke. He stood there staring at the blond mage firmly. Not a single noise was made. Lucy grimaced. He was absolutely livid if he wasn't speaking to her. Come to think of it, he hadn't even used his own powers to come see her either. Did that mean he was angry from the start? 'I've really done it now,' she thought dejectedly. All her spirits must hate her now. What has she done?
Taking a timid step toward the spirit, Lucy tried to apologize and reason with him "Listen Loke." she started, bringing a hand up in a placating manor. "I'm so sorry for not calling you sooner. I didn't mean to ignore you all. I'm so sor-"
Lucy was startled into silence as Loke swiftly grabbed her raised hand and pulled her into a tight embrace. Resting his cheek upon her head, he chuckled dryly. "Even after being so sick and weak, you still only think about us." He gently petted her hair. "We're all fine, Lucy. And we weren't upset. Just insanely worried. We could all feel your magic getting weaker. Even Aquarius was worried sick."
Lucy sighed, thankful her spirits were alright. But she couldn't contain the small giggle that escaped her lips at the mere thought of her dear water bearer being so worried. "Was she really or did she just yell that I'd be better by now if I had a handsome boyfriend like she does?"
Loke threw his head back, laughing boisterously. "She would say something like that, wouldn't she?" He swiftly wiped a stray tear from his eye. "But no. Instead she kept bullying me and Virgo to come check on you."
Lucy felt herself momentarily stiffen in shock, before removing herself from Loke's arms. "Speaking of which, why didn't you?" she asked, peering up at him questioningly.
Loke sighed. "We tried." He seemed deep in his thoughts. "That first night. We could feel your terror. Your rising fear with each night that passed. It was unbearable. But it seemed like everytime we tried to come and help, it was like you were suppressing us. Making us stay in the celestial world."
Lucy frowned. She hadn't subconsciously locked them in, had she? It was possible. She had done so before. But why would she do it when their presence would have helped her? Maybe she was just so exhausted she didn't realize what she was doing?
Lucy shook her head, dispelling the thoughts until another time. "I'm so sorry, Loke. I didn't mean to."
The lion spirit smiled at her warmly. "It's fine. Just please try not to if it happens again."
Lucy returned the smile, agreeing without needing to speak a word. They sat there in her room, catching up and talking about everything that had happened in their short separation. Loke told her of how the others were doing. Portraying the immense story of how dear old Crux had almost died after falling asleep on Aquarius and drooling on her shoulder. Lucy laughed so hard tears came pouring out of her eyes. She recounted her previous trip to Porlyusica's house and the potion she was given. She even went so far as showing him the tonic. Loke smiled. So glad his mage was feeling better and had her strength back.
Hours passed before the two finally decided to split ways. Lucy's protesting stomach being the main reason. Deciding upon having a decent meal at the guild, Lucy bid her farewell. Promising to call upon him soon to talk again. After he left in another puff of smoke, Lucy grabbed her keys and her small bag before heading out. Only pausing to lock up her apartment.
Making her way through town, she couldn't help but walk along the water's edge. Balancing clumsily with a brilliant smile upon her face.
Noticing her, passing sailors called out.
"Glad to see you back to yourself Lucy!"
"Be careful not to fall in!"
Lucy giggled to herself. "I will! You guys have a good day!"
From there, she practically skipped to the guild hall. Smiling and waving at all the citizens as she went. They smiled in return. Glad to have their perky celestial mage back.
Coming upon the large wooden doors of the guild, she hurriedly swung one open. "I'm back!" she called out. Ignoring the surprised stares, she happily made her way to the bar. She took her seat, all the while smiling softly at the shocked takeover mage who stood behind the bar.
"Lucy?" Mira asked, briefly wondering if this was the same young girl who had slumped against the bar in pure exhaustion the day before.
Said mage sent her a dazzling smile. "The one and the same." Lucy giggled as the poor mage simply blinked at her.
Snapping out of her daze, Mira cleared her throat while collecting herself. "You seem much better."
Lucy just couldn't stop smiling. "I'm feeling so much better!" Folding her hands neatly over the bar, she sat up straighter on her stool. Never once letting her smile fall. "Mira, can I please get the biggest, most delicious plate of food?" she asked politely. "Just not Natsu big. Normal big would be just fine."
Mira stared at her before releasing a giggle. "But of course!" And with that she quickly made her way to the kitchen.
Lucy took this free moment to glance around the guild hall. Vijeeter was in the far corner showing Nab his latest dance. Reedus was painting a humorous rendition of it from a nearby chair. Cana was actually seated at a table, seemingly doing a card reading for Macao and Wakaba. Each holding a mug likely full of alcohol. Levy sat at a far table reading, peering up only occasionally to reply to the blue haired water mage seated in front of her. Elfman and Evergreen sat close by huddled towards each other, whispering softly. The rest of the thunder league at the next table. Bixlow nursing a drink of his own as Freed stood waving his hands around exuberantly about something or another.
Lucy snickered. 'Probably complaining about not being able to accompany Laxus on his latest mission.' Rolling her eyes at her beloved guild mates, Lucy turned back in her seat just in time to see Mirajane rounding the bar with a plate. Placing it in front of her, Mira gave her a beautiful smile.
Looking to her plate, Lucy felt her stomach clench. The two large slices of Mira's homemade pizza made her drool. 'Skipping breakfast probably wasn't such a good idea.' Returning Mira's smile with a bright one of her own, Lucy dug in. She almost moaned as the flavor tingled her taste buds. Mira might be scary but no one cooked quite like her.
Starting on her second piece, she noticed someone staring at her out of the corner of her eye. Glancing up she saw Mira. "Is there something wrong?" she asked before taking a large bite.
Mira watched her. Gigging softly as she witnessed Lucy try desperately to lick up the juice escaping her lips. "No. I'm just so happy you're feeling better." she admitted softly. Suddenly a mischievous glint entered her gaze, making Lucy flinch. "I know someone else who'll be extremely happy as well."
Lucy swallowed harshly, almost choking. Clearing her throat, she looked at the white haired girl questioningly. "Who's that?" she rasped out.
Mira smiled sinisterly. Resembling the cat who ate the canary quite accurately. "Oh, no one." she replied nonchalantly. "Just a certain fire breathing dragon slayer."
Lucy couldn't help but look at her strangely. "And why would he be happy?"
Mira giggled. "Why? Because his favorite little partner is all better after being sick for so long." She leaned in closely, whispering almost directly into Lucy's ear. "I bet as soon as he sees you he'll grab you up into a tight embrace. So happy and relieved that you're okay."
Lucy hastily leaned away, Mira's breath tickling her. Hoping the blush on her face wasn't as noticeable as it felt, she cocked her brow at the takeover mage. "One problem with your little fantasy Mira."
Mira leaned upon the counter, her smile still in place. "Oh? And what is that?"
Lucy pursed her lips. "Well, you see. Natsu would have to originally know that I was sick in the first place."
The smile instantly dropped from the oldest Strauss sibling. Her eyes widened and her voice became the tiniest of whispers. "He didn't know?"
Lucy shook her head.
Mira's jaw dropped. "Lucy!" She whispered harshly, hoping to not catch the attention of the others. "They've been gone for a whole month! Are you telling me that you've not once sent him a letter?!" By the time she had finished, Mira was practically leaned over the counter in Lucy's face. Her glare sharp and accusing.
Lucy sighed, gently pushing the takeover mage out of her personal space. "I did the first week. But he never replied." She ran a hand through her soft hair, a clear sign she was exasperated. "And as far as I know of, no one's been giving him updates on how I am. So I figured he didn't really care."
Mira narrowed her eyes at the blonde mage. "Lucy, you know that's not true."
Lucy gave her a wistful smile. "Mira, I know you want us to be this incredible power couple. And hell, you probably have a whole wedding planned out and waiting for us." She pushed her now empty plate away. "But it's not gonna happen."
MIra grabbed her hand, holding it gently. "You don't know that. Stranger things have happened."
A sad smile was sent her way. "Mira, he doesn't feel that way about me." Grabbing her things, Lucy rose from her stool. "Thanks for the meal. I really needed it." Turning, she started her way to the doors.
"Lucy?"
Turning, she met Mira's motherly gaze. "What about you?" She asked softly, her question only meant for Lucy. "How do you feel about him?"
Lucy chuckled dryly, her eyes lowering to the floor. "How indeed." Turning, she pushed through the solid oak doors, leaving the guild.
Behind the bar Mira released a soft sigh. 'Oh Lucy. If only you could see what we all do.'
-TROS-
Lucy walked around Magnolia, her head miles away. Probably in the same location her heart was. With the very same salmon haired man. She sighed dejectedly. Love was so fickle. If you were to ask her when it had happened, she couldn't quite tell you. Maybe it was that day years ago when she had been so sure he was going to ask her out. Her thoughts were then fueled only by mere rumors and Mira's goading. Perhaps it was that time he sent a whole damn tree down the canal. Just for her. Or maybe it was that time she thought she would finally lose him as she laid curled around him. Naked as the day she was born. Trying desperately to warm him even though a war waged around them.
Who knew the exact moment it happened. Lucy just knew that it had.
She could still remember the day he left for this current mission.
(Flashback)
She remembered how Makarov had gathered everyone in the guild hall before informing them of a then available mission. An entire village by the coast had been destroyed. There had been a possible dragon sighting in the near vicinity. The first since Acnologia. Everyone was on their toes, flashbacks of the previous war still fresh in their minds. Master had called forth each slayer. Telling them they were to investigate and then proceed accordingly. Each slayer agreed instantly. Even her fire breathing partner had no qualms. Understanding the situation fully for what it was. They were told to pack for a long trip and that they were expected to leave the following morning. Scheduled to arrive in Harjeon in 3 days time to meet up with the slayers from Sabertooth. It would be a joint mission. Makarov then dismissed us. Everyone scattered, going their own way.
Natsu had grabbed her hand firmly before taking off out of the guild. Not a word was said between them until they had reached Lucy's apartment. As she busied herself by cooking them a quick dinner, he had fiddled with random items around her small home. His sudden voice piercing the silence had nearly caused her to burn herself.
"Gajeel said he was going to exchange letters with Levy while we were gone." It was such a random thing to mention. Lucy had merely stared at him.
He cleared his throat. "It's a good idea. That way they could let each other know how the other was doing and what's happening at home."
Lucy raised a brow at him. "And what? Would you like letters too?"
Natsu's gaze fell to her table, absently fingering the place mats there. "I just thought that this way you could practice your writing and I'd have someone to talk with."
Lucy giggled. "What? Don't think you and the others will have much to talk about?"
He chuckled, finally looking at her. " You know how they are. Gajeel will have Lily.. Sting and Rogue are close and will probably keep to themselves mostly. Wendy will have Carla. Happy will be too busy trying to impress Carla. Plus, I think everyone has someone they'll be writing to."
Lucy turned to pull a fish from the fridge for a certain blue exceed who had yet to arrive. "Who are they exchanging letters with?"
Natsu leaned against the counter, watching Lucy finish up. "Gajeel and Levy like I said earlier. Laxus said he had someone in mind but wouldn't say. And Wendy mentioned Romeo asking her if he could write to her."
Lucy turned to him in surprise. "Romeo asked her?" Seeing his nod, she couldn't help the 'awe' that escaped her lips. "That's so sweet of him," She grabbed their plates before heading to the table. Almost stumbling over her own feet.
Natsu shook his head, before reaching forward. Grabbing both plates from her, he sat them in their designated spots. Taking their seats, they dug in. Only stopping to continue with their small talk. The previous topic dropped.
Once they had finished, Natsu had helped her wash the dishes and put away any extra items. Leaving him to finish putting away the last of the clean dishes, she made her way to her bedroom. Going through her normal nightly routine, she changed into shorts and a tank top. Returning to her room, she paused at seeing the coral haired boy sitting on top of her bed. "You need to get plenty of sleep if you're supposed to leave in the morning."
He raised his head, taking her fully in. He gave her a small crooked smile. "Actually I thought I'd sleep here tonight. Can't have a good night's sleep without a comfy bed." he chuckled.
Lucy tilted her head slightly. Trying to think of any ulterior motives the slayer might have. Not coming up with any and deciding to give in just this once, Lucy sighed. "As long as you stay on your side of the bed."
He gave her a brilliant smile. "Aye sir!"
Lucy giggled as she crawled into her spot. Natsu waited til she was settled before crawling in after her. They laid there, turned towards each other.
"So are you?" Natso whispered so quietly.
Lucy peered at him through cracked eyelids before sighing. "'Am I' what?" she asked as she settled further into bed.
Natsu nuzzled his head into her pillow, inhaling deeply. "Are you going to write to me while I'm gone?"
She peeked at him from under long lashes, wondering where this strange new personality of his came from. Lucy wiggled a little closer, content in basking in the heat he gave off. "If you want me to." she mumbled sleepily.
He chuckled softly. "Of course I do."
Lucy sent him a gentle smile before her eyes closed, falling into dreamland.
When she awoke the next morning, he was already gone.
(End Flashback)
When she came to her senses, she realized where her memories had brought her. Standing before the small cottage in the woods, she couldn't help but notice how abandoned it looked. There were more weeds than normal growing in the yard. A thick layer of dust covered the windows. She sighed before looking toward the horizon. Noticing how low the sun had gotten. 'Maybe I'll come and clean it up a bit tomorrow.' She thought as she turned to head home for the night.
'Yeah. That's what I'll do.'
-TROS-
Back at the guild, Master Makarov sat in his office dutily looking over the guild's monthly expense report. Making notes and corrections where they were needed. He had nearly finished when a knock sounded from his office door.
"Who is it?" he asked, not once looking up from his work
"Macao." came a voice from beyond the door.
Looking up, Makarov gave his office door a good long stare. 'What could Macao want so late?' he wondered. "Come in" he called out, returning to his last piece of paperwork. He carefully looked over the document as Macao let himself in, sitting down in front of his desk shortly after. Makarov glanced up, taking the 4th Master in. Realizing he had the current Master's attention, Macao scooted forward just far enough to slip a single envelope upon his desk.
Makarov eyed it warily. "What's that?"
Macao shrugged. "I'm not sure. Porlyusica dropped it off last night before quickly leaving." he said while leaning back in his seat, getting comfortable.
Makarov raised a brow in interest before grabbing the envelope and tearing it open. Reading the contents quickly, Makarov let out a deep sigh. Dropping the letter upon his desk, he rubbed a wary hand across his face. 'And here Mirajane had been telling me that things were better today.'
Macao watched his distraught Master. "Is something wrong?"
Makarov merely shook his head. "I'm not quite sure. But I have a feeling that something will happen soon enough."
Macao leaned forward. "Like what?" he asked quietly.
The 6th master shook his head. "I'm not sure of that either. But I know we'll need everyone here for when it does happen."
Macao nodded his head in agreement. "Mirajane mentioned that the Slayers should be returning in the next few days. Something about receiving a letter saying so."
Makarov folded his hands neatly across his desk, leaning back fully in his chair. "Then let us hope they return in time." He slowly turned his head to the side, watching the setting sun through his small office window. 'Please Mavis. Look after my children and keep them safe.'
-To Rewrite Our Story-
Talk about taking forever! Oh my god! I thought it would never end! I went over this chapter like 8 times and I kept finding things to fix. Quite honestly, there still might have been mistakes. I just figured the more I read it the more I'd hate certain parts. So I had to literally tell myself to leave it alone. And god was that hard. I may go back one more time just to nitpick. Lol
So tell me what y'all thought! I know after the last chapter, a long one would be appreciated. And the site actually let me load it so I'm happy. Although I've said it once, I'll say it again. I HATE THE FORMATTING ON THIS SITE! So bad! All the literature classes in college and high school did not prepare me for this much disappointment in being unable to use indentions. I swear! Ugh!
Anyways, tell me what yall think. Is there anything I can improve on? Just tell me straight. Leave a review and hit that follow/favorite button.
And be on the lookout for the next update. Things are going to start picking up and you won't want to miss a thing!
Until next time, have a great week!
