And I'm back lol
As I've mentioned before I'm still trying to decide on the update scheduling. Friday was the most ideal before but I'm still catching up on some things. So just bare with me for a little while until I get things sorted. Then we should have a pretty set schedule. I'm still aiming for Friday/Saturday updates but for now it's just gonna be a wing it kind of thing. Just wanted to let you all know so there's no misunderstandings. So PLEASE stop sending rude messages. You know who you are.
Now let's talk about all the love. Cause I love talking about love. You guys have literally shown the story so much appreciation. I'm so grateful to all of you. Last I checked we're up to 40 reviews for the 8 chapters. There's probably more now. WOW. Just wow. Did not expect this story to get so much attention. Honestly I didn't. I actually expected roughly about 1 review per chapter. I obviously did not take into account how great you guys are. Like wow. I actually showed my mom when she popped in earlier. I was like "Lookie!". And of course she thought I'd lost my damn mind. No appreciation. Oh well. :p
Still. Just. WOW.
I really wanna give you guys a present for all this awesome love. So I'm starting on that one shot this weekend. The coupling still hasn't been decided yet. But at the very end of this chapter is a list of all that's been mentioned so far. Go vote and by next weekend I should have yall's present ready to drop. So just remember to check out the list below.
On to my lovelies. I'm naming everybody.

Reviews for Chapter 8:
I Need More- I didn't mean to leave you all in suspense! :( Honestly I wasn't. I was just trying to get something in there to get everyone to be like "Oh shit. It's that serious." But I guess suspense isn't too bad. I'm glad you liked the part about Wendy. I know she's super brave and tough. I mean she took down a F.A.C.E. and defeated a demon. But I honestly just kept thinking that seeing someone she truly cared about in this type of situation would definitely be different. I mean she's still a young impressionable child. So I just typed what felt right in this scene. And I'm so glad no one's upset about it and that you guys actually liked that I put it that way. It made it much more relatable in my opinion. As for shipping, I totally love Mira with Laxus but then I also appreciate the Freed idea as well. And it literally killed me to pick. It was awful lol About the schools, I envy you. Our classes started literally the same week normal school started up. Which I'm used to there being at least a few weeks between them but where I live they're being extremely sketchy with the school situation this week. Like the kids go 5 days of the week to actual school. And there's already been so many Covid reportings just in the last 2 weeks. It's ridiculous. Classes are going good though. My son thinks it's hilarious his teacher is on the computer and I'm actually loving the whole online thing. I can eat pizza rolls while I take exams. It's the best. Although I forgot how different college classes are so I'm still adjusting. It makes me so happy you mentioned it though! I appreciate the thought greatly:)
Ghostini- Thank you! I am so freaking happy that the last line gave you chills. It took 8 different lines to get the effect I wanted. EIGHT OF THEM! And I literally was about to give up and then I got that line in there and I was like "yesssssssssss". So I'm glad it had the desired effect and also that you're enjoying the story!
LRCN- I think I understood your review. I'm also super tired. Might have to go back and read it again after some sleep. But I'm glad you're hooked!
Kaisha- Admiration! (I couldn't remember how to say "Awe" in French) Vous avez écrit en anglais pour moi?
Kiss :)
(If I said any of that wrong, I deeply apologize! I'm gonna have to brush up on other languages.)
Forbidden-Hanyou- Just saying but if you expected that ending then I don't deserve to write. Lol I'm glad you brought up the whole celestial world thing though. I always thought to myself Like okay? She wrote in a DEMON book. Her magic is pretty light and fluffy. I mean there are some dark things in it. But for the most part I'd think the two things are almost complete opposites. So there had to be some conflict, right? You're such a smart cookie. I love how you're kind of on the same exact page as me. :) I'm kinda binge watching The 100 right now and some of their fanfiction in my spare time. But I'll definitely be checking out your story. Could always spare time for FairyTail fanfics. As for the last bit of your review…. Like I said before. The exact same page as me. ;) I'll try my hardest to not disappoint!
Guests- Thank you for the review!
Amanny- I promise nothing too too too too TOO bad will happen to her. But alas, at this point there can't be too much good. Your vote is noted! I'm doing the final vote now. The list is at the bottom. Check it out. If you change your vote let me know, or I'll assume it's still the same. Last chance to vote is September 5th!. By then, the story will already be done and no going back from there. Thanks for reviewing!
Annjenish- You're welcome! And I hope this chapter proves to be to your liking as well.
And now, On With The Story!
Disclaimer: I own nothing!
-Previously on To Rewrite Our Story-
"Hey Gajeel," He quietly hollered.
Said man stopped, turning to fix the fire breather with an exasperated look. "What now Ash for Brains?"
Natsu continued to stare at the sky, never once lowering his gaze. Nodding to the open sky above them, he asked. "Is the sky supposed to be like that?"
With a deep sigh, Gajeel leaned his head back. Then his eyes widened at the sight before him. The sky had turned a dark crimson, almost black. Stars blinked brightly before streaking across the sky. One after another it happened. Gajeel couldn't contain the gasp that escaped his lips as that strange feeling completely surrounded him. Suffocating him.
The heavens were falling.
-To Rewrite Our Story-
The barest of light cascaded over Magnolia. Warming the early risers as they started their day. Bringing the city to life before your eyes.
But in the FairyTail Guild, everything was silent.
Makarov stood on the second level overlooking the ground floor. Observing his children as they slept. After the excitement and horror of that night events, all members had congregated into the guild hall. Giving out comfort and encouraging words to those who needed it. Before a blanket of exhaustion had overtaken them. Sending them to dreamland. It always did warm his heart to see his children come together in times of desperation. Just like now.
His eyes wandered to the farthest corner where a young blue haired girl had fallen asleep leaned against her feline companion. Her tears having dried up not that long ago. Even now you could see the clear glistening on her rosy cheeks.
Makarov released a deep sigh as he lowered his head as if in prayer. This was not how he had planned the past several hours to go. Not by a long shot. Glancing sideways towards the infirmary door he wondered if anything would ever go the way he planned.
The sound of footsteps ascending the stairs brought his attention to the figure making their way towards him. Macao looked exhausted as he dragged a hand through his hair and stifled a yawn with his other. Their eyes met briefly before Macao took his place beside him, overlooking their family.
"So.." he seemed to hesitate, his voice course. For what reason Makarov didn't know. "What do we do now?"
Makarov sighed again. "That I do not know."
Macao observed their master, taking in just how much Makarov seemed to have aged in those few brief seconds.
Nodding his head, he leaned forward to rest his hands on the second floor railing. "We need a plan or something. The kids will be wanting answers when they wake up."
Makarov chuckled bitterly. "And what do we tell them? That one of their own is possibly dying? All because she put her life on the line to bring back another from death?"
Macao grimaced. "Do we know for sure she's dying?"
A large fist smashed into the railing causing Macao to jump back in shock as it splintered. "We don't know anything. Not a damn thing!" Makarov's voice cracked. His hand shrunk back to normal as he brought it to hang limply at his side. "I've failed her, Macao. I promised we'd get everything fixed. And now she's in there, probably fighting for her life and I can't do anything to help her."
Macao hung his head, understanding his master's feelings all too well. He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. "We never did deserve someone as selfless as Lucy."
Makarov's fists tightened at his sides as a few tears escaped his eyes. "No, we didn't."
-TROS-
(Mirajane's POV)
The light flittering through the window had roused me almost immediately from my sleep. At first, I had tried to escape my bed to start my daily duties. But a deep ache had brought me to full attention.
Looking down I had immediately noticed the white sling holding my arm to my chest.
A broken arm.
And suddenly my memories rushed back to me. The slumber party. The laughter. The screams. The silence.
Just like that, I was up on my feet. Pushing past the pain and the ache to make my way to the bed directly across from me. I stumbled a few times and almost completely toppled over at one point. But nothing was gonna stop me.
And then I was there. Standing over the occupied bed and the tears flowed freely.
Her golden hair settled around her pale face like a halo. A cold sweat had broken out across her brow but otherwise she seemed to be sleeping peacefully. If it wasn't for the steady rise and fall of her chest, I'd almost assume the worst. Her right arm had been bandaged heavily. A waste basket beside her bed was littered with bloody rags and empty canisters.
Feeling for the empty chair behind me, I slowly lowered myself into it. My body sagging in relief.
'She's alive. She's going to be okay.' I kept repeating it inside my head. Praying it would all be fine.
Straightening up so I wouldn't fall out of my seat, I noticed another person sitting in a chair on the other side of the bed.
Erza sat there, cautiously watching me. Her eyes squinted against the bright light filtering into the room. I must have woken her up, I realized.
"How are you feeling?" she croaked at me before clearing her throat.
I nodded my head absently. "I'm fine." I reached out to grasp Lucy's hand that laid limply on the pristine white sheets. "How is she doing?"
The red haired mage leaned back in her chair, stretching almost feline like, before settling herself more adequately in her chair. "She's stable for now." She rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "She hasn't gained consciousness yet though."
I bit my lip as my eyes focused on her injury. "And her arm?"
Erza stiffened. "Severe burns." She paused, hands nervously fiddling with a loose thread on her skirt. "Probably major nerve damage. We won't know exactly how bad until she wakes up."
My eyes burned as the tears welled up. Lucy. My poor dear friend.
My throat constricted and I tried to swallow the emotions down. But I couldn't and a quiet sob escaped my lips.
"Mira?"
I furiously blinked away the tears. "Yes?" I croaked.
Erza seemed to think over something in her head for a moment before nodding to herself. "I shouldn't have froze like I did. It's my fault you were hurt and I'll carry that guilt with me forever. I just want you to know how sorry I am."
I shook my head, a sad smile upon my face. "It's not your fault Erza. None of this is. You had no way of knowing what would happen and you did your best. That's all any of us can do."
She didn't look too convinced but didn't argue. I sat there, my mind miles away. No. It wasn't Erza's fault. If it was anyone's fault, it was mine. I had known about Lucy's night problems since they had started. It's true I didn't know just how bad they were. But I knew about them. And I should have gone to Makarov myself as soon as I knew. Maybe then we could have fixed this before it even began. But I didn't. I just assumed she had been reliving the war in her dreams. Hell. Who wasn't still haunted by it? So instead I had just watched her wasting away before my very eyes. What kind of friend did that? Certainly not a good one.
And then that night. That night put so much into perspective. 'Was every night that way for Lucy? Judging by how utterly terrified Erza had been there was no way. So maybe this was a first? But then what caused it? Why did it happen?'
I peeked a glance at Lucy's still figure. Still completely unnerved by how death like she appeared.
'And why Lucy?'
-TROS-
Books. Mountains and mountains of books. Everywhere.
On the floor. Covering the walls. Piled on the tables and chairs. And somewhere underneath this hoard was a bed.
Although taking her whole room into account, Levy admitted to herself that finding the aforementioned bed would take more effort than Levy wanted to put forth. So throwing her shoulders back and with a lift of her chin, she dove head first into her personal sea of information.
She knew she shouldn't have left the guild. Not when her best friend laid comatose in the infirmary and the rest of her family stayed to wait it out. She was needed there. But she didn't like having so many unanswered questions floating through her head. So many that she couldn't even focus on the absolute terror that had her hands trembling.
Yes, she was scared. Yes, she was almost nauseous with worry. But that had to wait. She needed answers. Answers that apparently all the medical books she owned couldn't give her. So she had decided to go out on a limb with this one. And yeah it was a crazy idea. But hell, why not.
Tearing through each pile, she only gave the titles minimal attention before tossing them one by one over her shoulder. No this wasn't how you treated your books. But she was in a hurry and had no time to waste. She'd reprimand herself later.
Moving to a tittering stack in the corner, she started the search process. Only barely recognizing the yellow of her pillow sticking out from under a rather large tome.
She knew what she was looking for. She had had it in her hands not even 24 hours before. But remembering where she had dropped it and finding it were seeming to be nearly impossible.
If only she could remember what exactly it had stated in its old pages. But no matter how hard she tried to think back, she just kept drawing a blank. Her mind was like a freaking sponge. Absorbing info after info. But for whatever reason she couldn't even recall a single word. Not from this book.
Sighing in frustration, Levy chucked a small romance novel rather brutally across the room. 'Where the hell is it?!'
A very subtle black design on the spine of a large volume caught her attention. Slowly making her way towards it, Levy couldn't help but feel like an animal stalking its prey. Eyes never moving from the prize and feet quietly moving forward. The thought almost caused a smile but a quick shake of her head had her focus back. Wiggling the large book out from under a few other novels, Levy felt her shoulders sag in relief as the title seemed to gleam off the tanned leather.
'Necromancy and Resurrections: A memoir. This is it.'
Levy opened it, staring closely at the worn pages as she went page by page looking for the section she needed.
Now she knew this wasn't her usual reading material. She knew that almost too well. And just touching the book that first time had almost stopped her heart in fear. But the memories of losing him and then having him back. It had made her almost completely unhinged. She had needed something to calm her worries. To reassure her that he was fine and would remain to be. So when officials left over from the magic council had captured and locked away any and every book under the black wizard Zeref's ownership, Levy knew she had a chance.
Getting to them had been the hard part. And yeah, okay. Gajeel pretty much was the one who took the book. But it had been her plan. And he had followed through with it flawlessly. For her. Because they had something. A connection.
Although thinking back now that hadn't been how he worded it. No, it was more like "Can't have you getting sick overthinking stuff. Wouldn't even know what kind of meds a shrimp can take. Gehe."
'The idiot.' she recalled fondly as she tried to find an index of some sort. She stopped abruptly as a certain chapter caught her attention.
"What?" She scanned briefly through the section. Diagrams littered the pages as well as ingredient lists. Various little written notes filled the margins. Some kind of enchantment Levy assumed.
Turning to the next chapter, her body stiffened.
Resurrecting the Dead.
This was it. This is what she needed. If what Levy had overheard their master saying had been true and Lucy did in fact bring someone back from death, the answers would be here.
Her eyes scanned each word, absorbing as much as she could comprehend. Some things were worded strangely and Levy wasn't sure if it was intentional or otherwise. She skipped over those and continued her search.
Page after page she searched. There were mentions of precautions in preserving the body you were trying to resurrect. And apparently when you brought someone back there were complications in getting the souls back into the body. 'That's what the books must have been for.' she thought bitterly. The next section recalled Zeref's very first attempt and fail at resurrecting his deceased brother. 'Natsu'.
The next few pages were identical but written notes in the margin explained what was adjusted or changed for each trial. And there were many trials. With each attempt and failure she read, Levy couldn't help but feel a little for Zeref. He just wanted his brother back. But she also noticed the urgency that grew in each new part. He had slowly gone insane. Obsessed even more with each fail. It was right there written in ink. His slow descension into madness.
Finally the chapter ended and Levy was left rereading Zeref's account of finally reviving his little brother. There was excitement and relief. But there was also a loneliness. But over all, the dark intentions had remained. No longer a journey to reunite with a lost sibling. But instead to find a selfish way to an end.
Peeling her eyes from the page, Levy gently swiped away the tears flowing down her cheeks. When they had started, she didn't know. But they were there. As was the hollow feeling in her chest. Remorse. For the 2 brothers and all that kept them apart.
Clearing her throat, she flipped through the previous pages briefly. It had been very thorough. But there was no way Lucy could have done it. None. So how exactly had she revived someone? Was there more than one way?
The curious chapter she had discovered before briefly flashed through her mind. If the souls were possibly connected through the books, what else was? Settling herself against a sturdy tower of books, Levy reclined back as she began the chapter. A small seed of hope threatening to bloom in her chest.
'Soul Manifestation in the Written Word. Please have what I'm looking for.'
-To Rewrite Our Story-
Over 3000 words. No where near my best. By any means. However, I had Natsu and Gajeel in this chapter quite a bit originally. I decided to take that lil bit out. I'm gonna edit and emphasize on it the next chapter. So I am currently listening to my professor explain decomposition to a room full of college newbies. I'm technically supposed to be taking notes but I aced this shit last year so I'm not too worried. The junior sitting next to me has literally been watching every word I've typed so far. Talk about unnerving. What a bad student not paying attention to the teacher. XD lol
Which brings up an important question…. Why the -beep- couldn't they make labs online as well? I mean seriously. If I can have a whole class about social norms online why not labs? So stupid.
Anyways…. HERE IS THE LIST! PICK A COUPLE AND VOTE! I AM NO LONGER TAKING RECOMMENDATIONS!
-Lan WangJi/Wei WuXian from Grandmaster of the Demonic Cultivation
-Hachiman/Yukino from Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
-Natsu/Lucy from FairyTail
-Elide/Lorcan from Throne of Glass.
Now I'm pretty sure it was just those 4 suggested. Pick one. Vote. I'm tallying. SEPTEMBER 5th IS THE DEADLINE! IF YOU HAVE NOT VOTED BY THEN IT'S GONNA BE TOO LATE! SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOLKS!
Now I've gotta go. I think Prof. just saw me sneak a bite of pizza from my bag. I know Junior did.
Until next time..
