Part 1: A Mysterious Hunter
It was a stormy night in Jump City. People on the streets were rushing to their homes to get a warm cup of tea. A warm drink will make their body hot. And maybe it could help them relieve the stress from their work and their school studies. Everything seemed to be normal from everyone's perspective… but not from "him."
A figure with a cape was standing on the rooftop. He looked down on the streets as if he is about to hunt down some prey tonight. Why he hunts prey, you may ask. That's because it is his profession, his duty, and his blood.
The figure kept silent, not moving his body an inch. Only his cape moves as the wind blows it violently. But it didn't matter to him that much. Such distraction would not disturb his concentration. A concentration to locate his targets.
BOOM!
A sudden explosive erupted from the bank! The figure faced his attention at the building and saw a gang of robbers coming out from the building like an army of ants. He knelt on his one leg and brought his telescope to get a better view of his targets.
The robbers are well-equipped with handguns, submachine guns, and knives. They move out in a military formation. A squad, to be specific. That means these soldiers used to serve in the army.
"Hmmm… former military personnel got their disqualifications from their superiors it seems." He said. "Humph, not much for a challenge."
When he saw the robbers escaping into the dark, filthy alleyway, he planned his ambush on the robbers. The hunt has begun.
"Haha! Good job mates! Another success for today's operation!"
"You said it, sir!"
The robbers were busy cheering with their "operation", so they call it. They like to use military terminology in their conversations. It makes them feel they are part of the spec-ops. Specializing in robbing, that is.
"They won't find us here. Now come on. Let's head back to our base. We are going to-"
POOF!
"Huh?! What the…?!"
Before the leader could finish his sentences, a white smoke suddenly blew up out of nowhere. Someone had detonated the smoke grenade from behind. Which can only mean one thing? The securities are here!
"Everyone! Get to your position with your weapons!"
"Yes, sir!"
They used their surrounding as cover. They lock and load with their submachine guns and handguns to open fire at the incoming securities. With their well-armed weapons, they kill them all in one sight. So they think.
"…"
"Ha… ha… ha…"
The clock is ticking.
The heart is beating.
Their body is trembling.
And the worst of all… the temptation of pulling the trigger is increasing.
"Ha… ha… ha… ha…!"
"Calm down, soldier. You must not lose your focus!"
"But sir! I… I… I…"
He tried to stay calm, but he couldn't. As he saw something moving in the smoke.
"I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE!"
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
When he opened fire at the figure, everyone except the leader followed suit the nervous robber. They kept firing, firing and firing non-stop. The leader ordered them not to waste ammo, but they were too busy shooting the enemy.
"DIE! DIE! DIE!"
"Hold it! Hold your fire right now!" the leader shouted. He went to the nervous soldier and pulled down his weapon and smacked his head to stop firing.
"I said hold your fire, goddamn it!" the leader scolded at the nervous robber as he grabbed the collar.
"Have you lost your cool soldier?! When I order you to hold your fire, YOU HOLD YOUR FIRE! Got it?!"
The nervous robber nodded and replied, "Y-yes sir…" And soon everyone stopped firing as they slowly calm down their nerves.
"Now, let's investigate the smoke. Sergeant you with me. Others stay put."
"Yes, sir!"
The two of them stood up from their hiding position and slowly approached forward. They turned on their flashlight to look around the area. The leader wants to know whether his men killed the securities. But couldn't find a body lying around.
"There is nobody around here…" the leader said.
"Maybe it was something else, sir? Like a… stray cat or something?"
"Could be." he agreed with his sergeant's theory as they lowered down their weapons.
"Well, there is nothing to worry about it then. Come on Torch, get your feet on and let's go."
Torch was the nervous soldier's name who shot first. He would reply immediately to his commander's order, but strangely he didn't.
"Torch? Are you there, torch?"
The leader looked back to see if Torch is there. But to his surprise, torch and the rest of his men went missing.
"Torch!? Dave!? Mike!? Everyone!?"
"…"
He shouted out to his men, but only silence replied to his call.
"Where is everyone…?"
"Maybe they all got-MMM!?"
"Sergeant?!"
The leader looked back to his sergeant, but the same thing happened to his missing men.
He looked around the area one more time, making sure if there is someone near him. He is all alone. With his submachine gun and his combat knife. He would normally act cool being alone in this kind of situation. But after seeing his men went missing, it is a different story.
"Come out now! I-I'm not afraid of using my firearms! Where did you take my men?!" He yelled.
"To my collections" the mysterious figure answered behind the leader as the thunder rumbled loudly from the sky.
The leader heard the voice and tried to face back at the mysterious person quickly, so he could take a shot. He changed the submachine gun's fire mode from burst fire to rapid-fire. He tried to shoot in the face instantly as possible.
But he was too late.
PEW!
The mysterious figure quickly drew his gun and shot in the leader's head. He was a few seconds faster than the leader.
The leader fell back on the floor. And lay dead on a wet, cold, dirty pavement.
"Your worth me a lot in death punk." The figure said as he put his blaster pistol in his holster.
