Also online middle school is wayyy too hard so if I'm not posting on weekdays it's because I'm doing school ALL day :) have a good day.
Anakin Skywalker frowned. Something was wrong.
He and his padawan Ahsoka Tano were currently on The Resolute, in their shared quarters. Anakin had one the fight for the top bunk, and up until then he'd been trying to get to sleep.
Something was coming from Ahsoka's bunk.
Was she…?
Anakin slowly got up to avoid making too much noise, quietly climbing down the latter and looking at the small girl.
Her form was covered by a thin blanket, but he could tell her shoulders were shaking, and could hear her sad, muffled sniffs she was trying to swallow back.
His eyebrows crossed and his heart twisted at the sight of her crying. He couldn't even think about what she would be crying about, but it didn't matter.
He sat down on the end of the bed. She jolted up with surprise and her lekku instantly darkened. He could see her face was red and puffy and she had tears streaming down her face.
"Master-I-" She stuttered, blushing hard and wiping off her cheeks. "What's up?"
"I heard you crying." He murmured. "Are you okay, little one?"
He hadn't called her that since the first few months of being his padawan, and she certainly was older and more mature than then, being sixteen and all. But she didn't correct him like she usually would.
She nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just, uh," She couldn't really think of a reason for crying that would make him any less worried, and she didn't have the energy to come up with one. "I don't want to talk about it."
He shook his head. "You don't have to."
She gave him a small thankful smile before something clicked in her head. "Wait, Master, can…." She sighed. "Can you stay down here?" She asked.
"Of course I can, Snips. The top bunk isn't as comfy anyways."
She rolled her eyes at him with a smile.
After they both laid down Anakin pulled the blanket over the both of them and tucked it gently along her side. She inched closer to him, curling up and leaning her head on his chest until he picked up on her hints. He wrapped her up tightly in his arms, pulling her in close as she gave a small 'hmph' of approval.
He chuckled, looking down at her. "Better?"
"Mmhm." She allowed her tensed muscles to relax and cuddled up against him.
"If you ever wanna talk, Snips…" He started in a hushed tone, absentmindedly rubbing her back.
She nodded, her voice muffled. "I will, I promise." She smiled weakly. "Thank you, Anakin."
"Of course, Ahsoka."
After a while the small room was filled with comfortable silence along with their quiet breathing and occasional sleepy sighs.
Anakin's hand rubbing her back went slower and slower until he stopped, and she peeked open her eyes to look up at him. His own were closed, the rise and fall of his chest and his heartbeat slow and steady.
She moved her arms to hug his middle, shifting around in his arms until she was satisfied.
"G'night, Master." She muttered with a yawn, closing her own eyes and allowing herself to drift off to sleep as well.
