"Sooooo…" Fairy leaned over the counter, staring at Jack with a knowing smile. "How was last night?"
Jack gave her a knowing grin. "It was very interesting."
"Very interesting? What does that even mean?"
"It means many things."
"And yet I still don't know what happened."
"Oh? I guess you're just not asking the right questions then."
"Did you make out with him or what? I doubt you'd have sex so early, but you didn't let him leave without making out, right?"
"We...kissed. Not a full on make out session."
"What was it like?"
"To put it simply it was the best kiss of my life."
"Oh?" Fairy perked up. "Do tell!"
"Well, for one, it felt like his lips were practically made for mine. I don't think I've ever meshed so well with someone."
"How romantic! Did he like the kiss?"
"I think so? It was right before I got in my car and he left immediately after so I don't really know."
"I wish he would come in so we could ask him!"
"I don't think he will. He said he has to go away on business for a few weeks."
"Ugh, so we have to wait all that time to know if he enjoyed it as much as you did?"
"Yuuuuuup. Trust me I'm just as disappointed as you. I want to know how he felt the date went."
"How do you think it went?"
"I think it went well. I dropped so many hints that I'd like a second one, and he discussed texting and keeping in contact until he gets back."
"Did you give him your number? Please tell me you remembered to give him your number."
Jack's eyes widened almost comically. "Shiiiiiiiiiittttt…" He tugged at his hair with a groan. "I didn't get his number."
"You poor, dumb bunny! You got so lost in kissing that you forgot to exchange numbers."
"So now I have to wait miserably until he gets back and can't even text him to ask."
"You poor guy." The phone in the back room rang, and Fairy sighed. "You need to keep busy or else you'll worry yourself sick."
"I know, I know. I'll start working on tomorrow's orders if you man the register?"
"Yeah, totally. I'll grab the phone and you work your magic on those flowers."
"Yes, ma'am." Jack went to the back room to gather his supplies, intent on burying himself in work to distract from his down mood.
Fairy answered the phone and came in a few moments later. She smiled and waved a card in the air. "Seems he couldn't wait either."
"No way! He gave you his number?!" He grabbed the card from her hand and looked at the phone number excitedly.
"Not only that but an order too. A dozen sunflowers to be promptly delivered to one Jack Frost. Shall I tell you what the message is?"
"There's a message too?"
"Uh huh. 'I'll see you soon, my little flower child. I'm counting down the seconds until I can see you again.' Romantic, huh?"
"Extremely romantic." Jack turned away to hide his blush.
"Sooooo?"
"So what?"
"Are you gonna use that number?"
"Duh."
"I get it, I get it. I'll give you your privacy." She chuckled and held her hands up in surrender, going back out to the register.
As soon as she was gone, Jack took out his phone and typed in the number on the card. Fairy gave me your number. I'm sorry I didn't remember to get it from you last night.
K: I understand. You were a little distracted last night, as was I.
J: More than a little thanks to you.
K: I guess that means you've been thinking about our kiss.
J: Of course. And also your thoughts on how things went. You left so suddenly I couldn't even think to ask.
K: I didn't want to overwhelm you. You looked like one more second would have you pass out.
J: I would not have passed out. I'm not that sensitive.
K: I'll keep that in mind when I kiss you again.
J: What did you think of how it went?
K: You were clearly out of practice but nothing too serious. You'll be much more comfortable next time.
J: And the rest of the date? Any thoughts?
K: I would like a repeat performance as soon as I return. You choose the spot this time.
J: Thank goodness. I don't think I could go another date there without breaking something.
K: We don't have to go back now that I know I don't need to impress you.
J: Perfect. And when will you be back again?
K: In a few weeks. Will you be able to wait?
J: I'll get by somehow.
K: You don't sound like you miss me that much.
J: Believe me. I'm planning out all the work I can grab to keep me distracted until you return.
K: How many times have you thought about our kiss today?
J: Too many times.
K: Is there such a thing as too much?
J: More than is decent after only one date.
K: What would you consider to be decent?
J: Maybe 20 times?
K: You've thought about it more than 20 times?
J: MUCH more.
K: And how was it?
J: I thought it was wonderful.
K: Not exactly a glowing endorsement.
J: I'm trying not to look like a gushing idiot here.
K: I'd like to see some gushing. I do have an ego.
J: Well I can safely say it was up there on the list for the best kiss I've ever had.
K: I'll have to up my game if I'm going to be the best kiss.
J: You were very close.
K: Damn.
J: I have a feeling you'll exceed it the next time.
K: I hope so. My poor ego won't be able to take another blow like that.
J: You have an ego? Shame. You were so modest on our date.
K: And you're much bolder over texts than you are when you're in front of me.
J: Of course. It's a lot easier to be less nervous when I don't have my physical reactions or the other person to freak me out.
K: I don't like it as much. I don't get to see you blush over your own boldness.
J: I prefer it this way. At least until I'm comfortable enough around you to be like this in person.
K: As long as I never lose your blushes, I'm happy.
J: I don't think I could ever fully stop those around you.
K: Does my boldness make you nervous?
J: I'm surprised you feel you even have to ask.
K: Does it make you nervous to hear that I'm attracted to you?
J: Yes.
K: A good nervous, I'm sure.
J: I think it is.
K: I hope it isn't a bad nervous.
J: Only a little bad. That's my own paranoia though.
K: My poor little flower child.
J: I did warn you of my trust issues.
K: You're still my poor little flower child.
J: I appreciate the sunflowers. They brightened my mood. Jack took a selfie of himself sniffing a sunflower and sent it to him.
K: I'm glad. I unfortunately couldn't find any Queen of the Andes, so I went with the next best thing.
J: I don't know what I'd do with one even if you could so I guess it all works out.
K: Sunflowers are a little more easier to transport to your place.
J: And easier to take care of.
K: Where will you display them?
J: My dining room table.
K: Nope. Try again.
J: Window?
K: Nope.
J: Where would you like me to display them?
K: Next to your bed.
J: I can't tell if you're saying that to be romantic or so you can feel like you're in my bed.
K: Whichever won't offend you.
J: I'll stick with my romantic image of you.
K: Perfect.
J: And I'll send you another pic of them in my room when I get home later.
K: Please do. I'd like to see how they look.
J: How is your trip?
K: Not exactly how I would like to be spending my time right now.
J: Are you missing a certain florist you've recently taken a liking to?
K: I am. I'm missing him terribly.
J: In hindsight, it might have been better to wait for a first date until AFTER you come back from a big trip.
K: Why? Now you know how good my kisses can be. This will give you time to think about it. Build up the anticipation.
J: It would have saved us both pining while we wait to see each other again.
K: I'd like to think you're pining for me.
J: I am. I liked your company, and now I can't see you again for weeks.
K: That just means you'll be happier when you do see me again.
J: Will you come by the shop when you get back?
K: Probably not.
J: Why not?
K: Places to go, people to see.
J: Wow. And here I thought you'd like to see me.
K: I'm kidding. You know there's no one I want to see more than you.
J: I look forward to your return :) it'll be weird not having my favorite customer coming in all the time.
K: I can order 20 dozen roses if that'll help.
J: That definitely does not help. I have nowhere to deliver them and nowhere to store them.
K: Then I suppose I'll just have to return sooner in order to collect them.
J: You don't have to cut your trip short just for that. You can order all the flowers you want when you get back.
K: Does it make you nervous, trying to figure out how to handle me?
J: A little. You're not like anyone I've ever gone out with before.
K: How so?
J: No one has been as open as you are.
K: Am I open?
J: You were on our date. I'm not used to it so I'm not too sure how to handle it.
K: I know what I want. You've dated boys up until now, unsure of what they want for you and from life. Now you're dating a man.
J: Oh. I see. Can you please elaborate on the perks of dating a man over dating boys? I've obviously never dated one so I don't know what to expect.
K: I'm going to be blunt with you. You'll know my feelings, my desires, what I want, what I don't. We're past the point of playing games.
J: Sounds like it'll be impossible to misunderstand you. I think that would be nice.
K: I bet your past boyfriends left you doubting what they wanted and when they wanted it. I won't be so coy.
J: Many times. A few of them were ended because I misunderstood what it was they wanted.
K: You won't have any misunderstandings with what I want.
J: Perfect. It'll be nice not having to always be looking for the underlying motive.
K: And you'll never have to doubt my desire for you.
J: Are there any downsides to dating you? So far I'm not seeing any.
K: I'm a very sexual person. Very demanding.
J: That could run as either a pro or a con. I hope it won't be the latter.
K: Please define both for me.
J: It could potentially lead to amazing sex, or you could want more than I can provide.
K: What are you willing to provide?
J: You'll have to wait and see for yourself.
K: Now who's playing coy?
J: Is it too much for you handle?
K: I find your genuine coyness to be refreshing.
J: Enough to get you stick around?
K: I'd like to see where this leads.
J: Me too :)
K: If we were having this conversation in person, I'd lean in and kiss you now.
J: I hope you'll save it for me for when you get back.
K: That'll be quite a few kisses I owe you.
J: It'll make our second date more interesting.
K: I think we'll be spending a little more time kissing than before.
J: I'm hoping so.
K: Perhaps our next date should be a little more intimate. Maybe dinner at my place?
J: Sorry. You said I get to pick the next date. Plus if we do it at your place it'll be too tempting to break your probation period.
K: So you've already been tempted to break it.
J: I've already told you I thought you were good-looking. Of course I'd be tempted.
K: I'll have to step up my tempting game.
J: I'd rather you not.
K: Oh?
J: I told you I don't like to sleep with someone until I'm sure I really know them.
K: You're making it sound as if you're barely holding on to that probation period.
J: Just because it's tempting to break it doesn't mean I should.
K: I'm sure I could make you break it, but I won't. I'll respect your probation period.
J: I'm glad. I don't think I could keep dating you if you didn't respect it.
K: And we don't want that, do we?
J: I know I don't.
K: And I certainly don't.
J: That's nice to hear. I'd hate it if I were the only one.
K: I know.
J: I hate to say this, but I should probably get back to doing actual work now.
K: I'll let you go. Don't get into any trouble, flower child.
J: Same goes for you. Enjoy your trip.
K: I will. See you soon.
J: Talk to you later :)
K: Talk to you later, flower child.
