I just got done watching Grand Hotel! Boy, what a rollercoaster! Really great plot, really beautiful love story (though there's quite a bit of scandal, so I endured that bull for the sake of the excellent murder mysteries and heroic story arcs. But if immortality is not your cup of tea, skip it. I personally hated how they represented catholicism. Like dudes don't act all Christian then commit a mortal sin the next day, acting like its no biggy as long as you're not caught! Like, if you believe in God, you know He's WATCHING! Ugh. But I digress, it is definitely more focussed on the mystery plots, and the character development, and I really did love the main couple (it helped that the main guy was super attractive. A real hero.) Normally I don't watch dramas. My mother convinced me, though. It's her favorite show. So, I wrote a poem about it for her. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Grand Hotel

Crossing All the Lines

Trapped in a world with so many rules

A world that plays all the honest as fools

A place where life is all arranged

And it is believed that destiny can not be changed

Everyone has their intended roles

The servers sell their dignity, and the leaders sell their souls

A place where love can not grow

Where truth is only in the know

The lines between the chosen and the rest

Where the poor are grateful, and the ungrateful are blessed

but in this dark and confining place

Fortune would smile upon one's face

A person of character, poor but determined

Braved this place crawling with vermin

To all that were important, he was a nobody

Every rule dictated who he should be

Yet he broke each rule; side stepped each sign

That he was going the wrong way and should resign

He slyly avoided the eyes of the lawmakers

While unveiling the plots that proved they were lawbreakers

He said, "I matter." And he was told no one would hear

But someone for once had an open ear

As he rose from the destiny assigned to him at birth

She descended from hers, shortening the girth

He looked and saw an angel

She looked and saw the same

He saw someone he would love

She saw an escape from the world above

Though he was dirty and she was clean

She was delicate, and he was lean

They were drawn together by forces unknown

Forces determined to destroy the rules shown

He wanted to free her, and she wanted to be free

He wanted to see her, and she wanted to see

Then she saw him oh so clear

And knew something akin to fear

For now, she loved him as much as he did her

A love that no lines or rules could deter

They tried to deny it

They tried to run away

To adhere to the rules

But their love was there to stay

And so a poor boy loved an angel

Though she claimed that it was she who loved an angel

For she lived among monsters; demons she couldn't expel

And the purest thing that has entered her life

So selfless and sure and weathering of any strife

Was the love he offered and the heart he gave

The kindness in his eyes and the smile so brave

Both were strong; both were honest and just

No matter how they denied, their gravitation was a must

He was strong when she was trapped

She was strong when he was lost

When either one couldn't pay the price

The other would simply ask the cost

They defied all odds and crossed all lines

They broke their cages and all other confines

They saved the lives and saved the day

Then they revealed their secret and ran away

They lived happily ever after

All smiles, joy, and so much laughter

A child was born of their love

Proving marriage fit them like a glove
