Kanji's POV
"Demolition Fist!"
I shot a punch out towards Kyouka making her jump back onto a nearby wall, her large talon like feet enabled her to grip the wall and hold on at an odd angle.
"Lightning Dragon Laser Eyes!"
She sliced through my attack but it left and opening for Erza to slide in and attack. She traded her slashes with Kyouka's claws but the demon shot off a blade of wind by slicing the air with her claws.
Erza jumped back and landed next to me "She's strong."
"Well then we'll just have to be stronger." I smirked "Let's go!"
Erza and I went back to fighting, and for some reason my heart felt weak…
Scruff's POV
Having left the base of Tartarus with a clutch assist from Kage and Laki we moved on to the nearby cave where FACE was supposed to be located.
"We're going way down." I observed as we descended deeper and deeper.
"That's all I've got." Carla said landing.
"Thanks, we made it." Miss Wendy said holding her.
"There's a tunnel over here." I pointed out "Probably the best place to start since we don't know what we're actually looking for."
"We'll have to sense for the magic." Miss Wendy said "Let me, the air is nice here so cool yet warm."
"EWW BUGS!" she suddenly yelled.
Wendy batted a cricket off herself as we walked.
"The air…" I mumbled taking a sniff.
Wait a second…
"Get down!"
I changed forms, grabbed Miss Wendy and pull her away. Something crashed to the ground behind us, some sort of huge octopus.
"Tartarus." I observed taking out my Ring Blade.
"Why does that wench always give me the shit jobs." The demon grumbled.
"He must be the one who turned on FACE." Miss Wendy said.
"RAHHH!" the monster charged after us and we decided for the moment running was the best option.
"We don't have the time to fight him." Miss Wendy yelled "What should we do."
"We might not have the time together…" I said turning around and sliding "But I have plenty to spare myself!"
"Scruff!"
"Go and take out that bomb!" I yelled spinning my blade around "I'll deal with this guy!"
"But-."
"GO!"
Miss Wendy ran off and I stood in the demon's way.
"Now it's just some dumb cat…"
"Underestimating me will be your downfall." I said dashing forward and slashing at him with my ring.
He lifted up one of his tentacles and blocked my sword with a sword, his body was able to harden into blades.
"You don't want me holding back huh?!" he smiled "I'll slice you into mincemeat!"
"Paw Driver!"
I pushed up with my hands and kicked the demon in the face.
"Pathetic!" he yelled crossing his arms "Onimura!"
With just a flick of his limbs this demon sliced a massive gash in the wall.
"Damn that was close." I said grabbing my hat "Good thing I can change forms."
"Discus!" I shifted back and threw the ring blade at the octopus but he swatted it away
"HA!" I grabbed it and went back at him.
I slammed into his tentacle but he just blocked me.
*SHHHHA!"
I saw a crack form and then my weapon split in two.
NO!
"Die cat!"
"GAHHHH!"
I was slammed into and thrown back. The demon slithered over to me and started laying into my with a flurry of tendrils.
So this is it…I'm gonna die…
"Writhe in suffering you piece of crap." The demon said wandering off "Now where'd that runt go to?"
I'm…a failure…I couldn't save Miss Wendy…I failed…my mission…
…
…
"Scruff make sure she gets there."
"NO!" I pulled myself off the floor "I refuse to give up!"
I grabbed the fragments of my ring and put them away. I screeched down the tunnel and found that demon going after Wendy. Her hair was cut and she looked beat up.
"My magic won't make a dent!" she said in terror.
"Die brat!"
"RAHHH!" I jumped on the demon's back and bit on his neck.
"What the fuck?!"
"HRAA!" I clawed at his back.
"Get off of me!"
The demon swung his tentacle towards Miss Wendy.
"GAH!"I jumped around front and grabbed it "BAH!"
I coughed up some blood.
"You're really pissing me off." The octopus growled at me.
"Scruff…you're hurt." Miss Wendy said.
"Get…out of here." I panted "I can only hold him…for a few more minutes…so hurry!"
I looked behind me and saw that Wendy had found FACE with Carla, now she just had to shut it down.
"I should have just put you in the ground before." The octopus hissed "I'll kill you for real this time!"
He swung at me but I duck under and punched him in the jaw.
"I might not have a blade…but I won't stop fighting till I can't breathe! My Honor as a knight keeps me moving forward, and I won't let you interfere with Miss Wendy!"
"Can't breathe huh? HAHAHA WHAT A GREAT IDEA!" the monster yelled wrapping a tentacle around my neck.
"KABLAHGH!" I squirmed around struggling to breath.
"Give up, you've lost!"
I tried to reach out but I couldn't do it…I simply had no strength left. Everything got so blurry and even thinking seemed to hurt.
I did it…I protected her till the very end…Sir.
"AHHHH!" a gust of wind rushed past, it felt so warm…so kind…
I struggled to look through my blurry, eyes.
"Miss…Wendy…?"
This feeling…is like the one from the two boys in Sabertooth…Dragon Force.
In this form Wendy was so fast, so quick and precise. The fight suddenly went from a struggle to a one-sided stomp.
The timer…
"I'll finish it with this!" Miss Wendy said crossing her arms "Shattering Light: Sky Drill!"
A blast of wind through the octopus back.
"Now it's getting exciting!" the demon changed from "Slayer Mode!"
Couldn't even push him to get serious…
"There is nothing I can't cut, not even the air itself!" the demon roared slicing apart Wendy's attack.
Wendy looked to be charging up and attack, but the demon was getting so close.
"She…just needs more time…" I hissed picking up a piece of my broken blade "HAAAA!"
I threw the piece forward and clunked the monster in the side of the head with a fragment of the blade.
"You again?!"
"It's over!" Miss Wendy yelled.
The wind rippled and a huge tornado formed and blasted the demon through the bomb.
It's…over…
I was so weak…I had bled so much…I had nothing left, but to close my eyes and hope for everyone else's victory. For some reason the air felt different.
"Made it…just in time."
Kanji's POV
"Why are you running away?!" Erza yelled as our opponent just decided to leave.
"I have something to take care of, I'm leaving this to you…destroy the fairies!"
"Yes."
That voice…
"We meet again, Erza."
"Minerva!"
"I am Neo-Minerva." The woman said "I have been born again as a demon and will destroy you with my power."
"Erza." I whispered "Can you take this one, I'm going after Kyouka."
"Alright." Erza said "I'll make you an opening."
"GO!"
Erza blocked Minerva and I managed to turn into lightning and slip behind her to get into the hallway and chase after Kyouka.
