Kanji's POV
I chased Kyouka down the halls of the Tartarus base but it didn't take me long to lose track of her in the maze-like building.
"Static Resonator!"
I kicked the floor "There…"
I tip toed after her, finding the bird demon woman in a throne like room, talking to some man on a large chair. I slid behind a pillar and hid from view.
"King of Hades, Mard Geer."
He must be the big shot here.
"The enemy is far more powerful than we anticipated FACE Failed, and Franmalth and Ezel have been defeated."
"Seilah and Hell's Core as well." The man responded.
"What?!" Kyouka gasped "Then we have to wake Master."
"That is impossible." Mard Geer responded "We do not have enough curse power to resurrect him, we still need to remove magical power from this blasted country."
"But the FACE failed."
"You still don't see it, the bigger picture." The man mumbled "That is but a point…"
"A point?"
"Mard Geer is the greatest tactician." The man told Kyouka "When you look from above the destruction of FACE is but a small step in my plan, magic will still vanish from this world."
"I don't understand." Kyouka said.
"Kyouka what are we?"
"A person infused with the power form the book of Zeref…a demon, an Etherious."
"And our goal?"
"To revive Master E.N.D and return to Lord Zeref's side." She said.
"And what are humans?"
"They are…nothing more than bugs." She responded.
"Hehehe…"
The walls ripped open and thorny tendrils flew out and snagged Kyouka.
"GAHHHH! Mard Geer…why?!"
"You captured the humans and played with them like toys." He explained.
"It was to obtain pertinent information."
"It appears you still maintain some of your humanity." Mard Geer sighed.
"No that's not true!"
"Mard Geer is utterly disgusted by this situation, to think one of his subordinates would waste time playing with a human female, this will be your punishment, for making Mard Geer feel disgust." The man said tightening his thorns.
"Yes sir…I understand."
"Also Kyouka." He sighed.
The pillar I was hiding behind shattered and a tendril tore through.
"In the future do not track dirt into my room." He said.
"Arcing Bolt!"
I shot a lightning at the man but he only leaned his head to the side and avoided it. He twirled his finger and sent another vine at me. I jolted in and out of it before getting up close for a punch.
Can you hear me, Mira's fine she's with us.
Warren…Mira's okay that's good.
"Don't touch me human." He said calmly batting me away and trying to twist me up with vines.
"Lightning Dragon Roar!"
"A Dragon Slayer?" he hummed raising a wall that easily intercepted me attack "You've wasted my time."
The floor tore open and I was tied up in thorns before I could react.
"Now then, let's see how you humans react to this." Mard Geer placed two fingers on his head and my head was filled with a terrible static noise.
"The wizarding guild Fairy Tail correct?" Mard spoke to me and the guild via telepathy "I am the King of Hades, Mard Geer but you don't need to bother remembering that since you won't have a chance to use it."
"Alegria."
I looked around, the walls wiggled and became almost fleshy, like they were the insides of something.
"What did you do?!" I yelled.
"Mard Geer." Kyouka said "If you do that, then even our soldiers-"
"Will be what, corroded? Sacrificed?" Mard Geer walked towards me "Humans,so full of hopes and dreams, what fools, this Cube it is nothing but a prison, the inside of my Plutogrim."
"WHAT?!" I gasped.
We were inside a living thing?
"It will suck in each and every member of your guild." He looked at me stone faced "Since you are suspended by my thorns…you seem to have been spared, how odd."
"Heh." I smirked at him.
"What could possibly be so amusing?" he asked "Your loved ones are dead, you should by weeping like the pathetic human you are?"
"Don't you feel it that magic still in the air, because it ain't mine." I said "Or can demons not sense magic?"
"Ah…it seems one person was able to escape the odds of that are astronomical, 1 in a billion. Is it good luck or bad luck that she was spared."
Mard waved his hand and a series of lacrima screens appeared.
"Lucy." I mumbled.
Please be careful…
"The intruders have been eliminated the FACE plan can go on as scheduled. Although it seems one human was able to escape, I will give one of the open Demon gate positions to the one who kills her."
"LUCY RUN!"
I was forced to sit there and watch as the room Lucy was in filled with water. I squirmed and struggled against the bindings to try and break free and go help her. Lucy used her spirits to fight back but some bunny girl and a lizard like demon got the upper hand on her and Virgo. Loke came to help but compared to demons, spirits were just no match.
She can't keep two open forever!
"RAHHH!" I screamed struggling with the bindings.
"Humans are such feeble creatures." Mard Geer commented "Why do they care for each other so, feelings like Love and Companionship, they disgust Mard Geer."
"When I get free." I glared at him "I'll fry you."
"Kyouka." Mard Geer released him "Go and assist Jackal and the others with the job of dispatching that human."
"Yes sir.
"You…" I mumbled as she walked passed "I'll make you crash to the ground."
She looked at me and kept walking.
"I hope you know he'll be here before long." I spoke up.
That stopped her.
"I know he's coming…to put an end to you both and he won't care what happens to himself. As long as he frees you."
"Shut up." she said walking off "I'll tear that man to pieces…this is his fault."
And with that she vanished.
"Oh my, it appears Kyouka will be too late, the girl seems to be finished."
I looked at the screen.
"Stupid brat…" the one demon stalked over.
"Lucy why, you can't…do all three." I mumbled.
Why did she summon Aquarius that's too much for her?
"RAHHHH!"
Aquarius whipped the water up and started throwing demons around. But even that, Lucy's strongest spirit…wasn't enough. The demons broke through and beat her and Aquarius to a pulp.
I tried to help…I wanted to so badly…but as I struggled my bindings only grew tighter.
Is this it, I'm gonna have to sit here and watch my friend die…I feel so helpless so pathetic…I CAN'T DO ANYTHING!
I could hear the sound on the screen. Aquarius had returned and she told Lucy how to have everyone, she needed to summon the Spirit King.
But to do that she had to break one of the keys she held most dear.
"No…Lucy don't…please don't…" I said in shock.
"This level of magic." Mard Geer paused "What are you doing?!"
I have to get free…I can't let her do it!
"LUCYYYYYY!"
And like that…the air went still everything got quiet…and the only thing I could hear was Lucy crying.
I couldn't do it…
It's always like this…I couldn't save Laxus…I let them take Mira and Erza…and now…Lucy lost the thing most dear to her…and it's all my fault…all…my fault…
IT'S MY FAULT…I can't protect anyone…
The vines holding me snapped as the whole building was shaken. I looked up and saw the roof rip open and a giant man in armor stood before me.
"What are you scheming." The big guy asked Mard Geer.
"Celestial Spirit King haven't you noticed, we are going to resurrect E.N.D and return to Zeref's side."
"Is that the reason my old friend is lying beaten on the floor…the reason she is shedding tears?" he asked.
Lucy I couldn't…save you…
"Yes."
"Then I will annihilate her enemy. I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!"
The fight was incredible, brilliant flashes of starlight and darkness. Everything around the two was crumbling…heaven and hell were clashing right before my eyes I had to keep moving just to avoid getting squashed by the collapsing pillars and walls.
But even the Spirit King wasn't a match for Mard Geer.
Just how powerful is this guy…can we even win?
"This is the end for you!" Mard Geer called out.
"Not if I destroy you first!" the Spirit King lifted his sword "Galaxia Blade!"
"This is all I can do, I will leave the protection of my Old Friend to you…you will be the demise of these demons" the old man said glancing back at me.
"Yes Sir!" I said jolting off while I had an opening.
I want to check on Erza…but right now I need to save Lucy!
I ran as fast as I could but even with my lighting I had a large distance to cover.
"Lucy!" I saw that lizard guy getting close.
I'm not gonna make it!
"HRRAHHH!"
The arm blade was blocked by an iron skin.
"Gajeel…"
Everyone else is free…
"Impossible how the hell are you alive?!"
"Hmm?"
A dark black mist gathered around Gajeel and a man who looked more like a skeleton appeared.
"Water Nebula!"
The mist was splashed back by Juvia's attack.
"Freeze girl!"
"Not a chance!"
Two large walls of ice were erected and Gray interfered with a man who had a strange aura.
I'm still far off…I need to speed up!
"Blondie!"
The rabbit girl form earlier jumped from the ceiling and went to try and kick Lucy's head off.
"Stay back! Buzz Saw!"
A shield bounced through and bashed the demon girl in the head.
"Michelle!"
*FWOOSH!*
I looked up and a blast of fire and lighting was barreling towards the others.
"Natsu! Kanji! Clear me a path!"
I looked over and saw Natsu running forward.
"Here we go!"
We each pulled our respective element out of the way.
"Sun Dragon Style: Backflip Chin Kick!"
A beam of light shot out and Lauren appeared and caught the fire breather under the chin, pushing him back as she flipped through the air and landed next to everyone.
"Lucy…" I walked up to her.
I'm so sorry…
I picked up the broken pieces of her key and placed them in her hands but I did it so no one saw.
They'd only pity her…This was my fault for being weak…my failure…not hers.
"I'll take it from here." I whispered "You did…so much Lucy."
Lucy was scooped up by red hair and I saw Flare pulling her over.
"Leave her to me…" she nodded.
"I'm not sure what happened." Natsu said "But I get the feeling Lucy just saved our asses."
"Seems like all the strong ones have gathered." Michelle pointed out.
"I feel kind bad for breaking that one's chin he's kinds handsome, for a demon." Lauren smirked.
"I'm pretty fired up." Natsu laughed
"I'm not in the mood for jokes…" I growled stomping forward "Because I'm not just fired up…I'M FUCKING FURIOUS!"
I heard a loud boom of thunder as a storm gathered over head.
"What the heck!?"
"What is that?!"
"Kanji…" Lauren gasped "You…"
