It had been 5 years since the kyuubi had appeared and its imprisonment at the hands of Minato Namikaze better known as the Yondaime Hokage. With his final words to his closest friend, Ryoku was asked to look after his widowed wife and son. Ryoku had moved both Kushina and the newly born Naruto into his compound where both mother and son were protected by the numerous Dragon summonings that guard the perimeter both above and below.
Over the years, Ryoku had been gathering resources such as weapons and jutsu scrolls so that when the time came, he would leave the world to better protect the two. He's even gathered blood samples from various bloodline holders and injected them into Naruto, saying that he would help train Naruto to learn to control his newly acquired powers, something that Kushina didn't like, but understood when he told her of what's to come when his plan comes to fruition. Ryoku even went as far as to steal the bijuu from their current jinchuuriki and reseal them into Naruto. In doing so, Naruto had awakened a Kekkei Genkai that Ryoku himself hadn't seen since the time of the Sage of the Six Paths; the legendary Rinnegan. Although, he had taken the ex-jinchuuriki from Takigakure no Sato because her own parents abandoned her, so he took her in and introduced her to both Kushina and Naruto. Another person that Ryoku took in was a surviving member of the Yuki Clan, a girl by the name of Haku who had lost both her parents; her father killed her mother and she killed her own father via self-defense.
Ryoku even stole the 7 swords from Kirigakure no Sato and the 5 sacred treasures of the sage from their hidden location in Kumogakure no Sato and replaced them with duplicates. Ryoku also paid a visit to Uzushiogakure no Sato and acquired everything from scrolls to weapons and to the masks from their shrine. Because he knew that the items from his allied clan should be kept away from those who'd misuse them for their own purposes, something that Kushina agreed too.
When Naruto reached three years of age, Ryoku had begun to train the boy as well as the two girls in the shinobi ways first by accessing their chakra; for Haku it was above average chunin because of her bloodline, for Fuu being a former jinchuuriki was elite jounin level while for Naruto it was massive even without the 9 bijuu inside of him. When Naruto accessed his chakra, Ryoku grabbed the girls and had to use chakra to hold himself down from the sheer force of the chakra that was gushing out of Naruto's body. When Ryoku began to teach the children the chakra exercise, the three took to it like fish to water which was astonishing for someone so young, they had mastered the Tree-Climbing exercise on the same week they perfected the Water- Walking exercise and the Leaf Balancing exercise. Both Kushina and Ryoku could tell that young Naruto was a true prodigy in the making, but made sure not to push Naruto since he was still so young.
During her stay in the Tatsumori compound, Kushina could clearly see how close her son and Ryoku had gotten over the years. If it weren't for her sons' blonde hair, people would've mistaken Naruto for being Ryoku's son. The two were almost inseparable and what made it more apparent, was when Naruto started to speak, he had called Ryoku 'papa', when Naruto said those words, her heart sank in knowing that Minato would never hear his son say those words to him and it made her feel guilty when Ryoku told Naruto that he didn't deserve to be called such since he failed to save his friend.
Over time, Kushina had gotten over Minato's death and moved on, but knew that no one would replace Minato, but wanted someone to be there for both her and her son. She then sees how Ryoku interacts with not just Naruto, but with the two girls he brought home from his travels throughout the elemental nations. Upon this she realize that Ryoku had always been at her side from her time in Uzushiogakure to her transfer to Konoha, he has been her shoulder to cry on when she learned that her clan was destroyed in the last war, to supporting her through her endeavors, to being her protector when the kyuubi was sealed inside of her, to being the one who walked her down the aisle and giving her to Minato. Through thick and thin, for better or for worse, Ryoku has always been by her side and if she was completely honest with herself, she was happier with him than with Minato, so when she married Minato a part of her was crying that she had abandoned the one person that to her was more than a friend.
Now that Minato was gone, she could pursue a relationship with her longtime friend, and so she approached him and asked him out. At first he wasn't sure since she was still mourning over her loss, but over time he agreed and the two hit it off very well and the two got married a year later.
Now here we find Ryoku with Kushina and her now 5 year old son while the girls; Fuu and Haku flank her, while she carries Naruto. Ryoku had just finished sealing away his compound and was now standing on top of a very complex teleportation seal. As Ryoku was going through a series of hand seals, Kushina was watching over the children so that they didn't get separated, while also ensuring that nothing went wrong.
"Ryoku-kun are you sure about this?" she asked with worry.
"Kushina-chan, you and I both know that the council has been harassing us to relinquish Naruto to them to be made into a weapon and condone him to a life of pain and suffering. The same can easily be said about the other nations. This is the best chance of a life for him… for all of us" he said as he finished the last hand seal.
"Fūinjutsu: Jikūkan Ninjutsu- Jigen gētou~ei ryokō" (Sealing art: space time ninjutsu- dimensional gateway travel) Ryoku said as a tear in the fabric of space appeared in front of Ryoku.
"Let's go Kushina. That massive chakra spike would have alerted every shinobi in the village" he said, getting his wife and the children to make a break for the portal.
As they neared the portal, they noticed a squad of blank masked anbu heading their way. Ryoku, seeing this, performed a henge no jutsu (Transformation technique) to transform himself into a dark blue eastern dragon with black spikes running down from its head all the way to its tail. The transformed shinobi then got in front of the shinobi then let out a mighty roar sending the anbu back.
"Go Kushina I'll stall them long enough for you to get through" the dragon said in a deep voice, just before his mouth lit up and shot a jet of blue fire.
"H-hai Ryoku-kun, Come on children" she said, getting the children to quicken their step.
Ryoku then turned to the ROOT attack force and growled "you will never get past me you mindless drones" he said as he shot another blast of white fire at the attackers.
As Ryoku was keeping the ROOT shinobi occupied, Kushina while carrying Naruto, Fuu and Haku ran through the portal and came out the other side, only to see a clearing and a lush forest around the forest. Kushina then turned back to the portal hoping that her husband makes it through safely 'please make it through Ryoku-koi' Kushina that as she stared at the portal.
A Few Minutes Ago
Trudging cautiously through the large and lush forest of Paradise Island was a small herd of wild deer searching for a new grazing ground. The last one they occupied was lost to them when a vicious and hungry panther suddenly attacked and killed a number of their kin without warning, effectively forcing the survivors to flee the territory they once proudly roamed. Now miles away from their feline tormentor, the wild boars walked the forest floors completely unaware that they've been targeted by new predators.
Observing the small group of elegant beasts from a respectable distance were two figures that stood undetectable thanks to the cloak of darkness the forest provided for them. "Remember your lessons, daughter," The taller of the two figures whispered, her tone was hushed enough to escape the boars' ears. "When it comes to hunting, what you must value over all others is patience. Now draw your weapon my child and prepare to secure tonight's meal." The woman speaking was none other than Hippolyta, the Queen of Themyscira; a city that was built in the middle of Paradise Island by a race of immortal Amazons.
Normally during such an early time in the day, the immortal queen could be found occupying her throne room or greeting her subjects/sisters on the streets of Themyscira but today instead of attending her royal responsibility she decided to spend some bonding time with her daughter, Diana by teaching her how to properly hunt.
Thanks to some lessons from Themyscira top archer, Artemis, the young Princess was far from being an amateur with the bow. Lifting her bow and arrow with practiced ease, Diana trained one of her sharp blue eyes on the biggest wild boar.
"Be sure to keep your shoulders high, you're back straight and a keen eye focused on your target."
"Yes, mother."
"When drawing your arrow be sure to apply just the right amount of pressure."
"Yes, mother."
Gracing her little huntress with a prideful smile, Hippolyta lightly placed a supporting hand on Diana's shoulder, she knew her little warrior was already very proficient with a bow and arrow thanks to Artemis' training but her motherly instincts couldn't stop her from sprouting pieces of advice. "Hm, I must be quite the bother, I'm sorry, Diana just showed me what Artemis has taught you."
Suppressing the urge to roll her eyes in annoyance, the young Princess uttered a final "Yes, mother." Diana began pulling back on the arrow's drawstring with intent her metal and missile at one of the unsuspecting hairy beasts. "One shot, One Kill." The princess said quietly to herself, according to Artemis' never ending lectures, that was the right state of mind to be in when one is wielding a bow.
As Diana finally released the arrow from the bow, almost simultaneously, an unnaturally loud noise that neither of the Amazons could recognize tore the air as something massive past above the mother and child effectively blocking out the sun for a few brief seconds. Before either mother or daughter could begin speculating about what just flew over them the two found themselves struggling to stay upright as a violent tremor shook the ground and another loud noise echoed throughout the forest. However, unlike the first sound that interrupted their hunting trip the two royalties were able to compare this sound to something large crashing and according to the volume it wasn't far away.
"By Hera, what was that!?" A shocked Diana yelled as she looked to her mother for an answer.
Hippolyta, facing in the direction of where the unnaturally loud sound originated from, withdrew the sword that hung from her waist and moved closer to her daughter. "I don't know, daughter. But I intend to find out." Now with her mind focused on herself-given mission, the Queen was prepared to investigate the disturbance but stop for a moment to address her daughter. "Diana, you must stay here."
"What? Mother you can't be serious" the raven haired princess said in a hushed whisper.
"I'm very serious Diana!" Hippolyta said in a steel tone. "There might very well be danger up ahead and I'll be damned if I allow you to put my daughter in any danger" she said.
"And for that reason I shall accompany you, Mother!" Diana shot back, as a proud Themysciran the princess found the idea of being asked to stay behind was equal to being insulted.
"Just like you and my sisters, I too was born a warrior and deserve to be treated as one." From the moment of her birth, Diana was destined to be a warrior like no other thanks to the enchanted the Gods and Goddess of Olympus saw fit to bless her with. Even at her young age, Diana was more than a match for the most battle tested Amazon; her speed was impressive, her strength was great and her wit was years beyond her age. No matter what trail was placed in front of her, Diana never failed to prove her worth; swords, spears, bows, hand to hand combat and so many other things. Diana had long since proved she was a more than capable fighter; it was something everyone on Themyscira acknowledged about their Princess.
"You're still a child!" Hippolyta rebutted, she knew her argument wasn't fair and Diana was more than capable of fighting by her side, should the need arise, But the Queen's motherly side wanting nothing more than to keep her precious child far from danger.
"And a Themysciran just like you!" Diana shot back.
After a few moments of silence between the two, Hippolyta finally relented, this disagreement was taking up too much time and she needed to leave now. "Very well, but you are to stay a fair distance away." Her compromise was delivered in a no nonsense tone. Once she received a nod of agreement from her daughter, the Warrior Queen, with Diana trailing behind, began making her way through the forest to investigate what was responsible for bringing their hunting trip to a grinding halt.
As the two grew closer and closer to the source of the disturbance they came across a startling sight; where once stood tall trees, berry bushes and an array of exotic flowers was now replaced with what appeared to be a tear and standing not to far from said tear was a woman with three children two girls and boy. Before the mother-daughter duo could advance a large figure emerged from the portal. The figure was large blue who then turned to the portal and brought its hands to the sides of the portal and started to close it.
"Great Hera… what is going on?!" Diana asked with a mix of confusion, fascination and fear.
With the Family
Ryoku had just emerged from the portal and turned to the portal in the hopes to close it "Kushina… as I close the portal keep the children safe… I don't know what'll happen as soon as this portal is closed?!" he said as he struggled to close the portal, but knew that as long as this portal remained open, then this world wouldn't be safe and neither would they. As Ryoku stared into the portal he can see Root ANBU making the trip through "sorry, but no pawns allowed Fire Dragon Style: Dragon Fire Breathe" the dragon said as he opened his maw and shot a power stream of white fire incinerating the foolish Root ANBU who tried to follow. As this was happening, Ryoku was closing the portal and knew that the same was happening on the other side as he designed the seal to work in that fashion.
Kushina and children
Kushina and the children watched as the man/ dragon that became such an important figure in their lives was trying so hard to keep them safe. Naruto in particular watched his step-father and hero being transfixed on what was going on "mama…" the young boy called to his mom.
"Yes honey?" Kushina asked.
"Dad is amazing isn't he?" Naruto said with admiration to his father.
"Yes… yes he is" she answered.
Ryoku
As Ryoku brought the two sides of the portal closer and closer, it was becoming more and more difficult to multitask as closing the portal and keeping those on the other side at bay was becoming too taxing, and there was another problem… he's been in his dragon-form for too long and knew that he ran the risk of losing his human form as did most of his clan and once that happens… he'd be forced to return to Dragon Realm, so in mustering all of his strength, he finally closed the portal, but once that happened it released a powerful shock was that blew the surrounding trees away, Kushina with her quick thinking used her Chakra chains to create a makeshift bunker to protect herself and the children whereas Diana and Hippolyta were forced to find cover deep in the forest.
When the smoke cleared the trees had been blown back and there was a crater in the middle (AN: Imagine what happened when Thor struck Mjolnir against Cap. America's Vibranium shield in the first Avenger's movie). Kushina released her chains and she with the children ran to the crater to see if Ryoku was alright. Upon arriving to the crater there they see Ryoku, but something was off, instead of a human form, they find that he was in dragonoid form meaning while he has a human shape, he had mostly draconic features such blue and black scales, wings, tail, sharp spines running down his back, and sharp claws on his hands and feet. (AN: imagine a human-sized Nicol Bolas with smaller horns, a bulker physical body and 5 fingers).
"Ryoku are you ok?" Kushina asked as she shook her husband. Then the children joined in to try and wake the unconscious dragonoid. The shaking started to have an effect as Ryoku's eyes fluttered and then opened to reveal two sapphire slit eyes "K-kushina-chan… is everyone alright?" Ryoku asked.
"Hai… everyone is alright… but what about you?"
Ryoku then lifted his hand and brought it to his face and was a bit surprised "so this what the elders said 'the longer the dragon form is maintained the human form is lost' they weren't kidding" Ryoku said barely phased with his new form.
"Honey what do you mean?" Kushina asked.
"The elders of my clan said that once a Tatsumori entered their dragon-form the human-form is lost and once that happens the Tatsumori is forced to leave to the Dragon Realm and are never allowed to return unless summoned" he admitted shocking everyone.
"D-does that mean you'll have to leave?" asked a now crying Naruto.
"Fortunately, the transformation was stopped midway, so I'm allowed to stay, however, the next time I transform… it'll be permanent and I'll be forced to leave" he said as he sat up. He then looked in a random direction causing everyone to look at Naruto in confusion.
"Naru-tou… is everything alright?" Fuu asked.
"We got company…" he said as he caught an arrow that was aimed at his heart surprising everyone. Kushina got into a defensive position as the children hid behind Ryoku. From the forest many women came with their bows fully drawn with arrows ready to fire. Then a blonde woman with a regal posture along with a young girl approached the family.
Who are you and why have you come to Thymiscera?" she demanded.
"Usually it's common courtesy for the first to speak to introduce themselves first" she said, not leaving her form. Ryoku, seeing this, tried to get up, but due to being tried, dropped to his knees. This made the women tighten their pull on their bows.
"How dare you show such disrespect to our queen and ruler" one of the women yelled with anger in her voice.
"That's enough Artemis, and she's right… I'm Hippolyta queen of Themyscira and leader of the Amazons, this here is my daughter Diana and to my left is my right hand Artemis now who are you?"
"My name is Kushina Uzumaki-Tatsumori, with me are my son Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze, my adopted children Fuu Tatsumori and Haku Yuki-Tatsumori and the one sitting on the ground is my husband Ryoku Tatsumori" Kushina introduced her group.
"Husband?!... a woman such as yourself married a beast?! Have you no shame?!" Artemis yelled demanding if what she heard was false.
"Grrrr…. this beast has a name mortal and I would appreciate it if you used it" Ryoku growled causing the women to stare at the dragonoid in shock.
"It spoke?!"
"And it can hear Meyye Vahdin (Foolish maidens)" Ryoku said, shocking himself and confusing everyone.
"Ryoku what was that?" Kushina asked in concern.
"So it's begun… Dovahzul or Dragon language as you joorre (Mortals) call it, this is one of the changes I would go through. Ol fin changes meyz permanent, dii suleyk wah tinvaak human wah dovah changes ol nii los nu(As the change becomes permanent my ability to speak human to dragon changes as it is now)" Ryoku spoke in a mix between his normal with his new tongue. The human turned dragonoid looked at the confused looks on their faces as sighed releasing a small bellow of smoke from his mouth.
"Hi barely understood daar nis hi? (You barely understood that couldn't you?)" he said in defeat.
"I'm sorry Ryoku-kun" Kushina tried to comfort her husband as this new form came with a language barrier, one that she was hoping to overcome. Naruto along with Fuu and Haku tried to cheer their father/ patriarch which worked as he hugged the children.
As this happy moment was going on, Artemis scowled "My lady what should we do? We'd happily accept the woman and the girls, but the man and the boy must leave" the second-in-command said, getting the family's attention.
"I'll never leave my husband or my son" Kushina argued as the mere thought of leaving the two most important males in her life was ludicrous.
Before Artemis could retort, Hippolyta raised her hand stopping her trusted general, "very well, however, given the position of your husband, we'll allow you to stay, however, you'll live on the other side of the island away from the Amazon village" the queen offered.
"Rinik pruzah, mu mindol daar island lost deserted, nuz fah daar hin hofkin, we'll thaarn hin law, ful lingrah ol hin ni threaten dii brod" (Very well, we thought this island was deserted, but since this your home, we'll obey your law, so long as you don't threatened my family) Ryoku said getting confused looks from everyone causing him to sigh in defeat.
"Why dreh zu'u orin unt?"(Why do I even try?) he muttered to himself only to get comforted by the children. Kushina looked at the scene and laughed nervously as she pitted her husband for not only having to undergo such a drastic change to his physical form, but now had a language barrier that made it difficult to try and understand, but knowing her Uzumaki blood and stubbornness she's determined to help.
As this was going on, Hippolyta along with her daughter looked at the family with a strange sense of wonder, the woman was adamant of never leaving her husbands side no matter the form he took and her son for obvious reasons, the two girls Haku and Fuu were very attached to the young blond and given that the boy looks nothing like his father it could only mean that the redheaded woman remarried the dragonoid. Diana looked that the children and realized the now she had kids her age to play with if her mother let her, and if not… we'll she was a princess with a rebel streak.
