Kage's POV

"You dummy!" Laki yell light punching my chest "You spent all our money! We can't take the train now!"

"Sorry, my suit had a hole in it and…"

"Just be quiet." She said "Just find some work and get us enough money for train tickets to the next town."

"Yes Ma'am."

"Come on Kinana let's see if we can scrounge up some jewels."

"Right!"

The girls wandered off and I trudged down the cobblestone road. The last few weeks Laki, Kinana and I had been wandering around Fiore, taking odd jobs here and there to get by. The lack of the guild was really punishing our wallets. Right now we were in the town of Clover and we were strapped for cash.

After wandering around I managed to get some work moving crates and packages around in the market. The market was full of people selling all sorts of things, food, trinkets, potions, books, you name it you could find it there.

"Hmph!" I grunted using my shadow to move a box.

Damn it really hard to get by without work at the guild…Laki and Kinana are doing their best as well but moving as group of three really stretches our budget, just moving from town to town by train is a struggle.

Since we've been journeying around Kinana has been trying to learn a little magic and Laki and I are working to strengthen our own skills so at least we can maybe get some extermination jobs.

Later

"Ugh, I'm exhausted." I sighed dropping my body on the bed in the room we were renting.

"Better rest up." Laki said "We can't afford to stay one more night."

"Why~" I whined "Didn't we scrap together enough funds."

"We got enough for tonight." Kinana said.

"We can't keep living like this, paycheck to paycheck was fine at the guild but without it…" Laki groaned.

"We just don't have the luxury of wizard money." I mumbled.

"Life's gotten hard these last few months." Kinana pouted "If the guild was still around…"

"Here drink this maybe it'll calm us down." Laki said setting down three mugs.

I took a sip and sighed "Not bad…what is it?"

"Just a bunch of herbs, spices and fruit juices mixed in a pot, nothing fancy…there's no actual proof that it will calm us down."

"So for all you know this could be poison." I sighed.

"Hahaha…" Laki mumbled "Well yeah."

"Look at it another way." Kinana said "This could be a miracle cure for all we know."

"Miracle cure…" I mumbled "That's it!"

The Next Day

"Are you sure this is gonna work." Laki whispered.

"It feels kinda wrong." Kinana sighed.

"Trust me girls our money troubles are about to be no more."

I walked up and flipped the sign on the stall.

"I'm telling you we can sell Laki concoction as an all cure and no one needs to know it's just a bunch of junk in a bottle."

"So we're just gonna lie to people." Kinana said.

"It's not lying." I said "We have no proof it won't do the things we claim. Think of it more as twisting the trust."

"So lying." Laki sighed.

"Do you wanna eat tonight or not?!"

The girls' stomach rumbled.

"Go ahead." She cheered.

"Right. Just do as we practiced okay."

I slammed my hands down on booth.

"Step on up Ladies and Gentlemen I have a deal you can't possibly refuse!" I yelled.

"Hmmm?"

"What's all that?"

Soon a fairly large crowd had formed.

"Listen to me folks don't walk away because I'm about to change your life forever!" I smiled.

"Get to the point."

"This ladies and germs." I picked up a bottle "Is a potion that can cure anything!"

"What?"

"That makes no sense!"

"But it does work folks." I said "I'm telling you the fluid in this one bottle could cure anything, cuts, bruises, broken legs, it can even give you back your youth!"

"This is ridiculous!"

"Boo!"

"Trust me!" I yelled "You there!"

I pointed at Kinana, who was standing in the crowd.

Here's hoping this works…she just has to control the magic.

"Step on up to the stage and I'll prove to you this does work."

Kinana walked up.

"What's wrong with her."

"What's that purple puss?!"

Poison from her magic…

"Just one bottle and this girl's sores will cure and she'll be the ideal courtship for any young man!"

I handed Kinana the bottle she drank it and her purple blotches vanished.

"Whoa!"

"It worked!"

"Now." I smiled at the crowd "Who wants one!"

"ME!"

"No Me first!"

Got'em.

"Step in line folks my lovely assistant will take your orders 1000 jewels per bottle, one per customer, no refunds!"

Later

"It worked!"

"Money!"

"Yay!"

We raked in a fortune on those bottles.

"So now what?" Laki asked as we ate.

"We pack up and move on to the next town." I said.

"What why?" Kinana asked.

"Two reasons, we sold to most of the town, and by tomorrow people will probably realize it didn't work. We don't want to be there when that happens."

We finished eating and headed for the train station.

"Laki you can keep mixing that stuff right."

"Sure." She smiled grabbing my arm

"And Kinana we'll be counting on you to be our plant."

"Okay."

"Well ladies." I said as we boarded the train "On to the next set of wallets."

We traveled all across Fiore, tricking people out of their money. Each day we'd move from town to town and after a while we had our own horse and carriage that we used to get around. Laki and I did the selling and pitch work and Kinana kept up her acting skills.

Yeah scamming these people felt bad, but you have to do what you have to do, no one was getting hurt, I hope.
