Chapter 4
And I did sleep. It was only for a few hours but I did sleep. I woke up and Damon is still laying with me, holding me. "How'd you sleep?" he asked. "Okay I guess. It seems to be getting better but only when you are here." I tell him before snuggling deeper under the covers. "Come on. Get a shower and meet me downstairs." he tells me. I get up and shower and get dressed before heading downstairs.
Getting downstairs, I see Caroline, Matty, Elena and Stefan sitting around talking to Damon. I hear Matty ask "How's she doing?" Damon says "I got her to eat something and she slept for a little while. I got her to talk to me a little bit about what happened too. I'm going to help her get past this Matt." I walk into the sitting room, where everyone is and Matt comes up to me with his hands in his pockets like he wants to hug me but is scared to touch me. I pull him into a hug and whisper "I love you Matty." He wraps his arms around me and says "I love you too, Charlie." Pulling apart, I walk over to the chair where Damon is sitting to sit on the arm and he pulls me into his lap. I have not let anyone hardly touch me since my attack but with Damon it seems so natural and so right. I look at Caroline and see her smiling at me.
We sat and talked for a while and I got up to go to the kitchen and Elena followed me. "You seem to be holding up okay. Is there anything you need?" she asked. People have been asking me if I was okay or how I'm doing but no one asked what I needed. "Actually there is. I need to feel like the old me again. You remember all of those slumber parties that we used to have? I need one. I need a night where I don't have to think about things." I tell her. "I think I can arrange that. But we might want to do it here if Damon and Stefan are okay with it that way if you do have an attack he is nearby." she tells me and I say "I can live with that." We walk back into the sitting room and I asked to talk to Damon alone. We walk into the library and he looks at me concerned. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I am. Thanks to you but I need to ask you something. You told me that I needed to take my power back and I want more than anything to get a part of the old me back. I was wondering if it would be okay to have a slumber party here, just me and the girls. When I brought it up to Elena, she thought it would be better to have it here so that you were close by if I had another attack. Is that okay?" I asked. He smiled and said "This is your home too. If that is what you want, and what you feel you need, just tell me when and we will make ourselves scarce." I stand on my toes and kiss his lips softly. "Thank you. I don't know how but somehow you have become my saving grace." I tell him. "Well, you're stuck with me." he says and I can't help but laugh a little.
We head back into the sitting room and I tell Elena that it's good to go. We start planning it out for that Friday night and I see Damon, Stefan and Matt sitting over to the side smiling. I walk over to my brother and hug him and asked "Why are you smiling so big?" He looks at me and says "It's the first time in a long time I have seen you smiling. It feels like I have you back." I kiss his nose and say "I feel like I am coming back." I look at Damon and he just winks at me.
