Chapter 9

We get up the next morning and start breakfast for everyone. One by one, they all come into the kitchen and once everyone is in there and we are all gathered around eating, Damon speaks up. "Charlie and I were talking last night. We want to get married today and we want you all there." he says. "Really? There's so much to do. You need a dress and flowers and a minister…" Caroline says before I cut her off. "We are going to the courthouse. I don't want a big wedding." I say. "Well, you still need a bouquet and a dress." she says sternly. "I agree." Damon says before getting his wallet and handing me his credit card. "There's no credit limit so get what you want. Don't look at price tags. This is our day. I want you to have what you want." He tells me before kissing my temple. We get dressed and head out the door to go shopping.

We went to Caroline's house first because she said she wanted to show me something. "You have to have something borrowed, blue, old and new." she says. Liz walks in and asks what was going on. "Charlie here is getting married today so we are hooking her up." Caroline says. "Well, let me help." she says and walks out of the room. A minute later, she says "I bought these for all of you girls for graduation but they will work perfect for a wedding too." We open the boxes and they are matching pearl necklaces. "Liz, these are perfect." I tell her before hugging her. "There is your something new. Now, Wear these." she says before handing me a set of pearl earrings. "They were my mother's. You are like a daughter to me and I want both of my girls to wear them on their wedding day." she says so there's my something borrowed. Bonnie takes off her blue bracelet and puts it on my wrist. "Your something blue." she says and that leaves something old. Caroline looks in her jewelry box and pulls out a hair pin. "You remember this pin? I got it when we were five years old. You loved it." Putting it in my hair, she said "There's your something old. Mom, you want to come dress shopping with us? We need a wedding dress." Caroline asked Liz. "I would love to." she says before we all head out the door. Finding a simple white dress, the girls do my hair and makeup and we call Damon to meet us at the courthouse. After compelling the clerk and the justice of the peace, Matty gives me away and a few minutes later, I am Mrs. Salvatore.

Walking out of the courthouse, I kiss Damon softly before Stefan says, "I'll stay at Elena's tonight so you have the house to yourselves for the night." We hug everyone goodbye and head home. Our home. Damon carries me inside, bridal style before carrying me to the bedroom. Laying me down softly, he lays next to me and kisses me softly before deepening the kiss. "I love you Damon." I say as he is kissing my neck. Looking up at me he says "I love you too Princess." We spend the rest of the night as husband and wife, showing our love for one another.

The next day, everyone is over at the boarding house, including Liz and we are all celebrating our marriage. This is what I wanted. All of the people that I love around me, happy. Next thing we know, the door flies open and a woman that looks just like Elena walks in. "I'm back, boys." she says. "Katherine?" Damon asked. I had heard about Katherine and knew that Damon was in love with her before she 'died' and he was turned. Katherine walks over and pulls Damon in for a kiss but just before her lips touch his, he pushes her away and says "Katherine, meet Charlie. My wife." She looks at me and smirks and says, "Not for long."
