Chapter 4
Kagome woke to the familiar trill of her phone, reaching from the cocoon of blankets she snatched the singing device from her bedside table, pulled it into her blankets and answered, "H'lo?"
"Normally, I don't ask-" Kikyo started and was cut off
"Well?" Sango chimed in. This was a conference call it seemed.
"What time is it?" Kagome asked, stretching, but staying beneath the sheets.
"It's 10 am, stop distracting from the question, you looked very snug last night, did you get to sit on his face?" Sango asked with urgency.
"Well, we were in the car in the driveway, the tension was thick. I might have had my hand on his coc-thigh, his hand in my hair. Aaand he got a phone call. Three actually, until he finally answered, and it was some woman, screaming about how he went out and didn't invite her and he was seen on social media with some skank. Ruins the mood, you know?" she ended with a yawn, deciding to sit up.
"Tsukimoto Kagura" Kikyo supplied the name of the woman, "she's technically his longtime fuckbuddy."
"That would have been great information to know before," Kagome muttered
"Sorry 'Gome, we kinda forgot, he hasn't been seen with her in a while, we assumed they broke up. I guess they keep in touch." Sango tsked, "She's definitely not going to make this easy now."
"I shouldn't be surprised that there's someone. I'm more annoyed that I didn't do my own due diligence. Now I'm caught up in drama I don't want to be in." Kagome groused.
"No, don't be like that, maybe she won't cause any problems. Or your grandfather talks to her dad about interfering in Clan business." Kikyo giggled.
"Hardy har har. Either way, this is annoying. I'll talk to you guys later, I'm gonna go meditate then work off this disappointment." Kagome said and hung up after hearing parting greetings from the others.
Fifteen minutes later she bounced into the sunroom, thinking it the perfect place to relax and clear her mind, only to find that she wasn't the only one with that plan. Sesshoumaru sat in full lotus facing the wide glass windows, his hands resting on his lap in cosmic mudra, his right fingers laid over his left, thumbs meeting at the top of the circle. He was ridged with slow deep breaths, she wondered how long he'd been sitting there.
Forgetting that she may be feeling awkward around him based on the night before, she decided to forgo her usual pre-meditation breathing exercises, as they tended to be noisy and she didn't want to disturb his practice. Sitting off to the side in a half lotus position, she pulled on her over ear noise cancelling headphones and set her meditation app timer. The starter chime went off and she settled herself and closed her eyes. She was determined to filter her thoughts before ignoring them altogether as her meditation practice dictated.
She thought about the current situation, about how she was essentially working backwards, trying to create a relationship that didn't exist, but the final result was for all intents and purposes, known. Although her mother and Izayoi said that if a Takeda wasn't suitable, she could find another Clan, she would take that with a grain of salt. As far as they all were concerned, it was Sesshoumaru or bust.
It wasn't as if he was a bad choice, they were attracted to each other and they both have good families, but she knew that wasn't enough to base an entire relationship and marriage on. She was old enough to not just know to be realistic, but to want to be. She knew she wanted love, but for her family, she was willing to settle for mutual respect and commitment.
Kagura posed a problem, she wasn't aware of how invested the woman was, and in actuality, she also wasn't aware of how invested Sesshoumaru was. For all Kagome knew, he could have sold Kagura the world and she was only reacting based on what he told her. While he didn't seem the type to string multiple women along, Kagome was the first to admit that she knew nothing about the elder Takeda and wouldn't put anything past him.
Last night was disappointing, but also illuminating. It gave her things to think about that she didn't consider and now she felt more centered and once again sure of herself. She allowed her mind to clear and continue with the rest of her meditation.
Sometime later, once the ending chime pulled her out of her still state and she slowly brought her mind to awareness. She looked across the room and saw that Sesshoumaru was gone.

The town car pulled up to the high rise from traffic, coming to a complete stop beside the marble steps that led into what was known as the Takeda Building. The occupants in the back glanced at each other, the older male glanced over at his female companion and smiled at the image of her composing herself.
"Are you prepared?" he asked comfortingly. Blue eyes looked up through full lashes as she smiled nervously and nodded. "Don't worry Kagome. You wouldn't have been offered this position if we weren't confident in you. Don't let those boys try to bully you."
Kagome's smile widened and she leaned over to hug the older male. "I know, Uncle Touga. Thank you. I'm not so much nervous about the job as I am worried about making a bad impression. Don't need people hating me before they know me. I am aware that I'll be stepping on quite a few toes."
Touga shook his head and opened the car door, "No such thing will happen. Come let us start your grand entrance".
The younger woman smiled before rolling her shoulders back and stretching her neck to the left and right. After ridding herself of all tension, she let out a quick deep breath, opened her door and stepped out.
Sesshoumaru glanced at the clock on the wall before standing and buttoning the jacket of his suit. It was 10 o'clock, that meant his father was on his way up for their meeting. Hazel eyes peered out the window closest to him to take in the view of the city, wondering what the Old Man was up to. He didn't fail to exaggerate how important this meeting was and that both he and InuYasha be in attendance, however that was as much of the information any brother could get out of him.
Pocketing his phone, he stepped out of his office and made his way to the main boardroom. The Takeda heir walked up to his brother who was face down in his phone and slapped him in the back of his head good naturedly. Said head snapped up and scowled at the taller man before raising a brow in question, he was answered with a faint one shoulder shrug before both entered the room they were designated to meet in.
Touga walked through the entrance of the building, bringing attention to the petite woman walking proudly behind and to the left of him.
'She's doing well' he thought, brown leopard print silk blouse draped attractively over her shoulders and chest before tucking smartly into her cobalt blue high-waisted slacks. Her handbag, tucked neatly into her left elbow, matched her heels in a neutral pewter shade, her whole appearance exuded confidence. 'Those shoes seem fairly impractical, but she seems to be handling herself well.' he thought about her 5-inch pointy toed pumps that seemed to twinkle as she walked confidently.
He could hear the questioning murmurs from his employees as they watched them walk past. They stepped into the elevator that will take them to the Executive Suites, they stood silently as the mirrored doors closed them in the small area and Touga nodded to her reflection with a smirk.
It had taken a little patience, but Kagome finally got a meeting with the Takeda patriarch. She may have had to ask her grandfather to open up some time in their schedule for her, not one to turn down using any links she might have had. What proceeded was a short meeting explaining to both her grandfather and Touga her current business venture and how new media marketing has grown the business she started in her flat in England to a four-person operation that she helps manage from all the way across the world.
She advised them that new media management was a lucrative part of any marketing plan and that it would be remiss of them to continue with their launches without giving some consideration. Touga had admitted to her that Sesshoumaru and another marketing manager had brought it up to them, but neither of them had explained it so 'nicely'.
Kagome thought that they were patronizing her and was about to just call it a loss and move on when the two men offered her a job, a consulting one to look over their media and marketing plans and make edits and suggestions as she saw fit. She had happily accepted and now here she was the following day, about to surprise everyone.
They entered a doorway that signaled a boardroom and he shut the door behind her. She stood still as Sesshoumaru and InuYasha looked at her, their father then back to each other in confusion. She sat gracefully in the chair Touga motioned to while he sat beside her.
"I have great news boys." Touga began happily. "We've brought Kagome on board to consult and go through our marketing plans."
"Really? How you managed that one Kags?" InuYasha asked good naturedly, leaning back in his seat.
"Well I got a tip from a close source and worked my magic" she replied with a shrug and a laugh, she noticed Sesshoumaru nodding in her peripheral vision, he was no doubt remembering their conversation at the lounge.
They spoke for a while longer, going over what she would need and what she expected to be done for her to meet the deadlines Touga wanted to put in place. She advised them that she would ensure to meet and exceed their expectations of her and what she could do.
"Now, let's get you set up somewhere my dear so we can get this ball rolling." Touga said standing and leading her out.

The door to her impromptu office opened and closed, Kagome looked up to see Sesshomaru with his hands in his pockets.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" She asked, pausing her review of the documents before her. They hadn't really spoken since that night, passing each other once again like two ships in the night. This would be the first time he sought her out.
"I'm impressed," he began, "you said you could do it, I might have been a little skeptical."
"Well I guess I proved you wrong" she replied with a smile, though she wondered if he really came in here to tell her that.
Sesshoumaru stepped forward, coming closer to her in the small room. He thought she looked incredibly alluring, even with her hair done up messily to keep it out of her face. Her sapphire eyes were framed with long lashes, enhanced by the makeup she wore. She was looking up at him questioningly, very aware of his proximity and their attraction.
He leaned forward, eager to kiss her, but he noticed her stiffening and knew they would have to broach the topic of what happened.
"I regret what happened last week" he started with a small exhalation of air that could almost be classified as a sigh.
"Who is she? I refuse to come between you two." Kagome stated clearly, she was not to be misunderstood. She had no plans on being a homewrecker.
"There is nothing to come between", he said blandly. "Kagura and I have not had any dealings in months, and I made it clear to her that there will be no repeat performance of what took place. She has no say in who I spend my time with."
He stepped forward again, almost caging her against the wall, "so you see Kagome, I am free to do whatever I like, whoever I like." He ended in a whisper against her neck. He felt rather than heard her gasp as he ran his nose along her neck, smelling how the light floral scent of her perfume, deepened with the flush of her skin.
Kagome's pulse quickened in awareness at his very clear declaration. Her hands found themselves splayed out on his chest, beneath his suit jacket as she all but pressed herself into him. His cologne added to the heady mess that was her brain. Man, did he smell amazing.
She looked up and her resolve to not give in so easily weakened. He was a man on a mission and there was nothing she found sexier than a man who knew what he wanted and went after it.
They don't know who leaned in first, but the kiss was an explosion of sensation for the both of them. He pressed her against the wall at his hands cupping her thighs and ass, which, he was happy to learn, felt as great and tight as they looked.
Kagome was in bliss, this broad shouldered, ultimate man meat of a man was feeling her up, and if the hardness she felt pressed against her was any indication, he liked what he felt. She moaned as she wrapped her hands around his neck, one hand even reaching up into his blonde locks.
The slight noise brought them both back to the present, they were at work. Making out like high schoolers behind the bleachers.
He stepped away from her, needing to separate himself from her pillow soft lips, amazing breasts and tight ass. He needed to focus and will this erection away. He turned around to look at her just in time to see her shake her long locks behind her, chest still heaving and neck exposed. He couldn't help himself.
He found himself pressed against her once more, taking an ear lobe between his teeth. "I cannot wait to fuck you". He murmured silkily
"Aren't you a charmer" she whispered throatily, "you better hurry it up Takeda." She pushed him back lightly and stepped away from the wall.
"I need to get back to work. If you wanna fulfill your fantasies of office sex, it's gonna have to be another day, and definitely your office." She said smirking, her swollen lips and tousled hair making her look even more enticing.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I have a deadline to meet." She finished. She mouthed him a kiss and turned back to the papers on her desk, knowing he was checking her out before he left, she arched her back a little. 'Let's see if a little teasing will push this forward' she thought naughtily.
Sesshoumaru took one last look and groaned inwardly before slipping from the room, unable to get the thought of her sprawled on his desk while he pumped into her or even sitting on the couch legs wide as he sampled her delights. He just knew she would be fun in the bedroom. Slipping into the bathroom closest to him, he needed to distract himself so he could get back to work.
