Chapter 3
Waking up the next morning, I get up and get dressed in my workout clothes. Heading into the kitchen. Getting a bottled water, I see my brother walk in. "Heading out?" he asks. "Heading to the trails. Thought maybe I'd run for a bit. Clear my head." I say and Mateo smiles. I head out the door and to the trails. Getting out of my car, I pull out my phone, turn on my music, put in earbuds and head down the trail and realize that it feels like I never left.
At home, Mateo is sitting out on the porch, texting on his phone when Ghost pulls up. Getting out of his car, he walks up to Mateo and asks "GG here?" Mateo smirks and says "No. She's not. What's up?" Mateo asks. "Just wanted to see if your sister wanted to hang out for awhile." Ghost says. Mateo sighs and says "Man, sit down. We gotta talk." Ghost takes a seat next to him and Mateo starts talking. "My sister, she's, not in a good space so she's not going to be used as just a hookup." Mateo says. "She's not, man. Look, I know I didn't get to talk to her long last night but she's under my skin. I just want to get to know her." Ghost says. Mateo thinks for a minute and says "She's running the trails off of Crawford Park. She should be halfway around by now." Mateo says and Ghost shakes his hand and heads towards the trails.
I've made it around the trails and am feeling pretty good. My mind seems to be more clear than it has in a long time and that feels great. Walking out of the trail entrance, to my car, I see an old Impala sitting next to my car and a familiar man leaning against it. I take out my earbuds and walk up to the man and ask "Stalking me now?" He smirks and says "I come bearing gifts." as he holds out a bottled water. I take the water from him and say "Then you're forgiven." I lean against my car and take a drink. "How'd you know I was here?" I ask as I jump onto the hood of my car. "You're brother told me." he says. I look at him for a minute and really appreciate how hot he is. "You coming to Lincoln City tomorrow with your brother?" he asks. "I thought about it." I say. He stands up straight, walks over and kisses my cheek before saying "See you tomorrow Princesa." I watch him get into his car and leave, leaving me sitting there shocked.
I get home and head to the shower. Thinking about Ghost, I get out of the shower, dress and head to the living room with my laptop in tow. Sitting down on the couch, I open my laptop and just start typing. Before I know it, I've already typed out an entire chapter and I look up to see Mom and Mateo watching me. "What?" I ask. "You. You're writing." Mom says. "I know. First thing I've written in two years." I tell her. "Can we read it?" Mateo says. I hand the laptop to him and mom to read it. Mom smiles when she's done and Mateo looks at me and smirks. "You wrote about him?" I look at him confused and then re-read what I wrote and sure enough, the main character is Ghost. "I guess you found your Muse." Mateo says and I blush.
That night I am sitting on my bed, and have finished three more chapters when my phone rings. Looking at the number, I don't recognize it but I answer anyway. "Hello." I say as I answer. "Hey Princesa." I hear that smooth voice on the other end of the line. "Ghost. How'd you get my number?" I ask. "I have my sources." he says and I just shake my head even though he can't see me. "So have you had any thoughts about Lincoln City tomorrow?" he asks. "I think it might be fun." I say. "Then I'll see you there Princesa. Get some rest, it's gonna be a good day." he says before ending the call and I look at my phone wondering what his game is.
