Leonard laid in bed in the darkroom of 4A on the fourth floor of the premier Inn motel. His sad face illuminated only by the glow of the moonlight penetrating through the window. It's been a week since he left Penny's apartment, and this was his last night in her world.

For the last three days, he had felt clueless and helpless. Leonard felt pain, hurt, frustration, sorrows, and anger all at the same time. Didn't Penny understand the meaning of true love? The thought of leaving without Penny was hell. Leonard could feel her energy even though she wasn't here with him. Where was this strong desire coming from? It made him feel so broken inside. Leonard truly believed that Penny was the only person that makes him happy and completes him. Leonard couldn't understand why Penny wouldn't leave with him. He was willing to give up his career and world for her; why couldn't she do the same for him. Did she not love him enough. He understood her reasons, but it was hard not to wonder if she wasn't on the same page as him. Penny has not been in touch and would not take his phone calls or answer her apartment intercom. He had hoped to bump into her at HQ before he left, but he was informed she was off sick. All channels to reach her failed. He wondered if she was okay. Leonard missed her so much. He missed her smile, the way she looked at him with those beautiful eyes that made him weak. He missed her sense of humor, her charming, and many facial expressions after a funny act. He even missed the way she chewed her food. He would stare at her intently while she ate a mouthful. It was the little things that might go unnoticed by others that captivated him about Penny. She was perfect; the love he felt for her was more potent than Leonard ever understood. She was the first thing and the last thing on his mind.

Penny couldn't bear to be in the apartment without Leonard. They were some items that Leonard left behind, which reminded her of him. Penny clung to a picture of them together in a close embrace. His scent still lingers around the apartment. It rattled her senses in a way that reminded Penny of how she felt around Leonard.

Penny booked herself into the premier Inn motel. She had been there for three days. She laid in bed in room 4B on the fourth floor feeling down. Despite the grief she was feeling, she tried to be strong and take her mind away from losing Leonard. She had not been eating or sleeping well for days. She missed Leonard, the only man she had ever loved. She could not understand why he would choose to go back rather than stay with her. Penny was in pain, so much pain. She felt lost, lost in love. Penny's heart has been taken over and was hurting with desires that she cannot control. How could she ease the pain? Her mind wanders back and forth on what it wants. She laid in the dark and wondered if she was destined to feel this way forever. Penny closed her eyes to block out the pain in her heart, why time after time do I get hurt. Her family tragedy and now Leonard. Why can't I be normal? Penny felt lost and mindless; she could feel him close; it was like he was here in spirit with her. "Get out of my head Leonard and let me sleep." She growled. Leonard had come into her life, and she made a new friend, but the more she got to know him, the more Penny saw the beauty within him. That's when Penny began to fall for Leonard slowly. He was sweet, kind, friendly, sincere, and not to mention those gorgeous brown eyes staring into her soul. He was just damn beautiful inside and out.

It was time to leave and go back home. Howard, Bernadette, and Amy lead the way. Sheldon was handcuffed to Leonard, and the rest of the crew gathered together to make the journey. As they walked towards the portal, Leonard kept looking back. He hadn't seen Penny since he left. She refuses to answer his phone call or texts. He at least thought she would show up to say goodbye. He knew she was hurting, and it was all his fault. He didn't blame her for not showing.

It was a cold morning, and the mist and fog covered the base. It was hard to see through it. But all his thoughts were with Penny. He wondered what Penny was doing. Leonard wanted to see her one last time, but maybe it was for the better, seeing her again could change his mind. He would just have to look at Penny and get lost in her beauty.

"Hi, buddy, how you are keeping," Howard asked.

"I'm fine, just can't wait to get home," Leonard said.

Howard could tell Leonard was hurting, but he didn't want to push him. He knew Leonard would open up when he was ready.

"I'm sorry it didn't work out with you and Penny."

"Well, these things happen; it was not meant to be. Howard, I don't want to talk about it." Leonard answered and to stop Howard from probing further.

He turns to look back one last time, but the fog is too thick to see beyond. Leonard could not stop regretting all the things he could have said to Penny. Distance would now end that. Leaving was heart-wrenching, and it broke his heart to leave Penny.

Was he stubborn, or should he have made an effort to compromise? Leonard had experienced true love with Penny. He knew how valuable and hard-to-find such a thing is. And when push comes to shove, he should have compromised to stay with Penny, altering his current career path that was getting in the way if it means staying and maintaining the relationship or at least modify his current situation to fit whatever the universe throws their way. Leonard realized that Penny was the most important thing in his life. Leonard concluded that there's nothing he won't do for Penny. He knew he had to do the right thing. Running away wasn't his thing. His happiness and wellbeing depended on it.

"Leonard, are you coming?" Howard asked.

"Here you go," he handed his uncuffed side to Howard.

"What the hell," Howard asked.

"I can't go back with you. I'm staying. it's up to you to deliver Sheldon."

"Leonard, are you sure, have you thought this through. You will end up stuck here forever."

"I don't care, and if Penny wants to stay in the dying world, then I will too."

They all looked shocked at his decision. Was Leonard serious? Everyone looked confused, not sure what was going on.

Leonard walked away from the group, no holding back and not looking back. He didn't know if he was making the right decision or not; all he cared about was being with Penny. The love he felt was more robust than anything he had ever experienced. It was like the universe was drawing him toward her. Suddenly, he thought he spotted a lonely figure in the mist; he could not see clearly, maybe it was a fabrication of his mind.

Then he saw the figure carrying a traveling bag. It too dim to see clearly. As it got closer, he could just make out a shape. His heart skipped a beat. Their eyes met. Before he knew it, they were in each other's arms, Leonard and Penny held one another tightly with both arms, not wanting to let go. The show of love was there for everyone to see. He kissed her passionately as their hearts beat as one.

"I'm sorry, Leonard." Penny cried.

"No, I'm sorry, I should not have left you. I love you so much. I'm willing to stay to be with you." Leonard said tearfully.

"You don't have to do that. I have made up my mind. I'm coming with you." Penny held his face in both hands.

"But…"

"No buts, I'm coming with you. End off." Penny met his lips.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Leonard, I have never been so sure about anything in my whole life. I just forgot how complete you make me feel."

"You complete me too. I'm sorry I walked away from you. I should have been strong and stayed. It was horrible not being with you, It felt like I was torn in half." Leonard said sincerely.

Leonard's words brought more tears to her eyes. "I never wanted to hurt you, Leonard, I still don't understand why I was running away from you. Now I see the bigger picture, and I now know where I want to be. With you."

They both felt their hearts bond; they kissed softly as the others looked on and clapped. Leonard picked up Penny's bag with one hand and held the other hand. They walked towards the portal, fingers intertwined, and faded into the morning mist.

Raj was never seen again. It was rumored he went back in time and stayed in some timeline with the love of his life where she survived.

Howard and Bernadette were married as soon as they returned home. They had two children and retired from the service and lived happily, bringing up their kids on a farm.

Sheldon pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended on condition; he burned and deleted all data to do with the time machine. Also, on the condition, he never gets involved or tries to recreate any form of time travel devices or associate with anyone who does for illegal purposes. Sheldon agreed as he got a second chance to be with Amy and did not want to mess it up again.

Sheldon, Amy, Leonard, and Penny left the courtroom. Leonard and Penny looked on as the happy couple beam in delight that they could now build a life together. Leonard character reference help Sheldon and he promised never to forget what Leonard had done for him. He apologized sincerely for stealing his ideas and blueprints. The device, software, and any blueprints will be wiped and destroyed in a controlled environment at a later date.

They sat in a secluded café away from peering eyes. The waiter took their orders, as they waited for their food. Leonard asked

"So, you had quite an adventure visiting different dimensions. How many worlds did you visit?"

"Quite a few, and in all of them, I found you," Sheldon replied.

"What was I like?" Leonard was curious.

"The same, kind, and caring as usual." Sheldon hated to admit.

"Did you find me," Amy asked?

"No, I did not want to bump into my other-self if you were with him."

"That makes sense," Amy said disappointedly.

"What about me,?" Penny asked.

"Funny, you asked. I went to 6 different parallel universes, and in every one of them, you and Leonard found each other and were married. I guess not even time, parallel universes or dimensions can keep you two apart."

Leonard and Penny looked at each other and smiled. What Sheldon just said, warmed their hearts. She grabbed Leonard's hand as they were sitting next to each other.

"Cool, I guess we have this connection that is impossible to deny. We are kind of like twin flames." Penny giggled.

"Twin flame sums it up, I have only known you two for a little while, but your connection is truly out of this world. It's like you two were meant to find each other to compensate for the tragedies you experience in your alternative worlds." Amy said.

Leonard and Penny nodded and agreed. They were grateful that their souls have managed to cross space/time and found each other against all the odds. They were brought together for a reason, together in any parallel reality or dimensions.

Sheldon and Amy dated for a while, eventually got married. Sheldon kept to his word and stay away from anything to do with time travel. His love for Amy and her guidance kept him on the straights.

Penny realized that Leonard was the push she needed to heal her soul from the pain of losing her loved ones and coming to terms with it on a deeper level. She was happy she had a new family who was delighted to accept her. It was Penny's new beginning. Penny was healing. She never felt more optimistic. She was coming to terms with her traumas and learning different perspectives allowing her to realize her truths and worthy of love.

Leonard and Penny will never forget the connection they have that can't be broken as they accepted their mirrored lives. Not even time can separate the two love bugs who came from different parallel universes and found each other.

The End
