Summary:
Prince Alastor was cursed to a beast/demon form, along with all who lived in his castle, by the Enchantress Lilith who saw no love in his arrogant heart for others. The only way he could break the spell was to learn to love another and earn their love in return before the eye design on his enchanted key completely closed, which would start to close on his twenty-first birthday. But who could ever learn to love a beast?
Ten years later, Vaggie, an inventor from a nearby town, becomes lost in the woods and seeks shelter in Alastor's castle. Alastor imprisons her for trespassing.
Her best friend, Charlie, a bookworm who dreams of a life outside her provincial town, finds her trapped in the castle and offers her place instead. Alastor accepts with a promise she'll remain in the castle forever.
In the beginning Charlie views him as nothing more than a monster, and Alastor views her as difficult and stubborn. But the two soon taste the bittersweetness of finding "you can change and learning you were wrong".
