Shego woke up in a dimly lit room. She could see dust particles floating in the air lit by a lone window in the distance. She pursed her black lips in frustration as she realized she couldn't move. Her arms were tied above her head with a thick rope and her legs were likewise bound by a second rope. Her burning green hands were somehow useless against the seemingly ordinary rope. She strained her neck to see around her. The room was sparsely furnished with various machines and gadgets, some of them broken open, others visibly rusted even in the poor lighting. It was apparent that a mad scientist had kidnapped her and she could already guess which one.
Dr. Drakken…it had been four months since she'd seen him. It was the night his most recent evil scheme had backfired. She could remember being covered in thick, gray smoke, hacking from the smoke but pushing forward to get her hapless, blue-skinned boss the hell out of there before the whole structure crumbled. That was the night she decided she was finished. Finished with his crazy take-over-the-world schemes. Finished with him. He didn't take that choice well. First he was angry. After that he was pathetic. Then he became uncharacteristically calm. She might have noticed if she wasn't so angry and already halfway out the door. She figured he was no longer her problem but she was very, very wrong.
Her head was throbbing. She could barely think, her headache was so bad. She closed her eyes trying to refocus. She lost time. She opened her eyes when she heard that familiar evil laugh…and the smell of bubblegum in her nostrils. Drakken, in all his buffoonish glory was standing just inches from her face. He looked down on her with a wide, unsettling grin.
"Did you miss me?" he snarled.
"No" she spat back. His smile fell, but he recovered quickly.
"Shego, tell me the truth: did you miss me?" She was unfazed by the question, ready to repeat herself until a gentle "yes" escaped her lips.
She was perplexed. She was pissed.
"I meant to say 'no" she shouted. She wriggled around frantically trying to undo her restraints. He laughed gleefully and did a little dance.
"I knew it," he said, focusing back on his prisoner with menacing intensity. He leaned forward until, again, she could taste his bubblegum breath. "I knew you missed me," he said softly.
"No I d-" she started emphatically.
"Stop lying!" he interjected, and suddenly she couldn't speak. Her mouth opened but no words came out. It was as if she had no control over her own tongue. What the hell had he done to her? He had that childish grin back on his face. It was starting to dawn her what was happening…
He placed a mind control chip on her before and it was possible that he may have done it again, but she wasn't sure. She couldn't feel the chip on her forehead so she couldn't be certain.
"Did you put the mind control chip on me?"
"Hoo hah ha ha ha," he laughed heartily as he walked away.
