It was a year and a half later and Isabella was at Josh's house. They had been together for about a year and a half and they'd both been 16 for some time now. Because of what happened to Gabriella when she was young, Isabella had always been quite cautious when it came to her physical relationship with Josh. They were watching a movie in his living room when he turned her chin to kiss her. She had always been ok when they were kissing but this time, he was gripping her a little too tight for her liking. She inwardly sighed when her phone rang and went to answer it. "Just ignore it."
"Josh, I can't just ignore it, it could be important." He groaned as she sat up properly and the caller id showed that it was Gabriella. She answered the call. "Mom?"
"Bella."
"Ari, what's wrong? What are you doing with Mom's phone?"
"Nothing's wrong, Mommy's in the kitchen making Aidy and I afternoon tea."
Isabella smiled. "Ok Bubba, is there a reason you wanted to call or did you just want to say hi?"
"Aidan and I miss you."
Isabella sighed as she heard her sister's sad voice. "I know Ari, I miss you and Aidan too. I know that I haven't been able to play with you guys as much and I know it's different from how it normally is."
"I know Mommy and Daddy say it's because you're in grade 11. Does that mean you're a big girl now and you don't want to play with us anymore?"
"Ari, don't think like that. I am a lot busier now that I'm in grade 11 and I'm sorry if I made you or Aidan feel like I don't have time to spend time with you, but that's not true, ok Bubba? I don't care how old I am, I'm always gonna want to spend time with you guys. How about on Friday night we have a sleepover in my room, we can watch movies and have a girls night. Then on Saturday, I'll take you and Aidan to the park and we can have a sibling day, does that sound ok?"
"Yes please Bella."
Isabella heard Gabriella in the background call for Arabella and Aidan. "Ok Bubba, I think Mommy wants you now. I'll be home soon ok? I love you."
"I love you too Bella."
"Bye Ari." She said as she hung up and sighed to herself.
"How about we get back to what we were doing before your sister interrupted."
Isabella narrowed her eyes at her boyfriend. "Josh seriously? I'm not in the mood for that right now." She looked at him when he huffed. "What?"
"You're never in the mood for it. We've been dating for a year and a half, we're both 16 and we've barely done anything more than make out."
"Is there such an issue with that?"
"What do you think Bella? I'm the hockey captain, people expect me to have gone all the way."
"But you're with me, am I not enough?"
"Babe, you know that's not just what it's about."
Isabella stood up. "Well I guess that's it then. If you can't accept that I'm not ready then I guess we're done."
He grabbed her hand. "Bella, don't do this, you're overreacting."
"No, I'm not overreacting. You have no idea what happened to my mom when she was young and I promised my mom and dad that I'd be careful and never let a guy force me into any physical relationship that I wasn't ready for. My mom was raped when she was 13 and they don't want me to get hurt the way she did."
"But Babe, she was 13, you're 16, it's legal now."
She shook her head. "That's not the point Josh. What happened to my mom really hurt her. I don't know what your family means to you, but mine means everything to me. I thought you were a good guy but I don't know anymore. Look I know you probably mean well and all but I'm done here. My dad waited two years for mom before they did anything physical, he waited for her to decide to be ready that she was ready and he was a basketball captain just like you're hockey captain. If you respected me, you would wait for me to be ready instead of pushing me. I'm sorry Josh but I'm not gonna let you push me around when it comes to this."
"I guess we're done here then."
"Yeah I guess we are."
"Bye Bella."
"Bye Josh." She walked out of the house and debated calling her mom to come pick her up but decided against it, knowing that she'd worry about why she was asking her to pick her up. She walked home and walked inside, calling out to whoever was home. "I'm home." She smiled as she felt Aidan hug her legs, she lifted him up and hugged the four year old. "Hey Aidy."
"Hi Bella, I missed you."
"I missed you too Kiddo. I talked to Ari on the phone before and I told her that I'm gonna take you both to the park on Saturday, does that sound like fun?" Aidan nodded and leant his head on her shoulder. She smiled and stroked his back. "I love you Kiddo, you know that."
"I love you Bella."
She smiled and kissed the top of his head, the little boy reminded her so much of herself when she was little. "Bella?" She smiled slightly as her mom and Arabella came into the living room.
"Hey Mom, hey Ari."
"Baby Girl, you're home early, I thought you were staying at Josh's for a couple more hours before you came home."
She nodded slightly. "Yeah well I decided to come back early."
Gabriella knew something was wrong. "Ari, Aidan, do you want to go play while I talk to Bella." The younger children nodded and went off to play together. Gabriella took Isabella over to the lounge. "Ok Baby Girl, tell me what's up." She shrugged in response. "Come on Bella, I know I when you're upset."
"I don't think I'm upset as such, I'm just kinda disappointed."
"Did something happen with Josh?"
She nodded. "We broke up."
Gabriella pulled her daughter into a hug. "I'm sorry Baby Girl. What happened? Are you ok?"
"I'm ok, nothing happened, he's just not exactly who I thought he was."
"Did he hurt you?"
"No, he didn't hurt me. We were just watching a movie and he started kissing me but Ari called me on your phone. We spoke for a bit and she told me that her and Aidan miss spending time with me so I told them I'd spend some time with them on the weekend. When i finished talking to her, I felt really bad, I didn't mean to make them feel like I didn't have time for them anymore. He tried to start again but I told him that I wasn't in the mood. He pretty much told me that since he was the hockey captain, everyone expects us to have done... it and that he wasn't willing to wait for me to be ready. So we pretty much ended it there because I told him that I wouldn't let him push me into any of it."
Gabriella hugged her daughter. "I'm so sorry Baby Girl, I know I can't exactly relate to what you're going through because your dad was my only relationship that meant anything to me. But I'm so proud of you for standing your ground and not letting him push you around."
"Mama, you were hurt way worse than a silly break up."
"That may be true, but I know that breaking up with someone you love does hurt you."
"I wasn't in love with him, we just - I don't know."
Gabriella kissed her forehead. "You're only 16 Baby Girl, you're not expected to know. I'm sorry that you're going through this but I want you to know that I'm here for you Angel and you can come to me if you need anything ok?"
She nodded. "I know, I'm not upset about what happened, I'm just kinda sad that people think that way. But I promised you and dad that I would never let a guy push me around or push me into anything and I wasn't going to break that. I love you Mama, I love you, Dad, Ari and Aidan, I don't need a boy in my life if I have you guys."
"Of course Baby Girl, I love you too, we all love you so much."
"Mama, can we have a movie night tonight? I know when I was little, you, me and Dad used to cuddle up and watch a movie but we haven't done that as much since Ari and Aidan were born and I want them to be able to have that memory."
"Of course we can Baby Girl, I'll call your dad now and tell him ok?"
That night saw the Bolton family cuddled up watching a movie. Isabella had her younger sister on her lap as she sat between her two parents, leaning into her father's embrace while her mother had her brother in her lap. Isabella smiled as she looked at her family, knowing that as long as she had her mom, dad, brother and sister, she would be ok with whatever happens.
