(I thought it would be important to show Isabella's relationship with Aidan as well)
A few weeks later saw Isabella sitting with her friends at lunch time. All three of the Bolton kids went to the same school as Gabriella and Troy earned enough to send them to a private school that ran from kindergarten to grade 12, wanting the best for their children. Isabella was having lunch with her group of friends, laughing and chatting when Aidan's teacher, Mrs Kelly, came up to the group. "I'm looking for Isabella Bolton." Isabella nodded to the teacher. "I'm Aidan's teacher and he seems to be a bit upset at the moment, but he won't talk to any of the teachers so I was wondering if you would come down and try to talk to him."
"Of course, he's my brother, I think I'll be able to find out what's wrong."
"Thank you Isabella."
The oldest Bolton daughter followed her brother's teacher down to the kindergarten and sighed as she found her brother sitting in the corner of the playground away from the other kids. She went over and sat down beside him. "Aidan, are you ok?" The boy shrugged and crawled into his sister's lap, resting his head against her shoulder. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed the top of his head. "What's wrong Aidy?"
"The other kids don't like me."
"But I thought you told Mommy and Daddy that you made some friends, that's what Mrs Kelly said when she spoke to them."
The little boy shook his head. "No I just went on the playground so it looked like I made friends. Everyone thinks I'm too quiet, they only talk to me if they wanna pick on me."
"What do they pick on you for?"
"That no one wants to be friends with a quiet boy and that I'm no fun, they say I have no friends."
She hugged her brother tighter. "That's not true. There's nothing wrong with being quiet and Ari and I have a lot of fun with you. You know I was picked on when I was little too?" Aidan shook his head. "I was a lot like you when I was little and I didn't have many friends either at first but then I met Molly and we've been friends for a long time."
"Do you think I'm gonna have a friend like Molly one day?"
That question tore at her heart. "I know you will Aidy, anyone would be lucky to have a friend like you. What do you say if I go ask Mrs Kelly if I can take you to go see Ari and we can spend the rest of lunch together? Do you want to do that?" When he nodded, she stood up and held his hand. "Come on, we'll go talk to your teacher." They walked over to the lady.
"Is everything ok now?"
"It will be soon." Isabella responded. "I was wondering if I'd be able to take Aidan for the rest of lunch, just over to the grade one area. we just wanted to spend some time with my little sister and then I'll bring him back at the end of lunch."
The teacher sighed. "Normally this wouldn't be allowed, but I'll make an exception this once, just make sure you bring him back just before the end of lunch."
Isabella nodded. "Thank you Mrs Kelly." The two siblings walked over to the grade one and found Arabella sitting with her friends Holly, Kaylee, Liam and Max. "Hey Ari, can you come here for a second?" The little girl nodded and walked over to her siblings, hugging her older sister. "Aidan's been having a bit of a tough time today so we were wondering if you wanted to spend lunch with us?"
"Ok that would be fun." She hugged her younger brother. "I'm sorry you're sad Aidy."
"It's ok Ari."
"Why are you sad?"
"No one at kindy wants to be my friend, they think I'm quiet and no fun, they don't like me."
"That's not true Aidan, I like you, you're a good brother and we always have fun, Bella and I love you."
"I love you and Bella."
The siblings spent the rest of lunch together and Aidan seemed to be in better spirits as Isabella took him back to the kindergarten. As she got to the entrance, Isabella noticed little girl sitting by herself with a picture book in her lap. "Hey Aidy, who's that little girl?"
"That's Tessa."
"Why don't we go over and say hi?" Aidan nodded shyly, making Isabella smile and they walked over to the little girl, Isabella kneeling so she wasn't towering over the two kids. "Hi Sweetie, I'm Isabella and this is my brother Aidan, he's in your class."
Tessa nodded. "I'm Tessa."
"That's a pretty name, are you ok Tessa? You're sitting all the way over here by yourself."
"I'm ok, the other kids think I'm boring because I like reading so they don't like me."
Aidan responded. "The other kids think I'm boring too, they don't like me because I'm quiet."
Tessa smiled shyly. "Do you want to be my friend Aidan?"
"Yes please Tessa."
Isabella smiled as Aidan sat down beside Tessa and the little girl moved the book between them so that Aidan could read it to. She looked at the time and realised she would have to get back to her area before the bell rang. "Aidan, I've gotta go back to my area so I can get ready for class but I'll see you this afternoon ok?"
Aidan stood and hugged his sister. "Ok Bella, I love you, bye."
"I love you too Kiddo, bye."
As Isabella left, she took one last look at her brother and his new friend and smiled at the sight.
