AUTHOR'S NOTE: This first chapter is just going to be some lore about YGGDRASIL and follow the canon . It takes place after Herohero leaves, in the Throne Room. You can skip but I don't recommend it. l do not own Overlord in any way, shape, or form whatsoever, I only own this fanfiction and my OC.

CHAPTER 1

Technology has far advanced and the newest gaming craze is DMMO-RPG, which stands for "Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game". Using a mix of cyber and nano-technology, players can explore a virtual world as if it was reality. There were limitations of course, such as facial expressions, taste, or touch. However, when YGGDRASIL was released by a Japanese company in 2126 AD, it was a massive hit due to the complexity of the game and the high amount of freedom. However, all great things must come to an end, and YGGDRASIL was no exception. 12 years later, in 2138 AD, YGGDRASIL is but a shadow of its former glory, an empty shell. In the final moments before the servers shut down, a single man sits upon a throne.

Ainz Ooal Gown, there wasn't a single player who didn't know that name. In its prime, it boasted 41 members, all heteromorphic races, and had a single digit ranking in the guild ranking at 9th place. Its base was stationed in The Great Tomb of Nazarick, a former undead dungeon turned guild base after the members conquered it. Heteromorphs were one of the three playable races in YGGDRASIL, along with demihumans and humanoids. Heteromorphs had unique abilities, however, to make the game more balanced, they were considered monsters, so you could kill heteromorphic players without penalty as opposed to demihumans or humanoids. Thus, heteromorphic players were often targets with the sole reason being that they were heteromorphic. However, Ainz Ooal Gown could be considered a sanctuary of sorts, it only had heteromorphs and was quite strong, naturally, other players didn't like this.

One day, eight guilds gathered together to storm Nazarick, which had expanded from six to ten floors. there were over fifteen hundred players along with mercenary NPCs, and their goal was the throne room on the 10th floor. They fought through the 1st to 7th floor, and managed to reach the 8th floor with one thousand to twelve hundred members left, however they all met their demise and none reached the ninth floor. The largest attack force ever assembled, had failed. Nazarick had proven its strength, and ability to withstand anything the game could throw at it. However, Ainz Ooal Gown, just like YGGDRASIL ,is now just a shadow of its former glory.

Nazarick was a tomb only in name. The first to third floors were catacombs filled with undead, followed by an underground cave that used to be the habitat of a giant white bat before its conquering. Afterwards, was a frozen ice land, a massive jungle, and a lava filled hell. The eighth floor was considered the last line of defense and the most difficult, followed by a little modern city which housed the residences of NPCs ad guild members. The tenth floor was the Throne Room and was where the members would gather for one final showdown, but no one ever made it this far, so it was little more than a decadent ornament. Now, Icarus sat in the Throne Room, on the Throne of Kings, a reward the guild had gotten for clearing Nazarick on their first attempt. It was a World Item, a unique item that there were only 200 of in all of YGGDRASIL. Ainz Ooal Gown was in first in terms of World Items and had eleven whereas compared to the second place guild which only had three. Furthermore, two of the eleven were a part of The Twenty, which were single-use World Class items that were unparalleled in power and value.

Icarus is a 6'2 vampire with messy silver hair and ocean blue eyes. He had a racial class called Eternal Neutrality, which he got due to being the first undead player with a karma value of zero to reach level 100. Thus, his karma is always set to be at zero, however, his karma is actually split between extreme evil (-500) and extreme good (500) as he is a demon while simultaneously being an angel. This causes his character information to display that he has extreme mood swings along with slight depression. However, as he is also a vampire, and thus an undead, he has an emotional regulator which helps ease the constant extreme feelings. Of course, this was just lore and character background, he didn't actually have mood swings in real life. Now, at the end, all the memories came back to him, all the adventures, conversations, and time they spent together. It made him happy as he reminisced on the past and all the times they spent together and all the laughs they shared. However, for a long time, he had been the sole pillar of Nazarick, as almost all the members left and returned to reality, and a single person could not do the work of forty-one, causing the ranking to slip twenty spots from ninth all the way to twenty ninth. As his parents had died and he had no real friends, he spent almost all his spare time, effort, and money on this naturally so, he was now filled with anger as he remembered all the halfhearted goodbyes and empty promises.

"Lets meet again sometime."

"I'll see you again, I gotta get off now."

"See you tomorrow."

"BULLSHIT!" he roared.

They all left, every last one of them. Even now on the last day, the amount who had come back to say a final goodbye could be counted on one hand. Herohero, a polite man who played as an Elder Black Slime, one of the strongest slime species, had just left after yet another lukewarm promise of meeting again somewhere sometime. Anger filled him as the thoughts of the guild members abandoning the guild that they had built together.

"No, that's not fair to them. We all enjoyed playing with each other, but at the end, we had to face reality. I don't blame you guys, it's not your fault. But...I'm still sad that it has to end." he thought.

Now, only sadness filled him up as the final moments ticked closer and closer. He decided to mess a bit around with Albedo, a demon succubus and the Overseer of the Floor Guardians. He pulled up her information and scrolled through miles of text and finally reached the bottom.

"She is a complete slut."

"Huh?"

Thinking that he misread, he stared at the line, and the line stared back, unchanging. He let out a chuckle as it took him by surprise, but remembering that her creator was Tabula Smaragdina, it all made sense. As the guildmaster, he had the authority to change it, and he decided that he would.

"She is completely smitten with Icarus."

"What am I doing?" he asked himself in embarrassment.

"No, it's okay, the game is going to be shut down in a few minutes anyways." he convinced himself.

As the timer reach the one minute remaining mark, he leaned back and viewed the throne room. It was truly opulent, wide enough to easily fit hundreds. Chandeliers adorned with precious stones of all sorts were hanging from the high ceiling, and 41 flags, each with a different symbol for the members of the guild, attached to ornate flag poles jutting out from the walls. On the right side of the red carpet, there were six battle maids in a line, the Pleiades, on one knee each with various hairstyles, colors, and equipment. Near the steps to the Throne of Kings, also on one knee, was Sebas, an old butler with white hair who was the leader of the Pleiades. Finally, almost by his side, was Albedo as she was the leader of all the NPCs excluding the guild members.

As the countdown neared its end, he took one last look around at the surroundings, took everything in, and closed his eyes for what he assumed to be the last time.

[23:59:47]

"Twelve years...how the time flies."

[23:59:52]

"It was fun...really fun."

[23:59:54]

"Thanks for everything." he said with a smile.

[23:59:56]

"Goodbye YGGDRASIL."

[23:59:58]

[23:59:59]

[00:00:00]

[00:00:01]

"What the f*ck?!" he shouted

His mind ran as he thought of ways that could have caused this impossibility to have happened.

"Was it a delay? Was the shutdown pushed back?"

He hurriedly went to check the global chat to see if there was any announcement by the game company only to realize it was gone. His HUD displaying all the vital information was gone, his HP MP bars, the server time, the chats, everything was gone.

"Impossible."

"Is something wrong?"

Albedo asked him and as he was still confused with the situation, Icarus did not know how to respond. Too much was happening too quickly, so he just sat there in a daze for a moment.

"What?"

"Are you all right?"

Albedo got closer as she looked at him in concern. He smelled a faint scent, it was wonderful, and helped him regain his focus.

"Y-Yes I'm alright." His tone was slightly shaky.

Icarus had common sense, so if a person asked a question, he naturally would answer. But he got this feeling that something was off. She was very close now, within six inches of his face and the worry was easily seen on her perfect face.

"I can't contact a GM."

"I'm sorry Lord Icarus but I do not know what a GM is, I apologize for my failure."

"Huh?"

Then it hit him like a truck. He was conversing with her, he was conversing with an NPC. NPCs were only supposed to react to intruder or certain commands with responses that were programmed ahead of time. They shouldn't be able to move around or converse freely.

"Its okay Albedo."

Icarus dismissed Albedo with a wave of his hand and brought his attention to the six Pleiades and Sebas who were still in their original genuflecting positions.

"Approach."

"Understood."

They simultaneously responded and rose to their feet. They proceeded to walk up the stair to the front of the throne before dropping back to their submissive positions. Icarus came to the realization that they were capable of reacting and responding to things that they shouldn't. And he finally realized what had been bothering him. He could talk, it sounded stupid but he could talk. His mouth was moving, which couldn't happen in YGGDRASIL.

"Sebas."

Sebas looked up in curiosity at what his lord had to say.

"Are the NPCs all loyal? I don't know, I need information, and fast."

Questions raced around, but Icarus forced aside all the confusion. Panic wouldn't help him. He decide to send Sebas on reconnaissance. Icarus cleared his throat and spoke.

"Sebas, you are to investigate the surrounding area. If you encounter any intelligent life forms, try and invite them to the Tomb. Do not leave a range of one kilometer from the tomb and avoid unnecessary conflict."

"Understood, Lord Icarus."

"I should try to contact the game company."

The only problem was that he couldn't contact them. There were no way of communicating with anyone else.

"Message?"

This was a spell that was used to communicate in the game.

He was uncertain as whether it would work as he was almost certain this was no longer YGGDRASIL, but he had to give it a try.

He also wanted to be aware of his authority. He needed to know whether his powers and privileges from YGGDRASIL carried over. The NPCs were loyal but would they always be? No one would be loyal to someone who always fails. He knew he definitely wouldn't, and he needed to know if their programmed loyalty was eternal or could be eroded.

"Would rewards help restore loyalty? I don't want to do that though, it feels like I'm buying them off." he wondered.

He opened his left hand and held the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown.

"What about overwhelming power?"

The seven gems set into the staff gleamed as bright as a sun, showing off it's unfashionable value.

"...Fuck it, I'm overthinking this and now my head hurts. I'm not making any progress the way I am right now."

Icarus released the staff, and it collapsed to the ground. He decided that he would be cautious for now until he had more knowledge.

"All Pleiades will head to the Ninth Floor and repel any possible invaders from the Eighth Floor."

"Understood, Lord Icarus."

Sebas and the maids bowed to their king who sat upon the throne, then stood and left together.

The giant doors opened and closed, leaving Albedo and Icarus alone. He was glad they didn't refuse or it would have been quite awkward. He then realized that Albedo had stood by the entire time, patiently awaiting orders.

She gave a small smile, and asked, "Lord Icarus, what are my orders?"

"Come."

"Yes."

Albedo drew closer until she was close enough that he could touch her black wings on her waist, if he leaned forward.

"She smells nice."

Icarus cast out that notion which had appeared again. He reached out his hand to touch Albedo's.

"...Ugh!"

"Hmm?"

A moan escaped Albedo's lips, causing Icarus to pull his hand away as if he received a shock.

"What happened? Is she ok?"

He realized that it was because he was leaking neutral energy. Albedo was an Extreme Evil (-500 karma) and for him to hold her hand while releasing neutral energy was like giving Superman kryptonite.

"But she's a NPC of Nazarick, shouldn't she be considered an ally, so why did the energy affect her? Could it be that friendly fire is on?"

Icarus promptly apologized to Albedo.

"I'm sorry Albedo. I carelessly released my neutral energy touch skill and I hurt you, please forgive me."

"What? Lord Icarus, please don't apologize, that damage was like a drop in the ocean!"

"Is that so? I'm glad...but I still must apologize."

he began thinking about how to temporarily deactivate the passive skill so he doesn't accidentally hurt someone, and then he suddenly knew how to do it. He could not help but wonder about the situation he was in. The knowledge had come to him out of nowhere. After deactivating the skill, he wrapped his hand around her wrist. Under her silk glove, he felt a pulse. It was a strong and steady beat. She was alive, not a combination of pixels and data values, but truly alive . He gazed at Albedo's eyes and saw himself in the reflection. Her cheeks were quickly turning rosy, probably due to the increase in her body temperature."

"What's going on?"

Icarus shook his head in denial. There was no way that could have occurred. How could he be transported into a game world? He then came up with a final test, the last proof, he had to do this.

"Albedo, can I touch your breasts?"

"Eh?"

The air froze, and Albedo's eyes widened.

"I need to do this." he tried to convince himself.

It was futile as he started insulting himself. But he really did have no choice, and as Icarus tried to convince himself he wasn't being a pervert, he didn't notice that Albedo had started squirming with joy.

"Of course, Lord Icarus! I'm honored you would choose me."

Albedo leaned in, showing off her supple chest that was contained in her dress, right in front of his face. He was very nervous as he sneaked a glance at Albedo, and found that her eyes were bright, and she was pushing up her bosom as if begging him to touch them. Icarus calmed his frantic nerves and reached out.

"Umm...ahh…"

As Albedo moaned yet again, he confirmed his idea. R-18 actions were strictly forbidden in these games, and violators would be revealed to the public on the game's official website, with their accounts being deleted, or worse. Furthermore, forcing a player to participate in a game without expressed permission could be considered cyber-kidnapping. It was highly likely that the virtual world had become reality.

"Wait. Wait a moment. Albedo has a smell."

YGGDRASIL had food and drink items, but consuming them was just some pixel animations and data. taste and smell were not in the game. touch also had many restrictions, but it seems like none of these limitations were still in effect.

Realizing he was still fondling Albedo, he hurriedly removed his hands from Albedo's bosom.

"Sorry, Albedo."

"Ahh…"

Albedo, who was red in the face, whimpered. This, and her rising body temperature, caused his body to also heat up. She locked eyes and shyly asked Icarus:

"Will you take my first time here?"

"Huh?!"

He was caught off guard by her question, and his mind went blank.

"Would you like me to remove my clothes?"

"…What?"

"Shall I undress myself? Or would you like to strip me, Lord Icarus? What if we did it while I was wearing my clothes... they would get dirty… but I wouldn't object, Lord Icarus."

His brain finally managed emitting smoke and he barely made sense of Albedo's words.

"Why is she acting like this? Oh... shit."

He realized the reason for Albedo's actions.

"That's enough for now, Albedo."

"Eh? I-I understand."

"Now is not the place nor time for these type of events.

"I'm sorry! I lost control of my emotions!"

But on the inside, Albedo was squealing like a child who got a bag of sweet candy.

"Lord Icarus said that now is not the place nor time, which means that there is a place and time!"

She was interrupted from her dream when her lord cleared his throat to get her attention.

"Tell all the Floor Guardians, excluding the Fourth and the Eighth Floors, to meet me at the Colosseum on the Sixth Floor in an hour. I will contact Aura and Mare myself, so there is no need for you to inform them."

"Yes, Lord Icarus."

Albedo swiftly departed the Throne Room.

As he watched her horned figure walk away with a spring in her step, he slumped on the throne and sighed. Pinching the bridge of his nose with his right pointer and thumb, he closed his eyes and thought.

"...What the flying FUCK have I just done? It was supposed to be a joke… If I'd known that I would be transporting into a video game world I wouldn't have done that."

He had changed her setting for her to be in love with him. That must be why she was acting that way.

"Shit! Tabula, I'm sorry I ruined your creation, I didn't know that this would happen."

Icarus got up and left the Throne Room. He still had Floor Guardians to meet.

AUTHORS NOTE: Well, now you know a bit about Icarus. If you can't picture him, imagine a taller Todoroki with silver hair and blue eyes who never got burned. The next chapter will be about meeting the Floor Guardians. 7/15/20
