(A.N. I just want to say a thank you to pumpkinking5 and LabyrinthDavidBowieWildcats32 for all the feedback on my stories x I hope everyone is enjoying Important Moments and let my know what you think)
Troy and Gabriella were sitting in the audience with Arabella and Aidan as they watched Isabella graduate from high school. Isabella had been one of the two school captains for her cohort and was walking up to the lecturn to give her speech.
"Good morning parents, teachers, special guests, students and most importantly, the graduating class of 2021. Our time at school has been a rollercoaster filled with highs, lows, twists and turns and now we've made it to the final straight. Today we are graduating and there are a few people that must be thanked for that, starting with our teachers. We wouldn't be where we are without you and each and everyone one of you has impacted a student in one way or another. Whether it was in class, in the courtyard or simply by association, the students adore and are grateful to each and every one of you.
The next thank you is to our parents. Through all the moody teenage years and the seemingly never ending assessment, I know that a group of 17 and 18 year olds can be difficult to deal with so thank you for your patience and never ending support for us, we wouldn't have made it through without you. And I want to take a few seconds to thank my parents."
Isabella's eyes eyes connected with her parents; Gabriella's tear-filled brown orbs and Troy's pride filled blues. "Mom, Dad, I don't think I can ever thank you enough for everything you have done for me. I don't feel like I tell you enough how much I love and appreciate everything you have done for me. I can only imagine how tough it would have been for you guys and I'll be forever grateful for all you have given me. I love you."
"To all our siblings and special people in our lives, you may not even realise the impact you have on us, but we do and we appreciate you. I know that when I felt like everything was getting too much and I was drowning under all the stress of senior year, I'd come home and have my little sister hug me, asking for a movie night and falling asleep beside me or my little brother running to me and hugging me whenever I visit him in prep or when I came home. Sometimes it's the littlest ones can make the most difference without even realising it."
"Now to the class of '21. It's crazy to think that we began the year as seniors and now, we're closing this chapter of our lives. Whether you've been here since day one in kindy or have come along the way, this is our cohort and we're finishing this together. I want to conclude my speech by repeating the words of my dad's senior graduation speech because I feel this message reigns true for our cohort: Whether we see each other today, tomorrow, in a month, a year or even at our ten year reunion, this will always be our cohort and that bond ties us together. Regardless of how we know each other, whether we keep in touch or what happens next in our lives, this is our cohort and you always have a friend here. Congratulations class of 2021, I wish each and every one of you the best of luck. Thank you."
The ceremony concluded and Isabella walked over to her parents, her mother immediately pulling her into a hug. Gabriella tried her best to not let the tears fall as she held her first daughter who wasn't so little anymore. "Congratulations Baby Girl, I'm so proud of you."
Isabella noticed the tears in her mother's eyes and smiled softly. "Thanks Mama, I love you."
"I love you too Bella."
She looked over to her dad and saw that he was beaming proudly. She ran into his arms – which somewhat surprised him, he knew she was fine with it at home, he just wasn't sure about school – and hugged him tightly, which was returned by Troy. "Thank you Daddy, I love you."
"I love you too my Angel, I'm so proud of you Bella, you'll never know how much."
Isabella smiled before she heard a sniffle, she looked over to see tears streaming down both Arabella and Aidan's face. She pulled them both into her arms. "Ari, Aidy, what's wrong?"
Arabella spoke up. "You're not going to be at school anymore."
Isabella sighed and hugged her siblings tighter. "I know Bubba, I won't be at school anymore but you'll still see me and I know that you and Aidy are going to be ok, I promise. You'll have Holly, Kaylee, Max and Liam, you'll be just fine Ari."
Aidan whimpered. "I'm going to miss you Bella."
She kissed the top of the boy's head. "It's only during school time Kiddo, you'll still get to see me at home. You and Tessa can have fun playing at school and I'll come pick you up after you finish or Mommy and Daddy will and I'll see you when you get home. I'll still be around Aidy." They only hugged her tighter and she looked at her parents helplessly.
Gabriella took Arabella from her arms and Isabella held Aidan as Troy wrapped his arms around them. Troy hugged his family tightly. "I know it's different guys, but it will be ok. Bella loves you very much and she'll always be there if you need her."
Arabella and Aidan looked at her and she nodded. "Ari, I'll be at all your dance concerts and performances and anything you guys have at school. You too Aidy, if you decide to play sport or go in the arts or whatever you choose, I'll be there too Bud."
Gabriella smiled sadly. "It won't change too much guys, everything will be ok. How about we go celebrate Bella's graduation? Where do you wanna go Baby Girl?"
She looked at her younger siblings. "Where do you guys wanna go?" They whispered in her ear and she smiled. "Ok, Mom can we go to the diner?" When Gabriella nodded, the younger children cheered, making their older sister smile. At that moment, she made a promise to herself, that she'd be there for her younger brother and sister, just like her parents were. She promised that she'd be there for all the important moments.
