Chapter Two

"I AM HERE, I AM HERE, IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP, WHY FOR I AM HERE." He groaned his own voice was dam annoying in the morning, he smashed the top of his alarm clock and took a brief shower before putting on his hero suit, he'd have to call up his old support team he supposed. He bounded into the sky and stared at a group of villains foolish enough to add early morning larceny to their early morning commute, he captured them easily and returned the stolen property, but he was nearly late for class by the time he was done. He picked up ten breakfast burritos from three specialty markets in order not to take them all and rushed off to class, eating one of the burritos as he went. His first class stared at him and he swallowed, before sitting at his desk just as the bell rang.

"You were on the news." The boy said and he smiled.

"A hero's work is never done, please pass your papers this way, this is GE Class 1 A right?"

"Yes sir." Agoyamoto said and he nodded.

"Well then can you wait a moment while I finish breakfast?" He asked. "Work on your other work from other classes." He added and started eating, he finished in twenty minutes and realized several of the students were staring at him.

"Can you unhinge your jaw sir?" Agoyamoto asked and he laughed.

"No young Agoyamoto, I cannot unhinge my jaw, I just had to eat quickly." He said and smiled. "How about this, food is allowed in my class, as long as you don't spill on the ground or tables."

"Really sir?" Agoyamoto asked and Toshi smiled.

"Yes really." He said and stretched his arms. "Now what were we covering?"

"Today is supposed to be a support day sir." Chiikuchi said and he nodded.

"You just missed getting into the support class, didn't you Chikuchi?"

"Yes Sir, I hope to make it in at the end of the year, several of Class one C and class One D have washed out sir."

"I see well you have a chance, if you can manage to pass, there is however fierce competition." He said and shrugged. "People have become heroes and hero support while in general studies."

"Sidekicks you mean." Shinso said and he sighed.

"There's no shame in being a sidekick, but no I mean pros, like Eraserhead, he wasn't in hero courses until midway through his second year. Most heroes are sidekicks or work together in teams when they first start out. I worked on a team when I first started with a talented support student in America. You should never underestimate others young Shinsho." He said and then started talking about hero support knowing he was losing half the class and half the class was hanging on his every word. He finished the lecture and then sighed he'd have to talk to Nezdu about getting more classes he could do so much more for the students than he was currently.

He went back to the teacher's lounge and sat in the overstuffed armchair reading a book, he had class the next hour so there wasn't enough time to go out. The book was on the Crimson Flash and was interesting he was so engaged in fact that he nearly didn't hear the bell ring. He set down the book, marking his place with a bookmark from his bag and setting it in his locker, before bounding to the cafeteria. He grabbed ten bento boxes, before rushing off to his heroics class, it would be his favorite class and today he'd have them doing strength and endurance training.

"Today we are going to Gym E, it's not being used at the moment." He said and the class got up together. "I suggest you change into your athletic gear in the dorms." He added. "I expect you in twenty minutes, that should be enough time for you to get changed, if you make me wait thirty minutes, I will give you one demerit for every five minutes you make the class wait."

"It's only a two-hour class Sir." Iida said.

"Yes, and Gym E is across campus, its why it's not in use right now." He said and the students groaned. "I will meet you there, do come quickly." He added and bounded to the gym, fifteen of his students made it within the first twenty minutes, three moved into the gym by thirty-five minutes and two barely made it within forty minutes. "Right now, you are going to be split into three groups, half the class has already started, those that came late will stay late. You will be running laps for the remainder of this class, you will not be using your quirks you may take breaks of no more than five minutes and you will come over here to do so." He said and settled in the grass doing push-ups, no one took breaks except for Mineta. Toshinori blew on his whistle once five minutes had passed and Mineta struggled to run.

"I can't do it."

"Everyone else can Mineta, now go." Toshi said and blew his whistle again, Mineta started running again but stopped within two laps. "Mineta, you just took a break."

"But it's hard."

"Hero work is hard, keep going." Toshi said and he started forward again, he watched as Mineta stumbled and fell his eyes filling with tears.

"I can't do it!" Mineta said beating the ground theatrically.

"Then you're out of the program."

"What?" Mineta demanded and Toshi sighed.

"Hero work requires endurance, there are several students that wish to move into support, one will take your place and you will go to general studies, until such a time as I see improvement, both in your attitude and demeanor. If you are able to run the full hour and twenty minutes without complaint or breaks, you will be allowed back into the program and I will personally add a spot to the roster, but you are slowing down the rest of the class, moreover you have put your classmates into danger multiple times and although you have helped them, the risk is not worth the hope that you will suddenly gain courage and confidence in your abilities. This is your last day in the program, either transfer to GE class One A or leave the program."

"I'll transfer to GE, I'll show you I can be a hero."

"I'll believe it when I see it, now leave my sight." Toshi stated and Mineta ran from the field crying, the other students stared at him. "Now continue." He said and they started running again.

"Will we be kicked out as quickly sir?" Iida demanded.

"You show more promise than he did, but he gave up, if I see you give up or give in, on a task I assign you, I will not be pleased. Whether or not that displeasure will result in your leaving the program and going to GE remains to be seen. I do however expect that you will not fail a task I assign you, I don't even expect you to do it well, I just expect you to do it. Those that give up at the first sign of hardship would never make it as heroes. I could not truly train you to the degree you all deserve, that changes today." He said and they continued to run as he continued to do pushups until the bell rang. However, no one stopped, they continued to run for a further fifteen minutes until he blew on his whistle. "Stop now, you have done well." He said and smiled at them all but Midoriya collapsed. "I am proud of you for completing the final laps with Koda, it was not necessary but I am proud that you would not leave your classmate to finish alone."

Koda stared at him in surprise and he smiled reassuringly at the boy. "Your talent isn't in running no one should blame him for being late, he doesn't have the ability to augment his speed like you do." He patted the boy on the back and smiled at the class. "Get water, I will be back momentarily."

He jumped into the air and bounded to the cafeteria, Lunch Rush stared at him as he shoved seventy sandwiches into seven bags and was off again, he smiled at the students and set down his groceries, he handed the smallest bag to Koda, who looked at him gratefully and signed his thanks. "Dig in, I'll eat whatever you don't.' He said and went back to his normal form, before he started running, the students ate and watched as he ran laps, until they had finished, he then grabbed up the largest bag and continued running. "I will not ask of you anything that I will not do myself." He said and smiled at them, eating as he ran, he finished the bag and checked his watch. "Your next class is in thirty minutes, I suggest you start back now, I will speak to Aizawa." He said. "Your class will have to be one of study I'm afraid, we can't have you over extending yourselves." He added and they nodded, too tired to talk they would doubtless collapse into their chairs, he doubted that some would manage to stay awake through the entire class. He bounded to Aizawa and the man eyed him.

"Let me guess you want some favor from me?"

"Just let them do homework today, I had them doing endurance training and I wouldn't be surprised if some fell asleep, please just let them. I had to move Mineta to general studies."

"Very well, I could use the rest myself." Aizawa said and All Might smiled, bounding back to his students he caught up with Iida and had them go through stretches together, they were fifteen minutes late and he lead them on a run to the class, they dropped into their seats exhausted, Aizawa was already curled into his sleeping bag and snoring softly, Toshi took the desk glad he had this period off for once and pillowed his head in his hands, he was snoring within moments. Most of the class soon fell asleep save for Midoriya Iida and Todoroki, as well as dark shadow who coiled protectively around the sleeping Fumikage.

"Do you want to do Fumi's homework?" Midoriya asked and Dark Shadow got out the math book, together they worked through the problems and Midoriya stretched after they were done. "I'm going to sleep for forty minutes; our next class is in this room." He said and closed his eyes pillowing his head on his arms, soon everyone was asleep, Midnight opened the door to her classroom and blinked in shock, she wondered for a moment if she'd inadvertently used her quirk.

However, a note was scrawled on the board, apparently for some reason Aizawa's class had become a quiet study session. She had a feeling this had something to do with Toshi who was snoring loudly, she wished that she could leave them to sleep but she couldn't. She clapped her hands loudly and several of the students groaned lifting their heads. "Art History class will start in five minutes, wake your classmates." She said and all the students roused the other students as she woke Toshi, he groaned luckily rather than coming awake fighting as some heroes did.

"Whazzit?" He asked and she laughed.

"The new period has begun I believe you have the General Ed Students class One A."

Toshi groaned, shaking his head back and forth, before he transformed and bounded off to general studies. He stood in front of the class hands on his hips. "An opportunity has presented itself for those who wish to go beyond, to be greater than they have been. To be a part of the heroics class, if you are joining class One A or Class One B remains to be determined but a spot has opened up and one will join one of those classes, I will determine which one with a heroic battle. You will attempt to save the support portion of general studies. Now might I have some volunteers to play our citizens?" The students he expected raised their hands and he nodded, before he went with them to the BSJ.

"You will take it in turns and be in teams of three, however I choose what part of the BSJ your training will be held in."All Might said and divided the support students. "You to the ruins, you to the landslide, you to the mountains and you to the Conflagration zone, you to the flood zone and finally you to the downpour zone." He said and turned to the other students. "Now what are your teams, stand besides those that you would have as rivals or as friends, it's up to you how you proceed but only one may advance."

"Can I go on my own?" Shinsho asked.

"Of course, but I'll be using noise canceling headphones." All Might said and he stared at him, before nodding.

"Where do you want me?"

"The conflagration zone, you will go there and wait for me." All Might said and sorted the other students. They did well but they were not the ones he felt had the most potential if Shinsho failed his test, the one with the best score would take his place in the heroics class but he doubted that Shinsho would fail. He found the boy on a high tower above the flame, within a hundred yards of his classmates. "I expect more of you, you are most likely going to be the one I choose, but you must leave no doubt my boy." He said and turned on the noise counseling ear buds, he bounded down and stood before the support students. "I doubt you can bring these civilians safely out of the fire without having to battle me." He stated and Shinsho nodded, instantly he asked questions, only two of his classmates responded. "Bad luck there, so I assume you wish to work with me, I'll allow it." He said and the students joined him. "You cannot harm your classmates, only impede their progress."

"What about after they are clear?" Shinsho asked. "Do I have to bring the others by force?" He asked and All Might nodded, he frowned and shrugged, it made no difference to him the determination was clear on his face. The ones he controlled started for the exit avoiding the flames, the others got in their way and started fighting them, they fought in turn, Shinsho yelling orders, the boy was fighting three battles simultaneously with his puppets. Moreover, he defeated all his classmates, having the others drag them towards the exit. "Do I need to fight you as well?"

"Judo and Krav Maga?" All Might asked and Shinsho nodded. "How aren't you in heroics?"

"Because we were fighting robots and I would not stop the progress of another even at the cost to myself." Shinsho said. "I have my code, I have been in classes since the age of five, but I do not use it if I don't have to."

"You should have informed us."

"I was waiting until you saw merit in my talents, I knew you would eventually there was no need to inform you." He said and smiled at him. "I take it that I passed then?"

"You passed, you are as of now in Class One A." Toshi said and moved from the simulation joint, he went to the teachers' lounge crossed out Mineta's name on the roster and added Shinsho's.

"So, we're not putting it up for vote, this boy is being put into the program without a vote, you only get one of every five years." Aizawa said. "What makes him worthy?"

"He's an MMA fighter." Toshi stated and Aizawa stared at him in shock. "He's clearly a blackbelt in judo and Krav Maga.

"You need not waste your one spot, he gets in." Aizawa said and smiled.

"You're going to make his life hell aren't you?"

"You know it, he's a problem child in a group of problem children, of course I'll keep him guessing but I don't know why you are turning into the hero courses least favorite teacher."

"Because they need to be trained to have better endurance, I'm going to talk to Nezdu about giving me ten three-hour blocks for endurance training for the heroic course students."

"Three hours?"

"Two hours to train and one to rest, because there's no way they will be in any shape to do more than that, we can rotate between mornings and afternoons." All Might state. "It needs to be done and I can do it, by graduation they will be able to hold their own without the typical burn out new Pros experience."

"I see, I will ask. that Nezdu give your request some credence on behalf of my students." Aizawa said and Toshi stuck his thumb up.

"Ask Nezdu what?" Nezdu asked.

"I want to make some changes to the curriculum I want each hero course to take hero training twice weekly with me." Toshi said. "I'll need three hours and it would be in addition to my other teaching."

"That instruction would be invaluable I trust that you will have guest lecturers?" Nezdu said and Toshi shrugged.

"In time, for now I have to get them used to the workouts before they can join in, I'll take Gym E and I'll need the standard weights and punching bags."

"Very well, I will add it to the schedule starting tomorrow." He said and Toshi nodded. "Who are you adding to the roster?"

"Hitoshi Shinso won the spot." Tori said and smiled at Nezdu. "He is a young man that has a code, I respect that more over I respect his martial art abilities and his ability to control three people at once, possibly more and give them personal instruction."

"He's that strong."

"I've never met a stronger Mesmer and that's saying something. If I didn't know better I'd say that he came from a hero family."

"You never know, young heroes are pretty wild."

"That's true." Toshinori said. "I know I was in my youth at any rate I should be getting to the One A dorm." He said and bounded off, he arrived just in time, Mineta was sobbing as he packed his bags and Shinsho was already waiting with a shabby duffle.

"I suggest that you wait elsewhere, your room will be ready soon enough." Toshinori said and Shinsho nodded. "Might I suggest going to the gym, it's on the third floor."

"Thank you." Shinsho said and Toshinori nodded, he watched the boy leave.

He then walked away himself, it was better to leave Mineta to pack alone, the pride of youngsters was a fragile thing. He sighed and rubbed his head, then he heard Izuku's voice and followed it to Izuku's room.

"I'm doing well Mom, though one of my classmates was forced to leave the program today..."

"Izuku there is something I need to tell you..." The woman on the other end of the phone said and Toshinori stopped outside the door. "Your father isn't your father, I was a bit wild as a young adult in college, I had a boyfriend..."

"A boyfriend, what do you mean Dad isn't my Dad?" Izuku looked puzzled.

"Your father is a man named Toshinori Yagi, he was in the heroics division while I was in hero support. I had to drop out when I got pregnant with you, he was so brave and smart, I knew he'd be a great hero, if he didn't have me holding him back. Your father had always cared about me and agreed to pretend to be your father."

"What?"

"I also put you on quirk suppressants as a child to protect you, I don't know how it developed anyway." She said. "I didn't want this for you, to constantly be in danger, but I can't stop you from your chosen path. I love you and hope that you will come to forgive me in time."

"How could you Mom?" Izuku demanded and hung up the phone he ran from the room and stared at Toshinori who stared back at him. "Did you know?"

"No, if I had known, I would have found some way of both marrying your mother and pursuing my dreams. However, I wonder how the kind girl I knew could do such a thing. The only thing that I could think of is that she wished to protect us both." Toshinori stated and Izuku stared at him in shock. "My life isn't an easy one, you know that, nor is being a hero an easy path, though I don't understand her actions, she did it in order to protect you as she said."

"How is taking my powers from me, protecting me." Midoriya demanded. "Who knows what it could be." He added.

"Well we will take you to Recovery Girl." He said and they walked together to the nurse's office in silence. "Young Midoriya has been taking quirk suppressants, he didn't know he was taking them and I need you to help him get off of them."

"Of course." Recovery Girl said and got out a gigantic needle. "Stay still." She ordered and Midoriya whimpered as she gave him the shot. Then she gave him three more shots, before the last one which would knock him out, Toshinori caught him before he touched the ground and set him in the cot. "Would it be alright if I stayed."

"Of course." Recovery Girl said and he managed to cram himself into the armchair by the bed, he took Midoriya's hand in his own, as the boy started to moan in pain, he wished he could take the pain from him, he knew it was agony to come off of suppressants.

He didn't know how long he sat down, watching Midoriya before his eyes started to get heavy, he wouldn't leave his son though not when he had missed so much of the boy's life. He resisted the urge to sleep fighting against his tiredness, but the day caught up to him and soon enough his head kept falling to his chin. He resisted his need for sleep before he succumbed, his head falling forward onto the bed as he fell asleep.
