"Hi, my name is Sarah Whitacker, I'm calling for the advertisement."
"Great! You're the first one so far. We value kindness and honesty, but even so I'd like to know if you have any related experience."
"Well ever since my 18th birthday- that was three years ago- I've worked in different houses and companies, travelling around the world to wherever people needed me."
"That's wonderful. My name's Emily, I'm Billy's daughter-in-law. We all live together here so most of the time it's pretty hectic. You think you can handle that?" "It shouldn't be a problem ma'am."
"Wonderful, why don't you drop by and then we'll see how it goes."
"That sounds great! I can be there by two."
"That's settled. Ow if you come from Forks highroad it's the 3rd exit and once you've passed the mailbox it's another ten minute drive."
"Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. See you in an hour." "Bye miss Whitacker."
Mud splashed against the side of the old but comfortable jeep. Sarah had made herself look somewhat presentable, but not too fancy. It was warm outside so she rolled the window down and let the breeze cool her off. She loved the sounds of nature. All too soon she stumbled upon the house.
"Hi! You must be Billy, unless you like to ride a wheelchair for fun."
Billy Black laughed, happy that his new caretaker wasn't a dull, old woman, but a youthful girl who had a sense of humor and didn't see his handicap as something nasty. "Got that right, miss Whitacker. Emily should be in the kitchen. We can go around the back."
She followed him along the wobbly path, but noticed the threshold was specially made for him so that he could easily leave and access the house.
"Hello Sarah. I hope you didn't get lost?"
"No ma'am. No problems. It think it's very peaceful to live here."
"Where do you come from?"
"I eh…I grew up in different cities, mostly noisy, boring,… but you get used to moving so much."
"Well then you'll certainly love it here." Billy smiled.
"What, you mean I can stay?"
"My gut's telling me you'll do just fine. Emily will explain the tasks to you and then you can come to an agreement."
Emily explained Billy's situation and how the house worked. "So in short; he's like a child that needs company, but also a nurse to do the practical stuff: washing, toilet, … Billy is able to dress himself and he can get in and out of bed on his own." "Great." "If you need any help, I'm always there, but most of the time I'm cooking or doing laundry for the boys. You'll meet them later. That's about it. I take it you're driving back to get some luggage?"
"I am, but I won't be long."
"Good. Take care!" she yelled, waving.
"Billy, what's going on?" Paul asked as soon as she had left.
"Call in the others for a moment."
Once they were all gathered he coughed to get their attention. "I've decided to hire a caretaker. You're all strong and independent boys, but I no longer want to take up your time, especially the ones who found their mate. This way I'll have someone at my disposal. Plus Emily gets to spend more time on her own." "You know this is dangerous." Sam spoke up as Alfa "Think about the consequences."
"Dad you of all should know how dangerous it is." Embry piped in, followed by Quil "What if she catches us in a bad moment?"
"We'll make sure she's accompanied by one of us when she wishes to take a walk. Besides you're not supposed to transform in the back yard. And I have a feeling about her.."
"Feeling or not. We should be extra cautious."
"Just make her feel welcome."
