The screaming tone must have been a commanding scream because the creatures behind him are growling and eyeing the prince. As they heard the growl of the huge monster, they set their eyes on the man facing them and going for the kill.
"What a drag...", Grey said at the end as he launches towards them, and clash between both sides began.
End of Previous Chapter
The little snowman riding Reyv to go back to the castle as told by Grey. As they ran fastly, Olaf told everyone to go to the castle. He have to evacuate everyone. A huge monster is coming their way. If no one will warn them, then, they'll be caught up in the mess.
"Everyone, to the castle now. Scary monsters are heading our way. Hurry.", the white snowman screamed loudly to warn everyone.
The people became alarmed and panic started to arise. They pack some small stuffs and running towards the castle. As they ran outside, they noticed a swarm of flying creatures just at the port. They ran for their lives and evacuated towards the castle where the snow queen is currently in.
Castle of Arendelle.
The rays of the sun entered the windows of the room. The sleeping royals lightly woke up. The fifth spirit opened her eyes slowly and noticed that she's on the bed covered with a blanket where Grey slept last night and no sign of the prince can be seen and so is the little spirit wolf.
"What am I doing in the bed? Where is Grey?", Elsa said. She looked around the room to look for the traces of the two but they are completely gone.
"Where are they?", the awaked Queen asked. The blonde guy also now wide awake by the noise.
"I don't know. When I woke up, they're just gone...and so is Olaf.", Elsa replied when she realized the talking snowman is gone too.
"Maybe they are just outside the castle, taking a little tour.", Kristoff answered them.
"Maybe you're right.", the fifth spirit said.
"How are you feeling, Kristoff?", Anna asked him while stroking his shoulders.
"I've been better. Thank you, Anna.", he replied.
"That's good to hear.", Elsa commented. The moment was interrupted by the chaos outside the window.
The people in the castle were alarmed with the commotion outside the gates. People were approaching the gates shouting for entry. Elsa saw a familiar figure of the snowman and riding a spirit wolf.
"Is that...Olaf?", she thought.
They went to the balcony of the room to take a look of the situation. When they did, they saw shadow figures of the creatures in the sky. They can't clearly see it but they know something is up.
"Let us in. Something is coming.", a citizen said.
"...Help us, your majesty. We need you..."
"..Please help us.."
"Open the Gates.", Olaf said to the official guards guarding the gates of the castle.
"Open the Gates! Let them pass.", the Queen declared loudly. The guards heard the order of Queen Anna and obliged as ordered. The gates opened and people started to go in.
Elsa hurriedly went outside of the castle to ask Olaf what's going on. The Queen and her future husband also did the same and followed her.
"He must know something, for sure.", she thought.
"Elsa, Anna...Kristoff! I'm so glad to see you." Olaf excitedly said to the familiar faces.
"What's happening, Olaf?", Anna asked the talking snowman.
"There.. are.. monsters... portal.. open... Grey... is... huge.. swarm... creatures...", Olaf said incoherently because he doesn't know where to begin.
"Calmed down, Olaf. Say it slowly, so we can understand.", Anna said to the little snowman.
"I...don't..know...what's..where...", Olaf continued.
"Its okay, Olaf. Just tell us, you can do it.", the fifth spirit calmly urged him. The snowman seemed to calm himself down and narrated the recent events to the people in front of him. He took a deep breath before talking.
"Right. So Grey and I were having a tour in the kingdom, we were having fun, telling stories and stuff. Everything was normal but then a portal just appeared at the port on the waters and a little later, a huge monster came out and just hurled a large mace towards us. Then there is a large swarm of scary flying creatures at the back of the big monster. Its scary out there. Grey is...Grey is... fighting all of them on his own. He told me to warn you about what's happening." Olaf said sadly at the end.
"What? He's fighting all alone?", the blonde woman asked with a horrified face.
"Yes, he immediately sent me back with Reyv when he fought the large monster.", Olaf answered.
"We have to help him...I have to help him. I can't just leave him there.", Elsa said with a determined tone. She then proceeded to run towards the gate of the castle.
Before Elsa could approached to the gates, Reyv stopped the fifth spirit by blocking her way.
"What's the matter, Reyv? Let me through.", Elsa said to the spirit wolf. She tried to maneuver her way out but the wolf won't let her pass.
"Maybe, he wants you to stay here, Elsa.", Anna told her sister.
"I completely agree with him, Elsa. It's too dangerous." Kristoff supported her fiance.
"That's ridiculous. I have to go to him.", Elsa replied.
The fifth spirit stepped to the side but the stubborn wolf won't let her through, as if, he plans to make her stay in this place. When Elsa forced herself for the right of way, Reyv jumped in front of her and slightly growled at her.
"What?...why won't you let me pass, Reyv?", Elsa asked and annoyed by the magical beast's action. When Reyv heard her asked, he stopped his growling, stood still, and turned his head to the people in the grounds of the castle. The fifth spirit followed his gaze and slightly understood his intentions.
"Maybe, he wants you to protect everyone in here, Elsa, that's why he's stopping you from going. I think Grey would want that too.", Olaf said what he thought about the wolf's actions.
"Is that...true?", Elsa asked facing the the huge wolf. Reyv barked once in response. She seemed unsure and hesitated about the situation but she gave in with the Reyv's implications.
"Alright. I'll stay here.", Elsa said to them. But the worry in her face can be easily painted.
The fifth spirit didn't waste any second and enclosed the walls of the castle with huge thick walls of ice and covered it with an ice dome patterned with her signature snowflakes. It covers almost all parts of the castle. This made everyone awed in response to the amazing powers of the former queen. They evacuated everyone inside the castle.
On the other hand, the Queen assembled soldiers on the ground to protect the people of Arendelle.
"Ring the bell.", the queen announced to assemble the Arendellian soldiers. The bell rang with a signal to prepare for war. It wasn't long and they gathered around the area.
There were more than a hundred of them in the castle grounds ready to take the enemy, equipped with their sharp metal swords and mighty shields. General Mattias stood in front of the soldiers and boosting their morale.
".. A swarm of monsters are heading our way. We know nothing about them which puts us in disadvantage. We've never been in war with these things..and...We could die today..but we will die with honor in protecting Arendelle. Stood still. Grip your swords tightly. Protect the Queen at all cost...FOR ARENDELLE!", the general screamed loudly.
"FOR ARENDELLE!", the soldiers shouted in response. They struck their shields with their sword loudly indicating they are ready to take the enemy.
"Thank you, General Mattias.", the queen said.
"No worries, your majesty. It is our duty to protect you and the royal family. Leave this to us.", the general replied while kneeling on one knee before the Queen of the kingdom.
Arendelle has never been in war especially in the reign of the two princesses. The two Royals know nothing about war, but they are aware and determined to protect everyone in the kingdom. Everything was in peace during their term. However, now, they are facing a grave threat and war with an army they know a little about. Swarm of monsters and demons heading their away. They can't be more thankful to Prince Grey is there for them, protecting and risking his life for them from these danger.
"Let us help you, your majesty.", the elder troll appeared and told the royal family. The rest of the trolls gathered behind him.
"Thank you, Pabbie. But I don't want all of you to get hurt from this. Let us protect you.", Elsa said to the trolls.
"It's alright, your majesty. If those demons succeed in invading our world, there would be nothing left to protect.", Pabbie replied sadly. The fifth spirit seemed to realize the gravity of the situation and made a sad and worried expression.
"Alright, Pabbie. We appreciate your help.", the Queen replied.
"Elsa..", the fifth spirit heard her name blurted by her dear sister. She realized that she was beyond anxious and started to freak out. They never experienced this.
"It's okay, Anna. We do this together. We'll continue to do things together. We can do this. Like always.", Elsa assured her sister, holding her hand, and gave her a hug. The queen gestured in response and hugged her sister back tightly.
"Me too!", the little snowman announced excitedly to the two.
"Come here, Olaf.", the fifth spirit smiled and urged him to come forth and extending a free hand to the white snowman.
After a few moments, they were interrupted by a fake cough by a certain armored knight.
"Ahem."
When they broke the hug, they were met by a blonde guy wearing a light armor, equipped with a sword and shield, at the same time, riding a proud reindeer.
"Kristoff!", they said at the same time.
"Well, I figured out I would need this. Its better if we come prepared. Don't worry, I'll protect you.", he said to his beloved and the people near her.
"You look like a real knight, Kristoff...and you...Sven you look outstanding, as always.", Olaf declared and admiring the two, making a little chuckle at the end. The two sisters smiled at the snowman's gesture.
Elsa looked beyond the gates and gazed at the port where the area is getting a little darker from the swarm of monsters. She was worried for the prince where he's all alone in the frontlines of the battle.
"Please be safe, Grey.", the fifth spirit added to the back of her mind and prayed for the prince's safety, holding her hands above her chest.
"Its okay, Elsa. He's gonna be fine.", Anna told her sister.
"I really hope so."
Arendelle. Port Area.
The silver-white haired prince stood his ground facing countless monsters. He doesn't seem afraid dealing with the huge numbers of enemies but he's bothered with the hooded white figure standing on the flying creature. He can't see his face because of the hood covering his face. Grey is surrounded by hideous demonic monsters. They are eyeing him and prepares to attack.
"Tsk. This is quite troublesome. This has to happen when I haven't fully recovered my powers.", he thought. He turned his gaze on the hooded figure in the sky.
"Who are you?", he loudly declared and standing firmly. However, he didn't get any form of response from the guy.
After a few seconds, the hooded guy raised his hand above his head, and a blinding light appeared. It made a sense of familiarity to Grey. Grey focused on the the light, it dim down a little and there he saw an insignia on his hand. Its not exactly the same as the crest on his forehand but its familiar to him.
"Don't tell me...he's the same as me...", Grey mentally thought.
"Tell me, why do you have a King's Crest?", he commanded an answer and stared at him with a cold glare.
"You probably know that, Grey Neverfallen. Since you also possess a King's Crest, yourself. We are the chosen ones to rule this world. It's our destiny. Come, join me. We'll conquer this world.", the hooded guy made a maniacal and evil laugh when he finished.
"This guy is bad news.", Grey made a mental note.
"Thanks for the offer but I completely refuse. I won't join someone who allied himself with demons." Grey made a battling stance and raised his sword when his opponent gave off an unfriendly vibe. He can see the darkness enveloping him, although he's the only who can sense it.
"How do you know me?", this made Grey a little frustrated because this guy knows him.
"You will never know because you refused to know it. You refused to see it.", the hooded guy replied.
"This guy... I also know him..I've met him before..but where...when?", Grey thought deeper to himself as he recalled his memories of the past.
"Fine. If you won't join us, then just DIE HERE!", Grey's enemy declared and raised his hand forward commanding his minions to attack. The flying bat-like creatures and huge monster infront of him commenced to attack the prince.
Grey gripped his sword more tightly and prepared himself for the incoming attacks. The flying creatures attacked him and one by one Grey evaded them by jumping around, and striking them at their blindspots. His first priority is to lessen the numbers of his enemies. He kept downing their numbers.
Grey was fighting all around. He didn't miss the fact that the hooded figure is waving his hand as if he was controlling the demonic creatures.
"So that is the ability of your King's Crest, to manipulate demonic creatures. How interesting. However, you won't be able to kill me with that.", Grey taunt the hooded guy.
"Shut up. You won't be able to run your mouth for long. You're gonna die soon enough. Plus, you're not my objective. I'm here to clean up after Armad. That demon got deceived by a mere troll's magic.", the guy raised his hand commanded the huge monster to attack Grey.
"So he allied himself with the demon of the Apocalypse.", Grey realized.
"Sorry, but this place is under my wing. I can't let you do as you please.", he declared with very serious eyes.
Grey saw the incoming attack. The huge monster slam his hand towards him. The prince evaded it by jumping fastly to the side. The monster was annoyed with him jumping around and went havoc. He used his giant mace and swung it around violently. Grey kept sprinting around to evade the attacks. When Grey was about to get hit by an attack of the huge monster. He twisted himself up in the air and cut one of its hands. The monster screamed in pain.
The prince launched towards the huge monster and it didn't notice him. He immediately kicked its face strongly that the monster was scraped and dragged to the surface of the waters where Grey's kick was headed.
"Is that all your creatures can do?", Grey told the hooded guy.
"Hmph, that was expected of you as one who possess the King's Crest. However, don't be so full of yourself because you manage to land a hit on him. Grantur stand up and kill him already. Do it.", his opponent declared.
The huge monster stood up and growled with a deafening sound that can be heard all though out the kingdom of Arendelle. Its hand just regenerated and look good as new. The people in the castle grounds heard it and was afraid of the loud growl.
"It can heal as well, huh? How annoying." Grey said.
Grantur's body turned dark as if it was amassing a dark energy. Grey's eyes widened by what he's witnessing and prepared himself for whats coming. The monster finished amassing his dark power and immediately it vanished before Grey's eyes.
"..it disappeared?", Grey thought. He was surprised when the monster appeared directly infront of him and was about to punch him.
"Crap. Guard...I won't make... it in time.", the prince said to himself then he was sent flying with the massive punch and landed on an arendellian ship. The ship was wrecked when the prince landed on it.
"Hmph. I leave this to you Grantur. Finish him quickly. I must finish what Armad started. Later, foolish prince.", just like that the hooded figure left the area and approaching the castle bringing some of the remaining flying bat-like creatures.
"ah, that hurts... Wait, come back here!", Grey wounded from the attack and have a bruise all over his body. He shouted to stop the hooded figure from leaving. He stood up not minding the pain and launched himself towards him but Grantur took a hold of his foot when he did.
"Damn it.", Grey cursed.
Grantur just growled with menace and spin the prince up in the air and hurled her towards the wrecked ship.
"You're persistent. Fine, enough playing around.", Grey borrowed mana around the area to accelerate his physical limits. He focused and mana is slowly gathering towards him. He can only depend on his combat abilities because his flames are out.
This time Grantur sprinted towards him and the prince did the same and creating waves in the waters. Their physical abilities are almost equal, but Grantur is slightly higher. Grey kept tried slicing the monster's exposed and joint areas. He tried to cut on the monsters shoulders but he was just sent back.
"What a tough skin. I can feel the recoil of my attacks." Grey said.
The monster just growled loudly at him not letting him pass. Once again, Grantur is amassing dark energy that his skin is turning thicker and darker. His pair of horns just sprouted and grew bigger on the monster's head. Just by standing there, Grey can feel the dense dark magic possessed by the monster infront of him. His body is still aching all over when he received the attack earlier.
"Tsk. I am really in deep trouble. I have to hurry, Elsa and the others are in danger."
Castle of Arendelle.
ELSA'S POV
The people in the castle grounds prepared themselves for what's coming. I can hear loudly the growls all the way coming from the ports. The ground shook lightly from the battle happening the area. This made me and everyone more anxious. My mind is filled with worry about the prince when he's fighting these demons on his own.
"Please be all right, Grey.", I prayed for his well being and hold my hands together near my chest.
The soldiers were at the forefront in the gates. I enclosed the castle with thick walls of ice to cover everyone.
"This should be enough.", I said to myself.
We were shocked and suprised when the gates just exploded and the soldiers were thrown away from the explosion. I ran towards it and immediately put out the fire.
"Help them", the Queen announced which their fellow soldiers obliged.
Bat-like creatures shot fireballs towards the gate. The gate was destroyed and the guards of the castle assembled near the area. Swarm of flying creatures entered the castle grounds.
I shoot ice blasts at them one by one. My powers are highly effective against them. The soldiers formed in groups to slay the creatures which they managed really well.
"We can do this. I can protect everyone.", Elsa thought positively. She continued freezing the dark creatures who's terrorizing the kingdom.
Third Person POV
However, war in between two opposing sides can turn the tables in one swift move. The white hooded figure appeared riding his flying demon creature. He ordered his demons to gather above the castle grounds. The surroundings turned dark because of the shadows emanating the area. Then, he conjured dark balls of energy in the skies by raising his hand forward. With that, the hooded figure hurled the dark balls of energy towards them.
The fifth spirit noticed this and conjured ice shields for everyone. She waved her hands where the attacks are headed and use her ice magic to receive the attacks. Elsa managed to received most of them, some of it just exploded when it hit the ground. Thankfully, no one was there during the explosions.
"That was close.", Elsa said to herself. The people beside her cheered by what she did. It was amazing feat.
"Heh, an elemental spirit. I didn't knew one exist in this era.", the hooded figure said to himself making a huge evil grin in his face.
"Kill the rest. Bring me the woman who possess ice magic. Alive.", the hooded figure commanded his minions.
"Elsa, there's too many of them.", the queen warned her sister. The fifth spirit can't handle these things on her own. She was now exhausted by using her magic to receive the attacks. The trolls helped her backed up by throwing boulders at the flying creatures.
"Stay behind me.", Elsa said to her sister which the queen followed. The white snowman also did the same. The spirit wolf, Reyv, killing some demons to lessen their numbers. However, they are heavily outnumbered.
There were soldiers injured and lay down on the grounds of the castle. They were helping each other out, carrying the wounded to evacuate the area. However, they are being cornered and surrounded by dangerous beings.
"Here, let me help you.", Kristoff offered his assistance to a wounded soldier and carried him by the soldiers while they were stepping back.
"Give up, humans. Stay still and be obliterated.", the hooded figure declared.
"Who are you? Why are you doing this?", Elsa announced loudly not showing any kind of weakness. In reality, the fifth spirit is struggling to keep her composure but she must be strong to protect everyone.
"To clean up Armad's mess. You see, he failed to destroy and absorb everyone's life force in this place." The hooded guy answered her question plainly, as if it was a normal thing to do. He launched his minions to eradicate everyone below.
"They are still beings like him out there?...powerful as the demon, Armad? No, no, no...this isn't happening.", Elsa confusedly thought.
Everyone now was in a tight spot. They were pushed into a tight corner. The Arendellian soldiers in the frontline to protect the royal family.
"Elsa.", the queen closed her eyes and hugged her sister.
"Protect the royal family, at all cost.", General Mattias and his soldiers launched their own attacks and charged at the monsters approaching them.
One by one, the flying creatures threw them to the side and few of the soldiers where grabbed and taken to the sky just to let them free fall to their deaths. Blood spilled everywhere when they fell high above the air. This brought a sickening feeling to the people below. The castle grounds was now filled with dead bodies and blood. It was purely chaos.
"Noooooo! Stop this..please!", the queen begged the hooded figure. She can't take this anymore. Her soldiers were killed like nothing. They were just thrown in the air like they were useless objects. Tears were forming in her eyes as she pleaded.
The hooded guy didn't mind and continued on attacking. His minions approaching them at high speeds.
The remaining people just closed their eyes and preparing for their absolute demise.
"Nooooooo!", the fifth spirit screamed. Tears also falling down her cheeks as she shouted. She was beyond tired that she can't conjure her ice magic properly. When the demonic creatures where about to attack, a strong gust of wind mixed with purple flames burned them. The fifth spirit witnessed this and was in awe.
"...What just happened?...", Elsa asked. She gazed towards the source of it. The fifth spirit kept looking around and saw a familiar little lizard on top of Reyv's head.
"Bruni!, the lizard heard his name and stared the at the familiar faces for awhile, then he faced the enemy infront of them.
The fire spirit was beyond pissed and angry at the hooded figure from the way he was growling against him. Elsa smiled genuinely and a feeling of relief dawned upon her when she saw the little guy.
"A mere nature spirit dares to stop me..Hahahaha", the hooded guy just laughed.
Reyv and Bruni combined their powers to create a burst of wind and flames. The spirit wolf howled and released his magic to create huge whirlwinds towards the flying creatures, at the same time, Bruni unleased her purple flames to the winds to burn the flying creatures. They manage to do it and most of the demon creatures were defeated. The people just stood still and amazed by what their witnessing. A battle of nature spirits and demons.
"You can do it, Reyv! Bruni!", Olaf cheered them on.
Only three remained in the skies and where the hooded figure is standing, the two spirits attacked them with their own magic but this time, it wasn't any ordinary combination of their magic. The two spirits stood still for a moment, steady their breathing and stared deeply in the skies. This brought a familiar sensation to the fifth spirit.
"What are they doing, Elsa?", Anna asked her sister.
"Mana is dwelling towards the two...this is..the same as that time...with Grey and Reyv...they can do it too?", Elsa said incoherently.
"What do you mean?", Kristoff asked her.
This time, a blue and purple magical circles emerged infront of the two spirits aiming at the hooded figure.
"...a reason to act. A resolve to achieve something...", Elsa recalled Grey's words when they were travelling in the air and dealing with Nephiria's curse.
"...its uniting magic.", Elsa made a note in the end.
Bursts of purple flames and gushing winds in equal magnitude approaches the hooded figure and his remaining demon creatures. The attack can't be compared to the previous ones, this was more larger and a tenfold stronger. The attack of the two spirits hit their enemies and the hooded guy was suprised by the large scale attack and didn't react in time, and was caught up in the large explosion.
The people cheered the two spirits for the amazing display.
"They did it, Elsa.", the queen told her while small tears run down her cheeks.
"Its over?...ITS OVER!", Kristoff cheered as well.
"Yes, they did it.", the fifth spirit made a huge smile and hugged her sister. The two spirits approached the royal family.
"Thank you, Bruni. You're amazing.", Anna said to the little lizard while petting the fire spirit.
"You too, Reyv. You did great. Thank you.", Elsa said. They had that breath of air they needed. They manage to nullify the attack of the demons and stopped them from terrorizing Arendelle. Everyone was cheering when it was all over.
After a few minutes, the fifth spirit's smile was nowhere to be seen when she felt something dark and dense. It sent shivers and chills to her. It scared her. Her body became heavy and it's getting hard to breath as moments passed. Their happiness was cut off short.
"Elsa...I can't breath...my body..is", Anna managed to muttered some words.
"Anna...anna...ANNAAAA!", the fifth spirit shouted her name as much as she can when her sister fell to the ground. She was gravely worried about her sister.
"I can't move.", Elsa thought while struggling to get a hold of herself.
"Well done! Humans. You manage to land a hit on someone like me. I was caught off guard back there. Still, you all die.", a guy with burned clothes and black spiky hair announced emanating an evil aura which made the people around him lose consciousness. This was the guy who got hit by Reyv and Bruni's uniting magic. He was laughing maniacally as if he was crazy. The two spirits struggling to remain balance. As the evil guy, approaches them, he kick and sent the two spirits flying towards the walls of the castle.
"He's..still...alive..impossible.", a soldier said in between hard breaths.
"..your majesty...", the general said weakly.
"No, this can't be happening right now... its getting hard to breath.", Elsa with a horrified expression. Most of the soldiers were still struggling and individually losing consciousness.
"Anna..anna.. I have to get to her.", Kristoff crawling towards the queen.
Elsa fell down to the ground, just watched her sister lose consciousness. Her body is getting heavier and harder to breathe. It felt like someone was choking her in the neck but isn't there. Its excruciating.
"Please..stop..
..make this stop..
..I can't do this anymore...
..help us...
...help me...
...Grey...save me...", tears flowed down Elsa's cheeks as she closed her eyes and cried for help.
The black haired guy continues to walk to them and was about to grab the fifth spirit. He stopped when a huge sword was thrown at him which suprised him and made him jumped back. Consequently, the guy who threw the sword appeared in front of him instantly as he was in mid air.
"He's fast.", the black haired guy thought with shocked expression. He was immediately sent back to the gates by a strong kick. It made a huge impact sound and he growled in pain.
"You bastard. Who are you?", he cursed the guy who hit him.
"What's the matter, Elric? Suddenly, forgot about me. You were just enjoying yourself a while ago.", a familiar silver-white haired guy emerged from the fog of smokes staring at him with piercing cold eyes.
Elric's menacing aura vanished when the prince of the Aether kingdom appeared. The people who were struggling to breathe earlier took a deep breath when they were able breathe again. The dense and heavy feeling also dissipated.
Elsa was breathing heavily at first, gasping for air, then steadily, when she can breathe properly. She got up a little, opened her eyes widely, and she made the purest smile when she saw the back figure of the familiar prince.
The prince who kept messing and teasing her when he's around, and the prince who's also risking his life to protect them. Tears streamed her eyes but her tears were tears of relief because her prayers were answered. Her cheeks were a little red which became vibrant because of her pale skin, and her eyes brighten when she saw Grey.
"I'm sorry I was a little late, Snowflake.", Grey stared at her eyes and smiled to assure her that everything is gonna be okay. She can't clearly express whats she's feeling now, but she felt relief and sort of glad that he came.
Elsa put her hands together above her chest and hummed a disagreeing "no" as she shook her head slowly sideways almost beautifully, as her hair dance around with her gesture, and she happily said with a genuine smile.
"It doesn't matter. You're here now."
