Chapter 5: Trials part 1

Let's start

'Huh, what was that voice?' thought Bell 'I have the impression that I have heard it before, but where and to whom belongs? For some reason, I feel like I need to find out' continued the thoughts of the young hero.

At the same time, while Bell was thinking about the voice that he heard, dinner was served, but he was too lost in his thoughts to notice anything until Asfi called him.

"Should we start eating, dear?" but no answer came and she tried again after a while "Bell, are you listening to me?"

"Oh, sorry, I was lost in my thoughts" said Bell with a smile "What were you saying?" continued the young man, but something hit him and he thought 'this isn't right'.

"I was saying that we should start eating. Right, Bell honey?" said Asfi with a smile.

"Stop! This is not right!" said Bell, as he realized that something is wrong.

"It is dinner time, so it is nothing wrong with us eating" said Ais, as she didn't understand what Bell was saying.

"I didn't mean dinner, I meant this whole thing with this world. I will never have this many women, I will never be the king of the world. I want to be a hero and form a family with the girl that I love, no several women; so this isn't real, it can't be real. This entire thing is somehow magically designed. I don't know what I have to do to return to normal, but I will do anything" said Bell, as he started to figure out what was going on while his desire to be a hero and his feelings for his loved ones, also the girl he was in love with, succeeded in waking him up from the spell that the trial had enchanted.

"No, Bell, you are wrong, we are real, all this is real" said Asfi as she approached Bell,

"No, stay away, you are not real. I can fell this in my heart" said Bell. As he said that, magic cracks appeared all around him and a fairy with blonde hair and green eyes (AN: Just imagine Leafa from SAO) appeared in front of him. He and the fairy were transported into a sort of world between the worlds.

"Who are you? What is going on?" asked Bell as he was in a world where everything was white and it seemed like an infinite emptiness.

"Who I am is not important. What is important is that you have to choose if you want to go back to your world or stay here and be happy with all of this lovely ladies, but before you choose, I want you to see this and think carefully about what you want" said the fairy.

As the fairy finished, Bell saw what was happening in the world with Derek's army attacking and burning city after city that stood in his path towards power.

"There is nothing to think about, I will go back to the real world and stop this madness" said Bell with determination.

"Are you sure? You can live here happily and with lots of love from a lovely harem. If you go to the real world, you will feel a lot of pain and suffering before you can be happy, if you can ever reach happiness" said the fairy as she wanted to test Bell.

"Yes, I am; if I can help someone, I will do anything. If there is happiness for me at the end of the path, then so be it, if not, maybe in next life, but I will not be happy at the expend of others" said Bell, but he soon realized something and said:

"Oh, so this is the first trial, the one that the spirit and Lefiya were talking about. If I am right, wanting to stay in this dream world means failure and wanting to leave is passing, so send me to the next trial" said Bell, as he was sure this was the first trial and he was happy both for finding out about the trail and for being able to pass it. He also realized how close he was to fail. Along with this he realized that the other 8 trials would be hard to pass since they were going to mess up with his mind and he had no way of remembering that it was a trial until he actually passed it or he could pass it.

"Very well, you passed the trial of lust or temptation with the power of love. Good luck with you next trial" said the fairy 'I think you have a good chance to claim the tear of souls, but you have to be careful Bell' thought the fairy as Bell disappeared from her world and entered the second trial.

Back to the real world, above Bell's head appeared:

Frist trial: lust. Cleared with the power of love

'Very interesting, Bell, let's see what you will do in the second trail' thought the spirit as he watched Bell entering the second world for the second trail. For starters, he will not know about his being in a trial.

As Bell woke up, he realized that he was in the city, but, from some strange reason, no one could see or hear him, as he noticed that the light passed through him; also he couldn't touch or grab anything.

'This is strange, I don't remember dying; besides, it seems I have pulse, which means I am alive, but how I ended up like this? It must have been some spell, I think; if it was a spell, as I suspect, and I can't talk to anyone to confirm it, all I can do is wait and hope for the effect to wear off' thought Bell, as he was analyzing his current situation. He started to walk around the city, hoping that he could find a way to reverse the spell or that the spell would wear off if he made any kind of effort.

Bell's first location was his home. As he reached it, he heard some of the guards talking…
