I kept myself at an ample yet casual pace as I walked on the dark cobblestone streets of Graymore, tonight I was wearing my professional attire, It is composed of stitched leather armor that muffles most movement while giving me minor protection against injury. Integrated into the armor is a leather hood as well as a mask, which I consistently wear incase I am spotted on the job. Various pockets and satchels for my trade tools are hidden in the suit, allowing me to carry a wide array of gadgets like flash bombs, lockpicks, my trusty blackjack, and folding blade. My cloak hangs at about calf-high and has been purposely tattered to help break up my human form while hiding in the shadows. My gloves have my fingers exposed in order to allow my nimble hands to operate without the hindrance of armor or cloth. Tonight is supposed to be a simple job break into another manor, steal another fat noble's prized treasure and leave quietly all while never needing to spill a single drop of blood I am a thief after all, not a murderer. Rumor has it is that the lord of the manor is out of town, and his huntsman dog went with him meaning that the time is ripe for a bit of burglary. The front the entrance of the manor like all manors is going to be heavily guarded, and with guards patrolling on the streets as frequently as they do means I'll have to find another way in. Thankfully Junior has told me that there is a better way in, around the side and out of the way with only a single guard on the post, and at this time of night if there is a witness, I probably deserved to get caught. Thankfully I procured building documents of the manor from a former employee who was quite disgruntled about losing their job, it's time to begin my night of subterfuge. Once I got close to the manor's front entrance I slowed my pace and kept to the shadows that were just outside the reach of the illumination of the street lamps.
When I was able to view the front entrance I saw at least 4 guards, "A few too many to try and sneak by here." I mumbled as I walked into a nearby side alley sticking to the shadows naturally as I always do, my pace at this point nearing a sneak as I heard footsteps ahead of me, around the corner. When I neared the corner, I peeked my head around it and saw a guard moving up and down a small very and very illuminated street. Thankfully there where enough shadows nearby him from me to sneak by him, though it would be cutting it close due to the nature of my semblance. I waited for the guard to do an about-face and start moving the other way to minimize my chances of being spotted, tailing him closely to the point of where I could hear him mumble something about wanting to go home and eat dinner with his wife and hating how he was always here so late. Thankfully, I got into a large patch of shadows that allowed me to continue my calm stroll through the streets of Graymore, until I eventually spotted what I was looking for the side entrance that Junior had told me about, which looked to be a well house and outside of it was a single guard who was currently enjoying a bit of an unethical worktime beverage, "Could you possibly be even more helpful?" I said as I and on his hip was the key to what I could only assume was the well house behind him. I worked my way around him and began to creep up behind him, I lowered my stance and reached out of the shadow I was in and swiped his key. Internally I was giggling like a schoolgirl as I turned around and moved towards the well house. I used the key and unlocked the door before I slowly opened the wooden door, fearing that it would make a noise and alert the drunken guard I made a gap just large enough for me to enter and then I slowly shut it behind me.
The well house itself was relatively small I chucked as I saw an open well in the center, and conveniently it was just wide enough to fit me, I placed my hand on the edge of the well and I peered over the edge and I saw water and it was moving towards the manor, but unable to tell the depth of the drop I pulled a glowstick out from satchel cracked it against the edge of the well and dropped it down, hearing a satisfying splash he took a closer look and saw that it took a significant amount of time to hit the bottom, "Well looks like I'm going for a swim, hope this entrance is as good as Junior said it was." I said as I perched myself on top of the well before I crossed my arms over my chest and dropped down the well, feeling a cool rush of air hit me as fell a good 10 feet before a splash could be heard and I found myself in a deep current of water. I swam with the current, hoping to whatever deity existed that this lead to the mayor's manor and not some sewage plantation. Thankfully to my surprise, I saw what seemed to be a chasm on my right side and built into that chasm was a neatly placed wooden door, "Must have been from when the place was being built, probably couldn't finish building due to the well." I said as I grabbed onto the chasm and I pulled myself upwards out of the water and began to move towards the wooden door, when I got close to the door I placed my hand on the knob and gently turned it, happily surprised when I found that it wasn't locked. I opened the door slightly and peered through the crack, I was greeted by a wide variety of boxes and containers and no guards in the room to be seen. I opened the door just wide enough to fit through and I moved through shutting it gently behind me, lightly chuckling as I said, "Inside at last."
Thank you all so much for reading! More about the character will be revealed soon, and for fans of the Thief games, you'll notice that Garret is pretty much a rip of Garret from the games though I will probably make some changes to him. Also if you can guess his semblance you get brownie points.
