The party was in full bloom by the time he decided to stop by, to calls of,
"Finally decided to show up!" and,
"Look who's here!"
The host of the party made his way through the flashing lights and drinking teens, "Jakey P in the place to be!" he exclaimed, high-fiving the newcomer. Jake Peralta smiled.
As the new-kid, he hadn't expected to be invited to any mad parties that weekend. He had a night of cluedo and pizza planned with his mum, while they waited for his dad to get home from 'work'. We'll, that was his plan until Tony Santiago swaggered up to him on Friday night to ask him if he was coming and to give him the address.
So here he was, at a new house in a new neighbourhood in a new city. He was still getting used to Brooklyn, he wasn't sure if it was his piece of cake yet.
The party went on and on, every one of Tony's six older brothers coming in through the front door and disappearing off up the stairs. At about 1am people started to drift off home, eventually there were only a handful of people left. They decided to do karaoke (all of them being pretty drunk at that point) and cranked up the Adele tracks.
About ten minutes of this passed - blissfully - until a girl in a fluffy pink dressing gown on stormed down the stairs. Her hair was drooping out of a messy bun and she had huge glasses, sliding down her nose with each stomp.
"Tony! I'm trying to sleep! I have lots of school work to do tomorrow so SHUT UP!!" She then turned and stalked back off upstairs. Jake's eyes followed her all the way to the top, ignoring the other boys' jitters of "Someone's in trouble!" and the likes.
Jake turned over in his bed, smiling. The party was a week ago and he still couldn't get Tony Santiago's angry sister out of his head. He glanced at the clock and saw that it was late. He popped in his earbuds and cranked up the Top 40s. Then he drifted off to sleep, his mind still on his first friend in Brooklyn, and - more importantly - said friend's sister.
