Morning in Paris, and in one of those blue moon days, Marinette was up early and up on her roof to see the sunrise, gently singing to herself.
Good Morning, Paris
The only town for me
I love this view from high above.
It reminds me of what I truly love.
Smiling she looked down at Tikki, her little red Kwami and friend, who smiled back, before continuing with her song as she spotted a few of her friends.
The sun is shining.
The sky is so bright.
And there go Kim and Alix on their morning 'Who's the Best' fight.
Rose and Juleka are together, hanging out again.
It's hard to believe light and dark make such good friends.
And there's Ivan, and he's playing a game of Tic-Tac-Toe
It looks like Mylene is going to win on her next go.
The thing I love about this crazy town,
Is having all my friends around.
She came down into her room, grabbed her phone, let Tikki fly into her purse, grabbed her bag and her school things and went downstairs to have a quick breakfast.
"Morning Mum," she said happily as she poured herself some cereal.
"Good morning dear, I heard you singing up there," Sabine said sitting down as well "I do so wish you would sing for us like that."
"Mum you know how scared I get when I'm in front of people." Marinette said blushing and playing with her hair a little, something she does when she's nervous.
"Well it doesn't need to be in front of lots of people sweetie, just your dad and me will do," Sabine said smiling gently.
"I'll think about it later," Marinette said smiling, as she put her bowel by the sink and left.
Sighing Sabine went downstairs, knowing full well, that in 'Teenage Speech' that meant it most likely wasn't going to happen.
After saying good morning and goodbye to her dad, Marinette went outside and started to head for school, which was just across the road.
The song from before still in her head, as she looked up at the roof tops thinking about that night's patrol with Chat Noir they were planning if Hawkmoth left the city alone today.
Exploring's so exciting.
Rescuing is the best.
But it is also kind of nice to be back in my nest.
Here she span around and looked at the bakery, mainly the window which was to her bedroom, thinking of her nice warm bed.
As long as we're together, we'll never be alone.
No matter where we fly or we roam.
There's nothing quite like home.
Ohh, there's nothing quite like home. Ohh.
She had made it to the school and was looking around the yard seeing friends and other students.
I wonder if Damocles is off to cosplay hero again or maybe try something new today.
Whatever it is, we'll end up rescuing him either way.
At this she looked down at Tikki who was nibbling on a cookie who shrugged in agreement thinking of all the times the principle had to be saved by Ladybug and Chat Noir last time he tried being 'Hero'.
Soon she saw Lila by the stairs, a few steps higher than the group of students around her buying into her lies.
Lila is here early with her newest lies.
Probably planning something mmm... not so nice.
The thing I love about this crazy town
Is having all my friends (and Lila) around.
Heading back outside for a bit of fresh air before school starts, Marinette was watching the skies and the clouds so she didn't see the grey limo pull up and the teen model, Adrien Agreste step out.
Exploring's so exciting.
Rescuing is the best.
But it is also kind of nice to be back in my nest.
As long as we're together, we'll never be alone.
No matter where we fly or we roam.
There's nothing quite like home.
Ohh, there's nothing quite like home.
"Whoa Marinette," Adrien spoke up, making the blue haired girl cry out and spin around nearly falling over, but thanks to Adrien's quick reflexes he caught her in time and gently set her back on her feet. "I never knew you could sing like that."
"What? Me singing?" Marinette said backing off and looking around for Alya to help her "I – I wasn't singing. Did you hear singing, not me."
"You sure?" Adrien asked being respectful and keeping his distance "Because I've been told I have very good hearing and I'm sure I heard something and saw you singing to yourself."
"Well, then, you must be hearing things," Marinette said grinning a nervous grin "Now if you'll excuse me I need too..." she said looking around trying to think of something. "Finish my Science homework for Miss Busiter."
With that she span around and speed walked into the school and straight to the girls bathroom.
"But Miss Bustier doesn't teach Science," Adrien said confused as Alya and Nino came over to see what was wrong.
"Hey dude," Nino said bro-hugging his best friend.
"Hey," Adrien said waving his bodyguard off and heading inside. "Hey have you seen Marinette yet today? I've just seen her and she's acting strange. Well stranger than usual."
"Why?" Alya asked her phone in her hand "What was she doing?"
"Well, she was singing," Adrien said not sure what to say "But when I asked her about it, she denied it and said she had to do Science homework for Miss Bustier."
"But Miss Bustier doesn't teach Science," Nino said confused as Alya went to go look for Marinette.
"Exactly," Adrien said as they went up to their homeroom classroom.
"You said she was singing right, dude?" Nino said after a bit of thinking.
"Well it sure sounding like singing to me," Adrien said sitting down at his desk.
"Well that's probably it," Nino said sitting down as well "Marinette is a great singer, but she's super shy so she won't sing in front of anyone, not ever her family. And it probably didn't help that it was you who caught her singing mate. What with you being you and everything."
"What? The son of Gabriel Agreste?" Adrien asked confused his fame at being the famous fashion designer's son and teen super model, making him blind to when a girl really likes him.
"Er sure, let's go with that," Nino said turning away to look into his bag and roll his eyes at the same time as Marinette and Alya came in and sat down behind them.
For the rest of the morning, no word was said about Marinette or her possibly wonderful singing voice and by lunch time she was feeling much better.
In another part of Paris, in an old almost rundown opera house, Mayor Bourgeois was talking to one of the owners, the other one was currently sick in the hospital.
"Melody, this place has to be torn down. It's just not making enough money for it to stay open, and it is completely falling apart."
"No please, we can get the money," Melody Song said begging "My great grandparents built this place. It's important to the town; you have to let it stay!"
"Instead of replacing it with a brand new spa and restaurant that will bring in more people to the town so they can stay at my hotel?"
"But... But..." Melody said getting more upset by the minute trying to think of what to do "But what about all the students that come here for singing practice? We have a concert coming up. You can't shut us down before then."
"Fine. I'll give you until the end of the month." Andre said leaving the papers and walking out.
Melody waited until he was gone before sniffing and looking at the papers on her desk.
"What am I going to do?" she said to herself crying a little, knowing that she wouldn't be able to get this much money on her own, and the Opera House had nowhere near that amount in the safe.
A few streets away, a large butterfly themed stained-glass window opened and shone a light into the darkened room stirring up hundreds of white butterflies.
Soon the light reached a man in a purple outfit with a silver mask.
"Ah the tears of a crying artist unable to pay her building's debts," he said grinning to himself "Music to my ears. Come here little Akuma."
Gently a butterfly landed into Hawkmoth's hand, which he then covered with his other hand and fed with dark magic before releasing it.
"Fly little Akuma, and help this voice be heard."
o0o
At its own pace, the Akuma flew towards where the negative emotions were coming from, and into the office window where Melody was still at her desk, now looking a few new songs she had written for the music class students to sing for the audience as she does every year, wondering if this would be the last time she would be able to do it.
Going unnoticed, the Akuma landed on the song-sheet and turned it a dark purple as a purple lined mask appeared over Melody's face, her tears pausing for a bit.
"Melodia, I am Hawkmoth," the voice in her head said "I can give you the power for your songs to be heard, and to get others to sing along with you, if you wish. All I ask for is a few small things in return. Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculous'."
Sniffing a little, Melody asked "Will this really help my songs be heard?"
"Yes, I promise," Hawkmoth said his calm trusting voice convincing her.
"Alright," she said, and with that dark purple bubbles swam over her, from where she was holding onto the song-sheets.
Once they were gone, Melodia was now in a brightly multi coloured dress, consisting mainly of yellow but with pinks, purples, and blues there too, with a cloak which attached to her wrists and waist so she could use it like wings and get the light to shine through them and get people's attention.
The song-sheets were now in a small book-bag which was safely tied onto her belt going around her waist and resting on her hip.
On her head she wore a fancy crown in her dress's colours, like the ones you see in the large carnivals.
And on her face a slightly darker yellow mask covered her eyes.
Taking a look at herself loving her new outfit in the mirror, Melodia took out a song and tried singing, her voice sounding perfect, even after she had been crying, and had done no warm ups.
Grinning, Melodia wondered what to do first. Get her 'revenge' or go looking for the Miraculous.
"Either way, I will need help," she said to herself and checked the time seeing the first of her music classes for that day should be arriving very soon.
AN: This fic (hopefully) will be based on/around the new 'Rescue Riders' mini movie Secrets of the Songwing (which the song(s)) will all come from even if i mess with the words a little).
In which the heroes meet a dragon with a voice that can hypnotize other dragons and people to join her.
If you want to watch I suggest going to Kimcartoon .me and looking for it (Bit of a warning though – there is a lot of singing in it).
And please note, the Akuma is only called 'Melodia' because my sister and I couldn't think of another name for me to give her.
