And here we return where we left off ... sort of . Verrocchio has officially turned on the twins and Balalaika is closing in on them .

As his car drove to Verrocchio's place , Chang tried to settle his nerves on the trip there . While he certainly didn't show it , he couldn't help but feel a bit nervous , not concerning Verrocchio but over the two vampire children . The fact that they were just kids was unsettling , the fact that they had killed multiple of his men was even more scary . They had to have been skilled , if not they wouldn't have survived this long .
Chang popped a cigarette in his mouth to settle his nerves as the car finally pulled up at the front entrance of Verrocchio's place .
'Time to go to work ...' Chang thought as one of his bodyguards held open the door to let him out .
As he stepped out Chang could hear the sounds of gunfire and screaming coming from inside , flashes of light shining from the windows . Chang's men cocked their weapons , all of them ready for a fight . Chang listened closely to the sound of gunfire and screams , the breaking of glass , trying to determine where it was coming from .
" Boss , we've surrounded the building and are waiting to move in on your orders " Cho , one of his right hand men told him .
" Thanks Cho ..." Chang said looking at one particular window . " And by the way Cho , if I were you , I would duck right about now "
" Wait , what Boss ? " Cho asks confused .
At that moment , a man was thrown out the window , glass shattering and his body landing on top of Chang's car , ruining the top . Cho along with the rest of his men , all ducked their heads as glass rained down on them , as Chang calmly adjusted his glasses .
" Looks like this job just turned into a hunt boys ..." Chang turned to one of his men , as the sounds of gunfire and screaming continued again . " Get Hotel Moscow on the line , they're gonna owe me for this one "
" Come on , come on , damnit pick up Revy ! " Eda impatiently tapped her finger against the pay phone " This is a call you're gonna wanna take ! "
" Hey , what's up ?" Revy answered .
" Revy the cops are on the move . Looks like half the force is here " Eda told her , as police cars passed her by on the street " They're setting up roadblocks behind me and are about to lockdown the entirety of downtown "
" No shit , what the hell is going on ?" Revy asks surprised at this turn of events .
" Somethings going down at the Verrocchio's base , apparently people are hearing the sounds of gunfire and screaming coming from there . Can't mean anything good " Eda leaned on the machine " Revy ! Are we seriously going to watch this all go down from the sidelines ? There's some serious money to be made here ! "
" I know , I know , now will you stop shouting in my ear ? " Revy cocked her gun , placing it in her holster " So where we meeting ?"
" Joey got a room at the Palcana Square , now hurry your ass up ! "
" On my way , see you then " Revy hung up and threw the phone at Rock , who almost didn't catch it . " Don't wait up boys ..."
Revy gave a small wave as she walked out the door .
Dutch let out a sigh , taking a sip of his beer " Well , shit . The blasting fuse has been lit and there's no stopping this gigantic powder keg from exploding now ..."
After a few minutes or so , the shooting seemed to have quiet down and the screams seemed to have stopped as well . That should have put Chang and his men at ease , but it ended up doing the complete opposite , as they didn't know what was happening inside anymore .
Chang thought up of two possibilities , either the twins killed everybody inside or Verrocchio somehow managed to kill them .
Whichever the case , whoever's in there ain't walking out alive .
" Boss , that was Hotel Moscow , they are saying that it isn't safe for us here and are recommending that we pull out immediately " Cho said hanging up his phone .
" I didn't know Balalaika cared so much about me , I guess she still loves me ..." Chang joked , as the sound of footsteps coming from the front entrance catch his ear . " And Cho duck again "
" Wait , what ? " Cho asks confused once more .
The door of the front entrance opened suddenly and Chang didn't waste anytime , quickly pulling out his duel Beretta 76's . " Get down ! "
Chang shouted , before firing in the direction of the door , in a second two black figures ran past them , both of them shooting at Chang and his men . Gretel was duel wielding her Heckler's while carrying her BAR on her back and shooting at Chang's men at the same time , aiming non lethally for the knees . Cho and the rest of his men went down rather quickly , clutching their legs and knees in pain .
Chang continued to miss every shot , because the twins were moving so damn fast , he jumped over the hood of his car and took cover as his guns ran out of ammo , and Gretel continued to lay down a suppressive fire to keep him pinned .
" Not too bad kids ! You two are good at this ! " Chang said as the shooting stopped .
" Thank you kind sir , but I'm afraid we'll have to make our leave now , I suggest you work on getting your men to a hospital before they bleed out " Hansel said politely before the two ran off .
" Oh thank god ..." Chang let out a sigh of relief as their footsteps became fainter and fainter , resting his head against the bumper of the now beat up car .
Down at the Palcana Square , where a large majority of bounty hunters gather to try and take their shot at the prize . It was a good spot all things considered , it gave a nice view of the road and plenty of places to shoot from . There was also a street where cars passed through , so if the twins were to try and drive through there , they would be in for a nasty surprise .
" The source of the fire seems to be coming from the Verrocchio family's place and it sounds like Watsap's questioning the Triad about it right now " Joey said , listening in on the police scanner " I'd say this route just got that much closer to the gold "
" Opening night fireworks are about to begin ladies and gents , Hallelujah ! "
"Listen up , its a black sedan japanese make "
" Yeah , but if they get rid of the car then we have no way of knowing . "
" Big fucking deal , I'm shooting anybody I see "
" Hey , don't push ! "
" Revy come over here " Eda calls out from her position at the very back of the room .
Revy gets up from her spot at the front and walks over . " What is it Eda ? "
" I just realized something a little while ago , take a look around " Eda doesn't offer any explanation whatsoever .
" What do you mean ? Quit beating around the fucking bush " Revy was not in the mood to play 20 questions .
" Its Balalaika . Out of everyone here , she wants those brats more than anyone else , but I'm looking around and I don't see the lady of the hour anywhere " Eda explains .
" Yeah , you're right that is pretty strange come to think of it " Revy leans in closer to Eda , to talk in a more hushed manner .
" If this is really where its going to go down , then we would have been shut out of the area by now " Eda reasons " So that leaves the question , where would the twins go ? "
" Well , they're not just couple of dumb fucks , cause they're either insanely lucky or smart to have made it this far , so I doubt they would try to go out guns blazing " Revy says thinking hard " But if they have an objective right now , it would be to get the hell out of dodge now that the whole city is hunting for their heads "
Both Eda and Revy cock their guns .
" Balalaika even deployed the Visotoniki's so that she could get the brats herself " Eda hold her gun close to her .
" Yeah , but the thing about soldiers is that they're pragmatic . They won't act solely on speculation alone " Revy puts her gun close to her forehead " The brats will try to look for a blind spot in their defenses "
" These idiots must think that this is a deer hunt in Montana or something . But these are no deer's . " Eda puts her gun close to her forehead " These twins are like wild coyotes , they ain't gonna be easy prey "
Revy nodded in agreement " Yeah , if they were stupid enough to fall for an obvious trap like this , then they would be rotting under a tombstone by now "
" For someone with no education , you catch on pretty quick Revy " Eda made a light joke at Revy's expense " So what do you think , what's the fastest route from here to Hotel Moscow ? We're gonna have to use backstreets if we're gonna make it in time "
" We'll cut through Chalquam Market and then its just a straight shot along Saatanam Street . But more importantly ... " Revy turned to Eda with a glare " Last time I checked , you don't have any education either , you fucking whore ... "
" I'm sorry for your car Chang ... " Balalaika says on the phone not sounding the least bit genuine " If you want I can recommend an excellent mechanic "
" Save it " Chang grumbled in response " If I'd known those kids were gonna be there , I would have brought my best shooters with me . Thanks to them , I have to walk home now and six of my guys are gonna be in the hospital for months . Perfect end to a perfect night , eh ? "
" Oh and I took care of Watsap for you . I figured you could do without him getting in the way , so I gave him a nice little tip and sent him off on a wild goose chase " Chang smirks " I'll let you figure out how to pay me back "
" Shrewd as always Chang , I definitely owe you one for that . Everything's going according to plan , things should be getting started soon enough " Balalaika looks at her men as they run off to complete their assignments " Have a nice night Chang "
" Oh, hang on a second , there's something else you should probably know " Chang stopped her before she could hang up .
" What is it ? "
" Apparently , when they were going over the bodies of the guys killed inside Verrocchio's place ... Verrocchio himself was unfortunately not among the deceased " Chang informs Balalaika .
" Verrocchio's still alive ? " Balalaika asks surprised by this .
" Yeah , they found a basement connected to another basement which connected to a garage in the building , I think he and some of his men may have slipped out during the gunfight and got away before me and my guys showed up " Chang used his knowledge as a former cop to deduce what Verrocchio did .
" I see ..." Balalaika's tone turned icy " I'll see to it that he is dealt with ..."
Balalaika hang up after that , she was going to kill that man with her own two hands .
Back at Palcana Square , a car suddenly drove out of the alley and started driving down the road at full speed . Swerving and driving unsteadily , the car instantly caught the attention of all the bounty hunters on the rooftops and positioned in the nearby buildings .
" There it is ! That's that car ! " One of them pointed at the car . " No mistaking it , black sedan japanese make ! "
" Are the twins inside ? "
" I can't tell with those tinted windows " A sniper tried to look through the glass .
" I'm not waiting to find out , lets blow em away ! " A man with a rocket , aimed out the window and shot it at the car .
" Ow ! You goddamn bastard ! " One of the men nearby when the rocket was shot screamed in pain , from hearing a rocket shot that close . The rocket hit the tail end of the car , not blowing it up but knocking it upwards .
" YOU CAN GO TO HELL ! "
All the bounty opened fire on the car , bullets penetrating every surface of it . The glass breaking from the storm of bullets hitting it . The car rolled and ended up hitting the tree , landing upside down , all of its windows broken and the car alarm going off .
" Did we get em ? "
All the bounty hunters looked closer with their scopes or binoculars ,to get a closer look at the car , to confirm their kill . Looking through the now broken up windows , they are all shocked to see that there is nobody inside !
" What the hell ! There's nobody in there ! "
" What the fuck ! Hows that even possible !?"
" We missed them ! Fuck ! "
" Shit ! "
" Watsap's headed southeast on fishing port " Joey got off the phone and announced to the whole room .
" That's where those brats are ! "
" Smoke em out ! "
" Come on ! "
" Get the cars ! "
All of the bounty hunters have yet to realize that they were being duped like fools , while the vampires made their getaway in a completely different part of town .
Gretel and Hansel ran down the backstreets , Hansel carrying their personal bag and Gretel with her BAR carrying the bag containing all the stolen money and items they took from Verrocchio's office . The two of them keeping an eye out for any bounty hunters . They had just played their little trick on the bounty hunters and it had worked like a charm .
" Okay sora mea , I'll admit it , I didn't think that having a gadget made so that we could control the car from a distance was needed , but I'm honestly glad you had that thing made " Hansel admits his doubts about the gadget .
" And you said that a gadget like that was completely unnecessary , shows what you know ! " Gretel can't help but rub it in .
" It costed 50 grand and all it did was let us control cars from a certain distance ! " Hansel argued back .
" And yet it was the very thing that saved our lives just now ..." Gretel says back with a smirk .
" How much money did we get anyway from Verrocchio's office anyway , sora mea ? " Hansel asked as they turned right .
" I think around 350,000 dollars as well as a couple of expensive items we can sell off for a nice price " Gretel responded quickly .
" Good . With this , we should be able to lay low without doing any jobs for a couple of months at least " Hansel looked forward " Now all we need to do is just get the hell out of here "
They ran for a few more minutes , before stopping in their tracks , hearing the sounds of somebody breathing ahead of them . Hansel pulled out his axe , while Gretel readied her BAR . As if one cue , an AK peaked around the corner and blindly fired at them .
" Shit " They both say at the same time .

By the fountain , Balalaika sits at the edge , holding a map , while Boris was listening in on his com .
" The team stationed behind Chalquam has engaged the twins , they are now attempting to divert them " Boris said as he listened in on his com .
" Good . " Balalaika said , circling out another part of the map " In which direction are the kids headed to now ?"
" Heading east as planned , they should be reaching Ladoga point any minute now "

Realizing they didn't have any choice but to pull back , the two made another right and ran down a straight and narrow path , unaware that they were being watched .
They were about to turn a corner , when Hansel stopped them both , holding his hand up . They both leaned up against the wall , weapons at the ready .
" What's wrong fratele meu ? " Gretel asked , cocking her BAR .
" I heard the sound of an engine around the corner " Hansel said , waiting for something to happen .
In the next minute , lights from a car illuminated the street and gunfire rained down the path they were about to down .
The twins quickly turned to their other choice , not even having to think about it .
" Fratele meu , I think they're trying to lead us somewhere " Gretel said in realization " They seem to know everywhere we're going "
" Yeah , I noticed it too a while back , they must have observation teams on the rooftops " Hansel grit his teeth at what this means .
" So they're leading us into a trap ? " Gretel asks afraid of the idea .
" Probably , we're going to have to get off this street and away from their eyes " Hansel said with determined " Its the only thing we can do "
They both made a quick left , passing another group of soldiers that are cutting off their escape and forcing them to run down another path .
The Vampire's are running out of time ...

...
" The targets have gone left " One of the squad leaders said over the radio .
" No surprises , they're going exactly the way that we want them to " Balalaika says with a small smile on her face , she has them now .
" Unit three engaged them and successfully managed to divert them to Ladoga Point and are headed to Livinsk . All units stand by " Boris said to the squads over the radio .
" I need a unit stationed at Hamipon Street " Balalaika tapped her marker against the street on the map .
" Understood Kapitan "
" We only want to leave them one exit , have all squads fall back after they've completed their assignments " Balalaika ordered " They're objective is to guide the enemy "
BANG !
The sound of a gunshot rang out through the quiet night , surprising not just Boris but Balalaika as well .
" What the hell ? " Boris sounds confused and surprised by this .
" Which team was that ? " Balalaika asks , sounding urgent .
" None of our units are set up in that area yet . It could be a bounty hunter " Boris pulled on his radio " All units report back ! "
" Eliminate anybody that tries to take the twins out " Balalaika said with a cold eyes " And do it without mercy , those kids are mine "

Hansel and Gretel stopped dead in their tracks , as a warning shot as fired just inches away from their Hansel's head , the bullet casing falling to the ground carelessly .
" Hold it . Don't move a muscle , you little brats " A blonde lady dressed in revealing clothing points her gun straight at their heads " You know , its not safe for little kids to be roaming the streets this late at night , especially when the whole city is on a manhunt and you two happen to be the prize " The lady says in a playfully scolding manner .
The blonde lady smirks at the two " I guess neither of you have been saying your prayers lately "
Hansel in his mind panicked in his head , he doubts he can go for his Glock before this lady shoots at him and then it'll be Gretel's turn . And she didn't seem the type to miss .
So what can he do ?!
As Hansel was having an internal panic attack , Gretel calmly walked towards the blond lady , much to Hansel's surprise .
" No , its okay miss . " Gretel actually smiled in a childlike at the lady , speaking in a nicer tone than usual " Hey ! Can I ask you a question ? "
The lady was taken off guard by this " Uh ..."
" How much are we worth again ? What's the bounty being offered on our heads ? " Gretel says , her face the picture of perfect child innocence .
The lady took a few steps back , unnerved by Gretel's smile " Uh ... eighty grand ! Don't move ! " The lady pointed her gun at Gretel's head again , but Gretel's smiled remained undeterred .
" Wow ! That's a lot of money ! " Gretel rummaged through the bag of money she was carrying , pulling out several thousand dollars worth of money " If you don't mind , I'd like to discuss something with you . You see I have all this money here from Verrocchio's office , we'll fight you here if we have to , but we'd rather avoid conflict for now , so ... "
" Will you please accept a 100,000 dollars and pretend you never saw us ? " Gretel asks , in the sweetest tone possible .
The lady let out a humorless laugh " Get the fuck out of here ! I'm not getting played by some kid ! "
" How about a 150,000 !? " Gretel raised the bribe , smiling all the way " Well ...? "
" Ah ... well , uh , I ..." The lady faltered in her smile and her grip on her gun . She whipped her head up top at a woman the twins didn't even notice before " What are we supposed to do Revy ?! "
" How is that even a question ?" The lady cocked her guns " The eighty grand , the one hundred fifty grand and their lives ! No reason , we can't take em all right ? "
Gretel put the money back in the bag and turned to Hansel , she nodded her head as if to signal him .
Hansel eyes widened as he realized what she was doing . Gretel was trying to distract the blonde lady , so that he could deal with the lady on the high ground ! She even offered up a bribe to draw out the second bounty hunter !
With that in mind , Hansel subtly reached for his crossbow , hidden on the right side of his coat .
He just needs to do it before the lady bounty hunters kill them both ...

"Kapitan , we've relocated the targets position " Boris walks up to Balalaika " The chinese woman from Lagoon Company and the sister from the Ripoff Church are there too "
" They have nothing to do with our operation ... " Balalaika blew out a puff of smoke " Neutralize them if you must , but don't kill them "
" Understood Kapitan and what about the twins ? " Boris asks .
" Proceed exactly as planned " Balalaika said simply , looking up at the sky .
Boris nodded , before getting on the radio to signal the squads .
' Just a little bit more ... I almost have you two now ' Balalaika thought in her head , as she smoked .
Yet for some odd reason , she couldn't shake the feeling that this night was far from over .
And that is the end of the chapter ! I hope you all enjoyed reading !
I'm almost finished with this story , I reckon maybe 3 more chapters or so before the ending .
